Been quite in here, looks like all the dinners have great weather!
Sparkie And Ken's Boy Day. Sue went to visit one of her gril friends so Sparkie and I spent a hour laying on the bed watching the History Channel. Personally I think why Sparkie gets sick to his stomach is because of the crap my wife watches. Seems like she all wise has a show on where the woman have had inplants and our screaming at each other and talking behinde each other backs?
Sparkie and I took a short Road Trip. Sue will fill her pants when she finds out, she is so afraid he will it away from me? He was well behaved in the car. We stopped at the Libary, then took a short walk in the park nextto it. Drove around a little and came home.
Did some running. Bought a few affordable steaks and some pork kabobs. Yum. Also bought a Leaf Rake! I have lived here for 21 years and never raked the leafs, just mowed them in the spring.
This summer I finally got sick on the mess. So I raked the yard today. Around a 1/3rd of the leafs are still on the tree so I will have to rake again, but not as much. Then I cut the grass, wife has been in my caboose for a month now saying "I cannot see where I am walking!" Hum, there where a few hight spots but mainly if was not for a few leafs I missed, I would not have knowen where I had all ready cut?
BBQ is done and so am I. Later, Ken and Sparkie The Rocket Dog!

Good Evening!
It´s pitch black and dark outside - time to light up a fire in the fireplace - if I had one...
My body systems seem to get into hibernating mode I feel sleepy all day long.
Ray - I am sure building the layout will be fun. I won´t be rushing in this time. Maybe that´s an advantage when you do your modeling on a shoestring budget - it gives you ample time to think about what you´re doing while you save up the money for the next step.
Supper time is coming fast and I am hungry - I had only a sandwich for lunch...
Before leaving - I´d like to share the view from our living room with you, taken an hour ago:
CU tomorrow!
First off: I had to skedaddle out of here early to go to PT, so:
Second: Garry: I figured you were no where near my roots {pronounced "ruts" to us'ns here} as there ain't much out there! The county seat has a pop. of just 1,800 people, cats and dogs, mules and chickens.
Third: YGW: Yes, I are one hillbilly. And dang proud of it! NY from KY via MICHIGAN, actually...IBM done planted my paw out here in the green acres of the southern tier of Upstate NY for a good job back in the 60s. He done got here from IL via MI also! MI is the common element here that done brung us'ns all together...afore moving to the big state of New York-ville!
Fourthly: RAY!:Bite your tongue! just becasue the wather man may use terms like "sn*w", "flurr*es", "wh*te stuff" and such, doesn't mean you have to too! They like to bandy about with shocking words like that at seasons change! You may get it, we may not, nyan nyan nyan...!!!
Fifthly: Jeffrey!Unless i missed it, Jeffrey hasn't been in today? I think it was moving day, iff'en I remember correctly? Maybe he can WALK THERE under his own power!
well, I have some banking to record {just moving money around to pay some bills-the Xmas presents I ordered} so I'd best get at it.

ulrich - Wow that is great new for the price of used ! Cant beat that !!!
Ken - grits are made from corn- Put some butter little salt, some pepper - yum! Or mix some cheese Or a little sugar Or ..okay I am feeling like Bubba from Forest gump talking about shrimp.. How do you survive on such poor sales ? Geez a man would starve to death on that !
Galaxy - So does that mean you are a Hillbilly ? How in the world did you end up in NY via Kentucky ? I think I would move back as soon as I could ! Some day I hope to return to Roanoke area of Va ( yes I am a hillbilly too : ) )
Mr. B. Oh my gosh I wish I was closer to retirement, wow good luck with that.
Inch - thanks for the prayers ! Back pain is awful !
Dennis B. Did you build the doodlebug ?
Garry - Howdy again. Thanks for the prayer for my daughter.
Welp its Tuesday and I have a production meeting to attend. Gotta get to w**k on last minute detials - sigh - I wish we could move these out to once a month ! Awell it pays for my train addiction.

