Jimmy: I get such moles from time to time and in every instance they were only fatty tissue that was pushed out of the skin. Hopint that's all yours is.

*

Good morning. It's 44° with 78% humidity and a small chance of rain. The high will be 62°.
 with

My toe is looking better this morning. I still found some suspicious looking flesh in it and removed it while keeping the area washed with alcohol. With the sick looking stuff removed I wrapped it up and moved on with my day. No fever this morning. Temp is 98.4.

No plans for today.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a cup of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee and a couple of those sour cream glazed donuts over there.

Jimmy, you are and will be in my thoughts and I send my best wishes to you that the mole will not be anything bad!  Hope your appointment is soon.  The worst part of anything like this is the waiting to find out!

Jeffrey sounds like good good news on your part!  Hope the toe continues to heal for you.

Woke up to find the area all colored white again this morning.....  Hope we are getting to the end of the cold weather here.  The severe winter may have destryed much of the Finger Lakes grape crops....  Too early to know the full extent of the damage, but at least one grower says he may not have enough grapes next fall to bother selling them.  Bummer to our wine industry!

I have to run a few errands prior to heading out to Canandaugua early this afternoon.  I stop by a bit later and see what is going on.

Later!

Good Afternoon!

Chloe, I´d like to have a nice hot mug load of coffee and a slice of that apple pie, with a topping of vanilla ice cream, please.

Got a pack of printer paper to make a 1:1 print of my track plan. It turned out to become a giant 110 piece puzzle, but some how I got it together. Now my fingers are all sticky with all that glue on them Embarrassed

The lower leg of the wye is still missing. I will use this as a template to cut the subroadbed. I think it will be a big help, also for putting the track down. I ordered a Xuron rail nipper. I have no good experience in using in regular wire cutter for cutting rail, so I´d like to give this one a chance. Another drain on mny MRRing budget, but there maybe another translation coming up for me.

Have a good one!

Well

we went to the Dr. for MOH, who MISSED the date by a MONTH! It is NEXT month, not this month. FOr the hip problem, seems MOH is rushing it to get it looked at! I don't think there is much that can be done as PT doesn't seem to work. It seems at job#2 the side-to-side motion a the register is what is doing it {aggrivating it that is}. ANd I don't think MOH is ready for a hip replacement yet, and we cannot afford that.

Went to Lowes, bought a new 45 pint de-hum-ditty-fier. It was $200 smackers, and a couple of new {and cheaper, but still costly} LED bulbs. two equivalent to 40 wattters for the dual bulb lamp in the 'puter room, and one for MOH's lamp chairside at 60 {or 80?} watts. Posta cost just $0.84 a YEAR for the larger bulb to run, probably just 2 hours a day or something, I didn't study that part. ANd they are posta last like 15 years!

MOH is missing morning work, but hip is killing, so will have to make up on tomorrow.

So, now I have laundry in the dryer. Will do the "delicate, fine washables" next.

Then NAP TIME!

That concrete floor at LOwes, was a KILLER on my back. It takes literally 15 minites for it to start, then i get to the agony point. MOH wanted to look at carpeting, and I said I had to get off that miserable floor. No way I could ever work in a store without the vinyl floor tiles!

WEll, I TOO, Hope more diners would post. Yesterday was a thin day, though in the southern parts, I think was NICE spring day, so may have something to do with it. It is still winter here inthe NE of the USA.

There should be some rule about lurking. YOu get to lurk just 10 times then you either JOIN and POST or you aren't allowed back in! But its a "free room"...THERE ARE NO SECRETS TO JOINING, JUST POST! it Is NOT a private club! ANYONE CAN JOIN!!!

I find it amazing some don't post hardly at all, but will post only to ask for prayers...we give those freely, too, but POST please! NOt just when you "need us for help"!!!

Dunno.

well, snacks have been had, have to do some bookkeeping from the CU and then off to join MOH for nap.

later..

Morning all. Sun in the sky this morning but -15 C and no above 0 temps till the end of the week with more white stuff forcast for tuesday thru thursday. I am so tired of this so called spring Angry

Got the MIL moved to an ënd of life" living/care facility on the weekend so that should be the end of the moving. Have to say it is a beautiful place with tons of loving staff.

Progress on a few fronts in the RR room. Half a dozen projects are all a work in progress so to speak. Don't know why I do that but I seem to get bored doing one project and switch to another . Poor attention span brought on by medication I suspect.

Just found out how time consuming building a lake/stream/waterfall is. That project is going to take a while. I also discovered that the planned roundhouse/turntable I had planned for the inside of a big loop is going to take up way too much real estate so I guess I'll sell the Walters kits and try to recover their cost. They haven't even been out of the boxes. Sheesh.

