Jeffery, will stress make your blood sugar higher? Lowest reading I have had in a week has been 146, that not good!

Stress can aggravate diabetes and send it out of control. And you're right about 146 being your lowest not being good. It's considered high even for me. My doctor is happy if I'm below 150. I try to stay between 90 and 130 but it's not always easy. Here's some information about stress and diabetes.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me right now, please.

Managed to get quite a few things on the must do list done today.  I rerouted the drier venting to behind the dryer along the outside wall so it is out of the way.  Got a bit more done on the scenery area.  Put in a culvert under the road next to the tracks and built up the area to match the height of the track crossing.  Did some cleaning down cellar while I was waiting for glue and paint to dry....

Sunday and Monday are supposed to be ones that will have a bit of sun from times to time.  Might yet get more power in February than I did back in November for the month.  Nice to see the amount of power the panels are kicking out coming back up.  Should be great by mid summer!

Gerry, sorry to hear about Sallie's health difficulties.  You will both be in my prayers....

Hope all of you have a safe and pleasant night!

I got the GP40 back together and took it for a test run. No derailments, no hops. The repaired truck is working fine. I did have a couple of hairy minutes earlier when  the glue tried to stick the side of the truck to the frame. The only noise I heard during the test was the squealing and growling of the old motor. Maybe someday I'll shoehorn an Athearn motor into it.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Evening All,

Had Spanish rice with chicken in it for supperDinner.

Drove up to the LHS and talked with Jon for over a hour. He told me that while on vacation I need to visit the Altoona Railroaders Museum..sounds good to me. I will be in the area to see Horse Shoe Curve anyway.

I finished the mine project finally. To me it seemed to take forever. MOH is happy to get the dining room table back. Next week I need to run my CMX cleaning car over everything because of all the construction I have been doing. Next week I also need to rake the leaves up in the yard since the trees are finally green.

Jerry- Sorry to hear about Sallie. You both are in my prayers.

Garry- You are too kind. Thank you.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Evening guys

Eating some home-made chicken something-or-other. It' a few chicken patties cut up and put in tortilla shells with pepper jack and cheddar cheese. very tasty...

I've been working on some locos today. I spent most of the time trying to figure out why 2 engines (P1K F3s) would run on DC, but on DCC they shorted. I took the motors apart and cleaned the goop out of between the commutator contacts and that seems to got rid of it. Although one acts like it has a dead spot in the motor... Weird...

I'll be back in later

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Jerry .... I'm sad to hear about Sallie. Your friends are here and care for you and Sallie.  I like your layout.

Galaxy .... Sorry to hear Mrs. Galaxy is upset about the job loss, but it is understandable she is. Something better will come. Trust the Lord about that.

BN24 .... I would suggest you focus on one scale. My opinion is Z is too small.

I posted my thread with pictures of my CIty of Heartland. Glad to see the posts there, and looks like there are questions.

BN#24: Z scale cars being cheaper? They simply don't use all the material that N does. I don't think that any company makes a Z scale dedicated power pack, or if so, I haven't heard of one. I would just look for one that has a low voltage. Seeing what's available, I may go into Z but stay dedicated to N and Postwar Lionel.

Sheesh, I can hardly see Z scale let alone work with it. Confused

I worked on the broken Atlas truck this morning. I ground off what was left of the retainer tabs that would have held it onto the frame. I left the location rough so that glue can hold to it. I put the truck in place in the GP40 frame then super glued a piece of ns rail to it in the location where one of the retaining tabs were. It's now enough to keep the truck in place. The next item on the list for the GP40 is to replace the motor. The one in it runs but sounds like it's grinding itself to pieces.

Well

Went to wally world to get some pillows we needed, also the covers dna some new pilla cases and a new laundry basket, the old one was duct taped together {as opposed to DUCK tape} in several spots. We needed them badly..

Went to DSS with the paperwork.

Went to get my new CPAP mask.

Went To Casual Male XL to spend some coupons and get some badly needed new clothes that we really can't afford.

So went MOH's first 3 Unenjoyment checks.

MOH still upset and depressed about being fired, but they just wanted to get rid of MOH and others who were "expensive" {not that $2.00 over minimum is "expensive" but It saves them $60. a week without MOH there and a cheapy installed instead}.

Oh well, MOH laundered  all the new bedding stuff, now I am laundering my new duds...does luandry EVER END???

Needless to say, I never got to puting trains away today either...maybe its a SIGN?

BAKLAVA for lunch dessert!!!!!

Have agreat afternoon!

 Morning.

 Flo, Diet Dew Pleases.

Well I called my Bank today First Collinsville Bank for a little help on old statements. Carolin sounded like she was in shock? Asked her what was wrong? She told me the bank had just been robbed! I sure hope all the employees are OK! I have been banking there for 22 years now and know them all by name. My daughter used to work at the bank as a book keeper.

Mornin' everyone,

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes w/ real maple syrup a couple sausage patties, and lots of dark roast coffee please.

