 For Only A 5 Hour Day This Day Lasted For Ever! Being Nancy Keeper is a full time job plus we where busy! We have no idea how many customers really came in, there was no time to keep track.

 Give you a idea how fun it is fixing Nancy Tickets, at one point she threw me a prices tag and said "They are buying one so write them up"! But the prices tag has Twin, Full, Queen and King's listed, plus prices with and with out box springs? Whole day was like that.

 But, it was a good day with $9,000 paid in full and another $1300.00 in layawy. I will give her this, she can sale! Just to bad she has no idea what she is selling and for what $ amout.

 Ulrich I was not up set at all about Nancy saying I don't look like I am lossing weight.While she is well meaning and very sweet (To Your Faces ) she is just to all there, but at 71 she has a right. Rest of us thought it was funnier than heck!

Evening all...

Another good weekend of railfanning. I think one of the things I enjoy most is that I'm always seeing something new, or learning something about railroads, and this weekend was no different. On Saturday we caught 10 trains. 4 crude oil, 2 intermodal, 1 mixed freight, 1 coke train, & 1 coal train which set out loaded coal hoppers at the transload facility behind us on the Ohio River. Usually they have to break the train down into 3 or 4 sections to get them on the sidings. It does tie up track 1 on the main line though. Then I saw something completely new to me. i saw very slow moving lights way up the track heading west bound towards us. Turns out it was a hi-railer pick-up truck escorting what I later found out was a ballast cleaner. All this made for interesting chatter on the scanner.

This morning we started out on CSX across the river & caught 5 trains, all auto racks. Then we headed back to NS & spotted 7 trains in about 90 minutes. 3 intermodal, 2 mixed freight, 1 slab train & 1 auto rack. One of the mixed freights had a bulk head loaded with logs. I've never seen this before. All the bulk heads I see with wood are those with wrapped, finished lumber. I suppose logs are a common sight somewhere, but not so much around here. 

Foreign power this weekend was comprised of Canadian National, Union Pacific & BNSF.

Looks like the cloths dryer may have to be replaced. I'll call the repairman again tomorrow. It's 18 years old, so I don't think I can complain about it too much. It has been repaired 2 or 3 times, but usually it was something minor. Not so sure it's minor this time. The repairman we have for our appliances is pretty good about recommending repairs or replacement.

Looking forward to heading to Timonium for the train show this coming weekend. I'm not anticipating buying anything, but hey, you just never know. I always enjoy the different layouts there too. We will also stop by outside of Harrisburg & visit with my niece & her family for a short visit. It's always great to see them.

I am zonked at the moments.  We had a light day out at the museum today which seemed to be OK with everyone on crew and working the museum itself!  Biggest excitemnet was that a relay that controls the Forward - Reverse level in the old 80 Tonner decided to stick or revrese itself on the first trip South from Midway Station to day.  Took about 30 minutes to get it back up and functioning correctly.  I spent that time "entertaining the handfull of passengers I had on the Erie Caboose.  One elderly lady there asked me what I had done for a living, so I told her i was a Music Teacher.  she wanted to know what Instrument and I said voice, and that I studied with Anna Kaskas and John Malloy at Eastman.  She lit up like a christmas tree.  Turns out her late husband worked for Kodak and they used to be invited to "Italien" dinner Parties at another Kpdak Employees home.  That person happened to have a son who graduated from Eastman...  That son was Chuck Mangione.  I told her I knew Chuck Mangione when I was a student and he was the Director of the Eastman Jazz ensemble....  I used to sit in the main hall every now and then next to Chuck and chat about most everything under the sun!  I'm sure he would have no idea who I am but I sure do remember him!!! Needless to say we had a great conversation that included some other musicians we both know.

We also had a family of Indians, as in from India out at the Museum today.  A couple of them spoke fluent English but most only knew a bit.  They rode down the line in my caboose, and when they were getting ready to board for the ride back to Midway they were going to get back on my caboose as well.  I looked 4 of them who who seemed to be more by themselves and asked them if they might like to get a ride in the cab of the locomotive.  At first they didn't quite get what I was talking about, but I pointed to the Loco and tried to get the point to them.  When it dawned on gthem what I was offering, the menn got wide eyed and excited.  The rest of the familyt got off the caboose and went to.....  There were really too many of them for the cab ride, but out emgioneer today managed to get them all (8 I think) cramed into the cab.  At the other end when they got off the Loco, the grin on all their faces told the story....  The women, I think were most impressed.  They all thanked me several times.  The engineer was grinning too!  I think they will have a great story to tell about America when they get home!

