Good Morning!

It cleared up somewhat over night, so at least it´s going to be a bright day! I won´t be able to do much on my layout, as we have someone coming to install smoke detectors in our apartment. It´s a good thing I have given up smoking Laugh

I bet it is going to be a heck of a clean-up job to do when those folks are through with the installation.

I found two stunning videoa on Youtube, which I would like to share with you. The first one shows a guy riding a bike on an HO scale layout.

The second one shows a tremendously detailed urban transit system layout.

Enjoy watching them!

Ulrich great job on painting the rocks.  I would add a few weeds here and there.

BO you're on more drugs than I am!  Carvedilol is what knocks my pulse down, 41 on Sunday.  I thought I was titrating it pretty well based on my BP & HR, but it snuck up on me.

YGW bourbon is my favorite pain med

Stripped the paint off a caboose with 91% alcohol.  At 3 days it look like nothing was happening but a little scrubbing with a tooth brush and 90% of the paint came off.  Another 2 days of scrubbing got me to 100%

My colors are orange and blue.  I have another caboose in a dark red (paint mix long forgotton but probably Floquil mix)  Should I go with orange or blue?

This is a dark blue but I've decided to use a brighter lighter blue in the future for photographic considerations.  I don't want to do a stripe, because the next caboose will be the other color. I'd love to get a undec Spring Mills Depot caboose

What is that I am wearing ? Oh you mean the arm sling, the leg cast, the head dressing, crutches and ice pack ? That is from the beating I took today ! I think this week ends run of bad luck rolled on into Monday. I was glad to get back to w**k until I got up this morning. Recieved my first nasty gram email at 6am. Then the stuff hit the fan and kept blowing all day. A vender failed to show up, the VP came out and was grouchy and kicked butt all over the place ( maybe he slept with the mutts too this weekend ??) , My plumber handed me an extra first thing this morning laughing as he requested a signature then he had the gaul to wave the stinking Dallas football star in front of me Ick!!!! , Site inspector showed up belly aching, one the kids threw up in the car all over the place and I had to leave w**k in mid crisis to take her home. SighSigh

Oh and to add insult to injury my wife comes home and ask "so what did you break now ! " Surprise

Angel wrote " My favorite hobby store raised their shipping $0.80 more. I have trouble buying things at $8.95 but now $9.75" Angel one of the things the few LHS around here that are still in buisness will order and offer free shipping. Of course you have to come to their stores to order and PU.

Bear - Not that my vote counts but I think the first one is pretty neat.

UP831 - I am almost finsihed with the laundry room. Little more drywall. Tack some trim that I precut and then caulk, putty and paint !

Garry - LOL ! Thats the day I had.

V8 - I know you know this but I am gonna pass on an old phrase the ole timers used to say to me - " looks dont last but cooking and cleaning do" There is a little bit of wisdom there.  Yes look matter for a while. But what really last is her devotion to God ( sound like she has a head start there ) her faithfulness to you and her God, if these things are in line then everything else will fall into place. Years ago our Pastor showed us this traingle. At the top of the triangle was God. On the bottom left was the husband and on the bottom right of the traingle was the wife. As the husband and wife moved closer to God the distance between the two mates became less this they grew closer. If they moved away from God the distance between them grew greater. Thus they grew apart. That is the key to a joyful relationship, move closer to God and your life will have blessings poured out that your house cannot contain.

BO Cylinder - Working on and in the ceiling is a real pain in the caboose ! Glad my wires were mostly in the wall.

Galaxy - chin up my friend life does get better and congrats on teh generosity of FIL

Ulrich - hope the adjustment on the water thing works.

Ken - Howdy I will send a PM with my number as soon as I can.

Lion - Never did explain why Lions need plates or how the big kitties was with paws ? Huh? never seen a helix with four tracks. Thats amazing.

Anyone seen Jeremy ?

Guys I am gonna hobble over into the corner, prop the ole leg cast, move teh ice pack to the elbow, drink a cup of cold water and down a couple of aspirin to help relieve some of the pain. Ouch !

Afternoon Diners,

I noticed today when I was going to get track. My favorite hobby store raised their shipping $0.80 more. I have trouble buying things at $8.95 but now $9.75

I decided a few days ago last week to change my layout. I was looking at the past past MR layouts and found one in HO Scale in the Dec 1992 called the NH Berkshire Division. It had a good outline for single and double mainline. I'm still thinking of redesigning the town size and operating situation.

