I’ve been using premix drywall mud for awhile myself for the same reasons you described. I can do as little or as much as I want at any time without waste. Even that little bit I missedLaugh. I like it much better and the results are indistinguishable. Well, at least to me.

Thanks for the info on the drywall stuff Todd. That confirms it, I'll use that instead of P of P. The P of P I'll use for rock castings etc.

That's just one of the things I like about this forum, just ask and somebody will have tried something and can give an opinion. Whistling

Thanks Todd

Good morning. It's 46° with 100% humidity. Showers likely. The high will be 65°.

The word for today is rain. We're getting lots of it. I guess I'm caught up on my sleep now. I hadn't had much lately so it was no surprise that I was very tired yesterday afternoon. I laid down for a short nap and woke up about 3am. It was raining to beat the band. Since the computer was still on I had a look around online, made a posting or two then shut it down and went back to bed. Woke up again at 9am.

Today I plan to do some grocery shopping. The food stamp card is reloaded so I can get some of the stuff I need. It's not much, just $49 but that's something at least. I'm also going to see if I can find a PS2 to USB adapter so I can use my old keyboard. I'm getting really aggravated with this new one and I'm about to snap it in two! The keys are too low and really sensitive and they're too small for my big fingers. I'll keep it around as a spare.

Mornin' folks,

Zoe, just another cup of dark roast coffee please.

Had a breakfast meeting with the District Executive for Boy Scouts this morning.  Had to sign off on the closing of the Cub Pack that didn't make it.  The church that sponsored the Pack would still like to get the pack back up and running some time in the future, so with a new group of leaders, who knows it may happen.

Still cold out there today.  Currently 31°F under mostly cloudy skies and 20+ mph winds out there.  Tomorrow they say it could be in the 50s.  I'm ready for Spring to arrive!  I think I shall spend some time downstairs in the train rooms...  But first I may take a nap to digest the huge breakfast I had this morning.

Later!

Italian Roast coffee in a UNDECORATED mug, please.

***Ulrich, I agree with others here that you should (in the long run) start feeling much better following the procedures. Some depression can be a side-effect at times, so being aware of that when it happens and knowing it will pass may help during such times. You WILL feel better as your body heals. My two cents worth.

After spending much of yesterday in my Sports Car (mini excavator) and feeling like my whole body was vibrating by evening with ringing ears, not sure I am up to much of anything today, other than putting Tinytoon's shoes back on later this afternoon.

First order of (HO) Kato Unitrack is on the way and may be here tomorrow. Suppose I could work on cleaning the Train Room floor which is littered with pieces of the (N) shelf layout I removed. It's a real mess at the moment.

Have a good day all.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Actually I think Townhouses are suppose to have a shared wall and these are free standing houses but Townhouse type construction. there only about 5 feet apart with a walkway on one side for a side door entrance, on the other side is your neighbors walkway.

Are you talking about a single wall or a double wall? Here single wall shared wall construction is frowned upon. Fire safety and all that. What's used instead is a double wall with a with some kind of fire resistant material in between. The free standing construction you describe is the most common that I see here.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee please. No thanks gotta get movin on other shtuff. Spent too much time on another thread but thanks anyway.

Sunny, with a high near 51. Looks like only going up from here. Finally.

Dennis- I’ve been using premix drywall mud for awhile myself for the same reasons you described. I can do as little or as much as I want at any time without waste. Even that little bit I missedLaugh. I like it much better and the results are indistinguishable. Well, at least to me.

Ulrich-  It is very understandable Petra’s one and only concern at the time was you and we are naturally below  that. That’s the way it should be and I wouldn’t want or expect it any other away. We’re all just very relieved you are better now and hope you have a successful and speedy recovery.

Today, first up is a repair to a light that went out in the kitchen at the restaurant last night, probably the ballast. That’ll be first up on the agenda, er wait, best time the rip into town for parts around lunch. See f Suki's in a better mood. Dirty job but someone's gotta do it. Sooo maybe some laundry first, maybe a bit of spring cleanup baring any phone calls, might take the sn*blower down to the carwash to get the salt off it. Still not sure about the weather to get the powerwasher going yet. And a Church meeting tonight.

