Sounds NICE Jeffrey! Alittle windy perhaps,as has been here lately making it feel chilly at only 50 degrees.

58F at the airport u on the man-made garbage hill, so it should be warmer down here in the valley...it is supposedly 70 on the porch which now has large gaping holes in the corrugated see-through plastic that "encloses it" as the tops and bottoms and the angled eaves are not enclosed.  A guy last year gave us an estimate of $700 to fix it, but didn't know off-hand what the price of the corrugated plastic now is. It got shredded and made into swiss cheese during a major storm  the year before last year. thank goodness the trailer windows held, especially the front big bay window that was taking the brunt of  the large golfball sized hail! We also sustained a roof leak at the furnace and discovered the furnace install-comapny had used the WRONG sealant on it. He basically used clear silicone caulk! The trailer repair roof guy patched it with tar-type roof sealer. He is hte one who offered about $700 to fis the proch. I told MOh to leave the heavy mil plastic UP  covering the holes, but MOH wanted "air circulation"..so the wasps don't take up reisidency. I guess that makes sense. Last year when the park manager came around looking for "violations" or "cleanup" charges, I had hoped they would pass us by and they did. Apparently the swiss cheese didn't look to bad, but now the extra large gaping holes in the front section will give away the dilapidation. We just don't have the money now.

It got to 72 in here, so i turned on the Ac for awhile, then will turn it off for a while. I usually wait to 75 in here, but lately 72 seems to be "to warm" for me. DOesn't take long to cool down, though.

Supposed to be in the 70s coming few days, at least it will finally feel warm! More rain coming the next 5 days..its supposed to be "April showers bring May flowers"..not "rain all May"...we had enough rain in April for 7 days in a row once toward the end. I can't complain though, we haven't yet flooded this year, and the rain has been "civil" not like the storms out mid west plains and in the south. We are supposedly supposed to be wetter than usual here this year.

WEll, I finished off the dishes...all 4 pieces and the few silverware to go with it. I've got the towels all in the dryer,a dn need to take a break..m back is strting to complain again.

Don't know if I will see MOH betweeen clients or not..should have been home by now for a few hours, but Not home yet.

RAY; those pics look fine. I guess I am not so picky about high-res pics, because people on here complain about "poor quality' or it being a "lowly cell phone photo"..personally I see no big difference...wouldn't know the difference if they hadn't said anything! I mean its only going to be so close-up to me here on the computer! Its not like its a giant 20x30" pic!

well, time to veg in front of the idiot box and cool down some.

My eye is feeling much better after only 3 administrations of the med...no wait, 4 administrations...about time for another one actually...

later

My order came in today, and part of it was decal paper.  Micro mark's decal paper works great, but now I need to darker the color I was using (sunshine yellow instead of the Pullman yellow).

Well, whatever I had 2 weeks ago that made me so sick, i may just have been re-exposed to.

A few days ago I went out at the wrong time to do errands, and my next door neighbor was waiting for her kid to get off the bus, i had to wait for the bus at the corner. SHe asked why the ambulance? so i told her how sick I was.

Well, fast forward to today, i go to get the mail, and she is out walking the dog. SHe said whatever 'ickyness" i had I gave to her, as the last 3 days she has been violently sick the way I was, in fact her husband stayed home from work yesterday in case she had to go to the hospital, and to take care of the kids.

SO now I have re-exposed to what she had, whether the same as me, or anther bad thing.

My system has really NOT recovered completely and the last 2 days have been really bad, but not as bad as when I was sick, just severe "internal distress".

Then, When I came in from the mail, MOH tells me the grocery store pharmacy called, I have 2 scripts waiting and they can't hold them any longer. I said "you mean CVS called" {I just called in for 2 refills needing a DR call}. MOH said "no, the grocery pharmacy"...so I looked at caller ID, sure enough it WAS the grocery pharmacy. SO I called them and asked what scripts they had? When She told me, I knew then, well, the ones that disappeared into the "ether" that my Dr had electronically sent when I saw him last week, that the Dr.s office says was sent, and CVS says they never got. I had a fight going between the two. I NEVER thought to ask the Drs office WHERE he sent them. WEll, Mystery solved, he sent it to the grocery pharmacy instead! I HATe the electonic sending of scripts for exactly this reason, or if the pharmacy is out of something, you can take you written script to some other pharmacy if need be.

