Whistling

Hi Gang,

I see the numbers are dwindling here as some of us oldsters slip away to bed.

Zoe, if you please, I'll have a HC. and a couple of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies to tide me over until Breaky.

I hope in the morning Tipton Bill has some HOT coffee for us. Sure haven't been pleased with his offerings of late.  HaHaHa.   I'm sure he would lose that early morning job if Vinnie found out about cold coffee and only half cups.   Just not up to the standards we expect here in the ol' diner

Good Luck with your endeavor into Politics Ulrich.  If we could figure a way to get the Chapel car over to you, you could use it as a campaign office. You might even be able to talk Garry and Jeff to go over and be your Campaign Managers.    Wink  Cool    Some how they look like the Blues Brothers, dontcha think ?.

Willie, you be sure to keep all that snow out there in Alberta. WE DO NOT WANT ANY MORE> and I would hate to have to pass it on to CN. Charlie, Seamonster Bob, and Blind Bruce. I think they have had more than their share anyway, plus they get all the melt from us too.

Had lots of running around today on this day off.  Had to pick up my snow blower as it was having some auger repairs. Then picked up a new set of  tires for my wife's car.  Took her out for supper to a buffet,,,,NO not Chinese tonight.  So all I accomplished on the LM&E other than running  a couple of trains for a short time was that I made up a batch of plaster and poured a few more rock castings.

That HC. tasted good so I am now off to the sack for a few ZZZZzzzzssss. Zzz

Prayers and blessings to all in need.   Catch ya all tomorrow.

Good Morning!

I am up early today, getting prepared for the trip to Berlin. Lots of papers to print, staple and file. A first taste of my future job?

Congress people are well paid. The best part of that job is - if you serve two terms, you are entitled to a nice pension. Not a bad deal!

To enjoy all of these benefits, there are three hurdles to overcome:

  • Tomorrow´s assembly
  • Winning the election for state party chairman on May 1st.
  • Winning min. 5% of all votes in the September 22nd General Election.

Today, the poll sees us at 5.4% and rising ...

I´ll be out for the next two days . see you all on Monday!

Have a good weekend!

 Evening Dinner's

 Flo Beer Pleases

Work Front, I was there, the customer where not there and Evil Tyler made a visit. Pretty much blew his rant off.

Vince's what the heck does "AFAIK" mean? You have to use proper grammar with me, I old! Laugh Far as how many versions Proto made of the SD 7 and 9's if there where only two, they sure used more than one PC Board for them. Has far as the New Rio Grand SD 9, I don't think Walther's had bought Life Like at the time this one was made. I had been wanting to buy this one from K-10 for something like 5 years now. Getting the Parts SD 9 from Ed was the logic I used to buy it? Hmm

New SD 9 Rio Grand Front. More I think about the racket I was hearing, the more I think it is worm gearing bearings like my PK 1000 NYC F3 A was making. I sure hate taking a new engine apart to try to fix it my self. If I can't, I may not be able to return it.

 See you all later, Ken

Jake .... Sounds interesting.  Does the scholarship specify what and where you study?

Ulrich ...... We'll have to select slogans for your campaign. This is a corny one, and I'd hate to think of the German translation: .... "Enrich With Ulrich!"

Several of you might recall might recall my griping last year because a major bridge was down on the way across the lakes. A river freighter hit it, and one span was destroyed. It took most of the year to replace the span with a new one.

Well, here is today's news for the same bridge:

"The US 68/KY 80 Eggners Ferry Bridge is CLOSED to traffic at this time after a tow boat pushing several empty barges hit one of the bridge piers. According to the US Coast Guard, the Motor Vessel Evey T was headed downstream on the Tennessee River/Kentucky Lane when a gust of wind blew the tow into the right descending pier on the main channel just after 3:00 p.m., CDT."

Bridge inspectors have determined the bridge is okay, and it was just re-opened.

Should mention that that the money will come from a former attorney's will. Had a lot of money and said in his will that he was looking to have it spread out like this. Not typical bank work.

That's good! Take it while you can get it.

*

Got a little cleanup done on the layout today. There's a few cables, some wire and a computer part added to a box in the closet now. I gave four of the FP7's a good run this afternoon.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Guess what? Got an application in the mail for a $40,000 scholarship from C&N Bank today! That's full tuition! Will definitely apply for it. Big Smile

Better check the interest rate and other info on that carefully. Banks don't give money away.

Well...we managed to clear the tops of the poplar trees off the garage

Glad it was you guys doing the chainsawing of the poplars. If it was me I'd be on a respirator after all that. Well, not quite but poplar sawdust and I REALLY don't get along that well. WHEEZE

Good Friday evening, all! 34f and snowing. ugh.

Yup, us too up here in Alberta Terry. UGH is right. Super Angry

Evening Diners, TGIF and all that stuff to those still w*rking. Still feeling less than wonderful but better than before so I suppose that's progress. Don't think the stupid weather is helping anything in that department.

