Afternoon, Folks!

Janie - donuts and coffee for all! I´d like to celebrate my new computer! Not a new one, it´s my son´s GF´s old laptop computer, a Toshiba Satellite P300-271 with 8GB RAM and 1,000 GB HDD. Add to that a Harmon/Kardon sound system. I feel like having been promoted from driving a Volkswagen Beetle to a Porsche now.

G-Man - congratulations on being now officially a house owner! From now on, you´ll always know where your time and your money is ( any sarcasm is not intended).

Have a good one!

 Moring Dinners

 Flo, Coffee please.

Yesterday Just plain felt tired all day, took like two naps and was still in bed around 7:30. Did get a few things done.

1 Talked with the zoning inspector on the phone. Nice guy I will add. He is all so diabetic and has foot problems, so he understands. He is willing to give me time to clean the backyard. Has long as he can see progress when he comes out 11-18-15 he will not fine me.

2 Foot Dr Kind of a waste of 2.5 hours with the drive time. But, he is very happy with the way my feet looks and is glad I have pretty much stopped drinking.

Work Front and Dave. Got a call around 6:00 PM last night, seems Dave never showed up, wife said he was sick. My store did not open Wednesday! I was asked if I wanted to work today but I just had way to much to do so I passed.

Galaxy Congrats on the house, hope owning it is all you want it to be.

Br.Elias Hope the hip heals quickly.

Ulrich Layout looks like it is off to a good start! Sure glad to see you back on line and thank goodness for Mr Clause help.

Ray That sounds like it from a Abbott and Costello movie! Smile, Wink & Grin Glad you are no worst than you are!

Well it is about time to hit the rear yard. I perfer working on cleaning it up when it is cool out side. That was I can wear a sweat shirt so my arms don't get all cut up.

 Latter, Ken

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have an extra large cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.

CONGRATULATIONS to Galaxy for the new MRR basement with adjoining shelter overhead, and to Ulrich on the new Porsche!  Oh, wait, that's a new computer not a Porsche.

Big SmileBig Smile

Ulrich: A Harmon Kardon sound system, huh?  I can see it now....Ulrich sitting at the computer grooving away with Led Zeppelin or Paul Oakenfold going at volume 11, the house shaking, plates falling off the wall, etc.  Sounds great!!

i used to like to drive on the freeway, windows down, moon roof open, and Deep Purple's "Highway Star" or "Speed King" going as loud as possible and as fast as safely possible (within locally posted speed limits).  Great fun!

Hello to all.

I hope everyone is OK and safe.

Less is more,...more or less!

Good morning ....

Galaxy ... I think you can look forward to many years of model railroading in the basement you are buying.

Ken ... Glad you are communicating favorably with the inspector.

Frank ... If you are here, I'm starting to feel like building another 1/87 truck. I was looking at Sylvan Models website for ideas.

Meanwhile, I am working on my rural trackside scene.

Mornin' everyone.

Zoe, I'll hqve a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup and a couple sausage links.  Will need a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee in my R&GV RR mug please.

Think I will go down to the train room, turn on my entertainment system (Mackie 1202 VLZ3 Mixer, Crown 1000 amp, and Tannoy Studio Near Field Monitors) and listen to my collection of train songs, maybe start up the downstairs computer and link to 8000 songs in my iTunes collection...  Or maybe just work in peace and quiet down there for a while today.  Whistling  UP831 want to borrow my hearing aids? Smile, Wink & Grin

Galaxy, good to hear things are moving along with the house.  That will be great for you folks!

I got some more done on the girders last night.  I am running out of materials so I plan to go down to Lake City Hobbies in a bit to see if they have what I need in stock.  Also need to stop back over to the medeical equipment place as the problem with my CPAP wasn't solved with the humidifier section.  Must be something wrong in the main unit. Sigh

Catch you all later!

 Afternoon Dinners

Flo a Beer please. (After today I have earned a few)

Backyard War. I made a little bigger dent today but still a long to get it done. Did not get anything big out, fighting the wild grape vines is a pain in the back, legs, arms, neck and Caboose! I will need a tree purner for limbs over the swimming pool. Liked to get a powred one, but over my budget.

It was that time of month I hate, house payment. Cutting back on smoking and beer did help. While I still had to dip into the savings, it was only $172.00.

YGW To be honest Dave is the last person I am worried about! I am more worried about my family (they drive on the same road) and other people! Far as I am concern Dave can drive is VAN into a bridge at 65 MPH. I would feel sorry for his Wife and Son, but not him.