Quite dull (as Barry would say) here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  Currently 27°F outside under gloomy skies at the moment.  Every once in a while there is enough brightness to cause some shadows, but they don't last long.

Blackie and Manét are on the couch in the living room giving each other their morning bath...  I've been sitting here at the computer trying to get through some red tape from the E-Z Pass people.  Last month I sent in a request for a "Green" Pass to replace my regular E-Z Pass.  NYS offers a 10% discount for vehicles that get 45 mpg or better to use toll the Thruway and since I drive it out to the Museum all Summer, I figured I can save a few $ by getting one.  After a month, I haven't heard a thing, and I know one guy with a PIP that lives not far from here got his in 2 weeks.  So I called the lady he suggested to see what is going on.  She checked and never got the paperwork for it.  Of course they have you send to a different place than where they actually process the passes...  So she asked if I could fax the required materials to her.  I don't have FAX capabilities here so she said I could email it to her.  Within a minute she had sent me an email, two minutes later I sent her the needed forms....  Hopefully she will be able to get it processed and on its way to me.

Ulrich!  Please know that many of us here are keeping you in our every prayer!

Karl, glad you got the problem with the wood stove fixed.  I like the smell of wood smoke, but, not quite that much...

Lion, lookin' good sir!  (meow)

OK, now to find out why the wood stove hasn't heated up well enough to get the temperature in the office above 66°F...

Later!

 Morning All,

Currently 28 with an expected high of 54 under mostly sunny skies.

The Switch Tender motors were in the mail when I got home last night, but after Skyping with my son, showering, and having something to eat, i di try and install them. Today is a 9 to 5 so I may have some time to install one or two this evening.

Daughters are coming over tomorrow, for some of dads famous ( at least from my kids point of view) meatlof dinner. And then one or the other will give me a haircut..

Karl, glad you fixed the smoky chimney.

Ulrich, hope things get better for you soon after your parents get into the nursing home.

Ken, watch out for that depression, it can be a killer I hear.

     Prayers to all in need.

Jeff- Sounds like your life in some respects, is very similar to mine. Any plans to do something for myself, are thwarted by the inevitable phone call requesting me do something else. I can sit around all day doing nothing, which is rare, and the phone will stay quiet. But, let me decide to use my free time to play and...rrrring!!!  It’s like they are psychic. They know. “oh, he has plans, let’s call him to …..(insert request )”.

You pretty much nailed my typical day! I have no job to go to so I MUST have scads of free time to do the bidding of others. Oh well, I do get some compensation for it. Food, favors, a little money now and then, get them to pay for a model railroad item.

*

Good morning. It's 51° with 92% humidity and there's a slight possibility of rain. The high will be 62°.

Today will involve a little more work on the layout I think. I also intend to look at the broken truck I took out of the FP7 last night. Apart from the broken off retaining tabs there's nothing wrong with it mechanically. Maybe I can drill into what's left of the tabs and glue in something to do the job the tabs did. What do I have to lose? A broken truck? Some time? Hey, free time was made to waste. Besides which, this could be fun.

Why does that look like some forlorn outpost in the middle of nowhere.

Good Morning!!!

Just coffee this morning please, I’ll be heading out to the Huddle House in a bit. Maybe.Hmm Either that or heat up some red beans and rice leftover from last night.

A chance of snow and freezing drizzle before 9am, then a chance of drizzle and snow between 9am and noon. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Currently 33.

Ken- Oddly enough around here they are treating this light blanket as a major sn*w dumping too.  Schools closed, various day care centers closed, and no, there is no real ice threat either. Just on the cars and of course the trees, but not really much on the trees. Strange.

Welp, it sn*wed last night, then turned to sleet. Only about 3” here so no snow blower used as it will be gone, or most by tomorrow, Sunday for sure. In fact it's already starting to melt away. Neighbor shoveled his drive late last night, bout ten, and this morning it looked like it had just dusted snow on his drive. now I looked out and it looks like it had only rained on it. I did shovel a path to Brenda’s car for her and scraped the  ½” ice of the windows, but it already was unattached to the car so was pretty easy.

Don’t know what I’ll do today before w**k, I suppose I’ll try to put down some plaster cloth. I have trouble making the edge look like the edge of a cliff look like the real thing instead of the edge of a piece of wood. Maybe also try to make a concrete tunnel portal look like concrete rather than something painted with aged concrete color. Each is a daunting task for me. I mightt shovel a bit on the drive too....but I doubt it. The drizzle should do a good job of knocking it down a bit. Just depends.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

The woodstove is back to normal now, just the screen at the top was clogged, again! I told the guy who installed it the mesh looked too fine (1/4") and sure enough, it clogged. Hmm 2nd year its done that,,, but I'm just a dumb homeowner, not a professional. What do I know, right? We only need the screen on there to keep critters out during the summer. Why can't it be bigger, ya know, like the neighbors?  Confused

Got stuff to do, just all discombobulated from getting up at 4:30, especially since I went to bed at 12. Huh?

It gotta get better, right?Confused
