Laugh Keep getting the top Galaxy and you won't have any money for those Z scale trains you were looking at! I'll be a gentlemen and pick up the Tab for Mr.Galaxy, here's my card miss. Also say hello to the two newest units in my fleet!  I think I'll replace their frames with the newer life like frame(like the ones in the GN units on the other side of the SP&S ones). the B is a dummy, the horn on the A is missing, and it was a little hesitant at first. now to procure that pair of alco C424/425's that are wearing Conrail blue so I can repaint 'em!

Jake, how's your scholarship application(s) coming along? Or did you already send them along to the college(s)?

Just waiting on reference letters. Once they get in the applications will be sent out.

Good afternoon.

Headache right now, so I'm not going to do much aside from homework. Hope it clears up.

Good Evening!

We had a quiet farewell to Dad. I know he is in a better place, united with his parents and sisters.

I am at peace now.

I've been busy working on a couple of locos today.

The first is a GP40. It's all Bachmann, body, frame, motor, everything. Well not quite. The couplers are Kadee. However there is something slightly amiss. Can anyone spot it? Better put your sharp peepers on.

The other is this GP38. Bachmann and Atlas. The coupler pockets are a bit high so I have some Kadee 142's coming. I could have cut out the middle of the pilot, put in a shim and lowered the coupler taht way but I really didn't feel like doing that. Must be getting old.

Afternoon, Zoe - how about a BLT & a RBF, please? I'll cover my eats & drink, so Galaxy will be able to afford some Z scale freight cars. Thank you. Dinner

Ken, was your day a lot like those photos you put up with your post? Just wonderin'... One of THOSE days, between w**k and playing 'defense' with the wife... Sigh

Ulrich, your Dad looks like he had a little mischief in his eyes, even back then. He looks almost like me back about that age (but not in that same year, of course...). Thinking of you and your brother today as you say goodbye to your father. AngelAngel [Edit]: Good to hear that you and your brother were able to pay your respects and for all of you to be at peace.

Galaxy, you may want to count how many posts are on a page, before posting your greeting. I don't recall how many fit on a page before it rolls over, but I think there is some magic number (other than yours, which has seemed to be coming up a wee bit toooo regularly lately). Oops (Not to stir things up.. but any word from YOH's other job interview?)

Sorry about the mixup, JaBear - from the place(s) I looked up, they said something about ANZAC's first celebration of it happening a couple/few years after the actual battle. My bad. Oops Did I understand you correctly, that they will have a celebration at Gallipoli? I was thinking you were talking about your local area celebrations. (Hey, that's some heavy-duty steamers there!)

Whooooosssshhh!! - Was that Barry? I couldn't tell! Whistling

Mr. Beasley, that nightmare was in your sleep (and not when you were still awake too late at night), right? Surprise Frightening!

Oh, darn, Karl - here I thought I had some plans for Friday, but since you've already laid claim to THAT day, I guess I'll stay in bed...Smile, Wink & Grin

Todd, it sounds like you attended one of those wine-tasteroo things. The foundation that helps our agency get funds (for computers and other schtuff) has one of those annual wine-tastering things. I usually pass on attending. Besides, since I drive myself everywhere, I wouldn't be able to drive home for a bit after it was all done (not without having to watch over both my shoulders for the police, that is...). So I've missed out on those joys that you had last night. Oh, durn! Whistling Oh, and glad they didn't have one of those jackets in your size. I'm hard to fit, too... Wink

Gary, your new locos look like they should pull well (from appearance only). Have you checked out how well they pull yet?

Jeff, while both of those locos look good, I have no clue about what's off on them (past my RR's time period). And, are you re-doing that building front behind the second loco?

I've had an idea bouncing around in my head off-and-on the past few weeks, about building a 3' X 3' corner section for my turntable & engine facilities. But since how it connects to the rest of the layout is still awaiting an actual spare bedroom to build it in. Of course, I could get back to wiring the existing layout sections, but for THAT, I should pull everything off the top of the layout (and put all the rolling stock in boxes) and move stuff out from under the layout so I can get to the feeder wires, and... Hmm,... why am I feeling like taking a nap, after just thinking about it?

I'll sit and think at the window booth a while...

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.

the A's got quite a heft to it, should be able to pull a bit. I still want to mount the shells onto newer Life like loco mechanisms, the only thing I need to figure out is how to fill that gap in the pilot, and where to put the couplers.

Oh no. This is much harder to spot. You might have to strap on a couple of microscopes. It has to do with the shells relationship to the frame.

Hello.

Jeff, is the body shell sitting a little high on the frame? The truck-body distance doesn't seem right to me (maybe I'm just that used to Alcos Surprise).

Allergies are obviously kicking in. Headache hasn't cleared up yet, and my eyes are itchy. Also feeling a little congested.

Ulrich, I'm happy that you had so much time to be together with your father.  My own Dad passed away at an early age from what was likely a smoking-induced cancer, when I was only 23.  I regret to say that I never really got to know him as one man to another.  After he passed on, my Mom was never the same, either, so in some ways I lost both parents at the same time.  Count the days you did have with them as a blessing.

On the other hand, my wife's parents are still going strong, living independently in a second-story walk-up condo, right on the beach in Florida.  She's 92, and he's 96.  I think their stubborn independence has kept them not only alive, but thriving and still mentally young.

