Good day, all. It's hockey night, so I'm taking it easy, just doing some light shopping and computer stuff. Tonight is our annual Tuesday Night Hockey "clambake," which has nothing to do with steamers, littlenecks or other mollusks. Someone arranges for a couple of young ladies to drop by after the game and, uh, well, disrobe.
It's a social event, so I've picked up a bunch of extra food - salami, cheese, pepperoni, rolls, salsa, chips and so on. I'm not supplying this bunch with beer, but I will have a few myself and I'll have some extras on hand for those who forget.
Sir MadogEach time I try to open Youtube, my computer crashes. I am giving up for the day, so there will be no video today!
Ulrich, I've had a couple of Adobe Acrobat updates lately, and my anti-virus wanted me to reboot my computer this morning. I've also seen odd behavior on YouTube, even after all this. Sit tight. Sometimes, the problem is not at your end.

Antoine ... Welcome to the diner. I used to travel to Montreal for business and I have been on the subway. It is so much quieter than the subways in Chicago because of rubber tires.

Somebody a couple days ago asked about TV at my house??? Well.... Yep, done got a TV for those rare times when it would be nice to have an idiot box out there. I bought a ROKU equiped 43" Sharp Smart LED one. Actually had to get two as the first one was a dud. My son came over to get the wooden frame that I used for firewood on Sunday and while he was here helped me set up the Wii. When everything was set, I turnied on the TV and all we got was a bunch of large blue bloobs and sone jagged yellow lines going all over the place... So I gathered up all the parts, wrappings, and other stuff that came with it and put it back in the box to go have a return arguement with the folks at Best Buy. I drove back over to Victor, walked in the store and went back to the kiosk where I purchased it. The lady working took my reciept, appologized I had trouble, and asked if I want to get a refund or a new one. I told her that I would like a new one, preferably one that works... They even put it in the back of the PiP for me (lots and lots of room back there). Darn, I was looking forward to having an argument! (actually very relieved and surprised).
Had a friend come over and help me this time. Put the feet on it, plugged it in, and turned it on. Found myself at the screen to sign up for ROKU. After several runs back and forth from the living room to my main computer (could have used the laptop but didn't) I was fianlly all signed up, had read (and printed out) the 53 page agreement saying simply that I have no rights whatsoever and if there is any problems it isn't their fault. Turned everything on and actually watched a few minutes of a "piece of crap, so called, reality show" on the History Channel (they don't seem to really have anything relating to History on there anymore I guess) to make sure it actually does work as it should.
Antoine, welcome! I wonder how much the use of rubber tires lowers efficiency?
Spent the morning at a Medical Insurance meeting for Retirees of the School System explaining the choices we now have for our insurance. Haven't seen that many "old" people in one place in ages.....

Isn't it AMAZING? FOr most of us, the PC has beceoe a lifeline, a communicator, a refernce library, a tool, a fun toy, a thing we cannot do without!
Think back to the early 70s!

I don't know if this is your problem, or even part of it, but Firefox yesterday blocked all versions of Adobe's Flash Player
- that´s what got it all started! There seems to be a bug in my Windows XP, as I can´t run most of my programs.
Not a happy camper!
Sir Madog. . .I am fighting with my computer! It seems, as if Firefox is the culprit. I deinstalled it, installed it again, but it isn´t working properly, making my computer crash each time I want to load it. I am now on IE, which I have not been using for over a decade!. . .
Personally, I am a fan of Chrome.

Hi
Near my town there is Montreal, great city. The subway system, for those interested, was developped by Bombardier and it runs on rubber tires.
Its maximum speed is 72km/h.
It has advantages such as faster acceleration, smoother ride, shorter breaking distances, lower maintenance cost, and it can climb steeper slopes.
:)
Have a good day!
Antoine
Good morning .
Jim of Ohio ... Enjoy your trip ! ....
Ulrich .... Your videos are enjoyable. I'm saving some for later. Can't watch all now.
V8-Dennis .... Hope the TV works well for you.
Inch .... Seems like it has been raining everywhere for weeks except southern CA.
Don .... The bridge would be an impressive model.
Ken .... Glad you got the NYC F3's running. You inspired me to work on my P1K F3's (Great Northern) which are getting noisy. ... Glad to hear the big sale grew by another $1,000.
Hope to have some model train time later today.

Good Morning Diners,
Flo, may I have an extra large cup of coffee with extra large amounts of cream, please. Thank you.
That was the Emily Post edition of a coffee request.
Ken: no doubt that will be one of the best $64 you ever spent when the day is done. Set that motorized auger on one of those engine mount cranes (I forget what they're actually called) and you wouldn't have to even manhandle the auger.
Don: That would be one ambitious bridge project. Lots of cutting and trimming. Probably take a couple of years to do it.
Dennis: I'm not overly big on TV either, but up here in the frozen North, they're nice late in the football season. We still have an analog TV with the converter box.
Lion: that brake handle must have been left by the jolly green giant. Oh, thats right, Lions only get their vegetables from wildebeest.
Have to go.
i hope everyone is OK and safe.

