BATMAN

Always like to play Gordon Lightfoot's "song for a winters night" when it is snowing out. Found this version from 1967. Gords lyrics always put you there even 51 years later.

Batman, how did you get this video to show up in the thread like this (rather than a simple blue link)? Love this song on our winter nights here in Nova Scotia. Thanks. OSS

Try this video. It's my Lego textile factory motor in action. Thirty+ year old motor is working hard.

It seems necessary to post a reminder that discussing items for sale is prohibited under the clearly posted rules of the MR Forums. Do your business elsewhere and I won't have to put anybody on moderation.

My North Mountain textile factory for my Lego train layout will be duplicated in stone for my HO scale trains. Each piece of orange gypsum is sanded into blocks and later, the scaled brickwork will be scratched into the gypsum blocks.

Is that all?  Whew!  For a moment I thought coyotes had become political, or maybe religious.

I kind of welcome the coyotes here in eastern Massachusetts.  We don't have a lot of them, just a few now and then.  Our town doesn't allow hunting of any kind, so, with the extermination of most predators decades ago, we had a tough time controlling varmints until the foxes and coyotes made a comeback.

Then again, I have no cats or dogs, so coyotes are no danger to my household.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I got a note from Ulrich. Things are fairly quiet, although Petra was harrassed pretty badly on a recent grocery trip. She will no longer go alone.

So the end of the month is coming up. Where's the Diner moving next? Next month is Valentine's Day... how about Hershey, Pa.?

Woah! Did I see NS and CN together? Where? Looking to add non-CN locomotives that I've seen with CN to my roster! Thanks for posting Steve.

That would be Hershey, Pa. Which means we're looking at NS track. The CN unit was probably leased power.

Good morning from the home of the land of the Winter Monsoon. It is 12c with heavy rain and wind. It is my 61st. Birthday today and so far my account at PWRS has had $250.00 added to it. Thumbs Up

I have been gluing the walls on to the roundhouse today in between all the well wishes on the phone. The house is full of Veterinarians in to see the pups this morning. The wife knows a tremendous amount about genetics and reproductive techniques etc. Even though she retired long ago the phone never stops ringing with people wanting advice. There is major shop talk going on, so I will be retreating back to the train roomLaugh.

The pups have their own Facebook page with hundreds of followers.Hmm

Oldschool, to get a video inserted, use the insert video button at the top of the reply screen, just paste the address into it.

Putting my RH and TT into a piece of foam that lifts on and off the layout was the best thing I ever did. I just lift it out and take it to my desk to work on it and put it back when I am done.

You can see it here.

I think we will go for a big Birthday pig out at my favourite Sushi joint tonight. My Sister is taking us out to celebrate on Sunday to this incredible buffet at a hoity toity golf course. I see a whole lot of extra exercise this week and next.Laugh

Well, I need to make myself scarce.

All the best to all.

It is my 61st. Birthday today

Happy Birthday Brent!!      Happy B-Day

I like the removable roundhouse/turntable scene. I'm going to suggest it to the Club.

Last April I videotaped CN at Windsor Junction as it approached Halifax. Let's see if the video thumb shows up here.

We have many long trains coming and going from Halifax. Again in April 2017 I videotaped a Halifax-bound CN train in Elmsdale, about 30 minutes from the city. On this occasion I had two cameras running, one was my iPhone as the train approached and the second was my Sony mounted on the ground pointing in the direction that the train was moving. here is the first video.

The second video of the same train in Elmsdale was taken from my ground-mounted Sony on the other side of the level crossing pointing my way. Forgot to crop the end of the video. Just stop after the rolling stock goes by.

Video looks good, Oldschool—

but, I must ask. Are you sitting in the outhouse with the door open?

My computer screen is 19" wide and your video only uses three inches of the middle.

I guess this is the "new normal" ?

Sure isn't anything like the Cinerama production of "How The West Was Won"...

Cake Happy Birthday, Brent! Welcome to 61... the new 20.333!

Cheers, Ed

LOL. No there is actually a viewing gazebo right beside the track and the old CN station that has been converted into a daycare. This is how close to the train the children play so I must be safe!

I had my iPhone in its vertical position because I was so close. The other camera view is landscape like the old days.

I had never seen ties changed out before until CN did this at the Rockingham Yard on Bedford Basin in Halifax/Bedford last year. I had my iPhone and took videos of the equipment used. I wonder if any of these prototypes have been produced as HO models in the past? Number 1.

That was just one example, OldSchool. I found a few on Ebay in the $40-50 range and they will ship to Canada.

I started using video cameras in 2001, changing to new and better cameras every few years. I would say 99.5% of my videos are not VV's. Big Smile I started with terrestrial wildlife, then birds (lots of those videos), then nature in general (rivers, waterfalls, autumn leaves, storm chasing, etc). Last year I started with trains at different locations around Nova Scotia.

Here are two cars being loaded with scrap metal in Truro last July.

Hershey, where Hershey Park is located.  It used to be a medium size amusement park.  Those of you of a certain age remember when there were smaller parks than Disney and 6 Flags.  It was very family friendly and the tour of the factory came with a Hershey Bar.  I guess Steve is buying the Hershey Bars?

Batman, your veterinary story reminded me of my ex-wife.  She was a lab tech in Chapel Hill in the 70's and they were studying estrogen (hormone) receptors in breast cancer.  Her boss sent her and his wife, the gynecologist, to bring back a bunch of pig uteruses, which are rich in receptors.

They came back with 6 pig vaginas.