I only have one "3 months supply for $9.99" script that my insurance won't cover anymore at the grocery store. Last time it got filled, the pharmacist called and said it was no longer on that plan, and that it is an expensive script. It is one that keeps my Irritable bowel under control when my system is "normal" so it doesn't act like it is now. He ran it through the system and said it still rang up at $9.99 even though that is way below their cost so he could give me that refill for the $9.99..had too, but next one would be the full price. I will have to ask tomorrow for a new list as they have the big sign still up for "300 scripts, 3 month supply for $9.99" out in the lobby. It was down for awhile, but a new one saying the same thing is up now. If it is still on there, the next refill will HAVE to be for $9.99!

well, dinner will be beef soaked in herbs/spices over noodles. with califlower for MOH and brocolli for me. I probably should n't even have the broccoli, but I defintely cannnot tolerate the califlower, it definitely wreaks havok on my system on a good day. But MOH complained the other day that "we haven't had califlower in a long time" so I bought some. One serving and I was reminded WHY I don't buy it! Sick or not, broccoli can be bad enough, but tolerable, califlower, NO WAY.

I am EXTREMELY ticked.  I just wasted 6 bucks on decal paper when it will not even print out yellow letters....UGH!!! I guess my shortline will never be done!

Let me guess. You got clear decal paper? For jobs like that it's best to use the decal paper with a white background.

Yes I did try clear paper this time, but I tried white before and had the same translucent result.

You can try what I've done on occasion. That's to paint the color(s) in question onto the model(s) and have the rest of the colors on the decal. Apply the clear film decal over the painted color.

Nothing much went on with the rest of my day. Watched some TV, played a couple games of Starfleet1. That's about it.

I'm tired so it's time to call it a night. Ecce vos omnes die crastino separatim.

Evenin'folks!

Janie just a cup of decaf please...

Lets see....  I finished mowing the lawn for the first time this year.  Only houses that haven't yet mowed their lawn are the two houses across the street from me.  The one directly across is for sale and the owner has moved out and is living with his girlfriend at the moment I think.  That is the guy who used to mow his lawn every other day and did it twice to get an professional criss cross effect....  The other house is the one where there is a sale pending to a gentleman who is interested in trains (member out at the Museum).  I also started weeding the small garden where my asperagus grows and some herbs.  Used the string trimmer around the property as well.  Tonight I had a Scout Roundtable and Commissioner's Meeting to attend.  I finally processed the rest of the photos I took last weekend at the NFR Convention in Canada.

Here is a few more from the fantastic layouts on display Sunday afternoon.  lots of rocks being modeled so I will show some of those shots.  The first is from an HO Layout that has hand laid code 70 track and some Fast Tracks Turnouts.  He has done a great job of modeling the stone of the Niagara Escarpment around this part of the country:

Some of the rock work looked like the formations down in Watkins Glen on Seneca Lake.  The last layout we saw was definitely a "Must See" layout.  Hand lid code 83 track on a layout measuring 17' X 40'.  Incredably done!!!  Just incredable!  My photos don't do it justice... He is modeling the town and area around Chama, NM in On3.  So it it real or Memorex???

I kinda like this shot:

Time for me to clean out the cat's litter box...  I can tell, Blackie just used it... (sniff, sniff)  Then I need to take my evening meds and hit the sack...  Prayers for all in need!

Well I got a surprise! Just out of curiosity I hooked the ImageWriter II printer up to my //e. I turned on the computer then the printer then enter PR#1 to route the video output to the printer then did a catalog of the boot drive. To my surprise the printer reacted! I couldn't see anything on the paper but then the ribbon was dry. I opened the ribbon cartridge and sprayed some CRC 2-26 inside then closed it up and put it back in the printer then tried again. This time I got a lightly legible list of the files on the boot disk.

What are the chances that my //e just happened to have in it a serial printer controller that was already set for an ImageWriter? I've never had an ImageWriter before so how's the controller (which I've owned since new) set for it? Surprise, surprise. Just nipped over to Ebay and picked up a new ribbon for under $10. It should be here no later than the 12th.

Lunchtime!

Janie, make that a big burger, fries and an RBF, please!

