GM, Men!
Well, I had Eggplant parm for anniversary dinner last night. I try to get something I can't get at home, or won't cook. MOH doesn't like eggplant, SO....I got that. MOH had a veal dish, and I won't buy veal as it is so expensive in the grocery store. I was surprised MOH didn't go for any scollops, clams or muscles...SHell fish and I don't get along, so we don't have that in hte house either.
15 Years together! Lets hope we get 15 more!?!?
MR. B. Usually women havea knack for remembering such things. MOH writes in on the calendar every year when we change the calendar...so I couldn't forget IF i tried! If I did, I'd be in the dog house. Plus, When MOH plans out vacation time in January {requested by employer that early}, we look up/plan for it this time of year...
Ah well, hope you two can stand each ohter another few years, MR>,B!

Good Morning, Folks!
Just a short visit, as I have to get ready for my PT exercises in a few moments.
Galaxy, Mr.B - congratulations on your anniversaries! Ours will be the 31st in a few days.
Today´s steam trip is over one of the most spectacular inclines we have in this country, the so called "Schiefe Ebene" (The Incline). Its on the line connecting Munich with Berlin and has seen dramatic action in the steam days, which lasted until 1974. Trains required two class 01 Pacifics up front and a class 86 pusher engine in the back. Grade is 1 in 40!
Enjoy!
galaxyMr. B, DON'T BET it slipped here mind...she may yet have you sleeping in the doghouse....!!!
No, she forgot our anniversary completely until I reminded her. She's had an unpleasant week, once again dealing with her parents and her deadbeat brother, and she had a routine colonoscopy on Friday. She still claims to be suffering side effects from the anesthetic, but she's a hypochondriac's hypochondriac. And, she took off early to go see a musical with a group of church ladies. She was ticked at me earlier in the week over the usual issues, too, but that seems to have passed. I made her nice dinners the last 2 nights, which she enjoyed. It's about the best I can do, since nothing much else goes by without criticism.

Going to work was a total waste of time, if it was not for the overtime! Only 1 customer that came in 20 minutes before closing. Wanted a $250.00 futon mattress for a Amzon price of $128.00. That was not going to happen.
I had high hopes of getting some yard work done when I got home. Heat beat that out of me! Car A/C has low coolent level, pretty much useless. It still has R-12 (I think that is the number) and is $52.00 a pound that last time I checked and that was a few years ago. I think it will cost me around $150.00 to have it converted to R-134 and will be well worth the cost.
Todd, allwise good to see you in the dinner. Thank ypu on your thoughts about the frost line and post. With lack of cutting skills a extra 2 foot would not be a bad idea!
Train Front Seems I have got my NYC PK1 F3's off the Rip Track. A unit rear worm bearing loves to squeak loudly. Have tried HO oil, HO Gear Lube and ATF and it kept sqeaking! Tried to left over White Lithium that I used on my 68 Road Runner cam after sitting 10 years to be safe. Made 6 passes + dragging a 30 car train, still quite.

I never thought I would see the day when Ray got a TV. Ray you might be able to hook up the DVD player ( depending on how old it is ) using a HDMI cable. It carries audio and video in one cable. You can get them for a decent price too. Just don't let them talk you into a monster brand bragging they have a better quality. I have used a monster and cheaper inexpensive brand and there difference is slight.
MisterBeasley galaxy WHAT IS THE OCCASION, YOU ASK? Our ANNIVERSARY! 15 WHole years now... and we haven't killed each other, YET... Thanks for reminding me, Galaxy. It slipped my mind completely. I'm guessing it slipped my wife's mind, too. 29th for us.

Well!!
I guess I FORGOT to post htis monring?!?!
I know why...we were opening the Jane Seymour's "double open love hearts" necklace{s} I got for MOH aobut, oh, 3 months ago...MOH INSISTED aobut 5 months ago that I GET one. Acutallly 2. One for MOH, one for me...so we'd each have the "secoond heart" to remind us of the other, SO; I got MOH one with diamonds in it, and one 'bullking masculine plain silver" one for me.
Mine is plain bulky silver:

MOH's is white gold, like this, with the diamonds in it, but WITHOUT the "extra birthstones":

Kay Jewelers is where I got it {our adopted neice works there}, bUT the didn't have the one with birthsotnes or i would have gotten on wiht the sapphire {mine} and Diamond {MOH'S} birthstones IN it....shucks,it MIGHT bea New addition AFTER I bought the ones I got in march.

Now we have to decide aobut eating out... where to go?

