NUTZ! I've got laundry in the dryer and it is squealing again. Fixed it by shifting the load, but that means we may have to buy another dryer! At $1.50 per 10 minutes of dry  time at the laundromat, it will be $7.50/load to dry..at 4 loads a week,,,,{minimal}that's $30 a week or $120 a month to dry our clothes...at that rate in a public facility we'd pay for a dryer in about 4 months...so maybe we work a dryer and it's payment into the credit card now...bummer.We CAN hang our clothes here..BUT and its 2 biggies...one is we DON'T have the in ground "holder' for one, and second here in the park can ONLY be an "umbrella one" well TRY and find one! then dig the hole, pour the cement with the holding pipe in it and see what that all means...dunno...

My parents old dryer worked great for twenty years then started that squealing routine. I believe it was caused by the wear and tear on some kind of blocks the drum rides on. If I remember correctly they were ceramic. They had those replaced and the dryer worked well for another ten years. It cost a whole lot less than another dryer, even a used one.

Boy. the rain is coming down here! I can barely see the other side of the road and it's less than a hundred feet away. My neighbor across the road is probably trying to surf the net on his satellite setup. I wonder how many times he's been blacked out.

Has anybody seen an hour? I seemed to have lost one.

By jove! So have I! Now where could that varmint have sneaked off to?

By JOVE? wall, I'll be jiggered ! So did I, but can't tell it lately. Have only been sleeping about 45-1 hour, then up at least a half hour if not an hour!

When the equinoxes approach, about a month out, I start having sleep problems big time! Never fails! so I expect it. Since it is the 20 th of March, at 7:02 AM this year, I am doomed to a lot of sleeplessness. I can tell when the seasons change just like I can tell when we are tgo get bad weather by my bones achin'!

Speaking of Spring...I can't wait, I have had enough of winter already. And March always one last big hurrah for us..still yet to come.  Of course around these parts, soring don't actually come til May!

ALl the Maple festivals are lining up to fleece you of your money around here. Any thing that ain't free, including the gas to get there, though , we won;t be goin' to.

We need a genie in a bottle or a lamp or a magic faerie to come help us...

MAYBE I can get through the 4 loads today with the dryer! Hope and pray so! Of course according to the Sunday paper {at $3 a pop a week, I think it will have to go too} a local establishment is having a trade in sale TODAY AND TOMORROW ONLY! $40 bucks for a dryer trade in...big whoop..now if we can find one for $400 or less...maybe we can. Maybe we go LOOK and see what they have,,, they only advertise the expensive ones! Maybe we go to the scratch/dent/discontinued store and see what they have there...I don't care as long as it dries clothes!!!

Well, enough of all that...{grumble}

By JOVE have a JIGGERED good day...

Jeff and Vincent ....... You can search "2-56 screws" on Ebay and get reasonable prices for large quantities. How about 10,000 screws? ... Actually, I think you will find 100 or 250 screws at reasonable prices.

Now why the heck didn't I think of that?! As often as I buy stuff on Ebay that should have been obvious.

Jeff, you don't have an Ace hardware nearby do you? I go there and can get 2-56 screws for a few cents each. I've also bought a 2-56 bit from them before.

I wish! We sure need one. Nearest one is in Alexandria, a 120 mile round trip. My old van is good for short hops. It eats my lunch on long drives. At 12 mpg (on a good day) the gas alone would be almost $40. That's a huge amount of money for someone in my financial situation. One guy one time suggested I buy a small car that gets high gas mileage. With what? My looks? Around here cars that get good gas mileage have high prices attached. Even old ones. I went into debt buying the dinosaur I have.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good morning. It's 63° with 100% humidity. Numerous showers and thunderstorms.

Looks like it's going to be a wet one today. Thunderstorms are expected all day with heavy rain and high wind gusts.

I'm not really sure what I'll be doing today. I finally got to sleep late last night then woke up in the middle of a sugar crash about 3:15 and I've been up ever since. Needless to say I'm tired and don't really feel like doing anything. In fact you could say I feel like crap. I burned up a 5/64" metal cutting drill bit yesterday when I was working on a Mantua gondola so I need to get a replacement for that when I can. I didn't think the metal bottom of those old Mantua cars was that tough. Most plastic cars have a metal plate in them and the bit goes through them like butter. Guess it's time had come. Now you're probably wondering why I'd be using a 5/64" bit as that seems a little big. That's the closest I have to the size screw I use to secure my Kadee 242 coupler boxes. There's nowhere in this area to get 2-56 screws so I use 2x3/8 slotted brass wood screws. It fits and does the job I need it to do and I can get them right in town. If it's too long I can cut off the excess.