Just finished staining the second part of the dock. It went the same way as the firts part did. I now found ount why - that blooming ink did not dissolve completely! Some of those blobs of black ink found their way into the brush, while I was brushing that stuff on. Well, it´s OK, I am not unhappy with it (but not really happy, also). NTB - Next time better!

Need to get a can of high-gloss, clear acrylic paint to put the "water" into the scene befor I glue the second part onto it. I don´t feel like leaving the house today - I am having heart issues again, and my stomach´s got a queasy feeling to it.

Blessings to all!

Hello again!

This place looks deserted - 3 hours of twiddling thumbs for the staff!

I took a nap, as I seem to tire pretty quick these days. Can´t say that I feel refreshed, though.

A quick snapshot of today´s work on the layout:

1. This morning

2. Temporarily put in place

Looking good Ulrich.

*

Good morning. It's 73° with 90% humidity. The high will be 85° with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Not feeling good today. Gall bladder was acting up last night. Nothing planned for today. No projects, no ideas. I'll just sit back and take whatever comes along as best I can.

Bonum habere diem

My locomotive shed is starting to take shape.   I am unsure where else to put braces on the wood though.  I am planning to see if my club has any scale lumber that was donated with the other stuff, and would buy some of that.

well,

I started to to go to the grocery pharmacy, take back bottles, go to the post office, go to Bed Bath and Beyond, go to Best Buy.

i did all but the last one. They weren't open yet, not until 10 am. I was home, unloaded, put away and ate before 10!

I was early for the grocery pharmacy, I went early to have time to feed the bottles into the hungry machine. But I was still early, so I wandered around the store. Found some marked down beef {there wasn't any yesterday} that expires 2 days from now. It will be eaten or feozen or pre-cooked later. MOH loves beef, and the only way we can afford it these days is to buy the marked-down stuff. MOH would eat "beef and noodles every night". So I did an experiment about a year ago. I served beed and noodles EVERY NIGHT for 3 weeks straight! MOH NEVER complained. I figured sooner or later MOH would say"lets have something else"...but NO. I was the one who broke! I switched and told MOH I wanted no complaints about the chicken I served  {my favorite, MOH's least favorite, next to fish} as I was tired of 3 weeks of beef!

Naturally with the bottle coupons in my shirt pocket, I forgot to give them ot the cashier to take off my bill! SO I went back and picked up some premade teas that were on sale for 5/$5. Guess how much I had in returnable bottles? Yep, $5 even.

Got my script, and also bought 3 large bags of red mulch on sale for the front planter. I can't lift such things any more and my back was screaming already without the heavy duty pain med and I hadn't ben standing in the store that long! The one who did the carry out and loaded the bags of mulch was a young girl! the male cashier asked if she wanted him to do it or not, and she said no, she would do it, I reminded her i had the bags of mulch, too. SHe said No problem. I feel bad when something like that happens! It took me forever to ask for the first time for a carry-out as it just goes against my "manliness" I guess. I used to work retail and I was the one doing the carry-outs!

MOH will have to unload the bags, or I get the hand truck and roll them out onto it to move. One of tehse days I will go to the Restaurant supply shop nad get one of those giant Ice scoops restaurants use. It will come in handy for such situtations where I can take out a giant scoop at a time of something like the mulch.

The red mulch will be the only thing in the planter this year. A couple years ago MOH had the brilliant Idea to spray RoundUp brand weed killer in the planter as that year I just could not manage planting it, and it was full of weeds. well, guess what? it has "spoiled " the dirt for anything else to grow EXCEPT the crabgrass and other weeds now! I thought last year maybe the RoundUp had leached out  the bottom of the planter or had lost its potency as MOH sprays it every year around the trim areas of grass to avoid using the weedeater and to stop the weeds growing in the stones in the driveway. The plants I planted last year died quickly due to the Round Up.Then the rabbits ate off the foliage anyway. WOnder if they got tummy aches? I wonder if we dug some dirt down a ways, put in heavy mil plastic and re-topped it with new dirt if I could plant anew this year? I want somehting like the gray "poofs" mounds  of Silver-something-whatever-it-is-called. They are suposed to stay all year. I could leave  few holes into which to plant some annuals if I wanted. The planter is a far cry from the home of teh "Franken-mato" tomato plant a few years aog that TOOK over the whole front ot the trailer! SOme of you may remember that .

