Evenin' folks!
Janie, just my decaf please...
Been a busy day, but a good one. Drove out to the Boy Scout camp where I met with the director of the Rotary Handicapped Camp about the sound system and we agreed on what was the most likely thing to do first and how to start the ball rolling to accomplish it. I will be setting up a visit from a company I recommended to get a recommendation for new outside speakers. Another Scout Volunteer will be contacted about finally getting communications in some if not all the campsites and program areas.
By the time I got back home I was chilled to the bone, so I lit the wood stove.... Got some more scenery done this evening too.
Got an email from my son in Chicago telling all about the Presidents visit to Argonne National Labs yesterday. He and his team worked 10 days straight 10 to 12 hours a day to get everything ready for the visit. He said he was "honored to be asked to attend the President's private tour of the Center for Transportation Facility, leading the press pool. When we got the signal, we were allowed to enter the facility and there the President was, about 10 feet from me, speaking with our researchers........ " He said he was only manhandled once by a very scary looking Secret Service agent (for standing in the wrong place); she was quite strong! My son Matt spent about an hour talking to the press as the spokesman for the National Lab right after the tour.
He said the best part of the day was after the Presidents address, he and 3 colleagues who worked on the event were pulled into a room, presumably to talk about taking down the stage, getting the media back on the tour buses, etc. They waited a few minutes, when suddenly President Obama walked in! He came by to thank them for their efforts and to shake their hands. They posed for a photo, then he departed in his motorcade, back to the Helicopter, and to Air Force One. Matt was blown away by the fact he took the time to meet with him and the others! He is exhausted but proud!
Needless to say His Dad is proud of him!
OK, sorry for bragging...
Anyone heard anything from Ulrich? Do hope he is OK!
Prayers for all!

Evening Folks
Flo, Beer's!
I wonder how much Old Man Harris from Pawn Stars would give me for all my train stuff? Personally I think Chochowillie (Dennis) is the guy from Pawn Stars.
PackerWell I went to the train club and I think today Murphy had it out for me
No Vince's my friend he is camped at my house again!
Hard day at work today and looked forward to some train time, not going to happen!
1 Lost control of my Monon B unit, stuck at lighting speed. Try resetting the decoder, no go. So I got out a new Digitrax DH 123 that I bought for the new engines. Load the save program of CV's with decoder pro. Speed match was no where close? Looked at the messed up decoder, it is a NCE. Funny decoder pro can read the CV's but not change or reset the decoder.
2 OK, one PK F3A can pull this train, but they look funny to be with out a B unit. Got a dummy and threw on the matching B unit shell. The Dummy derailed on every turnout it hit? But, tracks just fine on the A line?
3 OK, I will just run the A unit! Nope, it is not going to happen! Seems I may have lost power pick up from the rear truck. When the F3 hit's one spot on the layout it stalls. Guess the B unit was pushing it though so there was no stall.
4 OK, I will use the MRC Santa Fe F7's! Hum, not happening? For some reason they started picking like Roy Clark! I am trying to run the above trains on my K-10 Mining loop that is also my test track lop. They ran just fine there when I was speed matching them?
5 OK lets get the A line running! Want to take a guess? Yep the PK GP 20 is back to it evil tricks and won't move! The Bachmann GP 30 cannot drag the freight by it self and I am to tired to mess with it now!
Well the B line is up and running, so that is something! Funny last night I sat in the layout (It is G shaped) for a hour and enjoyed my little Empire! Tonight?
Vince's I way things are going tonight, no way am I touching the SD 9! Besides one of the thing I hated about my SD 7 was the poor headlights! So I am going to install a LED before I run it. Weren't you going to do that for me? No big deal at this point, simple to do. By the way I have a box to ship the grab irons in and will ship on my next day off.
Later Folks, got to beat some engines.

Johnboy .... The Giant Dog is a mixed breed. Part Great Dane where he gets his size and part Pit Bull where he gets his muscular build. The fence is a 5' wood privacy fence. He jumps up and hooks his front paws on the top. then he just pulls up an over. It takes only a couple of seconds. ..... They acquired the dog from a Humane Society rescue center. They got him after a very bad experience. One afternoon, our daugher-in-law came home with our 2 granddaughters. There was an intruder in the house. It was a nightmare for them. Police came and took care of things. Now they have the big dog, one regular size dog, and an alarm system. The Big Dog has mostly black fur and is very protective.
Cdn Dennis ..... Sounds like a real adventure with furniture. Stuff like that makes us wonder.
If you are interested in how I made this tunnel liner, I explained it in the tunnel liner thred currently in the Forum.