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, a short stack of buckwheat pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, a sausage patty, and a couple eggs over easy would go great with my Seneca Lake Blend dark roast coffee this morning.
Warmer than yesterday in the Finger Lakes. That is what the Weather Channel says about here today, "Warmer than Yesterday!" Currently 65°F going up to 77°F this afternoon. Tonight we are in for thunderboomers they say.
I should glean the garden today. Have to dig the carrots, bring in the last of the peppers, one eggplant still on the plant, and see if there are still any zucchini out there. Need to cut and remove the asperagus fern and other stuff by the side of the house. By this Saturday we may see a few little white things fall from the sky.... I also need to move the picnic table on the deck back to it's "Off Season" location. Should get out the sn*w blower to ward off any accumulations for the next month.... (If I leave it out in the shed I will have to dig my way out to the shed to get it out when it is needed. Getting it out now will mean I won't have any white stuff to shovel for a while longer!)
Ah.... Calvin and Hobbs! One of my favorite Comic Strips! A lot of good wisdom is in Calvin and Hobbs...
Mr. B enjoy your retirement! I do!!! Six Saturdays and one Sunday in every week... Keep on playing hockey and skiing my friend!
Ulrich looking forward to seeing your progress with your layout. I hope and pray it turns out to be a lot of fun!
Oooooooo! What was that flash of light outside. Something going like a speed demon! Probably never heard of speed limits! The ......... Huh? Oh just Jeffrey out for his daily walk...... Seriously it is good to hear of your daily gains! Keep it up.
Have a good one! Catch you all later.

Good morning everyone!
Ken, yes, I'm looking forward to retirement. It's not "forced," and the decision is mine. Lately, I've found that my job has no challenges, and the commute is getting more irritating every day. I look at things to do around the house differently now, as I will actually have time to do them. We plan on doing a lot of mid-week skiing this winter. Last Saturday I picked up my first "retirement project" that was specifically ordered as a retirement project, not just another kit that I bought years ago that I haven't gotten around to yet. And, upon retirement, I will achieve a goal that I never thought I'd get to -- I will retire from work before I retire from ice hockey.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
My first purchase in The Bay was just delivered. Those Minitrix switch motors advertised as "used" are brand new! Makes me happy!
Good Morning!
Another sunny day lies ahead of us That´s my season!
No real plans, just trying to figure out how to attached that curved backdrop to the benchwork. There is a tricky part to it - the overhang above the track. Guess I will have to build some sort of open-sided box to go over the track for that.
Ken - the layout is "only" 6´6" by 2" - big enough for some nice scenery, but small enough not to be too intrusive. I think I will make a set of legs with casters, so we can move it out of the way, should the need be.
Jeff - 45 ft You have been doubling the distance day by day now. In a few days, you will be able to walk from the East- to the West coast!
Make it a happy day!
Jeffery Sounds like Army Food to me! Well the grits part. Being from the North I never had Grits till I was stationed at FT Bragg NC. Think that was the last time I had them as well, not even sure what they where made from? If you where Hungry they stuck to your ribs! Well they all so stuck to your plate, fork and floor if you dropped them!
Congrats On the 54 Feet today as well! Are you just holding on to the walker and using the one leg till you get your new leg?

Boy, the dinner has some customers I see! My comany on the other hand, this weekend was a Disaster! Sunday all the store compined only had $400.00 in sales! YGW, that tells you how my sales are going.
Mr B Are you looking foward to retirement? I have heard it is not all it is cracked up to be. But I sure like to give it a try!
Inch Hum, he is in the 101st right? Hum, Well even a Screaming Chicken Deserve some . Funny, being in the 18th Airborn the 101st did not like us, and we did not like them in public. But we would go to hell and back if one was in trouble. God Speed To Him And The Screaming Chickens!
Ulrich Glad to hear things are come togather for you with the layout. How big is it in feet and inches?
Trains are running well tonight. See you all Tuesday, I am off!