MrB: I am on a bunch of things here. Amiodorone, Toloxin, Coversyl, Carvedilon, Coumerin, Spironolactone, Furosemide, Atorvastatin, and at least two other things... oh, and 0.8 mg Nitro patches.... so for me it can be all of them mixing it up. Whistling

OK, so it's not apparently a WORD margin issue - so here's the photo I wanted to show with the lean-to greenhouse.

Just re-posting from WORD to test the margins.

MisterBeasley
Oddly, I do not have this problem with anyone's posts, except for yours. I'm guessing that something you're doing with Word is resetting the internal margins on the page. Try just typing in a few lines without Word to see what happens.

Roger that - I was wondering if the image size has anything to do with it. Let me post one that I've got on Photobucket after we see how this plain text post functions. I'm alos going to copy this text into WORD and repost it here, if you guys can bear with me - I would like to get this sorted.

The red train and the pair of tracks below it are on the helix, or is it a nolix, or maby a combilix. The loops are about 14' long. Above the red train is a pair of tracks going up which make another helix going up to the upper level.

This is the other helix. On the 'back-40' the 4 track main line is alread gone up four inches before it arrives at the 34th Street Station. This helix takes it up to almost the middle level and the Prospect Park station. There is a little more up grade between the Prospect station and the Parkside Avenue station on the middle level of the back 40.

Morning everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes Organic Cereal and a pot of Café Justo Dark Roasted coffee to start the day today...

According to the Weather Channel Online it is currently 36°F outside with a high today of 28°F.  Yep!  That is what it says.  Oh, If I go to the hourly chart it says it is 27°F with a high of 28° this afternoon.....  It also says it is cloudy outside which doesn't appear to jive with the shadows from the trees and the sunshine coming in my windows this morning....  Hmmmmmm....

Ulrich, bummer on the Realistic Water pour!  I have gone to using Envirotex Lite for my water scenes after having some issues with the WS stuff not drying properly (stayed tacky, so I just used the Envirotex Lite over it)

Have to get moving...  I have a long list of STUFF to get done by tomorrow night.  Catch you all later!

I did find one thing though. My heart rate was down to 33 last night.

I'm not sure about that one.  Are they giving you Atenolol for your blood pressure, by any chance?  Atenolol is what's called a "beta blocker" and it controls your blood pressure by slowing your heart rate.  Now, this may be entirely fine in whatever condition your condition is in, but when I was on that stuff for a few months it made me feel extremely lethargic.

Ulrich, how thick did you pour that Realistic Water?  All of those products should be done in multiple thin pours rather than a single thick pour.  Cracking can be a result of trying to do too much with a single pour.

I think I get my new tooth today.  This was one of those "dental implant" things.  An old broken tooth was removed, and once that healed up a bit a metal implant went in to replace it.  That had "bone graft powder" around it to stimulate natural re-growth of bone around the implant.  After allowing about 6 months, I was fitted for a new tooth which will attach to the implant, and the new tooth is now ready.  The whole process was kind of an uncomfortable ordeal, and was incredibly expensive, pretty much using up all my dental coverage would pay for both last year and this year.  Oddly enough, my wife is going through the same thing on the same tooth at the same time.

Lunchtime in Germany!

Brunhilda, make that a big fat cheeseburger and greasy fries, please. Coffee to wash it down would be nice as well, thank you!

Galaxy - I know that life has been rough and tough for you lately, but please stop contemplating life, as you will miss it while doing so. Whatever your credo is, it is nowhere written that life shall be an easy one. I know that brighter days will come for you!

That said, back to MRRing!

The WS Realistic Water cured nicely over night, so it seems to be still fit for future use! There is one more water feature to do, but it will be similar to the one I did yesterday, which looks like this:

Sorry for the picture being a little too dark, but I didn´t want to use the flash. I think the river looks OK.

I used a mix of leftover latex paints to get a sort of grey which I used to paint the road and the platform. I don´t know yet whether I´ll leve it that way or re-do it. For the moment I am glad there is no plywood-look to the layout!

Painting the bridge must be next!

Have a great one!

Edit: I just found out that my "Realistic Water" shows some cracks! Bang Head  Guess I have to cover them up with WS Water Effects, which is nothing else than clear acrylic gel.

Here I sit FAT, DUMB and contemplating life.....