Howdy all, a dull sn*wing cold bla day here in "Sunny Alberta". What happened today...
Furniture delivery this AM, 9 AM sharp, 3 of 4 dining room chairs arrived - 4th one had to be re-orderd because 4th one was damaged. They set up the new table, wife looked at it and it was damaged as well. Now it has to be re-orded as well It's no wonder this stuff costs an arm and a leg if they have to supply two of everything to get one good set.. Sheesh. What a way to start the day.
Spent most of the rest of the day in the RR room, getting a variety of things worked on. Seems my attention span is short so I work a little here and a little there.
Here is an attempt to make a short video. Nothing special just a little different for me

GARRY, But it would keep my miniature Dachshund contained height wise, but the little bugger would probably go under it. Lol. What kind of a dog is in Cinnci?
Must go outside right now and shovel out the deck and dog pen although I don't know why ??? We are expecting another 15-16cms tonight, for you Yanks that is another 6-7 inches of that white stuff. This will set a record for us in all recorded time for snow depth in one season. Everyone is praying that we have a real drawn out spring, because if we don't there will be major flooding again this year, worse than 2011. I hope our friends in Minot ND. and Winnipeg are prepared for it. There will be a lot of land that the farmers probably won't get on this year as some land from 2011 is still soggy to the point you can boat on it.
Anyone heard from Ulrich ? Sure hope no news is good news.
I see Fergie on some of the other threads, but he hasn't visited the Ol" Diner in a very long time.
Good to hear that Ray is driving for free !!! Just how much did that Prius cost him ?? He could have just put an electric motor in his old Dakota and bought a long extension cord and ran it off the solar panels. Just joshing Ray. Hope you have good luck with it.
Will check back later. Prayers and blessings to all in need. There is sure a bunch of us in that area.

Howdy ..... Just checking in. Returned from Cincinnati about midnight last night.
Son and Daughter-in-law in Cincy spent big bucks getting a five foot high fence installed to keep their giant dog confined in the back yard. Guess what. Giant Dog goes over the five foot fence with ease. He's some dog.
Still haven't read everybody's posts. I'll catch up later.
Cheers!
PackerTurns out between Tuesday and today, someone took the horns off of 2 of my units I keep at the club. The holes are still there, so they didn't break off. Also the wind deflectors on one of my engines was smashed in. Lucky it's metal so I was able to fix it.

I worked on the FP7 some more and found why it was buzzing like the barbers clippers. There's a plastic piece that fits on top of the chassis. It covers the motor, flywheel and shafts and is also handy for laying the wires and decoder on. The front drive shaft U-joint was just touching this piece and that was causing the buzzing sound. I cut a small piece out of the plastic cover so the U-joint was free and clear. This thirty-plus year old Atlas/Roco FP7 now runs as smooth and quiet as my new E-R Models FP7. Murphy has been sent begging once again.
Packer Well I went to the train club and I think today murphy had it out for me... Turns out between Tuesday and today, someone took the horns off of 2 of my units I keep at the club. The holes are still there, so they didn't break off. Also the wind deflectors on one of my engines was smashed in. Lucky it's metal so I was able to fix it. All my modified BB 85' flats decided to be a PITA, looks like I need to use a narrower truck than the athearn to clear the sill. I think the ones they used on newer cars or the MDC ones would work well. My walther's 89' channel side was also a PITA, needs 28" wheels to lower the coupler height as it seems to have warped. My GP15-1s headlights are acting up. One was abnormally bright, the other dim, and the gyralight is dim... The abnormally bright one burnt out... Luckily I figured how to the the shell off of the thing... So maybe next weekend when I'm in Pensacola I can swing my the West Florida Train museum. They have a lot of detail parts, so they may have some Leslie-3 chimes (RS-3L) and firecracker antennaes. Gary, I was painting on top of black plastic. I did several light coats. It's lighter than everything else I've seen... Ken, good to see it's working now. Those old P2K can run really well. Now what about the SD9?

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
You too Curt!
well the crew of BN #738 is gonna have some explaining to do, unfortunately they are out side of Essex and pretty far away from help. watch?v=i9fNmG28Tsg
Afternoon All,
Sitting here at home by myself. MOH is in Lakeland at a quilt show and my son is at the county convention center for Mega-Con. Shortly I will go to the train club. I go back to w**k tomorrow. It is supposed to be 84 F by Tuesday. This week I am also w**king on Thursday for a time trade someone asked me to do.