Sir Madog I am currently searching the web for a cheap source of cork roadbed, but with no luck. The best bet I have right now is to buy a 3mm sheet of cork and cut my own roadbed from it. The edges would need sanding, though, which will give Petra the fits

ULRICH,
in N scale you should have no problem in putting down a small strip of glue or caulking on the edge of the cork and taper that and the ballasting will hide all. Also no mess for Petra.
Well gang, I finished up all the fall work as of yesterday. The rest of the leaves, deck furniture is stored, I could have done a little more trimming ,but that will still be there in the spring.>>>>> and today it is snowing.... This isn't supposed to stay but gives you a feeling of what is yet to come for good.
Today, I have stored the screen from the new Garden door for the winter, cleaned the clothes dryer and a pre-filter that I have for it and now I am going to adjust the walk-in garage door from the house. It isn't bad but it does whistle sometimes when the wind is from that direction. should be a small adjustment.
Garry, indeed prayers are with those going to attend to that awful mess in those countries of Africa and all serving wherever on the globe. Also for that Family that the tradegy befell in your community. I loved those pumpkins too.
to our Marathon Man Jeff, that is a great accomplishment. Keep up the good work but don't push so far that another injury appears.
Great to hear from you again Inch, glad you got the licence back, boy 16 years that is one heck of a wait. Congratulations for hanging in there.
Br. B. congrats on the up coming retirement, that is wonderful. However you will be surprised that the extra time you thought you would have get filled so very quickly and you start to think did I really retire ?
Sure would like to hear from Paul in and around Fernley, Nevada. It has been a long time since he has checked in. Keith "Blazzin" checked in earler this month but nothing again since. I also think of Sue and Larry in Oregon and wonder how their lives are going. She was always so much fun when posting. One other that has been scarce here is Seamonster from Winnipeg, CN. Charlie and Blind Bruce, have you heard anything of him ??
Choo Choo Willy, your wife is very smart. Sometimes one needs to step back a moment, but that does not mean you back away entirely. From now on there will be no more Convertible for a number of months, so you fill that with railroad time.
Back to work tomorrow for a couple, then "All Hallow's Eve", need to get a haircut and I also see the Cancer Clinic Doctors and Team this week, so it will really be buzy for this ol' phart the next while.
The very best to you all, and keep smiling, it sure looks good on ya.

~ First off healing thoughts, energies and prayers for those in need.
~Positive energy gives Jeffrey the what-for for How-to in learning to walk!
~the ordering is done for Xmas, though I may do another item or two. My original idea is taken care of though..santa has struck! No, again, not train stuff, I am amazed at how much train stuff I have accumulated!
~Garry did I ever tell you my maternal roots are in KY?
~Mr B: congrats on retiring and accumulations of paid time..My father's last day of work was 1/2 day on Oct 10th, and official retirement day was just after the 1st, so he got another set of sick/personal/vacation days and last full "paycheck" was on March 15th!
~At my urging, MOH called the infusion room...and got the info desk by mistake..and said why we were calling {about the infusion} so the INFO desk called the infusion center to see WHO dropped the ball! THE INFUSION dept. at the HOSPITAL dropped the ball! It turns out they DID have the infusion Order, just backlogged and not bothering to tell anyone! SO it happens Thursday the 30th. SO happy, maybe now MOH won't be in such pain. Maybe. I hope. I won't even start on the hospital..let s just say its the least of two entities here, but getting a bad rap all on its own! There is another entity a whole "state away" across the border in PA, but not so sure it is so great either...
Well best get on with it,,gettting a headache. DOing nothing that is...but best get on with it...
Meatloaf with grass-fed beef tonight for dinner {sorry Jeffrey}.
Happy Monday, everyone.
Jeffrey, sometimes I think that hospitals deliberately serve bad food to give you more incentive to leave.
Right now, we don't touch the phone. We've got an election going on, mostly for Governor but the Congressional race is interesting, too. It's kind of amusing to have their machine talking to our machine with no human intervention at all. I think this election has succeeded in convincing my wife that we don't need the land line phone at all, something I've never been able to get her to accept.
Retirement countdown:
33 work days, 70 calendar days.
I will be retiring right after the first of the year. I have vacation time to use, and we get almost 2 weeks at Christmas, which is why there's such a difference between those numbers.
Inch - our thoughts go out to your grandson - may he return safe &sound from this mission!

