Morning Crew,
We had a nice gathering at my sister-in -laws business place for the do-nut making event and Thanksgiving Dinner last evening. there was about 20 of us. Great food for all but me. Great do-nuts for all but me. I guess I can say much the same as Lion, "Oh poor me" But at least I'm not in the Horsepital.
Br. Elias, I am sorry to hear of your accident, but rumour has it, you were up the ladder signing "nearer my God to Thee" Sure hope you heal well and quick. That Subway system will be in a state of caoss this morning and until you get back there again. Prayers and Blessings be with you Brother.
Nothing much to report on. I do have the day off, then work two and then we are off again to the Big Sky Country for a week. Trying to get ahead of the ugly weather we ran into last year at American Thansgiving.
Going down to my Son's shop here today as I need a front hub changed out on my truck and he said he would do it for me when the shop was closed for the day.
It was an absolutley lousey day here yesterday. Wind gusts up over the 90 Kms and raining most of the day. It was ugly on the highway last night coming home, but it seems to have blowen itself out overnight and I guess CN Charlie and Blind Bruce will be enjoying it today.
I guess I had better go and get my day started by getting some nourishment down the ol' tube. Think I will thin out some oatmeal this morning with brown sugar and cinnamon even though I don't really get to taste it. Makes one feel a little better knowing that memory of what it used to taste like and now it is in your belly.
Ulrich, sure good to hear from you and look forward to seeing your accomplishments.
Ray H., I don't think I know anybody that keeps himself as busy as you do. In a way I envy you and in another way I just get tired listening to all the things you do and places you have to be. Stay healthy my Friend.
Enjoy Columbus Day, for all of you south of the imaginary line, even though the Indians and the Vikings really beat him to it.
Galaxy light a candle for Br. Elias please, and Garry send the Chapel Car over to Billings (I think) so that the Lion can be more comfortable. BNSF should be able to accomodate you on that. Tack it on to the rear of a "Frac" Train. Thanks..
Johnboy out................for a while.

Good morning. I'll have Tim Hortons coffee and a TH donout to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. ... Canadians, have a great day.
Lion!...... I'm sorry to hear about the accident. Prayers for you. I hope you can keep us informed.
Ken .... Glad you called 911. If it were me, I would have said he should have been arrested. Public drunkenness is a violation of the law. Enough is enough.... I suggest you talk to your boss and respectlfully request Dave be fired. Tell them you sincerely care about your job and always do your best to do well. Tell them it is not fair to you to have this bum as a coworker. Suggest they hire somebody else. There are plenty of good people looking for a job, and they should hire one. ... My
Been a bit busy lately, but hope tp get the the model railroad later today.

