10 years ago I dabbled in modeling CSX, because I loved the gray/blue/yellow "YN2" paint scheme and could see these locos running on the [former] B&O Old Main Line within a mile of my house. I also thought road slugs were pretty cool because they gave a 'second life' to some of my favorite older EMD locos that would have otherwise been scrapped.
My interest in CSX began to fade when they replaced their YN2 scheme with the so-called "dark future" livery . Then I saw what a PITA it can be to wire-in ditch lights. And I missed having cabeese on the ends of my trains.
So in 2009 I made the decision to return to my B&O modeling roots. But I still use my original screen name since that is how everbody knows me around here.

Mine is as follows: The 1st part is what I use for the reporting marks for my freelanced road as you can tell by my avatar (FRRY) [In theory, it should be FRY, but I didn't like the idea of any fast food references.] The 2nd part is the Kid. (While I am no kid anymore, I starting using that as my email address in college and it just stuck.)
Somebody already had rebel. As for the meaning, I have never done things the way suggested unless they could prove it was the right way. In investments I always put everything into one basket, something evey investment planner says not to do. I retired the first time at 29 and the second at 53 making 25 to 35% a year doing what everyone says is the wrong thing to do. In school I was the same way and got picked on alot for it, guess I have always followed a different drummer. I continue the tradition in model railroading with things like beaded foam for the main base (it is more stable than the pink stuff but has its drawbacts too like not as dent proof but it can sometimes be had for free).
My handle is the name of my (freelanced) private railway, with the name of the interchange in full:
Tomikawa Tani Tetsudo = Rich Stream Valley Iron Road, with each of the five kanji characters translated separately.
Anyone looking for Tomikawa on a map of Japan is doomed to disappointment. OTOH, finding the Kiso river and the towns of Agematsu and Kiso-Fukushima wouldn't be particularly difficult. I changed the names to protect the guilty when I moved a coal mining branch (the TTT) into an area that never produced a single lump.

It's simply the initials of my hometown railroad. While I like many of the other railroads in the home area --- B&O, PRR, NYC, NKP, etc. --- most of my historical railroad research and modeling focuses on the AC&Y RR. I'm not so sure it was a good idea to choose that name because it could be argued that there are others who have a stronger claim to it than I do; but I guess I'll stick with it because that's the name I'm associated with now.

I started a fleet of 1/25tow trucks in the '90s. Southgate sounded like a good name for such a company if located on the south end of a town (where I do in fact live). Now it's the name of my freelanced industrial park, served by SP. I use it on other forums too. Dan
When I was a Boy Scout, those of us who were Junior Assistant Scoutmasters got name tags. My friend that I also did trains with switched a few letters around on mine and came up with "Beasley," which I've been called by my friends ever since.
I'm the lucky one. He ended up with the nickname "Fungus."
On the Flight Simulator forums, by the way, I'm "Captain Barfbag."
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
This topic USED to come up frequently, but has died out and has not in awhile. people here used to go "oh, no, not again!"
galaxy is short for galaxytimekeeper, my full screen name.
There is a whole long story behind how I got that one. I don't have the time now for that.....maybe later.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
During the two separate winters I spent at the Great Lakes Navy base, I rode the Erie Lackawanna Phoebe Snow between Chicago and my home town. My wife's (of 46 years) paternal grandfather retired from the Lackawanna RR.
My hometown was served by the Erie, the Lackawanna (DL&W), and the Delaware and Hudson. I watched lots of trains in my youth. I could see the Erie and the D&H from my front porch, though they were so far away the noise was almost imperceptible. I used to ride my bicycle to Bevier St to watch the D&H hump cars.

Back in the day of CB radios. I was raising a family and love to fly but after getting all of my pilot ratings and realizing that I couldn't support the family on the pay of a new commercial pilot I bought a fun little airplane called a Yankee (loved that little bird ) and so my CB handle was Yankee Flyer. Many years later when joining the forum and ask for a screen name that was the first thing that came to mind.
Enjoy the day.
Lee
I do belive I will NOT be flying with Mr. B anytime soon.
Me, totally none-creative for this one, first initial, last name. Guess I felt like being a little more professional here compared to most forums and games where I am Megaslug. That one goes back to college and also the movie "A Christmas Story". Friends would come get me for an early class and I'd still be asleep. So when the movie came out, when the little brother can;t move in his snowsuit and falls down and the narrator says "Randy lay there like a slug" a new nickname was born. More than just an ordinary slug, it's Megaslug! Do so wish I still had the awesomely well done illustration my friend did that I had hanging on my dorm wall.

Well Travon is my first grandson name that I used for this fourm, I have now a total of seven grandkids with six grandson and a granddaughter who love trains as much as the boys do.

I went to Penn State and wasn't in a very creative mood the day I registered.
I was right in the middle of building my current layout and was still laying the track. I only meant for it to be temporary until I thought of a better one but then I decided that since everyone here on the forum knew me by that handle and because it was kind of unique that I'd better keep it...

There is a reason I don't post many pictures. (The name was picked more for use on the sister "Trains" site)
Mike Middle Man .... You grew up in a full house.
My screen name is the same as my model railroad name. "Heartland Division" is a fictional name for a division of the old CB&Q RR before it was merged into Burlington Northern. I wanted to build a layout where I could simulate operations of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy. The prototype railroad served America's Heartland, and I chose that name.