I went to B,B&B to get a new shampoo/soap rack for the back corner of the tub/shower. Got a new stainless steel one i hope fits. there is a ledge around the tub to sit it on and it expands to reach the ceiling. If it DOESN't fit on the ledge, ther is no orom for it because the back of the tub curves quite a bit. the rack would be in the center of the tub. The old was was stainles steel and wasn't supposed to rust, and of course it did. the old claimed the same as the new one: "won't rust and will last forever". HA! I also found a Panama Jack "air conditioned hat". I t has holes in the top uprights for airflow, but has the very top full covered and a big wide brim on it to keep sun off. Having big huge scars on my forehead from having skin cancer remoced, I cover up in the sun and don't care if I look "pasty white" or not. But I sweat profusely if my head has no heat release, so the hat will work fine. I have a couple nice straw woven ones, but, also, the sweat bands have outlived their usefullness, are stained nad a bit mishaped, and I can't throw them in the washer like i can the baseball caps i usually wear. so a new hat was in order. Scrubbing wiht a brush proved futile.

Never got to Best Buy to get new printer ink, They don't open to 10. BB&B used to nto open til ten, but that was only for the winter months. I thought may Best Buy would have changed hteir hours too, but NO.

So that is my exciting morning.

Now I will see if I get into other trouble, or go out later to Best Buy for the ink. I can change oput the shower caddy adn do a load of laundry adn finish of fthe dishes. That is a start!

have a great day!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a bowl of Organic Maple Pecan Crunch cereal and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend dark roast coffee.  Keep my R&GV RR mug full if you would!  Thank you Ma'am.

Jeffrey, same to you my friend and remember, "Illegitimi Non Carborundum"!

I got a call from my son this morning telling me he started mowing his lawn today...  He is mowing and rolling it at the same time.  He had to stop as the lower part is still too wet at the moment.  He is also getting ready to till up a garden spot so I need to use my Rototiller and then give it to him.  Since my garden is raised beds I will use my little battery electric tiller as the old gas one cant' do much in there.  Figure he can use it more than I and will know where it is if I need it.  That will take care if the last gas operated piece of equipment here at my house.  From now on everything will get power from the roof of my house...

Have to go over to the Drug Store at the Medical Arts Building here in town and drop off a prescription and ask then if they will take care of renewing my Diabetic test strips for me.  I have my 6 month check up with my doctor in not quite 2 weeks but will run out by early next week....

Couple more shots from the convention:

well, I installed the new shower rack. It comes with set screws for each shelf. I scrubbed the plastic tub where the old one was {which wasn't supposed to rust either} wiht Kaboom and Lime away and a scrub brush. got all but a reminder stain of rust off the ledge. I gave up trying and scrubbing.

Naturally the Allen wrench they say is INCLUDED ISN'T in the package!

I only have 3 or 4 sets of Allen wrenches, think I could find just one set? The borrowers must have them all. I got resourcefull and found the middle screwdriver of my mini screwdrive set worked! I am not sure they are tight enough, but when I got to Best Buy, I will go to Harbor Freight and get yet another set of allen wrenches. They may even have a coupon in this months flyer. I only get two different flyers.

I am not sure this rack is as sturdy as the other one adn it sure is BIGGER. It takes up more space in the 2' x4' shower than the old one did. The old one also attached by a spring loaded tube to the ceiling, and held firm. This new one is a twist-n-lock affair that may need ocassional adjustments. I don't know. Might be to easy to pull over! MAybe we should get a piece of thick foam rubber and wedge it between the ceiling and the end cap to help squeeze it in tighter.

That and a load of laundry and a hamburger for lunch is my accomplishment for now. The hamburgers are grocery store premixed/made things at 1/4lb which when marked down come out to be about $0.60 a burger, Not a bad price for a quarter pounder...

I am exhausted and BOTH hips have been giving me grief all day. Must be the rainy weather we experienced last night or the showers we expect today. My back was acting up at the store nad I carry emergency meds with me, so I took both a pain and muscle relaxer then. Buit I had NO joint stress relief {or what ever medical term it is} with me, so I had to wiat til I got home. It does wonders! Gotta refil my emergency stash WITH some of those.

I think except a few household chores I am done for the day. I am not going out to BEst BUy or Harbor Freight.

My hips aren't up to it. Unusual for them both to be bothering me.