Ulrich Sweet Keyboard Thing! What Op system are you running? XP will ony handle 3.75 Ram. 32 or 64 bite PC? I would love to have a new Key Board Thing!

BBQ is done, back is hurting so see you all Friday.

I think they said two screws and a nail, but what would I know, I was asleep at the time. I do not even remember them starting the operation.

The wound is stitched closed, The hip was not actually involved, but only the femour,so so it was only a broken bone rather than a broken hip, s a lot of that hip  protocol does not apply, but it till hurts just the same.

Ohh, The lion has wheels! Well at least him is close to home. May heal faster...I was watchingLion's words about the pain,,was expecting to see a simulated bad word, then I realised it was the lion...him no uses bad words, not  even under duressfull pain!

Well, I have rested, and have copied off the last of the papers to take to "ThE MAN" tomorrow. Whew, They'd best not want another piece of paperwork? I still think it is bad that the  funding company lady said "DOn"t pay for your insurance yet. we need copy of the binder",but insuracnce company Says "PAY UP NOW or we don't issue binder. The Funding company has HIHGLY OVERSTATED the price/cost of said homowner's insurance. They say it should cost about $500 {probably for cheapest} and we are paying/paid $329 and we have HIGH LIABILITY, so ours is not the cheapest. We carry high liability on the vehicles too, so covered to $1million/$2million {that's  right millions in liability coverage.}

Whewe, well I run tomorrow to and try to nail down an inspector.

Later

sleep well my frineds...

GM, MEN!

Gottta see the man about the papers today and have an MRI but I don't know what time.

Will be low in the 20s shortly hereand this weekend. Hard frost to kill off vegetation.

So we will see.

We can have NYSEG on for utes at both places {nat gas.elec} , but NOT the cable/internet. Unles we want two bills for it. SO we will have to figure out how/when.

We will have MOH stay here until the trailer sells. I will stay at the new house.

Dunno. That is until this is sold, and I will be aback adn forth to boh palces for a while, too so it will not be randomly empty.

Know any one who wnats to buy a trailer for $4-5K cash in hand with w/d/ A/C included at $5000, not in the $4K amount, though.

We will post on CL for the cheapness and see what happens. We want it sold quickly.

SO i hav to take some pics and post. First I have to fugure out how...

Howdy, Everybody!

Flo, coffee and donuts for the lot, please. Put it on my tab, if you please ...

Spend the morning downloading some more software I need - like video editing stuff and the like. With that, I was able to produce a little video of my layout. The scenes were taken a few days ago, so it does not show the status as per today.

The loco is a little less noisy now, after a lengthy run-in period. Yes, I know - the train´s too fast!

More paint and ballast is on the way to my doorstep - I´ll have to stay patient until it arrives.

Lion - good to hear that your surgery went fine and you are on the road to recovery!

G-Man - keeping my fingers crossed for a quick sale of the old trailer!

The afternoon train is waiting to leave the station!

Ulrich: The "U." in the copyright for the music in your video wouldn't be for "Ulrich," would it?

This weekend I am taking a bit of a risk. As a youth, I took piano lessons for many years. I have continued to play. A piano was one of the first major investiments we made after we were married. (Mrs. ROR also plays.) At the beginning of this year, I went to a concert with two of my children and was awestruck with the playing of one of the featured pianists. A quick Google search and I discovered she teaches private lessons. Fast forward to this weekend and I am playing in her studio recital. I am at least a generation older than any of her other students, and most are young enough to be my grandchildren. The last time I did any sort of a solo performance was over twenty years ago. Yes, I am a bit nervous.

UP831 - "YGW:  Is Mike Holmes that guy who's covered in dirt and does the paper towel commercials?"  UP831 not sure if he does commercials or not but he does have a show where he makes a living running other people down trying to make himself look good. --- When one is a REAL PROFESSIONAL he never runs other companies or other workers down. He lets his character, professionalism, workmanship etc... speak for itself. When you are good, have character, professional others will beat your door down to hire or employee you.

Lion - LOL - When I saw your pictures I laughed out loud. Caught me by surprise. How did you go from a sailer to monk ? Is it a John Newton story ?

Galaxy - In my recent move the transition was the worst part. Glad that is over. Good luck with this phase.

Cuda - dont do it stay away from the Beer

That is the hard part we/I knwo and most will fall to me as MOH has to work so we can pay for the house!
A 15 yard dumpster will have to be here next week or two to dump/throw stuff in! Not trains, but there are plenty of them to pack up!
SO we will see, I will beg off the extra fees for keeping dumper longer than 1 week as they chrge by the day then, i will say I am disabled and will need twice as long!!
I will surely lose weight during this phase.

we seem to have an intestinal bug, not too good and i got my flu shot today. I don't care what tehy say, we alwyas get the flu-like symptoms when we get our shots, so I w ill be miserable the next few days.

