Morning Folks!
The last couple of days have not been really good to me. My BP was down to 110/70, while my heart rate varied from 55 to 90, making me feel just awkward. I could not do a thing, no HD list, no MRRing. Most of the time I just dozed away. Monday will see a trip to my cardiologist to have a word with him about this. I wish I could go earlier, but today is a public holiday here and he has taken a few days off over this long weekend. If need be, there is still the hospital...
Nothing for me today, Janie! May I just sit quietly in the corner booth and doze a little?
Have a good one, everyone!
Hi Gang, what there is of you.
WOW, only four posts since noon. Can't have that, so here is the fifth.
Night all, sleep well, Prayers and blessings to all who stand in need.
Prayers to all affected by the Amtrak crash in Philly.

Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a refil for me decaf please...
Been a long day, but a fun one as well. Headed out to the Museum for the first run of the season out there. As usual I was car host on the old Erie Caboose. We had 53 8th. graders from Brockport Central School for a day at the museum... They were great kids and seemed to really enjoy riding on the train.
Since I got home I have been finishing up several loose threads for the convention. I think we are ready to put on a great weekend for some model railroaders from all over... Tonight I have been collecting all the equipment I will be bringing, putting all the paperwork in boxes and cleaning house! Last night My son stopped on the way home and helped me get the old comfey chair out of the dining room and back out in the living room along with the coffee table.
Tomorrow morning bright and early I will be going to my granddaughters' school for a special event. My son will be with #2 in her kindergarten room and #1 requested that I go see her in the 2nd grade... Then my son is coming over to get my small trailer and take a cord of wood over to his house. Gonna put the girls to work carrying the firewood he says. I still have to finish getting everything ready to go, pack my suitcase, finish vacuming the house, and mow the lawn also tomorrow...
Been chilly and windy in this part of the world today.
Have a great night! Prayers for those in need...

We'll get there sooner or later!
Evening Dinners
Flo, please and some weed killer.
I was off today. I only got one thing done that I wanted to do, cut the front grass. Felt pretty good when I woke up. Sue had a Dr appoinment at 10:30 AM and I don't want to cut grass while she is gone. While I do not have any heart problem's, you never know. She had a free $10.00 gift card she wanted to use and did not get home till 1:00 PM. By that time I was not feeling well.
I had planned on triming the bushes and cleaning the gutters. Well maybe latter in life.
Latter, Ken
I hate Rust
yep.
The intestina grumblies are kicking my butt.
Ate only very little as i have zero appetite. won't hurt none on the lose weight front, but not good cause of illness. Have not had to run to the facilities YET. but it is coming. there is something going around
We are going to Essex Conn. for the steam train/riverboat ride there next weekend.A continued theme on my "MUST GET AWAY" for the month. Staying in a fairly cheap red roof with complete kitchenette.
If'fen y'all are wondering:

so that is where we are going anywhere soon.
there has been little interaction today in here, wonder what's up?
The fight wiht the cable company is not over, I am exploring the "freebies" on Roku..liking it. Takes a bit getting used to, and getting "on demand" slightly delayed news, but it works. only 6 channels/net on cable for $80, I DON'T THINK so, nor does MOH, we wont go to hte land line's system as is like dial-up, but TWC s channels are not the only ones. That and hte man at teh counter took 15 minutes to "name our package" on hte computer..i digress read above..
i feel like KEN..i want a , NOT though.
Does anybod KNOW: I jave a mini-mouse to go with the laptop...HOW do i "turn off " the sensitive pad for mouse usage on this laptop???
dunno.
later, think beddy-time will be EARLY tonight.

