Stewart is gone

There is a Stewart Industries that is unconnected to the Stewart that made engines and freight cars. Stewart Industries makes an interesting and extensive line of cast metal detail parts, such as coiled steel rolls and sanding and fueling facilities. They also make replacement traction tires for old AHM engines
Well worth checking out if you are unfamiliar with it.

Its nice to see that a great company (Bowser)has bought Stewart. I have a few freight cars made by Bowser and I like them alot[:D] At least they make kits,instead of this[censored] RTR stuff.

I know Steve Stewart by proxy and he had or has a son with serious heart problems. He has also built a company that should have an excellent market price at this point. I can't imagine anyone building that equity and just baling out. No doubt if he is not involved he is selling the business to someone in my estimation and perhaps plans more time wit his family. He retired as a teacher a few years ago. Maybe this goes hand in hand with that decision.

I sure hope they haven't closed. My Stewart F units are superb. They make excellent, fairly priced products and they're good people to deal with.

There is nothing on their page about closing. It is business as usual.

I just checked (morning of Oct 19th) and the site is silent about closing. It says it was last updated Oct 15. Could this be some sort of hacker at work? If so it is not funny.
I agree this calls for MR or the NMRA or MRIA to say something public about what has happened.

Hey, I just checked the site and there is no mention of closing. They have a message posted for the open house on Nov. 7th.

What's troubling is the names listed on the Stewart "closed" message do not include Steve. I just saw him not too long ago. I hope he's OK.

How do you know for sure what your saying is the truth?

Hopefully someone is taking over their line. Would make sense as it's doubtful they would let those expensive dies and molds sit and collect dust.

My Stewart F7 in the NYC is still my best performing unit.

I had to check just to be sure. I can't believe it. They made high quality products at reasonable prices. I wonder what happened? Will someone buy them out? I sure hope so!