It seems that my internet problem has vanished. No more IP dropouts. Looks like it was the modem despite the cable company's assertions that it MUST be something in my cable in the trailer. But when you go through and replace every bit of cable with new and have everything out to the main pole replaced and the problem remains there's only one thing it can be. It looks like I have that bug out of my hair.

Good Morning!

Flo, it´s Sunday, so I go for a big Sunday breakfast. That´s bacon and scrambled eggs, buttered toast, sausages, jelly, a tall glass of OJ, and lots of dark roast coffee, please.

Well, we did not get the predicted 10" of that wet white stuff, but it is a good 5". Never had sn*w that late in the year! There is more coming down right. If those folks with the crystal ball are right, it´ll last until Easter - yucch!

There is only a short HD list to work down today, although there is a backlog of chores due to our involvement in my parents´ move. Going to take it lightly. Spring cleaning has been postponed, which gives me a break Smile, Wink & Grin

No plans for the day. we don´t have a car available, so we will stay inside. Not nice enough for a walk, anyway.

Have a good one!

Well it's been a long day. I had a rotten nights sleep, only four hours. The burning joints are still with me though it seems to be subsiding. I ripped the truck mounted horn-hooks off eight freight cars today (OK, seven cars and a caboose but who's counting) and replaced them with body mounted Kadee 148's in #242 draft gear boxes. One, a shiny white Bachmann tank car that looks like a refugee from the 80's has a frame that's so warped on one end it took an additional 242 box as a spacer to get the coupler at the proper height. Depending on it's performance I might pull the couplers on that one. The cars are a fair mix Lionel/Revell, AHM/Roco, Bachmann and Mantua. And the Santa Fe caboose is Mantua. Photobucket seems to be down so I can't upload any photos. I'm sure there are some out there hooting and hollering in glee at the thought of me not being able to upload photos but if that's what makes them happy..., so be it. OK, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Work Front Well Tyler (manager) either is losing it from working to much, or he thinks being a Richard Head (Can I say that Jeffery) makes him a better boss? MOH can file a fair hearing, but it is still considered "willful Misconduct" that got MOH fired for punching in early by 1 minute from lunch. And MOH had been warned and written up so they won;t give unenjoyment for getting fired for "willful misconduct". Of course the employer is claiming NO wasn't;t asked to punch in early, and actually wasn't;t asked to but was  harassed into "getting back on the clock". They claim no of course.

Galaxy, tell her to fight it! I went thought the same thing when I was wrongfully let go from Mattress Giant a few years ago. (all so got a settlement from a class action suite later)  If NY laws are anything thing like Ill law it must be a willful Misconduct, it is hard to believe a live Judge would think miss punching was a willful act! If she made $20.00 a hour, one minute would only gain her 33 cents? Whistling Yea, there is a reason to chances of getting canned.

In my case, it did take 12 weeks to win the case. But the $3500.00 received made it worth the effort!

Gary Glad you like the pictures! Big Smile

 Best wish for Sallie

 Later, Ken

Hi!

Dr Pepper and a catfish sandwich with onion rings please. Thank you.

Well......Sigh, I knew it. Lot's more than just taking up the carpet. Fixing floors and removing a heating duct that no longer is used, but is one of those old iron floor grates about 2'X2'. Last one there was as they covered the ones in the sanctuary bout 15-20 years ago when they put the carpet down. Aaaanyway, that took until 3pm, then I went down and started w**king on the uptown....Yes Garry UPtown. It's Uptown for a town that has a small uptown. It's DOWNtown for a city that has a big downtownGeeked. See how that works? Not my rule, I just live by it. Kinda like calling trout or catfish seafood. But I digress, started w**king on the floor for the tiny restaurant on the corner of the buildings' floor. Had this bright idea it'd be tile since I have some 12"x12" tile sheetBang Head. Now I thought, gee, it'd probably be black and white staggered tile, so I commenced doing that. after several rows of trying to paint every other tile blackBang Head. I realized soon, this is not the best methodGrumpy. I should use a black sharpie. Brilliant! Why didn't I think of the obvious sooner. Saves scraping the bazillion oopsies. So I went upstairs to get it and....Sigh...dried up. Oh well, going to Walmart tomorrow.

Paul- Enjoy the weekend. I know what you mean by the well meaning. Sometimes it is best just to be left alone.

Galaxy- Sorry to hear about the unenjoyment. I kinds figured it would turn out that way. I doubted the place would say, 'Oh yes we pressured her into clocking in early". I guess there has to be something in place to keep people from doing things to get fired and then collecting. Unfortunately it w**ks both ways. To bad. I hope something comes around for her soon.