Other than that, I've been busy with the landforms here there and everywhere. Still have some more trackage to lay for a coal mine and a yard area. I have to keep reminding myself this is a hobby and not a job.

MOH just informed me that we are doing spring cleaning in the living room and front entry today and probably tomorrow so that takes care of today. I hate washing walls but they have to be done I'm informed. Joy oh Joy. At least she isn't talking painting so that is a good thing.

Have to take the Envoy in to have the front struts replaced and who knows what else.... ball joints come to mind. There goes a thousand bucks no doubt. It's starting to cause problems so I think it's time to start thinking of replacing it.

I haven't a clue as to what we would replace it with. Haven't looked a vehicles for at least 8 years so I've no idea what is out there that would be appropriate. We've driven either van's, trucks or suv's for the last 18 years so It will feel really strange to buy a car, plus in the past, I've had trouble finding a car that I can fit into with my long legs and long torso. I hate it when my head is an inch from the roof.

Any who, I've babbled on long enough for now. Take care all and hang in there... spring will eventuly arrive

Cheers

Dennis

What follows could be consider graphic.  If you have a weak stomach please don't read.

First and foremost! Don't try this at home! Went toe mining earlier. Temp was starting back up. It got up to 102.1. So I checked the toe. Gray and brown sick looking stuff was back. Time to find out from where. I wrapped the toe enough that I could move around to make some preparations. Found my cleanest needle nose pliers and buffed the to a shine with a brass bristle brush then they and my surgical scissors took a long dip in hydrogen peroxide and alcohol. I got the operating area ready then opened up the wound. Reached in with the closed pliers to probe a bit. I found a mass of the sick looking stuff. I turned my headlight onto high so I could see what I was looking at then spread the area open with the pliers and went in with the surgical scissors and cut that out and a little of the area around it. Time to mop to clear the blood. Now I looked under and around things. I found a couple of little patches and took them out along with some of the flesh around them. I probed around a bit more and the needle-nose tapped something hard. I tapped again. Bone. That stays. In short anything that didn't look right or didn't look like what's in my anatomy books went. I cleaned the wound and wrapped it to pull the two sides together so they can close. I then wrapped it up good. Hopefully I got it all. Need I say it? Don't try this at home! I can't feel pain below the knees. You can! Temp dropped to 101.4 then to 99.1.

If you think my description is graphic you should have been here to see it. Compared to that it's light reading. I'll keep track of the temp and plan my next action accordingly. Just to let you know, I took First Responder EMT training years ago but never went for the license. I don't like the sight of blood.

CDN Dennis ... I know what you mean about attention span. That's why I like to rotae betwen various projects. .... Sounds like a wonderful place for you MIL. My Mom is in her 90's and is doing well at a senior facility in Alabama. She is quite happy there and that is a blessing. My wife and her sisters are trying to convince their Mom in Tennessee to move out of her house into a senior home, but she is resisting the idea. ... As for the Envoy, I know those are good vehicles. Too bad repairs can be costly. Repair or replace? That is the question. ...

V8 Dennis ..... We have just booked flight reservations for your neck of the woods (southern CA) to go to a wedding in June. Shelley's brother's daughter is getting amrried. .... That will be a second long trip in a short period. We'll be cising our daughter in AZ starting late April. I hate flying, but that's what we will do.

Jeff .... Hope the condition improves and you are seeing a doctor

Regarding the Diner. ... I suggest we keep it friendly and positive as much as possible. ... Of course, Kalmbach is the "landlord" and it is good of them to allow off topic conversations here. So we follow their rules. .... Of course it is good to encourage each other with layouts and other stuff. .... Remind others they are welcome here, and welcome new Diners. .

Happy Model Railraoding!

Jeffrey,

I took the same training years ago and the site of blood doesn't bother me. Only my own! Big Smile

Does anyone in the diner speak Russian?

I've been really busy working on my own layout, for the past few weeks, while my shoulder will allow it and don't have to take so many drugs to ease the pain and just get sleepy. The layout sat for a good 3yrs, so there was and still is much to do. And then there is the fact, that I've come to the realization that it is just too big for one guy. So this spring I'm thinking of cutting some off with my son's help and the youngest one can take it home for his son's. 12&1/2 ftX40ftX12&1/2. The only thing that is really functional, is the double track main line and half the scenery. What I was thinking when I started building it 25yrs ago, God only knows.

I Remain,

Striped

Good Evening All,

All the way up to 32F - a regular heat wave. Time to save some w..k for tomorrow.