Ulrich: looking good! Now a few well placed Sea Gulls flying/sitting around and you will be more realistic! Got any boats yet to put in the "water"?

Satis magnum diem!

Gee, Nobody in in 3 hours? I must smell. I took a shower...honest!

When I went to get the mail it was a beauteous day out there. 72 warm and sunny, i went in shorts. FIrst time this year...

When I came back I threw the mail on the porch with the keys and set about doing something with the front planter. I pulled the cascading crabgrass {franken-grass by the size of it} from off the "bricks" {the gray stackable kinds for just such purposes}. The planter is in sad shape. The rear wall is the thin cinder blocks stacked over pounded-in steel rebars. It all is removable and NOT cemented together so the park can't really say anything-it is Always "removable". I gave up trying to pull more of the crabgrass core out and just piled the dead stuff in the planter for now. should go out and bag it up to take into the wooded area behind us, but it got too hot out there. The front of the trailer faces W so the hot late afternoon sun baring down can be uncomfortable. Especially for us pale northern folks who haven't seen the sun for 8 months now!

I hunted down some of the cheaper algae killer. I wasn't sure we had any left, but found half a blottle it isn't  the heavy duty stuff, though, this is meant really only to keep small aquariums clear of algae if you have no algae eater bottom feeders in your tank. I don't know if it will do anything for the 65 gallon pond.

The pond is rather gross looking now, It USED to be a  farily healthy pond with frogs and other critters making homes in it when left to its own devices. But now there is strange stuff growing or dying in it, including some strange white stuff. Looks like white fluff. The kinf you ues to make puff ball trees. I am not sure what it is. I will have to get an extra cheap large strainer to scoop out the bad stuff. Or get a small pool skimmer i guess.

I have no idea what happened to the siphon hose, I would have started it siphoning off the water, as ultimately the pond must be removed then scrubbed clean and start all over again.

I haven't put up the waterfall part as the pumps, even with filters and filter bags kept giving out every year. they'd last a season, then well drained dried and stored for the winter it wouldn't work too long the next season, so I gave up. The waterfall is a plastic pre-cast affair sculpted to look like a natural stacked or eroded stone waterfall, much like we may make on a layout.

I left the solar lights out in the planter all winter as when I went to remove them last year, the ground was frozen. Amazingly enough, they still work well!

well, that all got to hot for me to do. MAybe in the early morning when it is cooler and shaded out there I will work on it some more....

dinner will be all heat-n-eat leftovers. I cleaned out  fridge and we have beef ribs, mashed taters, stuffing, flavored noodles to have. So I don't really have to cook tonight, but now I made myself quite a few dirty dishes to do before dinner.

have a great night.

Just haven't felt like getting on. Still not feeling all that great. I've gotten absolutely nothing done today. I don't even feel like working on a circuit card.

Evening guys

I got a job offer from the comissary. 40 hours a week and I make 1.5x more an hour than I do now. I do wonder if it is tax-free being a government job.

Have been too busy to do a whole lot lately. I'll be able to do more later...

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I'd say not. None of mine ever were.

Good evening. Well maybe it is for you. I've felt rather 'off' all day. I did at least get a parts drawer set up to store the computer cards I use most and have the most of. It's set up to hold four types. #1 is 80 column RAM expansion cards, #2 is standard 80 column cards, #3 is CP/m cards and #4 is X104 drive controller cards. Though I don't have many of any of these this gives me a place to store them other than having them in a pile in a box with a bunch of junk cards. It t6ook about an hour to get everything sorted. I also cleaned up the ImageWriter II printer as I now know it works.

That's about all I had the energy for today as I was standing almost the whole time.

Showers and thunderstorms tonight with a 60% chance of thunderstorms.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning Gang!

Not a good night! I woke up at 2am and could not find any sleep thereafter. I finally crawled onto my sofa at 5.30am, but only for a snooze. I am too tired too sleep. It´s a rainy day here and I´ll better stay put and don´t go out. I should get some paint, but I don´t feel like doing so.

I always thought this to be a model railroading forum, but when I read the title of a thread "Looking for a Good Looking Caboose", I started to have my doubts. Could this be a dating platform in disguise? What will be coming next? "Looking for a compatible B-unit to form a consist"? Whistling

Flo, I´ll need some eye opening, dark roasted, strong coffee, please!

Make it a great day!