I checked my computer and for whatever reason, Firefox as well as the Adobe Flashplayer did not work. I re-installed them and everything appears to be fine now.

V8Vega I sold my Prelude a few days ago and I could have carried my new TV home in that easily so now I have two two seat very small sports cars. I unbolted the passenger seat from my 88 CRX and the TV just barely fit in the car. I'm glad to get it and get it home.

v8_ I have always been a truck and van person, raised with vans that coud about {and did} haul pretty much anything.
I now have a minivan- a smaller one by a few feet off the Grand Caravan, but a 49" TV would fit in my minivan. I Drive one or the other {van or truck} all the time just on purpose to carry things nad stuff...stuff that I propbably don't want or need! LOL.

1 A1C went up to 7.9, not a shock. I have been eating a lot of bread of late. This caused a stupid fight with my wife! Her Docotor has told her that anything under 8.0 is normal, and if I get it lower I will not be able to eat anything I want! Or should I say what she buys and want's me to eat! I told her the VA want's the A1C below 7.0 and I was at 7.1 last time and I want to lower it agin. Some how this turned in to a minor fight?
2 Chest X-Ray Well I have a small nodal in the right lung and that is common for people that grew up in the Midwest for some reason? Something about something we breath is attacked by our Immune System and causes a Calcium Case to form around it and 99% of the time it is nothing! From the X-Ray woman that called me did not know I was a smoker! The VA is going to test me for TB to be safe.
Work Front Remember the $3800.00 deal I had from Saturday? The customers added another $1000.00 so it is now a $5000.00 deal with taxes!
Train Front The F7's from New York City are still running nice abd quite.
Over all it was a Good Day to be Cuda Ken!

Good evening diners, Today was the day to start our trip to Denare Beach, Sask. Drove through very hard rain from Columbus, Ohio to west of Dayton, Ohio including very black, ominus clouds. While driving out of the rain, the A/C froze up. Ken, I sympathize with your car air conditioner problems. When you are used to car air conditioning and it stops working, its pretty uncomfortable. Managed to finally thaw out the ice berg in the evaporator coil and restore cooling which was a very good thing as it was 92 degrees when we arrived in Peoria, IL for the night's stay.
In a senior moment, walked out of the house this morning and left my Thermapedic side sleeper pillow. Hope to find one tomorrow as i kind of need the thing to prevent neck pain with my degenerated top five vertibrae.
Lion, really have enjoyed your recent pictures.
Uhlrich, the German railroad clips have been very interesting. Nice to see such a variety of restored steam still running in your country.

Good evening all,
Flo, a cold one and a sandwhich please.
Well, I had to make the drive way up to the "Big City" today for appointments so I decided to wander around one of my favorite bridges to kill some time, the "Fort Wayne Bridge" or "Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge". It was built around 1901 and has gone through some changes over the years, but still looks much the same as the original. Its currently a double track upper deck bridge that is used by Norfolk Southern, Amtrak, and AVR (Allegheny Valley Railroad) that spans the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh PA. I just love the look of it and have often said that if I build another layout I will somehow encorporate a bridge like it on the layout.
Well, hope all are well. I will sit and listen while I sip and munch.
Happy Modeling all!
Don
"Ladies and gentlemen, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that both engines have failed, and we will be stuck here for some time. The good news is that you decided to take the train and not fly."
Hi Gang,
Hope everyone had a great week end and are getting back to normal if you were one that was ailing.
Ulrich, hang in there and with practise you will gain back what was lost. You are in our prayers.
Have any of the Diners here had any experience with the "MD Hearing aids" that they have been advertising lately. They sound pretty good and have good recommendations, at least what is being conveyed to you. The price is right and I tried some more expensive ones over a year ago but found I couldn't control any of the back ground noise and these are supposed to do that. Any comments you have about these units would be graciously excepted before I take the plunge.
Will check back in a while and see what you have to offer.
Till then

That´s what it means!
Steam trains never exceeded 30mph up that incline - today´s trains do 80 - 100mph.

Just see how long I'd last if I actually did try to say something like that.
All of this talk about anniversaries is interesting because ours is this week. As forgetful as I am about some things, I've never forgotten that! So far the plan is to take off Friday and go to Milwaukee to the zoo or something and go downtown Chicago on Sunday, or do Chicago on Friday and Milwaukee Italian fest on Sunday. Of the two, the latter sounds like the more feasible plan. We'll see how it finally turns out.
this will be our 37th. Thirty seven long grueling years that went by in a blur!

We're supposed to have severe thunderstorms this morning so I'd better get going. Don't want to get drenched.
I hope everyone is OK and safe.