Dennis - did you mean the new guy that decided he would push his political agenda down our throats? Methinks he did himself in. Most of us do that sort of thing on line but definitely not in this forum. It's a matter of respecting each others opinions and trying to get along. Not so hard to do.   Cheers, J.R.

Good evening everyone. The "Lurking Law" has been laid down and I'll comply (although I've lurked more than 10 times). I live in NY, in the Bronx to be exact and as of 2012, am currently retired after working in power plants for 40 years. Between all the household projects, I am also re-doing my HO layout. I've expanded it from a 4'x8', to a 5.5'x12'. One of the household projects was clearing out old "stuff" that has been cluttering the basement for years. Anyway, I'm here now and you'll probably be seeing more of me. Take care folks. Eric

Good Evening,

Well it is about -15C right now with a very strong NW wind so it does feel cold. Supposedly the windchill tomorrow morning will be -32. Gee I'm sure glad spring started last Thursday. We are supposed to get above freezing by Saturday but I just don't believe it. Next year I plan on hibrinating as I think bears have the right idea.

Well Gary says we should talk about our trains so here is an up-date from me. I finally finished all 13 of those DPM kits. My little town is starting to really take shape but I now realize my Atlas station is far too small. In fact it looks out of scale compared to all the other buildings. It was a devil to build as they just downsized the HO kit. Cutting N scale downspouts off a sprue was a challenge. The solution is a new station which I have ordered. I have been running my N scale layout a bit and am happy with the trackplan. It is amazing what can be done on a door in N. I have been running my HO layout as well. All the buildings are lit as well as my passenger cars so at night it looks nice. The lighthouse beacon blinks and the Diner sign flashes while the Night Express chugs around at high speed. N

Greetings to Pav and hope you tell us more about your layout and yourself. I'm recently retired and live Canada just north of North Dakota.

Jeff, don't you think you should see a doctor rather than doing your own surgery?

I wonder what happened to Pascaff. He posted a lot last fall but has vanished.

Well dinner is done and time to see what to do this evening. I don't think there is anything on the tellie I want to watch so maybe I'll run trains! Got my fill of TV yesterday as we watched the Selfridge marathon yesterday on Detroit Public.

That;s what I'm doing tomorrow. This thing isn't bleeding properly. It's very, very minimal. Could be possible it's broken in the joint and circulation is cut off.

You guys can call of the search for me. lol I'm been lurking, but had nothing much to post until recently

Work still sucks, but the spring break girls kinda make it a bit more bareable. lol

I got my tax refund back, suprisingly the IRS said I made an error that shorted myself 80 bucks. So instead of 360 I got 440. Top that off with working close to 40 hours a week and I had some jingle in my pocket for once. So I ordered 3 SD40-2s in BN. These ones I got are different that the previous ones, so I'll have a total of 8.

I also am finally talking to a girl. We're still setting up plans though

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Welcome Eric. 5.5 x 12 is a good size. Large enough to have room and small enough to detail (and complete). Point to point, loop, prototype, freelance? Inquiring (nosey) minds want to knowSmile, Wink & Grin.

Last winter I had been keeping an eye on a mole that looked funny and started to swell. Turns out it was basel cell carcinoma and it was easily removed with little or no scar left a year later. Best to have it looked at ASAP before things get out of hand. FWIW I spend 24 or more weekends outside 10-12 hours at a stretch and that was the first time I "caught" anything. Bottom line is it's good to get checked and most of the actual issues are correctable.

I will see how the layout is in a minute and maybe get some stufff done or at least tidy up a bit.  Cheers, J.R.

Hi again guys. The layout is a double tracked mainline loop, with a small yard on one side of the layout and trackage for switching operations of various small industries, on the other. It is Digitrax dcc controlled with the throttle plug-ins located on both sides of the layout, one near the yard and the other on the "industry" side. While the trackwork is pretty much done, I am now in the wiring phase, but I'm taking my time and testing things as I go along. Although I said the trackwork is pretty much done, I have a short spur track on one end of the layout and am considering adding on to the table to accomodate a rail barge for more operating interest. - Eric

Sounds like a nice layout. It's certainly doing a lot more than mine is, which is nothing unless I'm doing a test of some kind.

Checked the toe again. No new brown or gray puffy crap. That's good. Tomorrow morning I'm calling the docs office and demand they list me an appointment for that day. Failing that I'll go there, sign in and make them see me. This is too important for them to ignore or put off until a 'convenient' time.

Well, that's the plan. We'll see what happens.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all later.

Hi Jeff, for the longest time there was no activity to speak of on my layout. I would really only operate it just to test run a newly purchased engine or rolling stock. Other than that I was usually doing something else. Good luck with your doctor visit tomorrow. As far as your layout goes, I'm sure that when the urge strikes you, you'll hit it with the same intensity as your current computer passion. - Eric

Evenin' folks!