Good Afternoon,
A cool, cloudy day here at about 50F and showers coming. Mind you we do need the rain.
In order to 'get me going' again on the RR front, I ordered a BLI Mike yesterday. CN had hundreds of them including a few USRA versions so it seems appropriate for my little RR. I bought the GTW version as the paint on the loco is closer to CN practice than the CN version BLI produces. Why, who knows. Same thing for the Pacific they produced. I have been running a few trains and did install a few more power poles on the layout. My wife says I need to run wires to them but that would be a very big, tedious job. My next project is to do some mooring lines using thread for my tugboat. As a former boater it just doesn't look right without mooring lines.I will just glue some loops at the end of the lines as I'm not up to doing an eye splice in thread. With 1/2" nylon rope, ok but not thread.
Well we finally have the suitcases put away and all the laundry done from the trip. My wife tends to pack a lot of clothes for every possible event and so her suitcase was at the max for weight on airlines at 52lbs. For these safari trips we also have to take the equivalent of a small drug store since you are out of luck if you don't take it with you. The nearest store at some camps would be a couple of hours away by small plane. If any of you are interested I could post a little re-cap of some of our adventures. In all we made a total of 15 flights on the trip on everything from a new Airbus 380 to a Cessna 206.
Well soon time for something.
CN Charlie
well,
I've got the intestinal grumblies today, I think MOH may have had a bug while away, as a friend's OH had it, an now I got it.
We went to Time Warner adn fought with the kid behind the counter aobut the "deal" we agreed to on hte phone, He says we can't have it. SO later on MOH nad I are going to call AGAIN to see what they tell us. Not only THAT, but the kid at the counter first siad it'd be $60-some dollars for channels 2-7 and 'net, but then when finishing said it'd be $80-some dollars...even HE could not make up his mind. took TOO LONG so we said give us the generic box and let us GO, as MOH had to be at work.
SO, we may drop hthe cable all together and try a digital antenna. We can only get 6 channels form TWC, well, we can get 3 from the Digital antenna....why pay for cable at all? of course there is NO guarantee we will get ANY stations on the digital antenna.
GRRR
well, MOH hsould be home soon, I hope, the client MOH was with just called here, so I know MOH is no longer with said client. Lets see how fast MOH gets home.
well. back to my digestive falterings.
hope all have a great day.
Extra strong Italian roast coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Healing thoughts to those in need.
Have a terrific day all.
Cheers! Rob
Morning diners,
We had car troubles two days ago. It started to smell and the car's engine light was on. The car was taken to the dealership to check the problems. It turned out to be a misaligned spark plug and a plastic bag under the muffler.
Train News: What I learned about the Amtrak accident. The train (188) ran to fast on the tracks and jumped to the right side.
When I saw the Amtrak train derail pictures I noticed the ACS-64 #601... The same number what Kato is planning on making into production.
Amtrak America, 1971-Present.
Good morning. I played an awesome game of hockey last night. Not quick and athletic, not making those showboat saves, just a very good mental game of seeing where the shot was going to come from and imposing my carcass between the shooter and the net. Thanks also to Old Joe, Wayneaux and Red Gloves for clearing the rebounds, too.
Dour. I hope that won't be me. I saw the doctor and he put me on another blood sugar medication. Hopefully it won't completely drain me like the last one did.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Thoughts and prayers this morning for victims of the Amtrak disaster. As I understand this morning in addition to the 6 dead, there are 5 in critical condition that need our thoughts amongst the 140 injured.
Derek
Edit : now at noon 7 confirmed dead and to quote officials over 200 being treated or have been treated at area hospitals.
Good Morning Diners,
Flo, I'll have my usual gig ante cup of coffee with boo coo cream, please.
Been busy last several days helping "the Kids" with their upcoming move. Last nite I helped DIL clean out the kitchen cabinets from construction dust. Then she and MOH unpacked dishes, etc. I'm excited for them.
this evening taking small break to attend monthly meeting of one of my design organizations.
Bad train derailment near Philadelphia last night. So far, six fatalities and several critical injuries.
Supposed to be sunny today. Yay! But, its still cool. Bummer!
well, have to run.
i hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. Ulrich. Though to be fair for years radio and TV newsreaders were expected to speak a form of BBC English. This narrator isn’t too bad though... (plus it’s got a Ja at speed)......
herrinchokerIs there a particular reason for this?? (the closing of the tunnel)
"One difference between pessimists and optimists is that while pessimists are more often right, optimists have far more fun."
To JaBear---
Question about the Midland Coal--around 2.07 the train enters into a building at the base of a hill/tunnel--as the last car enters the opening a large door slides into place, closing off any entry, it then shows the train exiting a tunnel. Is there a particular reason for this?? (the closing of the tunnel)
Enjoy watching the videos

