Zoe, I'll have another refill for my Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee please...
Last night around 11PM I had a nice long post ready to put on here, pushed send, and the site said it was down.... So I shut down and went to bed instead. I just got home from my littlest Granddaughter's Kindergarten Graduation ceremony at Waterloo High School. Cute little kids! Granddaughter #2 was upset because she had to wear nice clothes to the event! She would go home untill she got to chang into a pair of shjorts and a T-shirt... LOL She is a character.
The weekend was a huge success for the museum. The one thing we haven't let people go into is the Restoration Building itself for safty reasons. yesterday early afternoon we got a good rain shower so they opened it up and let people in to get out of the rain. The guests loved it! We are now considering how we can open it for the days we are open and [provide for safety and security.... They loved seeing the things being worked on and restored.
Sorry to hear of your woes, Galaxy and hope some way to get the meds you need will be found.
Ulrich, you may not like the "Drill Sergeant", but it will get you better much faster than not doing the therapy! Hang in there....
Sun is trying to shine outside today... Currently 74°F with a high of 82°F this afternoon. I hope to get a bunch of odds and ends done around here today.

Afternoon, Folks!
What a terrible day! First, my body is just one big ache, thanks to my ruthless drill sergeant in the guise of a physiotherapist. Second, the weather here is just dreadful - cold and wet. No sign of Summer! A day to stay in bed and dream of better days to come.
I am not in the mood to run a train, and that´s an alarming sign!
Zoe, make that a hot chocolate for me and please help me move that carcass of mine to the corner booth. Thank you, dear.

Good morning and happy Monday.
I hope the fathers had a good Fathers Day.

GM {Good Morning}
Feel sore this monring, but was late on the pain pill, as it was overdue.
I can't really say much about what I TRUELY think of health care/med issues, or I might get banned.
All I CAN say, is that people are going to start refuse items they can no longer afford, and as drug companies ^ cossts, they will kill off the goose that laid the golden egg.
60 Minutes hadd a thing aobut cancer meds las night, Similar to regual meds. I drug that works and appears to prolong lukemia patients by aobut 10 years, went form about $6k to $92K a MONTH. They claim well it works so well, we can charge that for it". I would rather die than pay more than a house costs around here!!!!
As it IS, I am refusing to take a psychotropic that COULD keep me from "being a danger to myself or others" Due to costs. simply CANNOT afford $575 a MONTH for meds for both pain and psychiatric issues.IT costs me $301.48 in premiums for medical {Olus I MAY have co-pays still} so that is $3617.88 per year PLUS the $575/m in co-pays for meds {NOT including one-offs like antibiotics when needed}at $6900/yr. That Is $10,500++/YR for ME alone. That Is UNAFFORDABLE for us at 140% of federal poverty level.
Not to mention that MOHs insurance {forgetting paycheck deductions for a minte} is an automatic $2600 deductible for ALL care for MOH.
My $10500 PLus house costs of $4020/yr, and food costs of at least $3600/yr [we don't qualify for food stamps anymore}, an utilities of $1770/yr and we are broke then.
It is no wonder the credit cards are going up and not down! There isn't enough money!

Good Morning Diners,
Flo, I'll have an enormous cup of coffee with huge amounts of cream, please.
We are expected to get rain today and all this week, with moderate to severe Thunderstorms, and possible threat of tornados, etc.....
Sometimes auto correct on iPads gives you the goofiest words. I thought I had spelled threat and the auto correct gave me great. Sooo, with that in mind, the possible threat of great tornados.
Yesterday, MOH and I went out to get a few more flowers for the front planter. At Kmart we picked up a couple of new industrial strength lawn chairs. They are canvas on steel frame and have a little table on the side that folds down. Looks like a good place to hold my glass of wine if we can ever get to Ravinia at all this year. (Ravinia is an outdoor concert venue).
I hope everyone is OK and safe.

Todd Wished you stopped by more often. As far as my foot wound it is looking better. Yea Todd, I was shocked as well when the first Dr's I saw at the VA blew off the problem.
High Cost Meds That is where the VA system is a good thing. My normal Meds are cheap and I get them at Shunks. If my DR wants me to take a expisive Med, I get it from the VA for $8.00.
Fathers Day Used the funds my daughter gave me to have the front grass cut. With the current foot wound well worth it!
UP 831 I will see if I can find something about that on U Tube, I had never heard of it. But I was sort thinking about something like it. Get some extra solder on the wire (beyon tinning the wire) heat up the mounting point then touch the wire to it.
Ulrich Looking forward to some pictures! Sound like you have a good Wife and a great friend.
BBQ is just about done, so it is time to go.