Janie I need a cup of decaf to help me relax before I head out to bed.  Oh, and refill Eric's cup while your at it and put it on my tab....

Eric, welcome aboard!  Always good to see a new modeler here in the diner!

Mike Leman over in the WPF thread suggested that I could make a reasonable HO horse shoe out of fine solder.  So guess what I made tonight?

I have also finished the plastering and applied some earth colored paint to the area.  Here is a test fit of the Blacksmith's Shop as it is now.  Tomorrow I hope to put in the dirt road/driveway up to the shop.  As I decided not to use the bridge in this spot, the road will dead end at the shop.  That was my origional plan anyway...

Time to call it a day I think.  Catch you all in the morning, "God willing and the Creek don't rise..."

It's supposed to.  The owner wanted to give good luck to his customers.  Notice the photo of the door of the shop in the background of this photo.  What I done did is follow the prototype..... Whistling

Hi guys!

A livelier diner last night!! too bad I missed it, but we went to bed at 7 pm, both of us were exhausted. I expected to wake up around 9 and do an hour of TV and check the interweb, but I slept until 11 pm, and got up just a little bit and went right back. Now it is nearly 3AM, my proper time to be up.

PAV-ERIC! Welcome! Welcome Thank you for joining us! SOunds like a nice layout. I have a 3.5x5.1 foot HO layout that is two interconnected ovals with a 4 spur yard and a 2 spur engine facility inside the center. It can be amazing hte fun you can have I imagine your layout is just as much fun!

Packer-Vincent! You got TOP HONORS by posting, Good to see you again! Welcome BACK! GOOD luck with the girl, they are fickle creatures sometimes, but can provide lots of luvin' when it is right. I hope you overcome your "shyness" if this one doesn't work out.

Stripes: Thanks for stopping by! That sounds like a large "visinary layout" is what you may have been thinking years ago! Remember you can change your layout, just can't change your stripes!

Dennis: glad MIL is settled. That takes a load off your minds. I will still keep her on as "family" of diners...

JR.;My, you were a prolific poster last nihgt, keep up the good work!

Jimmy Braum: I will add you to the prayer, and healing energies list.

My morning routine greeting follows...

Gallaxy,

What is the temp there right now--14deg. Wind/WNWxW/chill -5 here. going to be  another lovely day on the island.Down to two weeks of wood, ordering another 10 cord this week, 12 foot length, I have to cut and split-Oak $125 cord.

Could have made it on 7 if the winter hadn't been so cold. Feel sorry for the folks who put in propane to beat the high cost of oil. It is up to 4.11 a gal. in this area. K1 waterclear oil is 4.05 a gal. I still have 7/8 of a tank to use in emergencies.

Looking hard at pellet stoves for a year from now. It will take two to heat this ranch, but will be cheaper than oil, and easier on the back than wood.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee please, and …, oh I’ll just hit the sweet roll bar. Thanks.

A chance of flurries before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 34. Looks like tonights 15° will be the last below freezing temps for at least a week. Monday projected almost 70. Yet I look out the window and I see white.Sigh

Jeffrey- Ick! I know, I know. You warned me but, I read on anyway. Oh well. I have a pretty tuff tummy. I thought I could take care of my ingrown toenails back when I was a teenager. But like you said, I had feeling so I didn’t do a good job at all. Hope you get in to see the Doc today.

Jimmy- Hoping it’s not the worst. Get to it fast and things are much better. My Dad had several over the years, but quick reaction time made them no more dangerous than just a benign mole.

Eric- Welcome

Ray- I am more impressed every time I see the Blacksmith shopBow. I always wondered why many times the horseshoe was purposefully hung upside down. Now I know.

Herrinchoker- I hear a lot of good things about pellet stoves. Several people I know are looking very seriously at them.

OK. Railroad stuff. HmHmm. Haven’t had anything to say in quite some timeAshamed. With the weather warming and the projects coming in ( have a 300+ foot fence to build, a rear porch to build and a front porch to replace the railings on not counting other odds and ends that may come along) and my own outdoor stuff to do, maybe I can use the rainy days to do some layout stuffConfused.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Jeffrey, Was this brought on by the fall on Friday?, or do you have other issues with the foot?

Probably more due to something I may have done to it Thursday when working on the tractors. Friday's indident could have kicked it over the edge. When I checked it Saturday there was a rip-roaring infection going. I did what I could for it then. Having to go over and goad Mr Irresponsponble sot into gear to get the job he had promised to do done didn't  help matters any.
