Gidday Chloe, just a green tea please.
Just got back from over the hill, a great day was had by all, took the starving university students out to lunch, then we all had fish and chips for tea with the mother-in-law and my wifes youngest brother. The weather was fine and dry, excellent driving conditions, think we’ll have a frost tonight.
Tonight we’re going further south to Dunedin to ride another passenger train.

As a young teenager I did not particularly like the Mitsubishi built Dj diesel electrics because they replaced the Ja’s, but I guess I’m mellowing as I’ve gotten older.Hmm

Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them.
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer please.

Work Stunk today, all I sold where two Queen bed frames.

Gary Hum, at first the tip you gave me did not work. (photo of the coal cars) Now, it is doing what I want it to, odd?

Glad some of you are enjoying the photos. I do need to add some more to post.

Trains are running great?Surprise My B&O SD 7 and 9 are now dragging a 15 foot long coal train.

YGW Yes I as well like N&W. I love by Y6b by PCM. It is what all steam engines (Models) want to be like. Need to get my caboose back in the back half shop and get her running again. I have ran the caboose out of her, sent her back to BLI one time because of a short problem. They could not fix her and offered me another engine instead (Not a Y6b and not a PCM). Told them no thanks, send her back and I will fix her. Got another 200 hours of run time out of her.

 Later, Ken

V8Vega

The Chromebook I got last Thanksgiving was my 1st laptop. The touchpad can be annoying but I was determined to use it. You do have to be careful to keep it from doing things you don't want.

THTA's the point: i don't even use it and it does crazy things if i lean against it, apparently.

I could not get the hang of using it to move to where I wanted it, wihtout "vclicking" something I did NOT want. Now it does crazy tings If I apparenly bump it, so I want to shut it off

BUT HOW?

There is the beach nearby, but neither of us can  that type of sun.

well,

Cramping NOT easing.

Frank with the sripes: not a good way to lose weight, I was so sick last year I lost 16 in just 3 days.ended up in the ER.

seeing as how I only ate very little the day before yesterday, and only ate dinner last night. I am PAYING for it today. I ate very little today.I will lose some much need-to-lose weight too.JUst the worng way to lose it.

Needless ot say by Monday, I will go to the Dr. I don't know what he can do.

Amtrak working to restore train travel. That is good. MOH,while in Baltimore and DC in JULY wanted to take the acela to DC, but at $325 a pop, wasn't so keen on it after all.

Monday we meet with the marriage counselor again.MOH was resitant to it, butwill still go. I think MOHhas a love/hate ideal with it.

I have seedlings planted, but I thik I will have to go buy the actual starter plants, as my seedlings are WAY behind. I am NOT the green thumb I used to be, and the raised brick planter out front has GOOD soil, and grows great plants..never tried some of those I want to try this year.

Does ANYBODY know how to diasable the "pad mouse" on a laptop? I bought a great portable travel mouse, its small, cute, is wireless and the USB wireless part secretes into the mouse and the mouse turns on/off it is small, but travels well, I keep getting strange messages up on the laptop, all because I accodentally touched the mouse pad on it. I HATE the pad mouse, it registed while moving around and 'clicks' where I don't want it to click on, clicks. Since I have ann external mouse, there SHOULD be a way too disable the pad mouse. I would think.

The desktop is getting very slow, and is :jerky" THAT is the biggest reason I bought the laptop. as a backup for the desktop. The price for  a touch screen laptop with apps capability and so forth is a step in the future direction. I will have to get an external hard drive to save personal docs onto,as I dont yet trust the "cloud".

The local universary is graduating its members capable.ALL hotels rooms in a 50 mile radius are booked solid.GO BU!

well, since I am not eating and only drinking water, I need to crack open a bottle of Pediasure pediatric electrolyte solution. They have created an adult version, but I have the pedialyte version.probably charge more foor the adult version. Losing fluids and lack of proper nutrition and replacing them is the key to surviving an stomach/intestinal illness.

well, I'd best go rest/...

Thanks Gang, glad you liked the pix.  I will try to get a few others in as well.

Garry, Frank, YGW, & Rob,  I guess I was stuck in the tunnel........  I changed the post and it now reads Victoria Day Week-end (Canada) . Its on the 24th but they moved it ahead this year to the Monday before it.  Do you Fellas south of the 49th get Veterans day or something ?  Maybe it is President's day,  not sure and can't remember. Whatever  you do, do have a good one.

Get well soon, Frank, Rob & Galaxy, I have a few stomach cramps here as well the last couple of days, but not to bad and hope it stays that way.

Johnboy out......................

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have my usual humongous cup of coffee with boo coo cream, please.

Very saddened to report that blues legend BB King has died at the age of 89.

AshamedAshamedAshamed

Mr. King influenced an entire generation of rock musicians including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and a whole host of players. I never got to see BB perform, but I was sure aware of his music.  Ok, Keith Richards was probably more influenced by Chuck Berry, but you get the idea.

I have to go to work, but here's a quote attributed to Mr. King:

"Ain't nobody but my mama loves me, and she could be jivin' too!"

I hope everyone is OK, safe and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Good evening from the heart of Lexington, KY for MCR convention.  Nice cool day for our drive down I-77 and I-64.

