Examples of questions where knowing the scale makes a BIG difference:
How difficult is it to install a decoder into a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0?
Can a 2-8-8-4 handle a 15" radius curve?
How many cars should my Kato SD70MAC be able to pull up a 2% grade?
What's the best lighting kit for a Budd RDC?
What's the footprint of the Walthers Cornerstone Dayton Machne Shop?
How much clearance will a need for a intermodal double stack?
Where can I get roadrunners and coyotes for my layout?
Should I worry about the cat stepping on the rails?
Yes, as a general rule, the subjects of benchwork, scenery techniques, wiring, painting rolling stock and locos, weathering, LHS and assorted others are not scale specific. Questions about installtions, modifications, performance, detail levels, etc, ARE scale specific.
Well, since the quakes in California have registered high enough on the RICHTER scale to knock me off my soapbox, I'll just pack up my trains and be done for now.
Oh, just one more thing: I asked if y'all would be surprised if I said I worked in HO scale, I didn't say that I DO model HO. Fact is, I'm an N scale guy... 'twas an illuminating display of the power of assumption though, eh? nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.
"Why, I oughta...."

Phil,
I don't ride a Harley. Truth to tell, I've demo'd three different cruisers so far, and I can't stand the ergonomics, they just don't work for me. I ride a Honda ST1300, and have a Triumph sportbike that's out on rental right now.
But, I did tour the Harley factory in York last July. Way cool...

That would be "G" Scale,,"G" for Grand Scale, or Grand Stand, or Grand Standing, or Grand Central, or Giant, or Great Big, or Great Devide, as in where my Great Big Hemroid presently resides. God, I love it when someone gets on a "Rant", it just brings out the creative side in everyone.[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]Anyone else for a Rant.[#welcome][soapbox][:-^][(-D][(-D]