The event yesterday is getting rave reviews!  We sold 900 tickets at $20 to $25 each.  The gross for the day just from ticket sales is around $20,000!  After the cost of the crews, use of the locos and such on the LA&L it will be less, but still a great fund raiser for the Museum none the less!

 Tom, I don't know why the link came out like that, but I enjoyed watching the video three times.......

Tomorrow my 6 face cord of wood for the stove this winter will be delivered, and I have to clean house, and do some shopping....  Catch you all in the morning.

Had a good time at the train show with my Grandson and Wife. It wasn't too crowded as the football game was on.

There was a huge display of lego trains and automated equipment with them and our little man was just fasinated.  Half a dozen other very good exhibits and a few just so so.

Very few vendors but I managed to get some goodies a t a great price.

Here is the list.

All for $38.00,  So I feel I did well.

Got up most of the leaves yesterday but there are still some to come down.

Finished up the repairs to my fifth wheel and had a lady looking at it. Very interested, I think she might buy it.

so all in all it has been a good week-end.

Off to have a shower now,  and tomorrow the door people are coming to put in a new Garden Door onto our deck. The old one is 33 years old and has seen lots of wear and tear with the dogs going our there many times a day and when the boys were home, plus the new ones are built just that much more efficient.

I neglected to say a huge tank you to Galaxy for continuing to keep me on his candle list.  I did need it today as my throat was really bothering me.

Looking in to getting a Vita-Mix blender so that I can make my own food to go through the stomach tube and be less concerned about the ensure products that after all this time (almost nine months) seems to be kind of souring my stomach.

I had a great nights sleep last night. Right up to midnight when very disturbing imagry from my years as a First Responder made further sleep impossible. So I've been up roaming

the halls of the hospital and watching TV in dining\recreation room. It's been peaceful enough. Once in a one of of the nurses brings me my meds or needs to put on another iv of something or another. I have lab work.around 6am. I'm looking forward to that like root canal surgery. Until then I can't have anything to eat. I can however have all the water I want. After 'the lab work comes breakfast. I have no idea what.s on the list of road kill.

Good Morning!

A little bit of a dull day today. The sky is all clouds, no sun visible. I am done with my Monday morning chores, so there is plenty of time to w*rk on the plan. I am quite happy with the track plan, but the scenery needs a lot of thoughts and consideration. 2 ft. are not much depth to develop into some nice looking scenery, including a plausible town scene - even in N scale.

Jeff - been there, done that. During my recent hospital stays, I always woke up in the small hours of the day. I either watched the idiot box or went into the library to read. Quite often, the night nurse was happy to talk with someone ...

My longest stay in a hospital was 8 weeks. I got so much used to that dreadful hospital routine, that it took quite a few days to adjust back to my civilian life when I was discharged.

~Well, today is the wedding... I was supposed to wear my kilt...either one, but it might not be a day I want to wear it{COLD}. My new "fat leg" hose {long socks} is not here yet either.. "delivery takes 1-2 weeks"..how about 20 days and not here yet? Tomorrow will be three weeks! oh,.business days...well THAT is 12 business days already past, today being 13, so STILL no hose? Dunno, I was gonna order some more of stuff from that particular dealer, but dunno now. It too far from Xmas for that to be the holdup! I wil have to wear my regualr long diabetic socks instead. They exxpand for the thickness of my shins.

~well, have chores to get done efore the evening wedding. DOn't haveto worry about dinner tonight as MOH and I are invited to the small party's dinner after the ceremony

~I have all the paperwork in order for it now, too ready to go, except what they must provide for the license.

Just waiting for the guy to show up with the firewood this morning.  Then i have to get busy with cleaning up the house today.  Laundry is also on the main list for things needing to get done.