Best figure out what we're having for supper. Trip to the store was postponed until tomorrow due to unexpected last minute duties today. Probably just have sandwiches or maybe go to the Huddlehouse across the highway. Don't feel like going into town.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe just a cup of hot chocolate right at the moment, please.

Got home from RIT a while ago.  That is where the Rules Training for train crew at the museums was held.  It actually is for both museums and includes Trains, Track Cars, and Trolleys.  A lot is the same material.  I got 94% correct on the test.  Would have been higher, but one of the questions was dealt with when we were on break (the actual new name of the railroad connecting the two museums is now called "The Museum Railroad...).  Another was a "Duh" moment as I knew old rule "M" is now Rule 97!  The other question I got half of it right and got only one poinbt taken off.  It was 40 questions each worth 2.5 points.  I debated staying for the classroom part of the Air Brakes and Handling class, but decided I needed to get home to check on the Boys...  (Blackie and Manéy)

Ulrich, glad things are going well with the move.  Every day they find it good will be closer to them "having lived there forever...".  Take a well deserved rest from it!

Galaxy, sorry to hear your wife lost the appeal!

Garry.....  Hmmmm?  I think the cost of a two week stay down there with all the travel expenses and hiring a pet sitter for the cats would probably cancel out the difference in cost... Whistling  Besides I want a porcelain fused to noble metal one not something whittled by one of the guys out in the hills....Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh  The price I mentioned was for both the crown and a large filling on another tooth.

I think I shall go find a quiet place to take a nap.... Maybe in the back booth.  If I shut the hearing aids off I might not notice the noise Duke is making with that chain saw.....Whistling

Well,

finally the dirty nasty letter form Dept. of Labor arrived today and MOH LOST the case. SO we now have to pay back everything unenjoyment gave us. We had to spend a portion of it so I have to juggle things to put the money back into the account they put it in as they will probably seize it back, IF they haven't already, incurring us a negative balance fee from the bank! You just watch them do it!

I got the notice for medicaid it stays the low spend down with no other income, though with unenjoyment i expected it to go up. Next year it goes by taxes, so who knows?. Obamacare is all I'll say, it may help or hinder us.

Haven't gotten notice on Food Stamps, but now Monday morning I have to call them and tell them the unenjoyment is no longer in the picture!

NOW you see why we calle in UNENJOYMENNT???

MOH can file a fair hearing, but it is still considered "willful Misconduct" that got MOH fired for punching in early by 1 minute from lunch. And MOH had been warned and written up so they won;t give unenjoyment for getting fired for "willful misconduct". Of course the employer is claiming NO wasn't;t asked to punch in early, and actually wasn't;t asked to but was  harassed into "getting back on the clock". They claim no of course.

Ah well, we are having dinner with good long time friends but we have to spend gas to get out there..about a 1/4 of a tank won't be easy. I am only budgeted for ONE tank of gas A MONTH.

well, should get ready to go.

Things just keep going from bad to worse for us Sad

Sigh

Jeff, Do you have any athearn hex-motors that'd work in an RTR SD40-2? I have a spare athearn motor, but I just can't get the flywheels off of the bad one to put on my spare for the ATSF SD40-2...

Sorry. Don't have hex-drive motors. My last one is in a C420.

Afternoon guys

Got to go to the train club again this morning. I got my SW10 and SW15 programmed to be happy together, even though they have totally different decoders (Soundtraxx non-sound and a TCS T4). Once I figured out the one trick to adjust soundtraxx in decoderpro, I was suprised at which loco actually started out first. The soundtraxx started out way slower than the TCS, and it didn't take off like a rocket... I'm still gonna put in a Loksound in one of them, the Tsunami sounds like it has too many cylinders (sounds like a 38's V16 or V12, not the 6 or 8 of the SWs....)

Jeff, Do you have any athearn hex-motors that'd work in an RTR SD40-2? I have a spare athearn motor, but I just can't get the flywheels off of the bad one to put on my spare for the ATSF SD40-2...

BTW, on the bachmann decoder, I took one out of an FT and put in an MRC sound out of a Genesis. Whole loco set me back about 45 bucks, sold it for close to 80. I used the bachmann decoder in my athearn rotarty plow to turn the blades. I'm thinking of selling the plow now though.

Gonna go clean up my car to go see my friend. Unfortunately she said she'd be going back tomorrow, so it'd be a while till we meet again.

  Morning All,

Well I am taking a weekend for myself and not making plans at all.