Hey! We got a WINNER! You get an extra piece of pie! It's a Bachmann GP40 shell on a Bachmann GP38 frame. While the frames are very similar there are minute differences. But you have to be really sharp to catch them. It's pretty hard to describe. You have to see them side by side for it to be apparent. The other loco is a Bachmann GP38 shell on an Atlas GP40 frame. It just looks better there than the GP40 shell did. The GP40 shell went onto the GP38 frame with no modification. And it's a tight fit too.

 Evening Folks

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Well I am off Friday and Saturday! Big Smile I had Sunday off as well, but due to a Foot Ulcer Clinic appointment Tuesday I had to give up the 3 day weekend. Sigh It was all most risking to have the Toe cut off for a 3 day weekend!

Not sure how Friday will go. I have to go get fitted for new Diabetic Shoes, my current pair is worn out and causing ankle pain from my good foot. Seem my left ankle has bone spurs and causes me to step just a little odd and I ware the heel out at a angle. That starts causing pain in the ankle. Last time I was there, it took around 3 hours, hope this time it goes quicker.

Next I have to pay for the Darn Lawnmower Repairs and have it delivered! Repair bill with pick up and delivery is $150.00! Bang Head Darn thing is only around 1 1/2 years old and cost $350.00. My old Central Hardware mower was 20 years old when it died, and was never repaired! New mower needed a new carb.

Saturday will be mainly about trains! Big Smile I hope! Whistling

See you all later, I am beat.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refill on the decaf please...

Day turned out to be mostly sunny and a high in the 50's so it was actually a fairly nice spring day in these parts.

Went over to the troop meeting tonight and sat in on some of the Scouts doing requirements for Communications Merit Badge.

Have most everything packed and ready to go for the trip this weekend...  I will probably stop in for morning coffee and then won't be in here until Sunday evening.  i could take the laptop with me, but I doubt I will find time to even turn it on.

Hope you all have a pleasant night!  Prayers for everyone.

Whistling

G'd evening gang,

Vinnie, sure glad to see you put the rush on those "Pie Throwers" from the East, they seem to be a rowdy bunch.   Teehee.

Chloe, I'll have my regular HC. and cookies before bed, thanks.

I'm working three in a row right now, finished two and one to go tomorrow.  Took a few minutes this evening  and did a tune up on a FT3A that was growling quite a bit and now is as quiet as my Atlas locos.  Must have done something right.  Then I changed out some couplers on a Bachmann (NP) SD40-2 and glued the handrails in a few spots that had worked loose.  That was the extent of it tonight.

Ulrich,  good Buddy,  glad your day was as good as it could be and that your Brother was there with you. I think that was very important for now and in the future. Something you did together. I am sorry about your Mother's situation, but all that you could do was done and she still has her free agency. It is sad that some of the thought processes don't seem to be on track but we have no control over those.  Glad you felt better in the evening and hope you can start to be kind to yourself. Rest well.

Ray,Have a great Canadian Week-end. Hope all goes well and you have a wonderful time.

I like the work a lot of you have been showing, I have to get the camera and puter working together and get some of my pix posted.

Having a hard time keeping my eyes open, so you know the direction that I'm going.

Prayers and blessings to all.

Johnboy out...................................... and I think maybe it is finally Springtime.  The melt is on.

Nothing to be sorry about at all,Jim.  25 April was first recognised as Anzac Day in 1916, though the first "official" ceremony seems to have taken place in different years in the various Australian States and New Zealand. For many years Anzac Day waned in popularity and in fact became a day of anti war protest during the Vietnam era, continuing as a day of protest for anti nuclear and various radical groups. However since the late 80s there has been a vast resurgence in Word War 1 and its commerations especially by younger people and not only in local commemorations, but since then it almost has become a rite of passage for young Aussies and Kiwis on their Big Overseas Experience to be at Gallipoli on the 25th.   It is now got so big that the ballot system has to be introduced. I will be at the local ceremony down here in the "village".

(Hey, that's some heavy-duty steamers there!)

Funny you should say that ,Jim. Last club meeting a new member was commenting on how big an NZGR K class locomotive was ( the photo was taken some time in the early 40s standing beside a "J" class, the approaching loco is a "K"}.

He wondered if a "Big Boy" was much bigger???  We said "YES" !!!! and quoted a few figures, but I decided to do a visual comparison, and surprised myself!!!

The MP15AC was added for perspective as a model HO Atlas was the new members first purchase.

Here's a link to New Zealand locomotive classes for anyone who maybe interested.........

OZJim. Slept in eh?????!!!! Surprise I gather your new job is keeping your "nose to the grindstone", so fair enough.Smile, Wink & Grin

My Grandfather joined a cavalry regiment in 1914 but as the result of a training accident was invalided out of the British Army in 1916. He was a" fire watcher " in Birmingham England during WWll. My Dad was in the British Army during the Korean War but did not serve abroad. I look at the casualty lists of the First World War and wonder if it hadn't been for my Grandfathers accident, would there have been, a Bear ??? Both my Grandfathers sisters lost their "beaus" in the conflict.

Thoughts and Best Wishes to All who need them.

Cheers, the Bear.
