Jeffrey_ when we have had trouble wihthte cable...it ALL had to be replaced too...they siad it was that the old cable "wasn't up to new code" or something like that..we didn't care as long as it fixed the problem we were having wiht the cable TV {and internet}. Ao maybe somehting like thta happened with your vcable, or maybe it had stretched to a point where to keep it taut it had to go.

My headache is better, but I am bored not doing uch. Nice to have MOH doing stuff for me, but makes me boreder if possible. My knee is bothering me morte thant than my head rihgt now, but I took a script pill for head.

Well...I have t o figure out diinner...don't know and didn't pull anything. maybe sandwhiches tonight...

Afternoon, Flo! I'll have a pineapple shake, please. Thanks!

Jeff, thank you for posting the photos from your mother's memorial. I sounds like it was lovely, with all the flowers and with your father telling all the stories about your mother. That was neat how they met - very fortunate (for the whole family) that he stopped at the motel on his way heading for home.

Jeremy, I too was looking at an old MR recently - I'd been reading the article(s) about towns & cities and it mentioned that one building had been in a (Sept.?) 1973 MR issue. So, I decided to see if I had that issue (which it luckily turned out that I do). Now, that doesn't mean I want to do like the guy who wrote the article and scratchbuild the building, mind ya...

Garry, your tale about the CFO's ever-expanding use of closets sounds like the ladies' equivalent of how our layouts seem to expand to whatever available space there is...Whistling Oh, I got one of those curly-que lightbulbs for my living room table lamp. It did NOT give off enough light to get through the shade (which was an older lampshade, but...), and I got thinking about the stuff on the package outside which sounded like if the bulb broke, I'd have to call in a Hazmat team for the cleanup... I forget whether I took it back to the store, or gave it to someone else who was more concerned about that climate change than their own health. Smile, Wink & Grin Interesting bus there, for sure...Whistling Is that a passenger-baggage combine type?

Barry, I hope and Angel that you and your cold/bug/whatever will part ways soon(!).Surprise If it's the flu, I know that some people down thisaways have had it for about a full week before they got it to move on.

Ray, it sounds like Blackie was just adjusting to the taste of those pill pocket muchies. Now that he like them, should go well getting his medicine in him. Thumbs Up Your vet didn't give you the wrong pill (like say, for a horse?), did he/she? Wink

Ken, great photo of the CP there - of course, between that and Dennis talking about his -35F cold spells up his way (good reason to 'wall' over and insulate THAT window, all righty!), I would almost feel a nip in the air. However, here, we're up to a balmy 42F (and in a car with the sun shining on ya, that feels warmer than the air temp! But Ken, rest up your doggies (feet, not wolfhounds or other furry ones) after that day of almost totally being on 'em.

G. yep, at those prices, I probably wouldn't buy ANY RR book (a tad bit too $TEEP...).Surprise Some Amazon book prices (particularly the out-of-print ones) are downright outrageous, to almost robbery. Oops Hope your migraine (and other pain in areas) fades away quickly for you. AngelAngel

Got laundry done this morning, and realized I needed to replace at least a couple of pair of pants I wear for w**k. So after I checked the post office box (no notice on either of two things that should be coming in...  Sigh), I also went by Sears and lucked out. They had two pair of pants like I liked and in my size (my 34 inch inseam is the problem area - if I were shorter, I guess I'd have more choices...). Got those, then stopped by a bookstore (didn't find any I had to have right now) and then KMart to get odds & ends (deodorant, toothpaste, and some goodies to take to a SBowl party tomorrow - chips and a 2 liter bottle of Dr. Pepper. Never can seem to find Pibb, which I'd like better. Anyway, got the errands trip done and back home.

Hmm, I feel like taking a nap...maybe I'll grab a spot in one of the back booths by Duke and the others..Zzz

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

 Afternoon Folks Sigh

 Flo, Beer pleases Sigh

Yep been one of those days. Sigh Today was one of those days if anything went wrong, it was my fault! Sigh So if your car would not start, your credit was stolen, your pet is sick, your house caught fire, your plane crashes, your phone goes out, if your power line fall down, if your tress die, if your stove breaks, your beer is flat, if you hate your job, your train derails or if you where born ugly! Just blame me, it is my fault!

