Ulrich: i have been seeing that part pf Europe haas been having 100{+} degree weather a LOT this summer.
Here it is barely 65f, soggy and overcast today. June here was the 5th wettest month on record! And the flooding in places like Texas would never end. So many people washed out, flooded out, etc. Even in DC area... Water everwhere but california or out the western 1/3 of the US, a lot of which is on fire right now and in the 100'sF too... weather not cooperataing with anything here so much it would seem. I HOPE its not a forecast of the winter snows...we had enough last year!
ah well...
we will see if the fireworks get rained out today...

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
No rain here, but we expect a series of thunderboomers passing through our neck of the woods during the night.
Temperature exceeded the 100F-mark a couple of hours ago - the hottest day ever! Inside our apartment, we have an uncomfortable 81F, which will not go down much during the night .
Mornin' folks and a happy July 4th. to those of you Stateside.
Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes cereal and a pot of Seneca Lake Dark Roast coffee for my "Dispair.com" The Cup is Now Half Empty ® mug.
Lots of BOOM, BOOMs and Pop, poping going on around here last night..... Huh? No, no, I live amongst the Middle Class here in Geneva. It was the City putting on a major Fireworks display down by the lake after a major Concert celebrating the Holiday. I think tonight will be the same but put on by the VFW in town.
I shall be spending the day cleaning house and hopefully doing some weeding out in the gardens. My son and his family should be getting home tonight. I hope they drive safely!
Yesterday as I was driving back from camp, right by the old Seneca Army Dept property, as deer jumped the ditch and landed in the road directly infront of my car. There were two cars coming towards me on the other side of the two lane highway. The deer just stood there and looked at me as if saying "OH SHHHHHHHH....". I found out just how good the brakes are in the PiP! I stopped about 10 foot from the deer who was still looking at me. She then ran across the road on front of the two cars coming the other way. Luckily they had both slowed to a crawl and didn't hit her either... Lucky day for the Doe! All the trimming equipment in the back (seats are always down in the back) came flying up to the front though....
Have a great and SAFE 4th. of July!

Rain, Rain, go away!

The cat will be nervous!
Rainy/drizzly here.
bah day.
Since I had hte Rt shoulder surgery I have noted now about 3 months later it is hurting almost as much if not more than it did prior to surgery! The L shoulder got a shot whne he did hte RT, and a booster shot recently. I wonder if I should go fora shot in the Rt arm, seems unnecessary? but the pain!
Happy Fourth, everyone!
It looks like a cloudy day here, with some rain later. It's not going to be a good night to watch fireworks in New England, I'm afraid. We're just having some friends over for dinner (steak tips - yummm) so the rain will move the dinner inside but othewise not bother us.
Coffee is ready! See you later.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Happy 4th of July !
Last evening we watched fireworks over our lake on a boat. The state park on our lake did them last night and the state park on the other lake will do them tonight. We'll be at a BBQ at a neighbors house instead of seeing fireworks a second time.
YGW ... Happy birthday to your father. ... Read my response on your ebay thread. I think the Shipping and Handling is reasonable in your example. Note, it is shipping and handling. It is not just postage. It includes fees to ebay and PayPal which are about as much as postage. .... You save gasoline if you don't drive to the LHS too.

Lion - That is pretty incredible both the picture taking and the modeling !
Ken - Save the store ? They are putting it up for sale. How could you save it now ? Seems they have made the decison already. Feel free to contact me about your home issues with fence and plumbing.
Johnboy - Thannks
Ulrich - nice pictures
Galaxy - Agree with the fifth qoute. I have always wondered what Yankee doodle is about. Maybe today I will research that.
JaBear - Good morning. How does the Greek think affect the NZ $ ?
Going to my folks today. My Dad is 80 years old and still sharp in mind and body. I am blessed. I admire him so much. He stood by my mother when she was ill and took care of her and us until her death. He became well to do through hard work, pulling up his boot straps and doing the hard things right.
You all have a great fourth and hopefully I can check back in later

Is on subway of LION. NYCT never built the 76th Street Station, but it is the home of lots of speculation. Here is the rest of the story. (Sort of)
Don't light them...Leave the fireworks to the professionals! Don't blow it {off or up!}

Good Morning!
Today will be a hot day! Daytime high is expected to exceed the 100F, which would be the highest temperature ever recorded in my neck of the woods. Not my kind of temperature - breathing problems, swollen feet are sure no fun!
Today´s trip will take us a little closer to my home town. Bruchhausen, the starting point of Germany´s first museum railroad line, is just a good hour´s drive away. In my current sutuation, it could very well be on the moon - sigh!
May 1st marks the start of the season and it is celebrated with a number of special trains and events.
Enjoy the video and have a happy, but safe holiday!
Evening Dinners
Flo, Please.
Depressing start of the day to day. Pulled in the parking lot and there was a big For Sale Sign sitting in the parking lot. I knew it was coming but it still hurts after just getting the store away from Drunk Dave a few months ago.
While today was not as good as of a day as Thursday, it was still OK. Sold $1980.00. Sold 1 good high profit mattress and some low profit stuff, but it was still a profit!
Old Train In The Tunnel Photo from yesterday. All I remeber about it is it is a US Made steamer sitting on a flat car waiting to be saved. Photo is around 8 year old.
YGW Thank You for your contact information! While I have yet to read my PM's I will and will send you mine as well. If you would like I will send you my E Mail address and places your photos in my Photo Bucket Account and post them for you. With working 6 days a week for now, it may take awhile to call you. But I need the $ so I can afford to buy the lumber to replaces my fences. Plus I am going to see if I can find away to save my store.