Been doing small stuff on the RR like installed the new command station today, fiddled around with some tunnel lining to see if my or was that Lion's idea works. Played around with a prototype of a turnout control panel and took some pictures for see and tell.

Oh right, pulled my Walthers Bud Railcar out of the box for the first time and checked to see how to tear it apart to install a decoder. They even have instructions on how to hard wire the decoder. Amazing Grampa as my Gradson would say. Whistling

As noted above, we are forecast for 20 cm of the white stuff with high winds for the whole weekend so not much outside planned. We usually lose power in these spring storms so we'll wait and see.

Here are a few pictures of the stuff I'm messing with of late.

My ongoing castings of rocks in my "Rock Quarry" box. Going to need a ton of them.

One side of the plastic chloroplast tunnel liner/keep them off the floor wall.

And finally the prototype turnout control panel. I'll need 24 of them plus a main yard panel.

Cheers

Dennis

Well...we managed to clear the tops of the poplar trees off the garage...there are a number of holes poked through and, of course, his van took a hit...the trees were standing in about 12" of water at my other neighbours house...guess what happened...over-saturated ground/ice build up/wind....poof down she went...took the other poplar down with it. Took portable sawmill to work on them....now we got ~230 board feet of poplar wood to muck around with....

Good Friday evening, all! 34f and snowing. ugh.

Got my ceilings done in T&G end match. Had some time off so I thought I'd cross off a Honey-do.Smile

Heard from PFC Son. That " incident" last Saturday with the State Dept. girl. That was his unit pulling security. Said it was "his State Dept people, not his crew" They were scheduled for the mission but were pulled off at the last minute because they'd been out that am. The other 2 truck crew ran the mission. He knew her as  well as everyone else in the convoy. That's what his job is. Do not believe the "official" spin on this. He is fine .Nuff said.

On the train front, ran out of ballast so that's at a standstill. Thank God.Laugh

 That's all fer now!

Afternoon guys

Got 3 boxcars built. I never understood why the doors on accurail cars seem too big for their openings. I have 2 DW cars left to build, but I ran out of 33 inch wheelsets.

Ken, AFAIK, there were only 2 runs of the P2K SD7/9. The ones in the blue box, and the newer walther's realease. Since yours has the screw-on coupler pockets, yours it the newer run. If all else fails, bug walthers. Although I highly doubt walthers stocks parts anymore.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Garry - I called the nursing home to see how things are at the moment and they advised me not to come. My Mom is not in control of her words and actions. She will be able to stay there as long as they can handle her, but the next step is coming soon ... This is so sad, so very sad.

 Morning

 Flo, Diet Dew

Well no good luck on the Rio Grand front. New Rio Grand SD 9 making all kinds of racket. Grumpy It sort of sounds like the gears slip now and then. I did lube the truck, (no gunk in them) and the motor before I test ran it. Will try a little more oil tonight after work.

Rio Grand SD 7, (Parts engine Ed sent me) It will only run on DC, so I guess I will need to wire it like the B&O SD 7 I got from Vince's.

 See you all after work.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buckwheat pancakes with fresh NYS maple syrup and a pot (10 cup) full of dark roast coffee for my FGLK Mug, please and thank you Ma'am.

"I'ts a lovely day today, and whatever you've got to do...."  Lovely if you are a duck maybe...  That storm Jeffrey had yesterday is now dumping some major rain here in the Finger Lakes region.  Got about a half inch last night and coming down steady outside at the moment.  We have a lake going right across three properties across the street (happens every time we get a lot of rain).  I saw a city truck driving slowly through the area a couple days ago that looked like they are checking out the problem.  i know all the folks across the street have been complaining about the poor drainage for years.  maybe they will finally do something about it.

Got some firewood there I guess, Barry!  Hope the trees didn't do too much damage to the neighbors house and glad they didn't come down on your house.

I have a long list of items tio be done today.  Unfortunately none of them involve much to do with trains...Sad

Best get moving I guess!

Lion ...... I see the gymnasium says it is "now storage" ...... Does that mean you guys no longer work out? ... Looks like quite a complex. Maybe, you should do live steam outside.

WE no longer run a school, so there is no need for a gymnasium / auditorium. But there is pleanty of need for storage since monks never throw anything away. Work out? What is that? There is an exercise room with modern exercise equipment here in the monastery, so we would not have to trek across the winter fields just to work out. Besides that building was a bear to heat, having its own STEAM boiler and all. That has been drained and cold for about 25 years now.

We DO have live steam! A big coal fired boiler heats most of the buildings on the campus.

Feeling ok this morning. Supposed to have on and off rain today. We're about 2" behind, so we are in need of it.

Just learned of an Air Show that's to take place tomorrow. Will do some research about it.

Good morning. It's 43°F with 100% humidity. It will be sunny with a high of 75°F.

Still have some more clutter to clean up on the layout. Surprising how fast it builds up. I have a train running this morning. Three geeps and a slug pulling twenty-seven cars. I'll switch them out later and give the FP7's a run.