I realized that I have been on the go non-stop since July 12 2012, the day the ambulance took my wife to the hospital. She was home for about a week and then back to the hospital, and never came home. Many family and friends have been trying to make sure I am OK, and I appreciate that, but I just need some down time, and this weekend is it.

I will most likely work on the layout, but I am not really planning anything.

    Prayers to all in need.

Good morning, everyone.  .... The Diner has been busy, and I'm glad for that.

Jerry ...... I like the circus train cars and your layout. We diners are very concerned about Sallie. Praying for her health.

Ken ...... You keep posting interesting photos. I'll comment about one of them. It's the photo with the Canadian National streamlined 4-8-4. I have been at that location many times. It's Durand, MI on the Grand Trunk Western, and it is a hub on the GTW map. The big old station still exists. The 4-8-4 is westbound on the main line (CN-GTW) from Toronto to Chicago.  It entered the US at Port Huron, MI and passed through Flint. The 4-8-4 will pass through Lansing, Battle Creek, and South Bend on its way to Chicago. GTW had similar 4-8-4's. The track coming from the right is from Detroit and Pontiac, and it either curves toward Chicago or goes through the diamond. From there a track went north to Saginaw or west to Grand Rapids and beyond to the Milwaukee car ferry across Lake Michigan. . In the middle of all of the tracks is a track belonging to the Ann Arbor Railroad which went from Toledo and Ann Arbor to a Lake Michigan car ferry. ...... Se what you started by posting that photo.

Ray ...... You were busier than what? LOL ..... Also, that crown was expensive. Next time come to KY, and you can save 100's of $'s for a crown.

JR ..... Did you accomplish what you wanted with the tools?

Todd .... Well. Was it Uptown or Downtown?

Bama .... It's great to hear you enjoy your work! ..... Reminds me of my Dad's advice to me as I grew up, and it was to do something I liked.. .... Hope you keep posting the happy stuff.

CN Charlie ...... Glad you posted. Must me challenging doing both N scale and HO.

John Boy ........ You can keep the snow.

Karl ..... Honeydos? .... Uh oh. ..... I know what that means. So does Todd.

Shhhhh ...... Quiet everybody. You might awaken Duke!

Good Morning!!!

Just coffee please. Oh and could you make it to go? Thank you.

Haven’t checked the weather so….IIRC, it’s supposed to be high 40’s. Drizzling rain right now.

Glad things are going well for Ulrich’s parents. I hope it stays that way.

Jerry- Sally is in my prayers. You too.

Welp gotta blast outta here.  Got a call, they’re pulling up the carpet in the Sanctuary today at 10…Whistling. I guess this means the painting is done and the lights have been hung. Shouldn’t take that long. Ya right!!

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Morning All,

Not much happening this way. Will probably go to the club later for a bit. Go back to w**k tomorrow so the 1 hour less sleep will make me tireder than normal on the first day.

Next Wednesday is MOH's birthday, and next Friday (weather permitting) I am driving up to Gainesville to watch NHRA qualifying for the Gator Nationals. I am supposed to meet a friend that will already be there.

Ulrich- I'm glad tings are working out for you finally.

Galaxy- Thanks for the heads up, I had forgot about the time change.

Hope everybody has a good day and prayers for those in need.

Jeffrey. How you can continue to deal with Suddenlink without unleashing the indian temper is beyond me. Writing your own driver went out with the Vic 20. In todays world, its inexcusable.

Oh I didn't say they didn't see my mean side. Just things like that aren't allowed here. But writing the driver had nothing to do with anything on the modem. It was to get the LAN port on MY computer working. I hadn't used a LAN modem since maybe 2004? So there was no need for the computers LAN port to be enabled. I had put the drivers disk away and forgot where I put it. I think everybody here has done that at least once. Still it was somewhat refreshing to go back to old school solutions and I realized how much I'd forgotten about writing programs.

Karl - I just phoned my Mom. The two had taken a nap, and she sounded a little drowsy, but comfortable. Good! A big load is now off my shoulders.

Temps have dropped and it is:

Yesterday morning I filled out an app for a local parts supplier, 4:45 yesterday they called me. The interview is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday. On the surface is sounds sweet, can't wait to see the details!Hmm

Ulrich, Looks like a nice place for your parents. I'm just hoping now that you don't get a call one night because Mom has been playing on the sliding board and refuses to come inside for the night! Smile, Wink & Grin Or worse! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvxZcULxfKw Laugh

Bama Yeah, we can tell where you slept, by the row of rivets pressed into the side of your face!!Smile, Wink & Grin
