Good morning ...
Galaxy ... I hope your procedure went well.
Ed and Timmy .... I built one of the WS bulldozers too. Here it is with an old dump truck which is on my "to do list" to rpeair. It's missing some detail parts.
Here is my WS road grader which I put together.
Timmy .... I like the machine in your photo. Do you know how t opost photos in the text body of a post?
Ed .... Your photo is very intersting showing how the lifted bulldozer into th hold of an ore ship.
Dave ... Good advice to Steven NWP SWP ....
Steven NWP SWP .... Those in the Diner tend not to be too judgemental of others. We can relate to some of your experiences because we were all young people ourselves. I recall being a teen model railroader. Much of what I did back then was very crude, but I had fun then..... I still enjoy the hobby... Relax and have fun.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Morning all. I finally get a day away from work, and I plan to not do anything.
(My Model Railroad, My Rules)
These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
hon30critter told him to just be himself.
.
This is the advice that EVERY young person should listen to. Once I stopped trying to be "cool" and just be myself, I had better friends, I was happier, and life worked out well.
Never try to be something you are not. It is a lie and a waste of time.
-Kevin
Living the dream.
NWP SWPjust thought it might've had something to do with some people having lost patience with me..
A couple of people have lost patience with you. So what?!? That is not your fault. You have no control over what others will say. You do have control over how you react to their negativity. Don't let them limit your participation.
The young fellow in our club who has Autism explained to me how he has learned to get along in society despite his challenges. He told me that another friend who also has Autism told him to just be himself. Forget about being worried about what impression you may make on others. You can't control their reactions to you so just be yourself and ignore those who won't respect you. Before his friend offered that advice he (Steven is his name too) was on a downward slope and had pretty much given up on being able to participate in society. Now he is an active member, not only in the model railroad club, but he has tons of friends on the Internet, and he volunteers for both the Fire Department and the Police Department when they have public open houses. He also knows most of the local bus drivers and several of them encourage him to ride along on their routes. Bottom line is that he seems to have developed a lot of self confidence by just being himself.
I'm not trying to preach, nor am I trying to over simplify your situation. I do want to encourage you to be confidant in what you do!
Cheers!!
I'll have one or two of those drinks if you don't mind too.
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Ok thanks, just thought it might've had something to do with some people having lost patience with me... drinks are on the house...
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
NWP SWPI hope the fact that I opened the diner this month isn't causing a boycott or something?
Steven: That is absolutely not happening! You did a fine job of opening the Diner. You will likely get asked to do it again.
Little TimmyAre those Woodland Scenics Cat's
Yep, sure enough. I was in a dilemma about using a crawler machine since these guys get dropped into the ore-hold of the boat. In later years they used rubber-tired Payloaders and you can't find decent models of these in HO.
Lo-and-behold I found an old photo that shows a Cat crawler being hoisted onto the deck of an ore boat! That made my quest for a bucket-loader much easier.
Hulett_PM53 by Edmund, on Flickr
I'm going to rig one of these into the bucket leg just like the photo shows and have the other three sitting on the deck.
Hey, Just saw the photo of your machine, Little Timmy. That thing looks like it should have Fred Flintstone operating it Nice job!
Neat stuff!
Evening All! Flo (or whoever's handy), could I get a chicken club sandwhich on wheat with some raspberry iced tea? Thank you so much.
As to the popup complaints, I don't know how it works on phones, but for my laptop I have an ad blocker that seems to take care of all of those problems.
Railfanning: This morning as I was getting a few errands done, I finally got to see our local rail repair facility's newest engine. It is a 60+ year old GMD GP9. (For those who don't know that particular designation, that means it is a GP9 that was built in Canada.) I have been putting a pictoral history together for the boss who happens to be a friend of mine and as much into rail history as I am. I just haven't gotten a picture of it in its current paint. I found out later that I should be able to get some good pictures of it next Monday as it is parked in front of the office when the operators go to lunch. (Permission shouldn't be a problem for the above mentioned reason.)
Hobby Front: Got yet another box of stuff this morning: The sheets of cork that were ordered to cover the areas for the yards. Hopefully the weather holds so that I can get the new section of layout built or at least get the deck and the framework cut.
I wont "boycott" the Diner..... unless you stop serving Bourbon. L O L !
Rust...... It's a good thing !
Gmpullman
Are those Woodland Scenics Cat's ? I have built more of those than I can count !
Evening all....
I will have a piece of Pumpkin pie, with whipped cream..... and a chocolate shake.
No computor issues for me..... but my wife keep's getting "Viagra spam".
Spent the last 3 hour's salvaging pictures I "hurredly" downloaded from Photobucket last july. I put them ALL in one file and they got jumbled together in an awful mess. So I "Ignored" them untill now.
The good new's is I found a LOT of H.O. scale stuff that I thought I lost when I told Photo bucket where they could go..... and just what they could do when they got there !
Anywhooooo..... It was a "balmy" 72 here at the Demon's Hollow today. Not trying to "rub it in" but the foul weather the rest of the state's are experencing is the reason I moved as far south as I could.
( That and the fact that if/ when the world come's to an end, it's only a 10 minute walk to South America ! )
I would like to post some of the picture's i retrieved but I'm not sure which part of the forum "completed" models should be posted in.
Any suggestion's ? I wont post them all (300 +) ... just a few of each.
Aw - Heck ! Pumpkin pie for EVERYBODY !
Ed, the interwebs are acting up over here to getting weird redirects to "clean your Samsung now" "update samsung cleaner now" "you have won a free gift card" "you have won a smartphone" the list goes on... if I try to back out and get back to the MR website it's just an endless cycle of those scams/virus sites... maybe it has something to do with net neutrality... hopefully it's not a problem on my end...
Evenin' Folks
The interweb seems to be acting up in my neck o' the woods.
I keep getting odd "unable to resolve server host" warnings on some sites yet others are working lightning fast?
Not at all, Steven. I think many of us are on Holiday Burnout and we're catching our breath, or is it the mid-January doldrums?
Well, I'm painting some HO Caterpillar D8 crawlers for my ore unloaders then it's off to some other project.
CAT_Hulett by Edmund, on Flickr
It finally got barely above freezing here for a few hours. Maybe in the 50s by Friday.
Cheers, Everyone! Ed
Evening folks, quiet here in the diner tonight, where is everybody???
I hope the fact that I opened the diner this month isn't causing a boycott or something?
Well nothing to report on the modeling front...
Well the weather for Walong, CA tonight is rain with a temp 51° as a high and a low of 48° tommorow is more rain and a high of 54° and a low of 40° well I wouldn't go out on the observation decks with the high wind advisory...
Batman, thanks for your words... that is one of the troubles of Aspergers I look normal enough that no one understands the fact there is a disability there...
Interesting fact about the song Under The Boardwalk is that it was the inspiration for the song Innocent Man...
I have CSP SP Vintage West it is a very good video as well as Pentrex SP Cab Forward Collection...
This summer the diner should go to Donner Pass, just a suggestion...
angelob6660 Brent- That tree looks very similar. With the starter G Scale train set with hacked up branches.