Zoe, ah..... No Marrakesh Express Dark Roast this morning? Oh, your making a fresh pot... OK, I'll wait.
Went over to my son's house for home made Lassagna last night. His MIL is a good cook! I brought a large chunk of it home for sometime this week. I will probably freeze it as i have some leftovers in the fridge I need to use up. My son has just about finished rebuilding my old wood rack at the end of his driveway. He was able to use parts of my old steel shed as a roof. Only has to get a couple 1" x 4"s to support the roof a bit more and it should server him well. He was in a very good good mood last night. He got a new job that he starts today. He will be running a machine at a company that makes weatherstripping in Farmington, NY. He says he already feels better about this one as he will be making a product that is good for the enviroment rather than packing plastic bottles! He will be working second shift so he will be able to get the girls off the bus right before he leaves for work. His wife gets home from school about a half hour later.
I did a bit more on the Girders for the bridge last night.
A Happy "What's his Name's Day" to those of us South of the Border, and a Wonderfull Thanksgiving to all you folks North of the Border today. My favorite true story about Columbus Day goes back to when I was first teaching Music in Chemung Elementary School around 1970. A combined first and second grade class came into my room and little Johnny, a first grader, sat in his seat and kept giggling..... I asked him what was so funny, and he said "nothing".... giggle, giggle, giggle. This kept going on for while and I finally raised my voice and told him to cut it out! A little girl came up to me and said, "Mr. Howard, our teacher just told us that Columbus discovered America." I said, So!? She then told me that Johnny's an Indian! He could figure it out already.... I haven't been the same since!
I just good a call from the paving company to let me know all the required paperwork and inspections have been done and the owner will contact me to set the date for the work to be done. YES!
Brother Elias, so sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you will have an easy recovery and someone will bring you models to work on during your stay at the HorsePiddle... Prayers for you Lion!
Hope you all have a great day!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Good Afternoon!
Not yet 5 pm and the sun is setting already I don´t mind Fall and Winter, but I do mind the darkness which comes with those seasons! Living up north has its merits, but also drawbacks!
The time sans computer will have an end in a few days. My son will mail me his GF´s old laptop computer. It´s as old as mine was, so it won´t be there to stay for long, but it helps until I´ve come up with a better solution.
In the meantime, I just run a train or two over my tiny layout - very therapeutic!
Lion - healing are on their way to you!
G-Man - I hope your shoulder will improve soon!
`puter time is about up now - CU all tomorrow!
Lion,
Sorry to hear about Your misfortune Lion....Hope everything turns out OK....Keep us posted if You can, let us know where to send the wildebeast snacks....leave the nurses alone.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Good Morning, folks. Just some black coffee for me, please.
Yesterday we went with friends on a Leaf-Peeping tour of mid New Hampshire. The colers were great, but they were spotty - as in, 'Not Peak" yet; a good frost and a few days and they will be. Some were very bright. We picked up a couple of pumpkins at a farm store east of Meredith. Lot of folks out enjoying the beautifulday. Had a nice lunch at a different diner in sight of the Lake.
In the course of our travels we passed the Alton Bay station on Lake Winnepesaukee, several 'Depot Roads', tracks that once connected the Conways to Dover, and the old Wolfeboro RR tracks in Wakefield where they (used to) cross NH-16.
Nice day, all told.
Mr. Mick
Good Evening Diners,
Brunhilda, I'll have an Earl Grey tea with cream and honey, please.
Another week of the national obsession; however this week I got to watch my Chiefs lose to "Da Bears" and made MOH happy. Hope my other team, the Chargers does well tomorrow.
Ken: I feel for you in your plight. It's obvious that this individual has some serious problems and needs professional help. I feel pity for him because if everything you say is true, then he's on a downward spiral into a dark abyss.
Not a bit good!
V8Dennis: I fried my 850 Fiat going over Sepulveda Pass in much the same situation. The car never worked right after that.
Nothing to report on th MRR front today.
i hope everyone. Is OK and safe.