Sun is trying to shine every once in a while this morning...  Haven't been making diddly from the solar panels over the last week.  It is getting to the low output time of year.  Just hoping I will make as much in the next couple months as I did last year.  If so I will finish the year a few kWh ahead of last year.

Morning guys

Last day off before I go back to work. Its cool and cloudy here. I have a load of laundry going and I also have to go back to the cardiologist this afternoon for a different type of heart monitor I have to wear for a couple weeks. At least I can take this one off and on.

I managed to get a couple of sets of strat cards sepreated over the lastr couple days, I did want to get all four sets done but never got around to it. Maybe I can get some more done tonight sometime. Talk to you guys later on.

~ the wedding party was great and went smoothly for the parties involved! I actually went to school with one of them, who was a year behind me, but we all hung out at a spot just off school grounds for that nasty habit, smoking! It was allowed, as we were allowed off school grounds during lunch and break, and no smoking was allowed on school grounds...ah except for that nasty habit, those were the days!

~ we were invited out to dinner after, on the wedding party {small group of 8}, and were refused to be allowed to help with the bill or tip.5 of us ordered the 10oz rib, but what we got was....HALF A COW! I mean it was a SIDE of BEEF! FOr 10oz prime rib end cut {has more flavor to us as the seasonings are on it and comes out naturally med-well} it was-no kidding or joking- about 3.5 inches THICK and 9 inches long! The others were middles cuts, but still about 2 inches thick! If that was 10 ozs, well, I will take that in GOLD, thank you!

~ we told the wedding party to not be strangers!

~a good time was had by all!

~ I did not wear the kilt, was a bit to chilly for that....

~ came home and had to fight with the computer had to do a windows repair.... . SO IF I disappear,chances are we are computerless, and I should charge up and figure out the tablet...now to get online with it, without piggy-backing the neighbor's wifi, and compromising OUR accounts!

Well, thats about it for now...I see has ben thin on visitors today in here....wonder why?

 Today was pretty boring in all, so not a lot to talk about.

 Scale Says I Have Lost Another 2 Pounds! Well I do not total trust it. It is the type where you move the weight till the air bubble is level and it has to be moved to use it. My wife likes to hang stuff on it, and it moves the weight around. I think I am going to bring it into the garage where it will stay in the same places all the time and does not become a towel rack.

 Memory Up Grade My computer only has 128 Mgs of ram and sometimes it is very slow. Dave (Works at the St Charles store) has a small box of memory card that he has pulled from computers he has worked on. I have been told in he past that memory cards have to be matched sets. Dave say's they can be missed match as long as the Ram is the same. If one stick of memory is a little slower, both will work at the slower speed. But, a slower 256 Mgs will be faster than the fasties 128 Stick. I think I have 3 open slots on the mother board. Is there any risk?

I see the place has been empty for most of the day???  I guess everyone is giving up the hobby from what I see out in the main forum about prices and income and "the sky is falling" and such. 

I got the weeks grocery shopping done this afternoon and three loads of wash that has been waiting to get done tool.  Did some sorting, picking up, and putting away of several large piles of paperwork that has been sitting on a work table by the computer.  I have to set up my projector tomorrow for a clinician for the Fall meet next Saturday.  He is stopping by to make sure his laptop will work properly with my projector and such.  He will get a tour of the SLOW while he is here.

 Galaxy, ya dint goun wear thee Kilt, ya dint?  Well, I be!  What sert O Scotsmin be ye anyway?  A rrrrreal Scotsman wounna let a bit O cold stop a mun frrrrum dressin' in fine clothes now would E.....  That dinner could last for three or four days I think....  Sounds like you had a good day!

 Jeffrey must be up and chassing some nurses today!  More fun than hanging around with us old guys anyway!

Good Morning!

Another drab day - and to top it off, I have a dentist´s appointment at noon! Nothing special, just a regular check on my chinaware and a professional cleaning job. No lunch for me today

No progress with my layout plans. While I am quite happy with the rather simpletrack plan, I am having difficulties integrating a plausible town scene into it. As I seem to be stuck in a analysis-paralysis routine on this, I have postponed finalizing my plans and decided to start something, which will allow me to run a train. I still have that cut-up 2´ by 6´hollow core door up in my attic, which I will fasten to those heavy duty brackets I put up for my old layout. I will invest into a few lengths of straight track, maybe a turnout and a roll of double-sided foam tape and fasten the track I have to the door. Christmas come and a few buildings will be added. From a model railroader´s point of view, this will be a rather awkward set-up, but I can play with "my trains" and , who knows, the whole thing may even evolve into something more satisfying. Kind of reminds me of what I did as a ten year old ...