Hello all.
Jeff glad to see you still fighting the good fight. i still think you are amazing. I am not sure if I could have kept my chin up like you have. You are an inspiration to many.
Ulrich - so you are ordering track ? Does that mean you are not throwing in teh RR towel ? That is great news if so !
Garry - Howdy !
Ken - How are sales going ?
Still need prayers for my daughter. Went to teh saw bones Friday and we received good news and bad news. Good news on the MRI of teh upper portion of her back. All is good. Bad news. The techs forgot to shoot portions of lower back. Had to go back in the tube for more shots and yet another Doctors visit to find the cause of her pain.
MRR - Front - working with so guys on teh redesign of my layout and discussing working on Master model cert.
Good morning everybody. ... I'll have apple cider and a doughnut please.
Tragedy in our little county yesterday. KY State Police are investigating 4 people shot to death in a home. Three are family members who were highly respected people. The 4th person may have shot the family members and then killed himself.
CN and Charlie and Cdn Dennis. Great to see you!. Please visit the Diner soon again.
Inch ... Keeping your gandson in prayers. I have a neighbor who is high ranking Army guy in Ft. Campbell.
Todd. ..... Good to see you here also. Hope all is well in your family.
Ulrich ... Glad you will ahve a lyout soon.
Jeff ... Great news about your progress. Sorry to hear about food.
Galaxy ... Good seeing you of course. Gladd your shopping is nearly done.
Ray ... You are a busy person. Great !
V8 ... Club layout sound impressive.
Ken ... Good to hear you fixed the GP30. Those gears a troublesome, I know.
On the layout, I worked on track for a while last night.
Happy Model Railroading !
Zoe, what's on the menu for breakfast today? Brick Grits, See thru Bacon, and sulpherous smelling Scrambled Eggs...... Ah..... How about I just get a cup of dark roast coffee for the moment.... No dark roast? Only have watered down brown flavorless stuff.... Hmmmmm. Oh! We are celebrating Jeffrey walking 45' without any legs and just a walker.... I see. Maybe I'll just sit and chat with the folks over in the booth at the back.... They're in Isolation? Oh, they flew in an airplane that traveled directly over West Africa.... OK, I guess I'll go sit with Ulrich at the rivet counter... Yes, I'll use the antimicrobal stuff on my hands... All over my body.....???
Ulrich Sounds like you soon will be having some fun building the layout! I wish you all the best with this and do hope you have fun.
Never did get in here yesterday other than to read up on the days postings. Yesterday was the last day of regular operations at the R&GV RR Museum and after the last trip with a few passengers North we had to load up all the decorations, including several bales of straw, used on Saturday for the Halloween Trolley event which came down to Midway Station. By the time all the thanks for a great season and standing around chatting got done with I didn't get home until 6:20PM. Grabbed some "whatever I had in the house" for supper, then lit the wood stove. Started the computer to check the emails, and come over to the Kalmbach site... Did a bit of reading and posted on the Show Me thread and went into the living room to turn down the stove which had started up and was putting out some major heat. Decided my aching back might benefit from some of the nice radient heat emiting from the wood stove so I laid down on the carpet next to it. Manét came right over to snuggle as always, and the two of us woke up at 10:15PM....
Blackie got his evening meds late, I reloaded the stove for the night, cleaned the litter box, fed my two old fish in the 20 gallon aquarium, got my CPAP ready to go, and turned the computer off. Got to bed about 11PM and managed to pull myself into a sitting position and get my feet on the floor around 9:30AM this morning. Guess I needed the sleep!
Catch you all later!
~Todd...my father does that..he won't answer if not in arms reach...I CARRY my CORDLESS phone around, however, MOH MAY get an important call I MUST take! SO, In order to NOT miss any, I will carry it with me.
Jeffrey! Glad the hear of the 54'! when do you move? I always ordered A la Cart for breakfast..2 scrambleds, 2 toast, homefries extra crispy {doens't mean i got them that way}, cran & Apple juices {a whole 4 oz each...two swallers and you're done} and 2 coffees..they only put half a cup so as to avoid spills! THAT is MY style of Breakfast...as long as on "regualr menu" and not "caloried menu"...
~ well I placed two online oreders..one is Santas gifts, and other needed er um ah unmentionedables...and a new shirt that will FIT well.
~Have one more Xmas order to make and then DONE for XMAS...yes ALREADY! Will even be paid for {I hope} by Xmas
~ I expect MOH home soon as client as issues so short sessions....
~ well best get at it..
Good Afternoon!
I feel asleep while watching a train movie on TV - now I am all stiff and sore
I put in my order for the missing track, so by the end of this week, I will have all the track I need for my little layout. The only missing item is roadbed. I am not decided on whether I will use cork roadbed or whether I should give the WS foam stuff a try. The foam roadbed may become brittle after some time.
Jeff - shame on the kitchen staff! What a way to start the day. During my various stays in our hospital, breakfast was the highlight of the day. Maybe it was just because I was really hungry in the morning. Meals are being served at odd times in hospitals - breakfast at 8am (they wake you up at 6am), lunch at 11.20am and dinner at 5pm - 15 hours without food can be a long time. Hope your lunch and dinner will make up for the bad breakfast!
Breakfast was terrible. Felt like I needed a jack hammer for the grits! I could see through the bacon and the eggs had a sulphurus odor. In physical therapy I made fifty-four feet on the walker. A great accomplishment for a man with no legs.