Wheb n we had a big dumpster like that in Brooklyn you had to post an armed guard at the dumpster to keep the neighbors from filling it up. Whe we got on in Manhattan we could fill it up three times before they carted it away.

Hello everyone,

It's been awhile since I posted here. A mocha latte and some glazed French crullers would do me just fine.

Got to do xrays and an MRI to investigate the pinched nerve in my lumbar that's causing so much nerve and muscle chaos in my already bad...surgery and radiation damaged right leg. Sciatica, what a vicious problem. 35 years of very physical jobs and worsening arthritis is most likely the culprit.

Anyway. Even with that hot ice pick sticking in the lumbar, I'm trying to get my layout better prepared for the Reno/Carson City layout tours on the 7th and 8th of November. Last year I was too last minute to get on the list, but this year I got a good jump on things and am officially on the tour list. The other nice thing about the tours...I'll get a 5 day weekend out of it. Got some scenery to do and under the table wiring (a real challenge for a six footer with a painfully rigid back) for a few signals and adding blocks.

Two weeks after the tours I go into my holiday hours at the grind, 11.5 hr days, 5 days a week. Good money, but horrible on the body...I'm an old...old 54. Typically, I hate life for a couple of weeks after those hours. I am a full time grinch regarding the holidays. LOL.

Well, enough for now.

Have a good night all.

Evenin'Folks!

I'm a bit late getting in here today.  Janie, a cup of decaf is in order for now...

Spent the morning out at Boy Scout Camp helping get the sound system up and running for the Coiuncil Trophy Camporee this weekend.  They have over 2,000 Scouts and Scouters registered for it again.  I took out my other two Yamaha Monitor speakers to use with the two they have as front end speakers.  Normally they only have to have the sound going out directly in front of the stage, but with this crowd that means half of the people can't hear it as they are circling 3 sides of the stgae.  Using the 4 speakers should give the coverage they need.  I told them to get the speakers covered if it rains.  Sure hope they did as it has been pouring out....  These are not outdoor speakers!

Gort back home early afternoon, grabed a quick lunch while the car got some more battery charge and headed to Canandaigua to feed the Cat(s) at my sister's house.  She will be back home this Wednesday and I'm sure Claude the cat will be estatic!  I have given him lots of play time and belly scratch, and head rub time.  he greets at the front door every day and is glad to see me.  Absolutely a sweet 19.5lb. kittie.

Brother Elias, very sorry to hear of your accident.  I bet you didn't know I have a pair of Lions at my house!  Yep, they were a present to my wife and I a year before she died.  They still give me comfort and remind me what a good pair we were.....  Today they were on track down cellar:  (On Track Fee Lions)

So after discussing your problem with Leo, he decided to be trained today and head to the midwest to help keep you company while you mend:

Galaxy, be careful doing all that cleaning out and throwing away.  I am very happy for you folks, I know that both of youn have wanted to get a better place to live and set up trains!  This is wonderful for both of you.

I gleaned the garden late afternoon today as I will be out at the Museum until late tomorrow (will be dark when I get home) and we will likely getting a killing frost over the weekend.  This week is the last scheduled runs at the Museum and we are expecting another huge crowd.  I do hope the Kerosine stove works in my caboose!  Glad I am not on the NYC Caboose which doen't have any heat (there is part of an old potbelly coal stove in  there, but not close to being able to be used).

I finished (almost) the last two girders this evening for the bridge I am building.  The 4 girders themselves have 290 cut and fitted pieces.  Yesd I keep track.  When the bridge is evaluated for a Merit Award that is one of the things they need to know.  I will put a photo over in the WPF thread showing them.

Have a great night!  Prayers for all in need!

I know the feeling, Mark.

I used to be HEad Reciever for a very busy dept store for years.. That meant EVery box of mdse-no matter size or weihgt- that passed through that store went thorugh My hands, often litterally and physically. I would have a crew of up to 8 under me durning the busy months, but still didn't get me out of offloading and sorting the case of 2 0r 3 65' {tractor}trailers packed with mdse on top of and in between all pallets in just 8 hours.ften I was by MYSELF to unload entirely the trucks.

I was young strong and foolish!

I herniated a disc that is now apparently jsut buldged.

My back, a labral tear in the right hip and arthritis in the body,..most notably the back and left knee is why I use a cane!

At least things like my fingers are not knarled {yet} with the arthritis.

So I feel for you.