Train Nut friend was over yesterday most of the afternoon. His wifey went to her aunt's funeral, he couldn't bear to go to. OS he is alone, which he admits is not good for him, os he came over. He still doesn't sleep well, as he says every time he closes his eyes, he sees Christian Hanging there dead. Wednesday Night, Hopefully I get him the "FOr those left behind" support group at General Hosptial, IF I can find out WHERE in the hospital it is. I think he will be over today and tomorrow too, as he will be alone both days.

FIL stopped by UNANNOUNCED {GRRR} while Train nut friend was here. He annoys the heck out of us whne he does that, but he is being NOSEY whe he does that.

Gidday All, it’s been a while so it’s about time the drinks are on me, Chloe, if you’d be so kind.
A very belated reply to DER5997. I fully concur with you on reason behind Yorkshire Puddings, “I understand from my time in the North East of England that the original idea of YPs was to fill up the “working man” with something other than the expensive and hard to obtain meat. The time-frame would considerably pre-date wartime rationing.”
And out of curiosity I googled and found there was reference to “Yorkshire Pudding” by name in a recipe book from 1747. A lot earlier than I had thought but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

What did surprise me that as a Commonwealth country “Hot English Mustard” isn’t available as such!

Ahhhh the flag debate!! I had better be careful though while I’m sure that Cousin Vinnie doesn’t know much about New Zealand politics, I still don’t wish to have a tire iron wrapped around my noggin.
The proposed flag change is a personal project of our Prime Minister, a self made man who worked in the US before he went into politics, and believes the reason that we do not have our flag on display as much as the US is because we’re not proud of it. Actually we just don’t wear our patriotism on our “sleeve”. He also has had the misfortune of having had the Australian flag flown whilst on official occasions overseas and on visiting the New Zealand WW I Graves in Flanders noticed that the headstones are engraved with the Silver Fern, which also happens to be the symbol of our rugby team and with a black background is used by many NZ sports supporters.

The New Zealand flag is on the left, the Australian flag on the right.

The preferred flag, by 1.16%, from the first referendum, with a voter turnout of 49% is the one on the left.

Unfortunately I suspect the debate is going to get very ugly; for various reasons, the Prime Minister not wishing to lose face, the small but vocal Republican movement sensing a chance, and those, who so far appear to be in the minority, think it’s time we “rebranded” our country.
Its only just started but already we’re getting bombarded by ex politicians, celebrities and sports stars inferring that not changing is akin to be unpatriotic. I’m afraid that we are not going to see much balance.
I was never in favour of changing the flag, and the 26 million $ that’s being spent, I’m proud of what we’ve got and having seen them both flying together have not changed my mind. In fact my university attending daughter is of the opinion that the preferred option looks like a tea towel.

Speaking of which, when I wash the dishes, I scrape clean and rinse with warm  water, then wash with very hot water and a small squirt of dish washing liquid (Palmolive as it keeps my hands soft and smooth Smile, Wink & Grin), and then air-dry in a rack. Of course the Coriolis force as the water goes down the plug hole in a clockwise direction helps keep the sink extra clean!Whistling

Having glanced through the Diner windows and seen all the walking and none walking wounded in here, I realise that a flag debate in a small Pacific nation of 4.6 million people is of little consequence, so.....
Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them.
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

Good Evening Diners,

Brunhilda, I'll have an Earl Grey tea with cream and honey, please.

Well, I finally was able to scan my old b+w RR pics and save them as jpegs, hence the new improved avatar.  Now, if I can only find a way to economically convert my slides.  The avatar is of a grain elevator taken either 1961-2or3.  The structure is no longer there.  However, it made a very brief cameo in opening scenes of the movie "Picnic."

YGW:  best of luck with that laundry project from a guy who can turn an hour faucet install into an entire afternoonBig SmileBig Smile.

Ken:  what ever happened to the "Buick Guy" you used to by a beer for?

Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Hey all

Hope your weekend has gine better than mine. Geez, what started out as a simple remodel of the laundry room has turned into a nightmare project. First the dryer line clogged completely shut. Installed incorrectly. Had to install a new line. Then there were two plumbing lines in the way. Got that fixed. Next part was to relocate a door that bumped another door every time it opened. In the process of that I cut a electric wire ! To fix that required removal of a lot of drywall. In my haste I didn't cover the floor or my wife's dryer and washer ( new ones ) so I guess me and the mutt will be keeping company the next few evenings. Momma ain't happy !