Last night Brenda reminded me she was going to leave Friday for Las Vegas for the ACM awardsIndifferent. I acted like I remembered and apparently pulled it of wellWhistling. Also got out of her rather slyly, that she will return on TuesdayWink. Yah I know, I’m good.Yes

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Amen to that advice! Ulrich, I can't think of a better therapy than train! When I had my stroke in 2011,, even while I was bed ridden I still had magazines, DVD and the web to keep my mind occupied. Garage cleaning today. I have a large pile of tools, along with shovels, rakes, and other implements of destruction (anybody catch that reference?) to be put away, the garage  needs to be swept out (might use the leaf blowerWink) then IF I have time, some weed & Feed for the yard.

Good Morning!

It is a sunny day here in Germany, though the temperature still does not indicate that this is Spring. We are at 28F right now, the high expected to get up to 40F.

As I wrote yesterday, I am still shocked about what has happened to me. I have a hard time going to bed at night, fearing I might not wake up in the morning. This will eventually go away, as soon as I have regained some confidence in my life. There are quite a number of things I have to change and the list appears to be endless, but I tackle it step by step. At the moment, working down this list is all I can do - all other interests have fallen off the list. Which, in effect, will mean no MRRing other than armchairing and "spreading" my wisdom in this forum Smile, Wink & Grin

Petra knows how to post to this forum and he English is sufficient to communicate, but I guess she was just too much worried about me to come here and inform you folks. She spent all the days I was "gone" at my side and needs to relax just as much as I have to.

It feels good to know that I am among my friends again.

Have a good one!

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refill for the decaf please.

I actually spent some time in the train room this evening.  Put in the rest of the tree trunks along the wall and finished one side of the wooden fence.  Have a shorter side yet to go, and hope I can get that done tomorrow.  Little by little I am making a bit of progress.  Not nearly as much as I would like, but still, progress.

Checked out the meter for today while it was still calculating for the day.  The panels kicked out 18 Kwh of power even though it was a mostly cloudy, snowy day here in the Finger Lakes.  I also went outside and read the house meter to see what the total consumption figured out to be.  In the last week (since the meter was read) I have used all of 11 Kwh more than the system has made.  If this keeps improving, April may be the first month where I have made more power than I end up using.  This should continue to improve until we hit the Summer Solstice and then it will gradually go back down.

Tomorrow morning I have a breakfast meeting with the District Executive for Boy Scouts.  He wants to go over some items I need to know for the Handicapped troop I will be commissioner for, and discuss the closing of all the accounts for the Pack that has been dissolved.  That should take care of most of the morning for me.  I will be right next door to the LHS so I will most likely spend some $$$ while I am downtown.

Have a great night!

Evenin' folks!

Cloe, I'll have a cheeseburger with fries and one of those huge dill pickles to go along with it.  A cup of decaf would be perfect, thanks.

I'm sitting here typing one handed as my other arm is cuddling my black and white kittie Blackie... He has been out and about several times today and is trying to do some things he hasn't been able to since he got sick.  He came over and begged to be picked up and then went through all the snugly head butt things. Now he has settled in on my shoulder to be held for a while.  Earlier, at lunch time he was trying to jump up onto the kitchen table via his usual route but after trying a couple of times decided not to get up.  I picked him up and let him sit by me while I had my lunch.  He was very excited and happy!  He is moving much better and is getting around more now.  Guess the therapy is working for him.

Karl, every time I read about the nonsense from some commercial banks, the more I like my Credit Union!

Other than driving over to the Pharmacy to get an Rx I needed, I have accomplished nothing today.  I did take an hour nap on the rug next to the wood stove.  Feel better.  Guess I have been burning the candle at both ends too much.

Catch up with you all later!

Phooey - two days of running around doing stuff and nothing done on Ye Olde RR. Oh well, the weather guessers are predicting rain, sn*w, sleet whatever for the next four or five days so maybe then Confused

I did manage to pick up a few supplies today like a WS foam cutter, an assortment of styrene sheets, shapes and whatnot. Oh yes, some more paint for the air brush. Boy do I need to "Brush Up" on my rusty airbrush skills Indifferent No, the airbrush isn't rusty, I am...