Evening Dinners
Flo a please but no more than 3 OK.
Boy, I feel beat up today! Don't know if it was from this morning or work.
Yard Front I was out there cutting and fighting with the vines and trees for a good 2 hours. While I got a lot of stuff cut down, it is a very small dent comparied to what I need to get done.
Work Front and Drunk Dave. I got to work on time, but no Dave? I had my first customer come in at 12:20 or so (it was a good one I will add, made $105.00) and still no Dave.
Guess who came staggering in at 12:40 PM? And I do mean STAGGERING! Yep, Dave and he was drunk as a skunk! Handed him the phone and told him to call Paul, he knows you are late. He was so drunk he could not figuer out how to use the phone! I finsh with my customer around 1:30 while Dave was hidding in the break room drinking coffee.
I called Paul and Nancy around 1:35 and both Nancy and Paul said to tell Dave to Go Home. I explain to them he was to drunk to drive! Nancy told me to having him call his wife and pick him up and leave the store and wait for her.
I comfronted Dave and told him that Nancy said to call his wife to pick him up and leave the store and waite. He called me a liar, I just want the store! Called Nancy on the speaker phone and asked "what do you want me to tell Dave"? Nancy repeted what she told me and Dave heard it. Then she asked to speak to Dave.
Dave then acted (will get to this part again) he called his wife. But he would not leave the store! I again told him he had to leave the store, he could not waite in the store!
Then he said I am going to meet her half way home. Told him Dave, if you leave this parking lot I am calling 911! Just pull yor Van in back and waite, but if you don't leave the store I am calling 911 and have you removed! His answers was Go a head and call 911! So I Did!
While I was talking with the Dispatcher Dave unpluged the phone! That got them there is a hurry. Dave told them when they got there is wife was on the way. One of Officer asked me if I wanted him arrested? I said no, just out of the store and not driving. They made Dave call home again, this time he got his son (I feel bad about that) and it turned out his wife was not even home.
Turns out he just left a message on the machine and no ride was coming, he lied to the Police. They took him to the station house to waite for his wife. I asked them to make him give me his key, did not want him back in the store after I left. Seems his wife never got the message or she is done with him. At 4:00 Pm I saw the police drop him off a few stores down. At 5:03 when I left, his Van was still in the parking lot of my store.
I feel bad for him but dang it I am done working with him!
Ken, having a rotten day!
I hate Rust
Johnboy!
ALWAYS good to see you sir!
AnD lest I forget on my way to the MRI tomorrow, HAPPY THANKS GIVING to those NOrht ofour common border!
Now, I was thinking, wouldn't it be NICE if we could help Ulrich get a newer Laptop? I am reminded of a kind soul here who sent Jeffrey a brand new tablet while he was in the hospital having his foot removed.
CAn't help everybody I guess. Would be nice though.
too bad we can't set up a "Capital {train}Car" or "banking car" in which we could contribute what we wnat/can and then lend/give it out to thse who have small needs here! Every one who recives, will pay back some/all or contribute a bit more than they would normally {call it interest} and all could benefit.
It would ahve been nice to also help Ken wiht his car or fence problem. I could use an exra sum to help wiht closing costs.
Hmm, what an idea, but would probaly never fly...
Well, ahve a good night..
dinner time a little late toninght but roast, mac salad, carrot salad,
see yall tomorrow!
Just got off work and even though it was sunday we were extremely busy, the day went fast. Just getting out off the monkey suit and getting ready to go to my Wife's and her Siblings' Thanksgiving Supper. They keep this going even though their parents have past. Thanksgiving and Christmas they are always together. And last month they took a tour of GB. Ireland and France together.
I just wanted to stop in on the way and wish all our Canadian Diners a very Happy, Pleasant and Filling Thanksgiving day. And don't forget to give that Thanks too. We are very fortunate that we live in North America and lets do all we can to keep it Free and Safe. We have upcoming Elections on both sides of the 49th, make sure you know the issues, especially of protecting ourselves here at home and by that make the right choices for our Elected Members of Government. Sorry for the soap box issue, but I feel this is so very important as some of the Candidates don't seem to know whats going on in the World, and what they are talking about.
Glad to see Ulrich stopped by, and hope he gets his computer issue solved.
Must go now, hope to get back in later.
Best Wishes, to all the Turkey, Ham, Ribs conesureres (spelling) out there.
Johnboy out................Someone can have my portion as my supper will be flowing down my tube. HaHa. not really funny
.
wow. what a lovely day here near 70 mid-October. nice, but cooler is coming- only the 50s soon enough.
Well, dishes are mostly done {pots and pans remain} and the vacuuming is done, the laundry is all done. WHat else can i get into that won't tear my arm any more than the damage already there? Dunno
Can't wait for the MRI to be over with so I can get results. It is the regualr MRI, which they tell me takes half the time the "open MRI" does. There is not much difference inthe two, the regular is a circualr vertical tube like a donut on end, they put you in, and the Open is is like two pancakes stacked on to with you as the filler.
Doesn't matter, as it still is TOO CLOSE for my comfort being claustrophbic and all, but if the regular is FASTER, then I am all for it. I have had both, and don't really care for either. BUT I have seen the images form them and I know how vauluable that is!
So tomorrow I get Magnetized. GOod thing I have no metal in me!
Well, see y'all later.
Ulrich: It is good to hear from you. Please don't be a stranger.
Good morning ...
I brought country ham and biscuits. Enjoy !
Ulrich: ... Good to see you. We like it when you are in the Diner.

Sir Madog Good Morning! I am at my neighbor´s at the moment to check my emails. My computer died all of a sudden last Thursday and all my attempts to resuscitate it were in vain. After 6 1/2 years of good service it just died - the hard disc drive crashed. Fortunately I was able to back-up vital data before it did. It´ll take a while until I´ll be online again - I am looking for a good used laptop computer for nearly no $$$ at all - just can´t afford those about $ 300 a new one will cost. Hope to see you soon again! Edit: I nearly forget to tell you - Claus and I built the benchwork last Thursday and it is now resting snugly on the table. I´ve put up the track (not yet final, though) so I can run a train or two. I was able to send out my order of cork roadbed before the computer died. By end of next week, I should have done all the track work!