There are many kinds of memory out there, and they are physically keyed so that incorrect memory cannot be installed. If it can be installed, you are good to go. LION does not bother with old memory. New memory is not at all expensive, and stuff under 1 GB is of no interest to a LION.

Find the number of your motherboard, it is printed on the board, but it probably comes up when you first boot your computer. Google that number, find the manual for that board, and it will tell you the maximum memory that the board will accept. You cannot put more memory in the computer than it is able to address. There are some types of memory that are a full fledged pain in the chip, and you are better off throwing the computer out than to fuss with that crap. You will recognize that memory when you see the prive of the old bosolete chips!

Hi Guys,

Back to work today. I was able to enjoy my time off and got some stuff done so that is good. The new F1 game on the ps3 comes out today so might pop in to the store before work to see if they have it. If they do I might play for a couple hours tonight when I get home. I work at 9am tomorrow so cant be up too late playing,lol. My next off day now is Sunday but have to cut grass and rake leaves for some people so I dont know how much free time I would have that day.

~well I was out VERY early for bloodwork...so I didn't have time to start the day here...Funny that Elvis Duran in the morning show{who is not affraid to say anything on the air} on the radio on my way there had a "phone tap" {gag on someone via phone call} Had  a guy who was *absolutely paranoid of Needles* and bloodwork! They joked on him that the bloodwork he just had done was "lost' so he needed to come in and have it re-done! He pained himself to say to his GF {in on it} that it was  a "Medical proceedure that causes intense pain" and wanted her "to come be there to *support* me" in his hour of need, as that is "what relationships are for is to provide support to each other" he said in a panicked squeaky voice! It was hilarious..you perhaps had to hear it to believe it...

~I paid the last bill for the month by phone already...leaves exactly $2.67 in the checking account. Cut it close. All bills are done until next month...{ G breathes a sigh of relief}. The local food bank wants TG donations..I may send them the $2.67. Not really, have to leave a few pennies in there.We MAY actaully qualify for a TG dinner from them! Do have banking to do tomorrow...though.

~the electric/gas company: I called them to increase the budget as we are behind the 8ball since they chopped it too much after 2 years of owing us nearly 6 months "free"{prepaid by us}, they chopped it to low. I increased it once, but they said the computer increased it for next month BACK to what it was before! We won't get as much in HEAP, if we qualify at all....so we shall see how much they owe us now..probably 3-4 months instead...they still set it too high as we use less than they budget for.

~speaking of which the furnace just kicked on..need to turn it back down for the day. Supposed to be about 55F, and that will mean the trailer will pretty much maintain its internal temp at 68-70/71 degrees, without help from the furnace.Its 50 on the porch now, so it will be that and higher soon enough out there...I'll take it. 60s are returning the end of the week/weekend.

Doing some last minute house cleaning this morning.  A Division member who is presenting his first ever clinic is stopping by the house this afternoon to test out all the equipment for his presentation.  Should not be any problem but if it doesn't work, at least it gives us time to go to plan B...

Currently 49°F outside under dark, gloomy, cold, and damp....  Oh!  Sorry....  The high today will get all the way up ton 54°F and the skies will remain cloudy all day....   Home, home on the range..."  Sorry...  No antelope in this part of the country either.

This poem touched me deeply. Not only has my family lost members to war (WW2 & Vietnam ) but even more so the loss of my wife. My daughters would have terrible days when they would go to school and there would be an event where other mothers would participate and they would have no one becuse their mother is in Heaven. They would come home and just lay their head on my shoulder and shed tears like a river. Breaks one heart.