Ulrich: I know many refer to their spouse as their "better half". but we DON'T do that, as that implies one is less than the other, and that is not the case. we re both at fault and both to blame for getting to where we are, even IF there is one of us up to no good more than the other. But the "better half" syndrome is all relative as to WHO is teh "better one". Hope that makes sense to you. MOH is ALWAYS MY OTHER HALF.
I have to find out yet how much of therapy is covered by my insurance. Then we can make appts. SO that is on my agenda. If couples therapy interrupts the single therapy I have, my sinle therapy said we will adjust it for in favor of couples therapy, as that is just as important or almost as important as my solo outlet.
I also have 3 spots on my leg not healing and three spots on my stomach that are not healing.....See the dermatologist in a week anda half. FInd oout whats going on then I hope, I am not diabetic yet, but the spots are not healing like I was.
I met with the psychiatrist, and we are working on the med situation.seems I have developed a mean streak and nasty dispositon with people. He thinks more because we dropped teh expensive out of pocket med that insurance wont cover now, in favor of the cheaper one.If I get short and nasty with you guys, blame it on the meds/lack of...just so you know. It hasn't happend here yet, but I have been limiting expose to you guys...
well, nap time was interrupted by the therapist and the psychiatrist, so i go now. for a nap. before I get testy.AGAIN..and you won't like it
later.
Good morning. 51 outside, going up to the 80s, then tomorrow will barely reach 60 again. I'm fine with that. The house can coast through a day or two of hot weather if I keep it closed up during the day. After that, it needs the AC. Although central air may be more energy-efficient overall, I suspect that our limited used of room units actually costs less than trying to cool the whole house, particularly when Penny doesn't like it cool.
I took apart that little turntable and found the broken wires. Unfortunately, "took apart" at one point meant "fell apart," and now I've got a broken drive shaft where the pickup rings pass through. I'll probably go back to the ancient Atlas deck that I was going to use before I found my train show "gem." The Atlas is a hand-crank drive and it handles the polarity flips, so I can eliminate the little control panel, anyway.
Have a great day, everyone!
Lunchtime in Germany!
We´ll be having Petra´s award winning potato salad with deep fired fillet of fish - yummy!
It´s fairly hot and humid today. As it looks now, there are some thunderboomers heading our way.
No major plans for the rest of the day, no MRRing, as I am out of supplies, which I will be able to order not before next month. It´s not really much, just a few things I need to do the wiring, like terminal strips, a few push button switches and wire clamps. Thos efew things add up to $ 30 + p&p - unbelievable!
JaBear - again, thanks for sharing the vids. New Zealand is such a beautiful country! The accent is a little strange, though
Ken - the layout will finally be DCC. It´s already going to be wired for that, but I operate it on DC until it is thoroughly tested. There is an open issue with the power supply for the switch motors.
Galaxy - I am glad to hear that YBH has agreed to counseling and seems to like the counseler!
From me: the USUAL morning greetings! I just don't feel like the charade this AM...
RAY: we had NOT YET gone to counselling when I wrote that, MOH was Resistant the closer it got. BUT: we met the therapist whom we both like. so as long as insurance will proceed, we will see him. His office is actually on the second floor, and he endeared himself to MOH when he paused, and asked if stairs were difficult for me {yes especially LONG staircases}, so we met downstairs in a conference room instead. We both agreed on him and so we will continue. AT least now, MOH WANTS to go.That is a step in the right way.
ROKU: RAY: you can select which "channels" or "stations" or "shows" you want to watch. SInce you don't do TV,so it may be great or kinda hard for you...you will have to try it out. Some stations cost a small fortune so you won't get anything over on the cable company, but if you select something like Netflix {$7.99-9.99/month}, you get lots to choose from for that amount. News seems to be free on ROKU, but national news it is, no local news. At least I haven't found it yet if it exists on ROKU. I am quite happy with the $8.99 we pay for netflix/roku on top of the "cheap" cable bill., though. YOu WILL need the high speed net and wifi to set it up, cost me money to get it set up as we didn't have wifi, so bought one of those routers, and is FAR EASIER with the new laptop sitting in front of the TV instead of running between the LR and the Computer room for the desktop.I should be able to watch netflix on hte laptop too.I am still learning, getting the hang of it. but so far, I LIKE IT.
well, the next 3 days we have to take the fancy decoder box back to the cable company, then only the first 20 cable channels and ROKU it is.
The only tooth on upper left now gone, my partial doesn't wnat to stay in very well. Even with "glue" Have to have a new one made. no two ways about it, now i will have to wait aobut 2 months for it. UGH. Forget about the money.
well, best get my day started, I have the psychatrist and my Mental health counselor today, so busy day, I think I drop by my father's too. all day afair and taking place right during my nap time!!!
later guys
Good evening diners. Another hot day in SE Ohio but it finally did rain after 4 weeks of dry weather. Spent the afternoon mowing and doing other yard work sandwiched into a little modeling time to finish up a scratch built building I decided to enter in this weeks regional NMRA meeting in Lexington, KY. Spent the evening filling out the entry paperwork.
Have to figure out why my granddaughter's old Subaru won't start tomorrow. Probably suffering from a toasted battery. She is a good kid and is planning on helping me clean out my garage next week as she has recoverd from her drive home from college for the summer.
Hopefully thoughts for all those with physical ailments.