Good morning. It's going to be a hot one today. I had about a 40-mile bike ride yesterday, so I think I'll take it easier today, ride the mountain bike through the cool, shady woods and not spend as much time in the sun. The doctor says exercise every day, and I'd say I'm getting a good workout 6 days out of 7, with my "days off" only because the night before was typically a tiring hockey game.
TMarshGarry- Yes, female friends are a bit risky at times. That’s why I only have one and since this one is a friend of mines daughter and she is 21 years younger than me, married for 10 years 3 kids + stepdaughter AND she was in the same class as our son you’d THINK she’d be ok with us being BFF’s as she says
Last week, MOH told me she was baking a chicken for dinner, but then called at about 6 PM to say she had spent too much time at the Apple Store, she was hungry and needed to eat RIGHT NOW and we would have the chicken tomorrow, so I should go out and get myself something. I went to a place in the next town where they have live music and settled in with a bowl of gumbo and a cold draft beer served in a Mason jar.
I ended up sitting with the singer and two of her lady friends. Two of them were being a bit flirtateous, and I didn't discourage them. I ended up getting home around 11 PM, and MOH seemed visibly upset, although she knew nothing of the ladies. I'll be honest. I was tempted.
Afternoon, Folks!
Took a long nap after lunch. Not that I feel refreshed now - I was and still am just mentally too exhausted.
Here is a bonus video, filmed on the occasion of the 125th birthday of the Harz Mountain Railway.

The tools in the foreground are the actual brake handle and reversing key from the class of subway car shown above. Each motorman was issued his own "keys", and they are all numbered.
The motor controller is of course attached to the train. The reverse key and the brake handle are not. Once you engage the reversing switch, you must also hold down the controller, else you will go BIE (Unless the brake is already in the full stop position.)
The trains on my layout have SMEE brake systems, the keys for the older AMUE brake system are the same. I ran some AMUE eqhipment at the Branford Trolley Muesum.

Morning All!
Flo strong coffee and some cereal please...whatever you have will suffice.
Terrible sleeps lately fellas. Takes forever to get to sleep and staying asleep is near impossible. Its getting old and starting to wear.
Managed to lay some cork on my small freight yard extension yesterday. Today I will add the track. I also worked on a few structures. Just the initial stages mind you but it was enjoyable and its progress.
Ulrich its amazing how a persons mental state can affect how they feel physically. I hope things pick up for you.
Well I hope everyone has a great and healthy day!
Happy Modeling!

It´s Sunday (again), so I´ll have my big Sunday breakfast of food I am not supposed to eat, i.e. bacon & eggs, sausages, a stack of pancakes, buttered toast and jams, a tall glass of OJ and plenty of cofee in an IV bag, please.
I am not feeling well. Suppose it´s nothing physical, more like a mental issue. I am in a low mood - it´s vacation time and I can´t go any place. It´s a feeling of being buried alive in this apartment.
Oh, well ...
Today takes is to the Harz Mountain Railway. It´s a network of 1.000mm gauge lines, steam operated on a frequent, daily schedule. Probably the largest narrow gauge network in all of Europe!
Warning: The video has full feature length, taking you through a typical day of operation.
Enjoy & have a good day!
Evenin' folks!
Janie, a cup of decaf would be great right now. I'll be in the back chatting with some of the guys...

I had a great day on the Layout Tour and the picnic. One gentleman's layout room in the basement of his very large ranch house is about twice the size of my complete basement. And, his work is a definate WOW!!! He is a life member of the NMRA but has been inactive for some time. I think he has enjoyed the Convention tour and a couple picnics he and his wife have have attended. I hope they will become more active in the Division as I think they would enjoy it and they have much to offer to others. On the way home I stopped into Best Buy and spend some more money. Got a Roku Equiped 43" LED Sharp TV...
I started to get all the stuff together to hook up the old VCR (Yep still have that and a bunch of tapes), the DVD Player (yep, more old time stuff) and get the TV out of the bnox and start set up. Unfortunately I ended up on the phone with another Commissioner for the Pack and Troop with then handicapped Scouts. It seems that the "STUFF" hit the fan today with the problem Mommy who now has claridied that she wants to be out at camp with her son for the nights and then leave for work in the morning. now that is not a problem except she is not registered to come to camp and stay the night.... They checked with the Camp Director who said it was not a problem and they would just assign one more tent to the troop for her. Since she was not staying the days they would not need a health form on file for her either... In the mean time... finally the troop treasurer talked with Mommy and informed her she was not registered for camp and that was that! So Mommy is going to have her son go to camp with another troop. Most likely the one her older son just got his Eagle in........ I'll hook things up tomorrow. I don't have enough Compostite Video Cords anyway, so I have to go find some before everything will get hooked up anyway.
Have a good night everyone!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Flo, please.
While it was a slow day at work it was a Very Good day! Only had 4 customers and only 1 of them bought, but they spent $3865.00! That works for me!
YGW, OK what Norkfolk and Western did you score? Is it by chances a Y-6b? I love mine, it is a PCM by Boradway Limted . It is a pulling monster and tracks great.
By the way, did you happen to see the link I posted about the fence post I am thinking about buying? Any input on the post or the 36" frost line?
Gary It would be soo cool to beable to do that round house in HO scale. If one used all BLI steamers, turntable and with round house I could see someone spending $20,000.00.
Oh geez Galaxy I think I am having nightmares tonight . Just kidding. But really please dont tell us what is under the kilt !
Well,
A lot fo sun and fresh air in moderately NICE temps, with mostly clear skies under the sahde of the trees was the renaissance festival at Sterling, NY. Unfortunate part is it is built entirely down a Steep hill! BUT: the recent rains kept the dust of the dirt "roads" down and the ground was nicely soft and giving without being MUD. The performers did MUCH better than the last time we went.
I wore my kilt...nice an "cool wearing".... I won't expand on that as a Scotsman NEVER reveals what may or may not be under his kilt... I wore the blue/purple "Pride of Scotland" kilt. One Wench at the festival actually called out "Great Pride Of Scotland Kilt!"..SHe ACUTALLY KNEW what the tartan was! MOST people have to ASK what tartan it is!!!
SO HOPEFULLY I will sleep well tonight finally!
LOL Howmus. That is funny !
Great day of MRR. Went to the NMRA meet with teh James River division and watched a pro modeler show us his weatehr tech. and then I finaly decided to break down and buy a compressor and double action spray gun. THEN I asked the LHO about an N&W he had lested for 325 that stated 25% off. I assumed the 325 was the reduced price. NO it was 25% off of the 325. I couldnt get my wallet out fast enough! And THEN when I got home MOH had picked up my ebay purchase from teh post office. Yep it was a banner day for MRR in the YGW house !!
Welp gotta go do some weathering