Evening guys
just returned from my parents, they had a bbq tonight, chicken potatoes and corn. I'm full. Only a three day work week for me this week as I am off Thursday to Monday. I did a lot of yard work today but wil trim the hedges on Thursday and hope to get layout work in also. I will drop by sometime tomorrow. I hope everyone had a good weekend
Good Evening
Sunny and 75...feeling like 88 out right now.
Had family down for the day and now everyone is headed back home...even got to run some trains with BIL and we had no accidents or Broake & Howe people show up.
Chloe..I'll just have 3 wild boars, 15 gallons of poutine with everything and 6 SRP's as well please...oh yeah...10 gallon tub of Strawberry milkshake...thank you...this oughta set some people going...
Afternoon guys
a warm and muggy day here today. I was out this morning cutting grass and cleaning the gardens. so peaceful back there. the back bushes need a trimming bad, they are everywhere and messy looking. I am off Thursday to Monday so will do it then. The times I have wanted to do them it has rained.
Good day. Wow, did we get a lot of rain yesterday along with high wind. Brought down a huge limb or an old sycamore tree about a block and a half from my house. Last year during a storm an other sycamore split in half and crashed into the house across the street. Cost the city a new roof as the tree belongs to the city as it is in the area between the side walk and street. Frankly, the city's sycamores are all disasters waiting to happen. Had more water in the basement as the ground is totally saturated after a weeks rain.
Our airedale is doing poorly and will probably have to be put down this week when our regular vet returns from vacation. Very sad about this situation as she has been the best dog we have every owned and a rescue to boot.
On the train front, between shop vacking water off the floor, stained a half bag of ties for more track laying. Plan to glue them down this afternoon or early evening.
Like Galaxy, don't get me started on insurance and prescription drugs. Have had coverage dropped on two prescriptions this past two years, Almost everything I now take for hypertension is generic and cheap. The insurance company appears to be unwilling to cover any treatment for acid reflux disease. I guess they would rather pay $$$$ for treatment of esphogial cancer, instead.
Happy father's day to all you dads out there.
Jim
Oh, I nearly forgot:
Happy Father´s Day!
We had our Father´s Day a few weeks ago, on May 14th - Ascension Day.
It's raining here. My daughter is back in Maine (got a text) and my wife is on Cape Cod (got a phone call.) I made myself a batch of buttermilk pancakes from leftover batter, with butter and real maple syrup. Yummy.
It's raining. I don't think I'll get in a bike ride today, but it should clear up enough for a walk, anyway. After those pancakes, I will certainly need some exercise.
Happy Fathers' Day from one dad to all the rest!
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Good Morning diners,
Flo, I'll have my usual ginormous cup of coffee with mass quantities of cream, please.
Happy Father's Day everyone.
Galaxy: Good to see you back. Sorry to hear of your situation, but hope things are starting to correct itself.
My family took me to see Love and Mercy, which is a story about Brian Wilson of he Beach Boys. Just sharing.
Ken: You probably know this, but there is a technique in jewelry making called pic soldering, which is where you take a small, no seriously small, chip of solder, melt it and pick it up with a "pic" and then reheat the area where you want the solder to flow into. I know that's an extremely short description and I'm not sure if it would work in electrical situations, but it might be worth a try on a practice application first.
Have a great day everyone.
i hope everyone is OK and safe.
The official start of Summer 2015 - and not a wee bit of sunshine! Just gray and drab - yuck!
My friend came over a little earlier and brought the layout. He bought all those boxes I could not afford, made the connections, laid the track & wired the layout for DC operation. Furthermore, he installed the backdrop, which Petra painted. So that´s where she has been a couple of days ago!
I am a happy man, to have a wife like her and friends like Lothar. The layout is very close to what I have planned before the stroke "struck". I can now run a train, which makes me feel a lot happier. No pictures - yet, but as soon as I can stand without the help of a crutch or someone holding me, I´ll take some for you guys.
I am singing in the ra*n ...