Hey guys, I was playing microsoft train sim. last night. I was running an unusual train, a BN covered wagon and an SD40-2. well I got stuck, I'm uploading the video right now. let's just say autoracks aren't my friend.
Cederstrand***Jeffrey, next time I'm in the BIG town will definitely pick some up. Question, since I prefer not to solder (terrible at it), would adding a second section of feeder track to the program track and then just attaching the ends of the resistors to the two connecting screws work OK?
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a nice bikg bowl of hot oatmeal with brown sugar and lots of dark roast coffee for my R&GV RR mug.
TMarshRay- If I had one of those cars, I would be doing the same thing. I remember when I got my first car that read out the fuel mileage. Played with that thing for the longest time.
It is fun too! I forget who mentioned that I had a new toy yesterday... Absolutely! Today I plan to steal some electricity from the Boy Scout Camp when I go out there (at least 25¢ worth...). I will ask the ranger before I plug in though.
Have a meeting this afternoon about the old sound system out at Boy Scout Camp. Would be nice to get an upgrade for the speakers on the roof and a couple things on the inside if possible.
Catch you all later!
Italian Roast coffee in a SOUTHERN mug, please.

Today……ummmmm. Today I’m gon…….nuh….. hm. Welp, don’t know what I’m gonna do, It'll morn-likely involve the grocery store, eating out, and some odds and ends. Hopefully this will be a MR weekend as well.
Highs today about 49….ish. Ohhhh, let’s just say 50. I mean it sounds better and really, do you think you could tell one degree if you didn’t have a thermometer? I think not. I guess it sounds good for the weather guessers to pretend they can predict the weather to within 1 degree. I know I’m impressed I love it when the forecast sounds like this….(ahem) “Well the high today will only be 49, getting down to 34 tonight. Tomorrow we’re going to cool off a little bit with the high of only 47 maaaaaybe 48, but Monday we’ll break that 50 mark with a high of 51! Ah Spring like temperatures are coming at last folks.”

Good morning. It's 55° with 100% humidity. The high will be 78°.Today I intend to get some cleaning up down on the layout. Some freight cars that have been converted to Kadee's must be put away so they're not taking up space on the layout. There's also some things that have to be prepped for sending out.

Rob, Radio Shack has them, I think I paid $1.00 for 10 of them.
Packer Evening guys Went out for pizza tonight. THen my sister wanted to go to a place called "yougurt mountain." That place is AWESOME. I had a 50/50 mix of cake batter and cookies and cream, with all sorts of candies and such on top. My calorie count for the day is probably overboard.... Gary, The ones you painted look right. The jar I have looks kinda light, and the one Pollyscale I tried was much lighter than the Front Range centerbeam I was trying to touch-up.

Janie, just a decaf to help me unwind a bit. Thank you Ma'am!
Got a bit of Spring cleaning done today, and spent a good amount of time building stone walls and starting the stacked wooden fence on the layout. A new CO detector I purchased online arrived today so I installed that in my bedroom. Also got my column written for the Division Newsletter and sent to the editor for inclusion.
I see Ulrich hasn't been today, so I have to assume he went to the hospital last night. Do hope he is OK!
Tomorrow I have a meeting out at camp with the Ranger and the Camp Director for the Rotary camp that uses the camp after Boy Scout Camp is done each summer. Rotary is considering upgrading the camp sound system and since I put in and have maintained the old system for close to 20 years, i am glad to turn it over to someone else...
Prayers for all in need!

Work Front I was there, the customers where there and Tyler was nice to me. Pretty much covers work.
GP 20 PK 2000, well it is working great tonight so I not fixing it! Vince's I am using the Digitrax DH 123 that came out of the SD 40-2 I sent you. So far I love the engine!
Bachmann GP 30 Today before work I tore it down and lubed it, it it a test run and still lake a racket. Sound more like a HO Slot Car than a engine.Tested it pulling power and it was lite in the loafers.
The GP 20 had been struggling a little pulling 24 cars, and the Bachmann GP 30 needed some track time.So lashed them up and using decoder pro throttle so I can control each engine with them not being speed matched yet.
Odd thing happened, the Bachmann quieted down a lot! I don't know if it is because it is pulling a load, if the lube soak in or it just likes the GP 20! Maybe it is love! Either way it works for me!