V8VegaMy big concern is I still have VCR and want to keep it. I don’t think new TV’s have a way to connect VCR.
Assuming your VCR has a composite video connection (Audio R, Audio L, Video; or Red, White, Yellow) you are in luck. Many new televisions have composite video connections in addition to HDMI.
Yesterday I finally found some time to work on the railroad. With the grandchildren at the house off and on for the past month and a half, with all of my travel, and the introduction of piano lessons into my schedule, there has not been too much available time. Last night I squeezed out enough time to ballast about 3' of track. Every little bit helps.
Richard
Good morning ...
Ray ... Your new furniture looks nice.
Ken ... Thanks for the congrats.... That's a big roundhouse.
Ulrich .... Thanks for commenting about the addition. .... Thanks also for the videos. I thought trains only looked like that in Marklin or Fleischmann train sets. LOL
Jeremy ... Sounds like you are busy.
Galaxy .... thanks for continuing the vocabulary lessons. Limpid is not a commonly used word.
Todd ... Thanks for commenting. ..... A Durango for Brenda. Well she should have plenty of room to carry groceries home from the store. .... I avoid making friends with females. It works much better for me if I stick with just men as friends.... Of course, wives always have something they must complain about if not that; something else. ....... Sometimes I demonstrate my authority by leaving the toilet seat up ! .... LOL
On the layout, I'm laying track and also working on buildings.
Happy Model Railroading !

Today's word:
Morning guys
up as I have to work at 9:30 this morning, ugh I'm not a fan of working Saturdays. But I guess I just did have two days off so that's ok and I'm off tomorrow.
didnt acmomplish much the last two days other then some housework and got a second coat of paint on my hockey net. I also cleaned the fist tank. There is something that dug a big whole in the backyard the other night, either a skunk or raccoon I think. Might get pizza for dinner tonight and am heading to the hockey shop tomorrow to pick up a new stick. I hope today goes by somewhat quick.
Good Morning!
Saturday! No PT! Two days of rest - great!
Garry - congratulations on the two new cars coupled to the family train!
Ray - I like your new furniture!
Today, we go to Burgbrohl, located somewhere along the picturesque Rhine Valley. We will take a ride on the metre-gauge Brohltal line, the train being pulled by one of the original 0-4-4-0 Mallets, which came back into service only this year, after 50 years of slowly rotting away as a monument.
Flo, please
Gray Congrats on the new Grand Kids and hope they love trains and be living close by!
Fence Front Little bit of bad news, frost line is 36 inches? Man that will be alot of digging and cement. For where I am living that seems deep to me.
Fence Post Well if I want a 6' tall fence and have to dig a 3 foot hole I will need 4'X4 X 10 post. I want the rails running side by side, not up and down. I found these post on line at Lowe's, what do you folk think?

Herron Choker I found the stain you have been talking about. I want a brown paint, not a redwood color. But, at that prices I guess I could stain it first, then paint over it?
Have more to type about, but it getting late, Ken
Meanwhile.....
Heh, heh, heh……… Guess what arrived about 7:40 this evening???
First photo was taken with flash... Second with ambient light and 30sec exposure... just seeing what works out there. Lighting will be put in a couple weeks.
Still have some minor leveling to do but this is where they will sit. If I have time tomorrow on my way back home from The layout tours and picnic in Rochester, I may stop in Victor at the Best Buy and see about the TV. I should be getting a check from the insurance company soon for the "Recoverable Depreciation" for the replaced, covered items. The couch and chair should be delivered sometime the week of the 20th. or so I have been told.