Just next years model Angelo. I find it makes less mess cutting off the branches and tucking them in the green bin. If I carry the tree through the house it is a real mess. It only takes a short time to clip the branches off.

Since we're at Tehachapi, how about watching some TRAINS!
Have Fun...
Great Stuff...

P.S. Get your orders in! The tab's on me
Steven Otte. . .If you have a smartphone, look for a free app called Our Groceries. . .
That's awesome! Installing it today.

Brent .. Your photo of the tree remidns me of Charlie Brown's tree.
Jim UP831 .... thanks for commenting... I think using push pins is helpful in the process of laying track.
MLC ... Thanks to you too for commenting.
Good morning it is 1156hrs on the West Coast, 7c in the rain.
Crawlspace is dry so I guess we can breathe a little easier. The restoration company finished Friday and our Crawlspace looks shiny and new. Has been sprayed to prevent any mold that may rear its ugly head.
NWP SWP/Steven, you just hang tough when people are riding you hard on some of these threads. It reminds me of when I would coach kids sports, the kids were having fun and everyone played the same amount of time regardless of skill. Some ( a very few ) parents thought we were playing for the Stanley Cup and thought only the best players on the team should play, especially in close games. Managing twenty kids that ran the spectrum as far as behaviour went was a breeze compared to dealing with some of the parents. When you inform them that you are coaching their kids as a volunteer and try and hand them the clipboard and suggest they are welcome to take over at any time, the ingrates usually come up with a sorry excuse rather than a solution for the shortage of volunteers.
Steven, you have guts for presenting your Aspergers syndrome to the forum and I think people should educate themselves before passing judgment and /or responding the way they do. I wonder if these people would treat you the same if you had a physical condition rather than a mental one. You have a friend here so stick around awhile.
Well, I took the Tree down this morning and tucked it into the green bin.
The Costco Genetically enhanced tree that tells you when it's time.
For those that just can't let go.
The kid got back to the University earlier than expected as the plane was doing well in excess of a 1000kmh all the way. He shared a cab to the University with two others on the same flight so saved there as well. He put $6800.00 in my bank account this morning even though I said we would pay his tuition and board for this term, he would have none of it. I will save it for him and give it back to him when he gets married or buys a house or is short on cash for some reason. It is already in a term deposit and when the market collapses again it is ready to buy up the spoils.
Glad things are starting to warm up for you "Easterners" I don't think my old bones could take livin back there. Thanks for the beer Jim, the next round is on me.
All the best to all.
Good afternoon diners!good afternoon Diners,
Brunhilda, I'll have an extra large coffee with lots of cream, please. And, set up a round of for Ken and the gang. Oh, and an IV for Galaxy. Ginger ale for those too young to buy. I learned that from a friend in high school. He said he wasn't too young to drink, just too young to buy. Go figure.
Hooray! The brutally cold weather is gone,......for the moment! I'm sure it'll be back. Anyway, a break is ways welcome.
Garry: interesting use of push pins. I'm sure they work quite well.
Nothing to report MRR wise.
Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone isOK, safe, and warm.