Garry - ROTHFL ! LOL ! Ummmyea I didnt think of that defination ....
Mark H - Is there ever a mold issue with the systems ?
Galaxy - I was not offened by the comments by TJ and he did have some incredible qoutes. I just cannot figure out he gets painted as such a saint.
V8 - Are you sure they are all fireworks ?
YGW.
ps Just in case I dont make back in here tomorrow - Happy 4TH
YGW:The faucet is out of date, no longer any parts for it. The sink is a plastic sink, the layers are peeling off and it grows mold/mildew, bleach and stuff only makes it look better for a short time. iT needs to be replaced too. There is no fix for the hole developing in the floor expect to tear out {remove} and replace. We want a new efficient better built toilet anyway.
I didn't say I condone TJ, but I like what he is quoted as saying...so I used it. You don't have to read if you don't like him. SInce we were not aroudn then, we have to assume HE actuallly siad those things.
To all: dinner is chicken Florentine tonight...
Hope everyone has a safe 4TH !
I will stay FAR FAR away form the popular Fireworks shows locally as they get messy with traffic, but I will watch on TV!!
YGW ... Perhaps that word is used to identify workers who hook railcars together.
yougottawanta How often does it break down ? There is Humidity in Arizona ?
How often does it break down ? There is Humidity in Arizona ?
Sorry to jump in here. Swamp coolers are very popular here in northern Nevada. They work really well in a dry environment to about 100 degrees then they become less effective. They are extremely simple and cost less than A/C. They draw air through water soaked filters. They pump humidity into the air. Not that good for a humid area like VA.

On very lucky days I can make the temperature in the house around 70 degrees. But most of the time it stills in the 80s on hot and humid days. When it doesn't work.

Angelob- that is interesting thanks. How cool will it get the air ?
Galaxy - I have been to Thomas Jefferson home and have read a lot about him. He is way over rated. Bit of a jerk too. He was so badly in debt to the french that they refused to loan him any more and he had to enlist Adams to get the Dutch to loan him money. He ticked George Washington off so badly that he refused to communicate with him any further. He died with out talking or writing to him again. He also used alias in the newpapers to slander other leaders. T.Jefferson died so far in debt that his family had to sell off everything in order to pay off his debts.
The faucet is a fairly simply fix. Turn off the water under the sink in the cabinet. Then take a screw driver and remove the handles (take pictures as you go so you can see how to put it back together) there will be a tiny washer inside. Take that to your local hardware and match it up and replace. That should slow the drip way down.
Lion - Is that real or your layout ?
Garry - Good day to you. I to liked teh hooker tankers. But I wouldnt dare say what you said. It seems there is snitch in here that is very quick to report me.
Good morning Howmus.
Gotta run MOH want to change out the dining room light fixture so gotta get back to it.
.... and there is such an abundence of water on the desert ..... LOL
Good morning diners,
Today's temperature will 84 degrees and sunny, but for now its cloudy with a cool breeze.
YGW A swamp cooler is another word for evaporative cooler. It's cheaper than an air conditioning system in the desert. Basically you add water and cools the house down with outdoor heat.

I added a link for more information
Good morning everybody.
Terry ... I like the photo of Tank cars. Watch out for Hookers.
Ulrich ... Thanks for the videos.
Have a great Friday !
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes Organic Cereal and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee please. My R&GV RR Mug would do nicely....
Sun is out for a change this morning. Currently 62°F with a high of 78°F late this afternoon. I will be heading out to camp to hopefully finish up trimming around the tents early this afternoon. I found out yesterday they will be using all of the campsites next week for the specialty camps even though there will be only 80 Scouts in camp (Trail to Eagle). That means I have to get Mohican Campsite finished today... I also will be stopping at my son's house to change the kittie litter for him. They will be arriving home tomorrow if all goes well. His houise is almost on the way to camp so that will be good.
I had just gotten home from camp yesterday when the phone rang. It was the Amish furniture place letting me know my Hutch has arrived. i told the lady that I will need to have all the items delivered. She should be calling sometime this morning to let me know when that can happen. YES! The couch and chair should be arriving soon as well. Then I can get the details done and start enjoying the finished project. Maybe even find time to spend in the train rooms down cellar....
Ulrich, I am enjoying the videos you are posting. Particularly the steam. I will watch today's after I get myself showered and dressed and have my hearing aids in....
Galaxy, our museum looked at buying that caboose since it is nearby. We won't as we have too many unfinished projects, several involving cabooses, going on at the moment. One of our members is interested in getting it for a guest house at his "cottage" on Canandaigua Lake (he is a bit more able to afford stuff like that than the average member out there...LOL).
Later!
I just watched a video of a fantastic HOm layout (that´s metre gauge). It is Reto Sager´s (of Switzerland) Rhaetian Railway Bernina line layout, certainly one of the best layouts I´ve ever seen.
Enjoy!
Any of y'all want a CABOOSE for a nice train room, extra study, or jsut for funsies?