Flo, Beer Please
Over all it has been a boring day. Only had two customers at work and sold nothing. Did get a lot of reading done. I am only had a few things to do at the store so my Work Athone is over.
Of to U Tube. Been watching old Bob Newheart shows.
Ken
Janie a glass of ice cold lemonade would be good this evening...
I have spent most of the day right here in my dining room/office getting last minute stuff done for the convention. I did have my 6 month check up at the Doctor early this afgternoon. He said everything looks good on my blood tests and I seem to be healthy and fit.... I weighed 5 lbs. less than 6 months ago, my A1C came back once again as 5.8 (has been that for 4 years straight he said) total Cholesterol was 146 and the HDL was 36. My risk factor is almost half the Average for a male. Only thing that was higher than I hoped is the Uric Acid... that is always high even though I avoid all the bad foods that cause it. He wanted to know if I had any recent Gout attacks. I told him one that I remembered a couple months ago. He also had me get the new Pneumonia vaccine while I was there.
Mailed out a package of a piece of the new carpet and some color swatches to my son in Chicago right after I left the doctors office...
Galaxy, glad things went well at the counciling session today. Hope you two can work out the difficulties!!! I may look into Roku after I complete the rebuild in the living room... Might be something I would use now and again.
I heard from a freind of mine from church that I did make the Sunday Morning TWC news program. Had 2 clips of me as Car Host he said. All of about 8 seconds maybe. Of course I can't get the video they showed to play here on my computer....
Have a geat night everyone! Prayers for all in need...
well, resistant or not, MOH and I went to marriage counselling. We both like hte therapist, who upon seeing my cane, asked if going up to his office would be a hardship, {yes} so we met downstairs, he accomodated me easily, MOH liked that fact. SO did I, naturally, SO we WILL continue. the therapist thinks we both have baggage still in our relationship that s causing trouble. we agree with everything he siad, and agreed to the terms he laid out, so now is to find our "time slot" for the weekly sessions.
That is that. We had a VERY hot day today. now "cooled down to 78F"...it is supposed to rain overnihgt.
Watching Roku, MOH is now getting inot it, though DID resist at first. We are {LOL] watching the "Munsters". I was very young whne it came out ,but still enjoy it, lol.
well, early to bed {and hopefully to sleep finally} early to rise...so see you inthe monring
V8Vega Today is trash day, a busy day for my Border Collie, and on my daily walk I found a BRAND NEW pair of dress shoes perfect for church sitting by a trash bin. They have non slip soles required at my age and fit perfectly.

That is another $100.00 for the layout. Nice find.

Good Evening
Raining here now, and the temperature dropped a bit. We are on a severe thunderstorm watch here though.
After getting groceries we spent the day putzing in our garden getting some stuff planted and talking to neighbours.
Hope everyone has a good evening...