Mr. Beasley, as an other hockey fan, the Rangers - Caps game seven was about as good as they get.  Felt sorry for Holtsby after a really great effort for the previous seven games.  Have lost a fair amount of sleep watching hockey the last couple of weeks.

Ken ... Each image in PhotoBucket has four codes. .... Copy the one that is called "Direct" (It is 2nd of 4 in my PhotoBucket). ..... When posting here look at the icons above the posting body. ... One of them looks like a montain and a sun (5th icon from the left). Click on it. Paste the "Direct" code in "Source" box. Click the blue "Ok" button. .... Now your image will be in the post without links to your photobucket account.

Bear ... I just watched the video. Looks like a fun train ride.

 Afternoon Dinner?

Wake up Flo, I like a beer.

Nothing Fun to type about. Spent the day paying bills. Made the house payment to BoS and that all wise puts me in a foul mood.

Photo Bucket Question. I use to be able to post here at the site where if you click on the photo it would just make the photo larger. Now if you click on it, it opens up my account? How do you folk's avoide that here in the dinner? I am going to try the link here in the post section, hope that takes care of the problem.

Train Front. Odd, I added 8 more coal cars to the B&O SD7 and SD9 and so far nothing bad has happed? Whistling I know they are up to something. Smile, Wink & Grin

well, went to a dentist just steps down the street who can make partials/dentures quicker than mine. problem is they want to do a full denture on top[may be my only choice} at the tune of $2k. I don't know if that is good deal or not,but "affordable dentures" claim to make a full pair for a mere $475. They won't be the best, but...

haven't gotten my chariot back yet, Was supposed to take 4 days, so I  will call tomorrow about it. the rental is costing me more in gas money i think, and it is supposed to get higher mileage?

well, The tooth that needs to be pulled I may get pulled at the dental place I went to today they have a "free day" on Saturday.

well, thats about it from Lake WOE-IS-ME-again.

Hmmm.  Didn't Rabbi Tuckman use the word "geschicken" (Yiddish past participle of "shicken") in "Robin Hood - Men in Tights?"

I get the stitches out of my mouth where the tooth disappeared two weeks ago.  What fun.

Another good hockey game last night, this one on TV.  The Rangers beat the Capitals to take the best of seven series.  It was 2-1 in overtime.  I'm enjoying watching hockey this season.  My Boston Bruins didn't make the playoffs, so I can watch the games just to enjoy them, without being a fan getting in the way.  Also, I can sleep late after those long overtime games.  At my age, I'm as tired as the players the next morning.

Hey all

Been very busy. Still moving and working on getting my old house on the market and fixing broken stuff on the "new to me " home. Sigh exhausting.

Galaxy - dont have much use for people who get Shakkared ( hebrew version )  I have had five family members killed by drunk drivers. One was my Uncle and his daughter who were TBoned by an drunk driver. Two were hit while walking down teh street and the last was by another car accident. I think they should take the tax money they copllect off of alchol and pay it to the families who have lost loved ones.

Gota get back to w**k . Oh for some rest and relaxation !

Galaxy .... Interesting about the word, "shicker".

Speaking of shickers, today is the anniversary of the worst drunk driving accident in history.

On the night of May 14, 1988, a pickup traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 71 near Carrollton, Ky., collided head-on with a school bus carrying a church youth group from Radcliff, Ky., returning from an outing to Kings Island, Oh. The bus burst into flames, killing 27 people, most of them children. The inside of the bus was heated to 1500 to 2000 degrees, and the main door was blocked. The driver of the pickup had a blood-alcohol level of .24.

We pass the signs on I-71 when we drive between Louisville and Cincinnati. The signs say "SITE OF FATAL BUS CRASH - MAY 14, 1988.

Also, it was a shicker (I called him worse names) who drove into me at 50 mph about 25 years ago breaking vertebrae in my back.

So, please watch out for other drivers who might be drunk.

Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have a huge cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.

Yesterday, the design legislation that my group is the proponent of met in sub-committee of Ill state senate.  From what I've heard, the meeting took about three minutes in which we presented our case.  The opposition was present, but did not speak.  No vote was taken.  Funny, kind of a sharp contrast to all those paintings of Washington, Franklin, and all those guys in a room debating the issues of the day.

Nothing to report MRR wise.  Apparently, under a magnifying glass, with scale rule and calipers, the molded grabs on BB loco shells are to scale.  Further examination in daylight showed that a few of the holes that I drilled in my practice GP35 shell were not dead on.  I've used a big needle that I Gorilla glued to a dowel rod to make a probe, to make the pilot holes.  So, I guess I need to make the holes in daylight under a magnifying glass.  Ah, the fun of growing old.

Well, have to go to work.

I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Last Monday we visited the Weka Pass Railway and saw A428 an NZR A Class Pacific with goods (freight) train. Tonight we’re back for a second look, this time on a relaxed passenger train. The narrator made one slip of the tongue by referring to the diesel electric locomotive as a Da Class, when it is actually an English Electric built Dg that was introduced into service in 1956. The Da Class diesel electrics were built by EMD and first introduced a year earlier.
