Originally posted by wes454 I'd settle just for the models BLI has already announced! I'm not happy that the ATSF 2-10-2's got pushed back again...I'm beginning to think I'll be lucky to get them by 2005 You said a mouthfull, allthough my perefrences allways lean more towards steam,I have been waiting for their release of the sw series of switchers.I think Bli made a big mistake pushing back their release in favor of higher priced steam units. Also their release of the Alco rsd15 ,I would buy one no matter ,but the fact that being an Alco unit it will sound different than say their the rest of their emd diesels,is without a dought the most attractive feature for me.I would like to see in the comming year specific sound for each type of engine, not just the same sound system covered by a different shell.Bli's sound bite for the sw sounds to me just like the one for their E's except for the horn. The compound will only have four exhaust strokes per revolution, wheras the simple should have eight. The compound would also sound slightly softer, at least that's the way I remember them. In simple mode, the 2-8-8-2 would have 4 sharp and 4 softer chuffs per revolution. Of course, a lot of the hard vs. soft differences may be evened out somewhat depending on the smokebox and interior exhaust layout. You need to listen to some of O. Winston Link's recordings. Very good stuff. Oh, and over time the simple engines 8 chuffs should drift to 4 chuffs, and then back to 8 and so on, because they did run slightly out of phase. The BLI Class A does this beautifully. What could have happened.... did.