 Will Upset Right Now. Just got my blood test report back and not the numbers I was hoping for. A1C went dow just a tad, from 7.1 to 7.0. That is a dissapoinment with working out. But what I am most up set about is my Choesterol numbers. While the over all numbers are good at 131, my HDL is low, it is only 33. I finaly googled HDL and found anything lower than 40 is increasing the risk of a heart attack. My bad LDL Choesterol is 77.6. I have all so read that ratio of Bad vs Good should be around around 4 to 1. If that is the case, I am at 3.969 bad to good which should be OK? 

 Seems one of the foods I can eat that will raise my HDL is Tuna. Just so happens I bought 10 cans of tuna Sam's and I do like it, so that part is easy. But my Wife has all ready started in on me. She said "You cannot eat Tuna everyday, you will get sick from the Mercury!" Dammed if I do and Dammed if I don't?

 Ken, STOP WORRYING!!!  Your blood work is GREAT!  I have my last blood work report in hand right now.  Normal range for total cholestrol is 107 - 200.  You are on the low end of that - with the total being so low, you can relax on the ratio thingy according to my doctor at least.  HDL normal range is 29 - 67.  It is within normal range and since your total cholestrol is so low the HDL should be on the low side.  There is a box on mine that is an interpretation of those numbers.  Chol/HDL ratio: 3.43 = 1/2 average risk     4.97 = average risk     9.5 = 2x average risk   and 23.99 = 3x average risk.  Yours would be 3.9696 = less than the average risk!!!  Your A1C is OK.  They like it less than 7, over 7 is not good!  Keep up the good work, and stop worrying.  Worrying will only raise your A1C and your cholestrol....  Looks like you are doing fine.  (My numbers last spring were: Total Cholestrol 126, HDL 36, LDL 61, Triglycerides 147, and A1C 5.8... Doc told me I have the best blood work he has ever seen in a man my age....  A few years ago it wasn't very good at all.)

I got my F1 game and played it for around a hour or so when I got home. I am now watching the ball game. I will have plenty of time to play the f1 game. Its my favorite game on the ps3 and can only imagine how many hours I will play it over the course of the year,lol

But for now I will watch the ball game while sepreating more strat card sets before bed.

Well....  Today was indeed dark, gloomy, cold, and damp....  The solar panels on the roof did in fact turn on.... somewhat.  They made me 3.5 kWh today.... Whoopie!  Well, That is more than enough to charge the car I guess.  Better than a kick in the teeth.

So...  Wonder what happened to Jeffrey today.  Hope he is missing just due to bad Wifi connection and not that something went wrong! 

About time to call it a night I think.

Howdy ... 

We just returned from our trip to be wth family in MI and OH. .Nice! ... Driving was mostly good except for construction delays especially on I-75 between Lima, OH and Toledo, OH. ... Grabdkids had fun. Grandson in MI had his 5th birthday. ... On the way back last night, we stayed in Louisville. This morning Shelley shopped before we got on the highway. Women certainly can shop. 

We had some very good apple cider with doughnuts at a cider mill in Michigan. 

I saw a few trains on the trip. CSX, NS, and CN. The CN was in MI where the CN no longer treats its Grand Trunk Western as a separate company. 

I'll catch up on your posts when I get a chance.

Good morning to all.  I hate Wednesday mornings most of all.  Tuesday nights, I've been playing hockey since the Bobby Orr era.  A few years back we got pushed back to a later time because the girls' programs have become so popular, so now it's a late night followed by an early morning.  But, I just checked the calendar and I've only got 6 more Wednesdays to work before I retire.

We had a guy show up at hockey who we haven't seen for a while.  Last spring, he lost a son to a drug deal gone bad, and it's been hard on him and his family.  We're hoping our hockey time will let him leave it all outside the rink for a few hours.  I anonymously paid for his ice time for 5 weeks.  The "bribe" seems to have worked.

I picked up a Roku box for our TV.  This lets you watch internet programs or stream movies and such on the big TV.  It's an older model I got used (third hand, actually) for $20.  Lately, we've become increasingly annoyed with Comcast for providing a thousand channels of nothing, plus all the zombie movies we don't want to see and few that we do.  We'll see what happens.

Our daughter Annie will be home for a visit tonight.  She's asked for the baked stuffed flounder dish I made up, which has become a family favorite.  I use their pre-made seafood stuffing mix, and add a lot of mushrooms, some spices, scallions and sherry.