Ulrich! GOod to see you back, SIr!
Now This laptop I am on was only about $300 and its a DELL, a brand I tend to like as once upon a time my boss always provided me with one for working at home on. They have "mixed reviews" from me {one bad one over the years}, but they seem to be about as good as any.
I cna pick up an older refurbished model from aobut $125-150 on a site here in theUSA That has such things. i almost bought one, but then DELL had its "annual garage sale" I think htey called it. SO I goht this instead. I tend to use it often, more than hte desk top! I got it as a back up for the deslktop, which after what, 6 years, is giving us fits and starts. SInce MOH needs to do computer reports, we HAVE TO HAVE one! I'd get you one, but ours run on 110v, yours probably run on the 220v you guys use over there???
Glad to see you got your train set up set up. At least you will have somehting to keep you busy while you wait for the computer!
Well, PM me or email me if you need anyhting I can help with!

Guess who was Buzzed Today at work? I handled it a little deffently this time.
I told him Dave I know you have been drinking.
1 You have tells, when you been drinking you show up late, sober you are still late by a few minutes but not 15 minutes.
2 When you have been drinking, your hair is a mess! Sober, your hair is neat. First time I saw you after rehap you looked total driffrent.
3 When you have been drinking, your eyes lids sag. Sober your eyes look bright, not like you are falling a sleep.
4 When you have been drinking you talk slowly. Sober you speak quickley.
He claimed he had not been drinking, he just was a wake all night. Told him I did not beleive him! After seeing him sober it like he driffences between a Red Light and a Green Light and you have been drinking!
I all so said Dave, I am not going to call Paul about this as long as you don't refresh your Buzz today.
Little later we talked about some more, told him about how I am trying to stop drinking because I cannot afford it. All so how I try to find reasons I should be able to have a . Asked him if we was still going to AA, well he himed hauled around that so I guessing he is not.
He all so said he only drinks beer and never drinks at work! Well he lie about that one! I have had some pretty good beer buzzes in my life, but I have never had one that lasted 10 hours. I all so asked why is coffee smells funny last weekend, he said it was spolied? Asked about the cup that I found in the microwave last Friday, it smelled funny as well. (bet if I had put a match to it it would have burned) He had no answer for that one.
As he sobered we talked about a lot of things, his problems at home, old TV shows and movies and history. At the end of the day he said "Ken, you know you are a pretty nice guy".
Well, I will see if this helps him any with drinking at work. Tomorrow we will have another talk. This time I will flat tell him if he comes in Buzzed again I will send him home, he cannot fool me about his at work.

See you all before work Sunday.

Afternoon folks,
Chloe just a glass of Cherrypharm for me right now.
I have spent most of the day over in the Auburn, NY area getting a couple signatures for the petition. One gentleman wasn't home... I'm now thinking I was to meet him at his office (he is a dentist over there). Did stop and spent some $$$ on mor tropical fish and supplies to get the 20 gal. tank up and running. Fish are now floating in the 55 gal aquarium in tyhe bags. I will open up the bags and start exchanging the water as soon as I get this post done.
Just got an email from Ulrich. He said his computer is kaput and he has use of a neighbor's computer for a few minutes a day to check his email. He plans to be back here whenever he can get a working computer. i did tell him he has been very much missed.
Catch you all later.
Howdy ...
Speaking of Colorado, we rode on the Amtrak train round trip between Denver and Grand Junction several years ago. Below, is the eastbound train arriving in Grand Junction for our return trip.
This afternoon, we will be at the Ham Festival in town. Fun and Food !