Galaxy,
First, let me say, my wife loves that show! She records it every weekc, then we watch it later.
Second, I go to the Packer for my million and one physical problems. I presume they have psychologists and psychiatrists, but have never had to see one.
Third, and most importantly, have you seen a lawyer about this involuntary admissions debacle? You can usually get a free consultation to go over your situation. I don't know if they can do a lot, but they may be able to do something, including perhaps advising you not to go back to that particular hospital.
Good luck.
Good Morning
Nice and clammy here in humidland. 72 feeling like 84 right now, supposed to get to 77 feeling like 90 later on...oh...with the ever present chance of showers/thunderstorms.
Have some relatives coming for a mid-afternoon BBQ...weather permitting, of course..otherwise, indoor activities will be done instead...
Galaxy: Man, that sounds rough!!! Do you have access to a patient's rights advocate there?
Flo? I'll have an 8 doz egg omelette, 2 loaves of multigrain bread toasted, 15 sauage patties and a 50 cup urn of coffee...this is chow down time...
Had I been changed to "voluntary admission status", I COULD have been sent to Uncle Bob's SAyre, PA psych unit, but as it is out of state, I cannot go INVOLUNTARILY. They REFUSED to change my status. I can underwstnad someone taking aginst thier will to Psych ward, but I showed up VOLUNTARILY and ASKED to be admited, so WHY "involuntarily commit me"??
GRR.
To Whomever asked about generic: The med IS expensive {$850-$1k depending on pharmacy}. I would have a co-pay of $200/month. NOW, it HAS finally gone generic, BUT the generic version is a $142 co-pay TO ME out of pocket ALMOST THE SAME. WHY? BECAUSE IT WORKS!!!!
Remember, MY COPAYS went from $150/YEAR to $575/MONTH!!!!!! I CANNOT affford THAT.
My mental health meltdown is only the beginning the problems IF I cannnot get the meds THAT WORK for me!!!!!!!
It has been since 2008 That I was ast hospitalized in the CPEP psych unit at General Hospital. But NO beds were available THIS time.
At the ER in the hospital {without a Psych ward} I was at, They washed their hands of me and refused me meds, refused to feed me {i wasn't techincally a patient-just a hold-over}. I was treated like the red-headed leprosotic stepchild. Had MOH NOT gone down to the Patient Advocate, who made a few things happen, i WOULD have strarted throwing things {the ONLY hting that kept me form it was I didn't want to get straped down, OR taken t o jail to be strapped down}. Remember I WENT VOLUNTARILY, but was placce on involuntary status {which meant ALL my rigjts were taken away form me..you are person non-grata. ESPECIALLY at the "holding ER". I COULD OT sleep on the gurney. After one night,MOH got the patient advocate to get me a bed, NOT a gurney {they are 2" foam mat on whch to sleep}. They HAD to leave gthe potty chair as I was NOT allowed ot leave the ER room. I was held as a Prisoner.
Grrrr.
Once at the psych ward, you are naturally locked in to avoid elopment.
You have 72 hours guaranteed to see a psychiatrist from time of involuntary admittance, which DID happen for me. BUT he is NOT happy with my pain meds I am prescribed as he considers them "end of life" meds?????? He was nice enough, but....
well, enough, problem IS if we don't solve the problem, I will be right back here into mental meltdown oin a few months.
I see hte mentl health counselor and psychiatrist this week to my county's mental health clininc. {I DO hat already} Apparnelty the DOCTOR has to ask for the discounted deal from the manufacturer.
I don't know.
Enough of all that.

I'm recovering from yesterday's trip to watch trains in Syracuse. Due to family obligations, I get little time to go railfanning, except in the Sayre, PA area on doctor's visits. I arrived later than planned, and stayed till dark, so I wasn't home till 11:30. At least I got some weeding done today. Maybe Ill look at some of the pics tomorrow, but it's Father's Day, which will be busy, and some of the pics were shot using my trusty old Minolta film camera instead of a digital. Hopefully I'll get back there later this summer.
Ray: Diet? Who? Me? When did I say I was on a diet?

Janie, just need a refill of my decaf, and a slice of the strawberry rhubarb pie with some whipped cream on it... Thank you!
Galaxy!
You're back! Sorry to hear about your troubles, but we are all glad you are once again able to post! Hope they get the Rx problem worked out for you soon. I even checked out all the obituaries down in the southern Tier of NY looking to make sure you weren't listed.... You should be getting a card from me early next week. Just contact me on the forum if you want.
We had a great opening day out at the museum today. Over 200 visitors and most opf them were new ones. A lot of great comments and happy patrons! The schedule and tours worked out well, and there will be tweeking of lots of things as we move through the season. I have to be back out there by 9AM for crew call tomorrow...... We didn't make the last run of the day today... No more visitors at that time and it was starting to lightly rain. The people out there today were much more focused on trains thgan the folks we usually get. A lot of good questions about how trains run, how things work, and how to stay safe around them. My kind of crowd as those are the type of questions I love to answer.
Barry, I see you are back off the diet again......
Have a great night everyone. Prayers for those in need!
Flo, please
First Dry Day We Have Had This Week! About time, all this rain and having a septic tank is not that fun.
Wife and Daughter Dropped By Work Today. That was kind of fun, reason was Sharon does not like the Memory Foam Mattress I got her when she got married. Said it was to hard? This mattress to me is the softest mattress we carry? First time she got married I got her a Kingsdown Mattress and they are the best. Hers would have cost $3000.00 and worth every penny! She let Chuck, her X keep it.