Here is your word of the day {If you can pronounce it}:
(AN-ti-muh-TAB-uh-lee) noun: A repetition of words or an idea in a reverse order.
Example: "To fail to plan is to plan to fail".
Etymology: From Greek antimetabole, from anti- (opposite) + metabole (change), from meta- (after, along) + bole (a throw). Earliest documented use: 1589
Modern Usage:
"Carl Sagan's antimetabole 'absence of evidence is not evidence of absence' immediately comes to mind."Dieter Hartmann; A Multi-Messenger Story; Nature (London, UK); Jul 21, 2011.
Here are your quotes for the day:
I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made. -Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd US President (1882-1945)
Language is a form of human reason, which has its internal logic of which man knows nothing. -Claude Levi-Strauss, anthropologist (1908-2009)
It´s nice to be woken up by the sunlight in the morning. Due to setting our clocks back, sunrise is now at 6.45am, but sunset already at 4.45pm. By December 21st, that will be at 8.30am in the morning and 3.15pm in the afternoon.
I bought a pair of switch motors from the bay. They are brand new, but only half the regular price. I guess by the end of this week, I will have all the track I need at hand. Coming Thursday I have an appointment at my garage to get my tires changed for those fur-lined ones. The garage is right next to the store I have the give voucher from, so while I get the tires exchanged, I´ll be able to buy the lumber for the benchwork. What I am not yet sure about is, whether I should mount the layout on those brackets I had my old layout on, or whether I should built legs with casters. If I mount the layout on those shelf brackets, I will have some difficulties reaching the staging tracks later on. May be a wise move to put the layout on legs, although this will add to the cost.
Galaxy - I have given up on trying to understand how the US healthcare system works. It seems to be inefficient and overly bureacratic. All I have to do is to present my little chip card when I go see my doc. When I go to a pharmacy to get my meds, I have to pay a prescription fee amounting to anything between $ 6 and $ 12, depending on the medication, but not more than $ 140 a year. The system is astonishingly easy to administrate - at least for a patient.
Have a great week!
wow, no one in for 6 hours?
Ulrich: we do the set-back of clocks next weekend, the 2nd. I dread ti. It will be getting dark as I go get the mail almost! 4pm dark zone straight ahead!
~Speaking of mail, it will now start getting here later and later as the holidays near, IF people are going to spend any money, or like us have any to spend at all...our budgets have gone up on things like energy, the phones, car repairs, cr insurance, so that shortens the budget for other things.Glad I got the pay-down done I did these last two months as it looks to be impossible later on to have any extra budget wise...I have worked th current budgetfourteen ways to sunday and MOH wants to quite the second job, which I don't blame, so it will cut us shorter still.