Morning Folks!
Flo, big cup of coffee please.
Feeling a tad better today about the zoing mess I have. While I did not get to talk to the inspector that came to my house. I did speak with someone at there officess about the pool. She seems to think all I have to do is clean up the pool and get it covred, not remove it. Only way I would need to remove it is if it is damaged. A dirty water slump pump and tarp from Harbor Freight will set me back around $84.00 with a 20% off coupon I have.
I will talk with the inspector this coming Tuesday I hope and get some details about the stuff I have to cut down.
VA wants me to see a Psychologist? Hum, guess I should have never told my Dr I have Model Train's. Just kidding about that part, I think. I am 98% sure it has to do with me trying to stop smoking. I will have to give the Psychologist a call Tuesday and see what it is about.
See you all tonight.
PS, no last night.
Good evening to all. Two days ago I had an unexpected serendipity moment. My TomTom GPS directed me down SK Highway 33. After several miles of driving, we came upon a crude oil loading facility. An online search revealed that the facility is capable of loading 45,000 bls/day of crude oil in tank cars. Additionally, three SD-38-2 engines sat along the facility designated Stewart Southern Railway. Online search revealed this is a Saskatchewan short line founded by the Stewart interests as a grain hauler later to become a crude oil transporter to Regina for interlining with the CP. Very interesting to see how crude oil is handled into unit trains.
Travel has been uneventful, otherwise. Experienced a very pleasant INS agent upon entering the US.
Visiting my step-sister today and then closer to home tomorrow to spend a couple days at friend's bed and breakfast for a couple of days.
Johnboy, have you seen the Stoughton crude loading facility?
Jim
Let us continue our tour in Colorado:
The Georgetown Loop RR:
"Beginning in the late 1880s, the community and the Georgetown Loop become a tourist center for those who ventured West to encounter the wild ruggedness and romance. Tourism in the West develops around railroad excursions. With seven trains a day running out of Denver at the height of its popularity, the Georgetown Loop is Colorado's scenic "must see" and a deal at only $3 round-trip. Guidebooks, pamphlets and postcards help send the images of the steep canyons and mountain peaks accessible by train across the nation.
“The former silver mining camp along Clear Creek in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains was established in 1859 during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush. The federally designated Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic District comprises Georgetown, the neighboring Town of Silver Plume, and the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park between the two towns. The town population was 1,088 at the U.S. Census 2000.
"The town sits at an elevation of 8,530 feet (2,600 m), nestled in the mountains near the upper end of the valley of Clear Creek in the mountains west of Denver along Interstate 70. Although a small town today, the town was a historic center of the mining industry in Colorado during the late 19th century, earning the nickname the 'Silver Queen of Colorado'. It has evolved into a lively historical summer tourist center today with many preserved structures from the heyday of the Colorado Silver Boom.""
The "Punkin {SIC on purpose} Train" is tomorrow at the Georgetown Loop RR.
http://georgetownlooprr.com/
The Three truck Shay #9 is a wonderful steamer in use there:
http://georgetownlooprr.com/engines
The cost for tickets is just $28 for Train ride in parlor car and the Punkin Festival on the Georgetown Devil's Gate run...The train ride by itself is about 1 hour and 15 minutes long. If you decided to tour the Lebanon Silver mine, that will double your time to 2 hours, 30 minutes.
There is alos at times a Wine and Cheese and/or Beer & Brat dinner train run. {I know which one Ken would like to ride!}
There is also a mine tour:
Enhance your train ride with an optional walking tour of the Lebanon Silver Mine, located at the halfway point on the railroad. The tour takes you 500 feet into a mine tunnel bored in the 1870s. Your guide will point out rich veins of silver and tell you about early-day mining. The temperature inside the mine is a constant 44 degrees Fahrenheit, so bring a jacket or buy one in our well-stocked gift stores. The tour also includes visits to the manager’s office, and the miners’ change room.
There are Mine tours in PA as well, but that is wrong side of the country now.
In brief: The tracks linking Denver to Silver Plume were completed in 1884, and trains ran continuously through 1938, when auto transportation became popular and the price of silver plummeted (thus was no longer a profitable mining industry). At that time, the Loop was dismantled and the track sold for scrap. TheLoop was completely reassembled by 1984 and has run continuously ever since.
So, folks, what d'y'all Think! A ncie littel ride on a nice litle run!
Lets GO!
We will continue our tour of trains for Colorado as the month progresses...
We'd All enjoy it and I don't think we have done a coprehensive tour of Colorado at least not ina while...
EnJoy!
Hey Diners,
Nothing much I bought the Bluford Shops CR HM. (railroad term "Conrail hoppers").
Waiting for N Scale Supply to mail me my Kato Amtrak P42s I preordered, BLW got them 2 days ago. Its the another way around with Atlas.
Amtrak America, 1971-Present.
Good Afternoon,
A beautiful, sunny day here with a temp of about 60F which is nice for us this time of year. No frost yet.
I have started to lay the 'pavement' for the Main street on my N scale layout. I have set the time of year as fall so the latest MRR article on fall layouts is very timely.
Lots of birds in the yard this past week, the little Juncos are sure going through a lot of shelled sunflower seed and along with the house finches, they are consuming about 20 pounds a week. Shouldn't last too much longer as they will migrate.
We are off to see the Canada Geese migration tonight at the local sanctuary. There is a small lake there and thousands of geese come in to spend the night which is quite a sight.
Well time to head out to do some errands,
CN Charlie
I am home from my trip to Southern California. I had no problems lifting my 20.5 pound bag into the overhead compartment. (My new weight limit is 20 lbs.) Today I rode the mountain bike on the stationary trainer for 30 minutes with no ill effects. The recovery continues.