Steven Otte howmus Heartland Division CB&Q Ricky ... I know what you mean about forgetting what you need when you are at the store. Eventually, you will get the glue. I generally make a list of what I need... I sometimes forget to take it with me, and almost always foget to put three or four items that I really need on the list. Usually remember them right after I get home..... I know technology is not the answer for everyone, and even as tech-savvy as I like to think I am I still had to be dragged into doing this by the wife... as she likes to remind me, she's always right... If you have a smartphone, look for a free app called Our Groceries. It lets you set up multiple named lists (for separate stores, or categories of store like "Groceries" or "Hardware" or "Train Stuff", or for special lists like "Thanksgiving Dinner," or for whatever you want to name your lists). You can put the items on each list into different categories like Dairy or Produce, so you can easily see everything you need from that department while you're in that aisle. These lists are shared, "in the cloud," so you and your wife can both add or delete items from the lists dynamically and the changes will show up on the other's phone (say you get a craving for cheese doodles while the wife is at the store, you can just add it to the list). In my opinion the best thing about the app is it's Alexa-compatible, so if you have an Amazon Echo like we do, you just say, "Alexa, tell Our Groceries to add milk to the Aldi list," and she'll do it. (Alexa has her own shopping list function, but it's not as versatile.) When we plan out the dinner menu for the week I just stand there with my head in the fridge and yell out ingredients, and Alexa puts them on the list. Now we never forget what we went to the store for.

Here in northern Virginia, it's supposed to finally get above freezing today which is nice. High forcast for 40 degrees. My car is covered with white stuff from the roads when I drove up to Binghamton NY (Owego) to visit my daughter so maybe I'll be able to wash some of that off!
Cheers
Rio Grande. The Action Road - Focus 1977-1983
Good "above freezing finally" morning. 38F out here in the wilds of W KY.
Garry: looking good on the layout.
Going to be a mild shakeup at work this morining. I know about it an advance but no one else knows.
It will not be a bad thing, but some will not like it. They promoted our boss to regional manager and promoted my cross cube mate to our manager, bypassing the person who has been here 30 years. The 30 year person however is not manger material and I am glad they bypassed him. Not sure how the rest will take it as this will change our on call schedule again. I am glad for my cube mate I just hope she survives.
Evening diners, haven't stopped in a while... I'll take a warm Apple Fritter, and a glass of warm milk with some sugar...
Ed, I'll send you a friend request so you can PM me... (safeguard against naysayers or "trolls")
Ken, thanks for your comment, I'll send you a friend request too...
I believe someone mentioned panic attacks??? I also suffer from minor ones time to time and also have "background" anxiety in general comes with the whole aspergers/ocd thing...
Didn't someone mention Gordon Lightfoot? I listen to two of his songs the Edmund Fitzgerald, and if you could read my mind...
Here's a tune that might help us warm up!
Well good luck in the cold, glad the rotary stayed on Donner and didn't come here and throw snow all over the diner...
Eveing Diners.
Flo, Henery, Angelob, Little Tim, Mr B, Inch, Galaxy, Brent, Jan, Ray, Up 831 and I will have a cold and give Steve O, Steaven, and Rick a RBF please. And leave a stein outside for Ulrich.
Today Sucks Rail Spikes As Far As Weather And Work. It is 33 degress outside and raining. This is the first day above freezzing in about 15 days. Weather Guessers where calling for frezzing rain so it was slow at work, only one customer!
Was I lonely? Heck No, Nancy Still Showed Up! I had been feeling bad about telling the company after 2/24/2018 I would not work any more weekends. With the help of Nancy, I am over that now!
Gary, all I can say is Wow.
Henery Best wishes for the wife!
Good Luck Galaxy!
Ed Dang I was hoping to be able to give back for a change.
Well the BBQ is done, so later.
Ken
I hate Rust
Evening Diners,
Henry- Sorry about your wife.
Garry- Nice process on your railroad.
FRRYKid- It's always nice to find useful junk that nobody whats.
Jimmy- I radder have GP38-2.
For some time I thought of building a small oval of track with simple scenery around my 22 inch T.V. I was going to use my 9_3/4 inch curves and a tunnel in the back, unfortunately the small track plan was to big for the dresser where it sits by 2 inches. I wasn't planning to buy smaller curve radius that might run my 0-6-0T and small 40' cars.
I just need to finish my desert layout that has stopped because of paint.
I tried my hand on dry brushing for the first time. It's was very difficult. Different strokes of paint was too thin or too heavy. Probably doing it outside wasn't a good idea, since it made me want to rush.
Howdy ...
Henry .... Prayers for Mrs. Henry as she undergoes chemo.
Ed .... That is a remarkable photo of the water tank that fell onto a locomotive. "Grampy" has been missing from this forum as well as the forum across the street for a long time. Sometimes, I have asked if anyone knows where he is, but nobody has replied to me. I never saw him particpating in the Diner.
I finally had some model railroading time after being interrupted for a couple of weeks. Currently, I am installing tracks in my corner which will have my 1900 era buildings and structures.
In this photo, you can see I use push pins to make a "rough draft" of the trackwork. Next, I will get it alligned correctly. Then, I can install with track nails. I'm hoping to start the scenery in a couple of days.