Glad to see you back ULRICH THAT was some scary time you had. Behave yourself and mend well my friend!

I've been watching a bunch of Youtubes videos trying to get up to date on the new ways of doing scenery/land form/mountains the last few days and at this point I'm more confused that before I started. I did like the one where they were using the 45 min. drywall mud rather than plaster of paris. I have always found that P of P sets way too fast even with a retarder for me. Have to rush rush and I end up with less than acceptable results. For rock castings etc. it's fine. Anyway I think I'll try that new stuff and see.

The cardboard weave thing is interesting as well and I've cut a bunch of strips on the table saw for those. I have to go get some hard board for the fascia and get it installed first before I get started on scenery. Oh right, I also have to put the switch controls into the fascia too. More twisted sore neck stuff.

That's about all for me this afternoon. Stay well all!

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

The melt is really slow so far, and thank goodness for that or we would be in deep trouble.

Temps for the next week are just a couple of degrees below to a couple above freezing, so it looks like it will remain slow for awhile.  You can notice the snow compacting and there is some water on the streets but hasn't caused much of a problem as yet.

Take care of the Cat.

Glad to see you back with a brand new puter Jeffrey, even if it is running windows stupid. Now that you are "god" on it things should get easier.

Oh yeah. Quite a bit easier. Now I can find what I need quickly instead of having to pick the thing apart. Whoever designed Windows 8 needs to go to work for the government. They've already proven they can take something simple and make it insanely complicated without much trouble.

Something I was looking for a little while ago was a calculator. XP and previous versions had a real good one. Couldn't find one in 8. So I dug up one online and created a shortcut on the desktop to link to it.

Well,

Went grocery shopping. Spent a fair amount. Went to a store that is new to us {have been supporting MOH's chain while MOh worked there}, and found GREAT meat sale items on BEEF. They apparently mark it down in the AM if date is before the use by date {expires tomorrow} Since I freeze all meat, it is no problem. saved beaucoup buck-a-rinos!

TOmorrow I go again to a different but new store to shop. and to the old store too.

Am BUSHED though!!! MY back is screaming and I can barely move!

Glad to know ULRICH is BACK! AND OK>

MOh went to do stupid test for Employment wont hear til next week...stooopid Qs like "do you take drugs?" Have you ever fought anyone? DOes anyone ever piss you off? Have you ever failed a drug urine test?

I told MOH I'd have said the HOSPITAL I VOLUNTEER for jsut did a COMPLETE BLOOD WORK to establish WHAT is NOT in my system!

Ugh!

WEll off to nappy with MOH is now home and will get to us soon.

Followed your instructions and I now have God mode enabled. You're right, everything is there.

Glad to see you back with a brand new puter Jeffrey, even if it is running windows stupid. Now that you are "god" on it things should get easier.

The last puter I got had Windows 8 on it and I reformatted the drive and installed Linyx. Not that I wanted to learn a new Operating system but Windows Hate is such a mess that it would have taken just as much effort to learn it plus I now don't have to worry about all the windows hackers/bugs/trogans etc. , especially on a network server.

Anyway enjoy something new for a change Jeffrey along with your new phone.

Happy April 2nd Gang,

And a very special WELCOME BACK to our TALL GERMAN FRIEND.

Ulrich you have been giving us all the"" heebee jeebees"", we all have been very concerned over your instant disappearance.  You have had Prayer Candles, special services in the Chapel Car and World Wide Prayers from all the Diner members pulling for you.  We are all extremely glad that you have made it through and are on the mend.  Your presence here has been greatly missed.   CHLOE, double root beer floats for everyone, these are on me today.  Hope Petra isn't too stressed out either................

Not much news MRR wise,  I'm back at work for the last couple of days, but have the next three off then work the week-end again.  Maybe in those three days I can really perform and get some more scenery moving along.  IT TAKES ME SO LONG TO MAKE UP MY MIND , as to what I want it to look like that most of my time is spent pondering.  Oh well, it will come to be.

Hope you all have a great day.  By the way I took a look at MR video plus last evening, and I think it has possibilities.  It will defiantly take up more modeling time from us, but we will all find something that we will learn.

Johnboy out................................and back to the salt mine.

We have met the enemy,  and he is us............ (Pogo)