~I do have a package coming via mail, slow so with no tracking ID on it so I will have to wait patiently, the old way, no its not train stuff, its needed though.
~Clothing. Trying a new company with cheap prices to see how well their clothes hold up! The added weight I gained with the help of a new med has caused me to need new clothes. I am buying them sparingly as I don't intend to stay the added weight though...
~I will order a FEW items for Xmas..Santa will spend only about $100-120 this year. And that will have to Jan to pay off.
~I will have to see what MOH wants to get me {it will be a surprise, but will need my CC to execute the purchase}, I will only allow $50 as half of the $100-120 will be for both of us from Santa, you know.
~Hopefully the Santa gifts we get form parents will be "green" in color....that will help out a lot. But will probably go towards medical bills. MOH has a surgery coming up we will need to pay for.
~well, enough moaning...I guess,
~been a sslow day for me, and OH came home, collapsed into bed in bad shape. You know it bugs me....
~It bugs me that MOH was SUPPOSED to receive an infusion of medication that wil help the pagets disease in the bone in the L hip. The Drs office is being a pain about it...1st, they claimed the 'order didn't go trhough as we are waiting for the insurance pre-authorization'...so we call the insurance company..It doesn't NEED pre-auth as is generic!, but BTW, 2nd, the insurance mans tells the Drs office, here is authorization anyway..{we spent 1.5 hours on the phone on hold while the insurance man calls the DRs office and the hospital}, 3rd the insuarance man calls the hospital and they DID NOT RECIEVE THE ORDER, NEVER DID a month AFTER tehDr was to have issued it. 4th: the Drs offcie refuses to make an appt for MOH to GEt THE ORDER RE-ISSUED, adn REFUSES To LET US TALK TO THE DR. 5th, MOH has a follwoup visit with the Dr for aFTER THE INFUSION IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN DONE in Jan! It has NOT BEEN ISSUED according to the hospital!
Now I ask you [ not really, I'll tell you ] WHO has the power to issue/re-issue the order? THE DR! OR his OFFICE STAFF! MOH says "what will we do come January?" I said we GO AND while we SEE The DR express graphically but cordially, our Disdain for the handling of this matter by his office! Unfortuantely, he is the ONLY GAME In town!
~GRR now i am all upset over it again., but I cannot bear to see MOH in such pain! I have enough pain for both of us...MOH doesn't need it {pain}, especially when a treatment CAN HELP. IF only we can GET IT.
well, have a great nights rest, {I have NOT been sleeping well lately at all}..

Finally Got The New PK 2000 B & O GP 30 Running On The Test Track. Reason it would lock up was bad gears, 3 of the 4 where split and were binding. While it is a good running engine, at wide open it makes a racket. At lower speeds it sounds quite. Took me for ever to figuer / remember how to press the new Athearn gears on. My memory is not worth a cabosse any more, and I have done it some where around 8 times now. Next I need to find where my LED's and Restiors are, cannot remember where I but them.