At this point I am 98% sure it was my fault we went into a depression and are heading over the Finical Cliff! Sigh I even bet I caused unemployment to raise .10 of a % last month here is the U.S.! Sigh

Want to guess how my day went at work? Whistling

 Ken

 Yep, that was my fault.

 This as well.

I won't blame you for washington states failure to teach us the math we needed to know to take a college level math class, I didn't even make it three problems before I closed the tab with my math class homework on. I'm shaking because I'm so worked up, I mess with my, model trains but I might break something. I hate fractions, and fractional equations, and every other thing that has to do with my homework. we never learned it so I've essentially wasted $585.65 on a math class that I will never pass, I knew I should've waited until I had done all of my other classes before I even thought about doing math. SoapBox I'm gonna hop off the soap box before I cause any more trouble....

Good afternoon everyone. I had the pleasure of Curt coming to my home to view my pike He is such a gentleman. Didn't even chuckle or sneer when he saw it. Of course , Murphy, the bain of our existence as modelers, made his presence known. Three trains quit running. Oh well! At least the coffee was hot.

We did have a deep discussion about our families. I have a lot of respect for him as a man.   We all know he is a heck of a modeler.

Blessings and Prayers for all.

Family barbecue is over with. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sausage, ribs, potato salad (home made), corn, black-eye peas with jalapenos, three-bean salad, potato chips. The potato chips never got opened for some strange reason. It was a very nice family affair. Entertainment was 50's music from Sirius Satellite Radio. When it was over with the fish got the left overs. Not the chips though. I took my IHC Alco C629 down to show it to my great-nephew. To say he was utterly fascinated is an understatement! His attention was so centered on the loco you could have driven past him in a Sherman tank and he'd have never noticed.

Now I'm back home, gorged and tired. It's been a busy day. One thing I forgot about yesterday. While at the funeral home I dropped my Nikon camera (L20). It was off at the time. The impact broke the locking tab off the battery compartment door. A piece of masking tape made a great redneck style quick repair. Hey, it works. As far as I can tell the camera still performs like it's supposed to.

Jeff: Sounds like you had a great time. If I was around those potato chips wouldn't have lasted long, lol. If I was to have one junk food for the rest of my life it would be chips for sure.ust reading your post I now want a hamburger and a hot dog.

Not much going on here. I picked up the new Mode Railroad Planning magazine. Some great articles which I will read more in depth later. I always enjoy reading the articles on the small switching layouts.

Mint tea, please.

***B.N. Gary, sorry you had a rough go with the math. Try not to hurt your new trains. Those are some wicked old train photos.

***Ken, sounds like you're having way to much fun again!

***Ray, really nice job on the water tower. Fine work there!

***Dennis, hope you got that window covered up. How about pics of the progress in that area? Would be interested in seeing it.

***Jeffrey, sounds like some pretty good eating there. So, have you created a future MRR-er out of your great-nephew?

Question: Any of you have the DCC Walthers turntable and if so, how easy is it to hook up all the feeder/storage/roundhouse tracks? Do you run separate wires to each track in a certain order? Been thinking with a select few (upgraded) locos, might be nice to actually store some of them in one location, perhaps even in a roundhouse.

Had a mix of sleet and rain earlier and there is a winter storm warning up, although I think it is all north of here. Have a worker coming tomorrow morning, so will get caught up on some neglected farm work.

Cheers! CowboyRob

Evening All,

I met Phil at the LHS this morning. I couldn't resist the 2 Accurail X26 boxcars (PRR of course). Phil and I then went to his house. He has a nice double Dog bone layout with enough turnouts to do switching if he so desires. I actually like what he has done and he has done it very well on a very limited budget.

When I got home I filled 8 lawn bags with oak leaves from the front yard so after that I skipped the train club tonight.

Ken- I guess it's your fault Phil's trains were not working correctly Whistling

Garry- That is a interesting bus. It would be interesting to model it.

Ray- Awesome job on that Water Tower.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I'll have the roast chicken platter and a cup of decaf please.  I'll be sitting in the back by the wood stove keeping warm.

Currently 19°F outside with a gentle breeze under cloudy skies here in the Finger Lakes.

So Ken...  How was work?  (Dodges flying objects from across the room!)  That bad, huh?

Gary, don't give up on the math or yourself.  Talk to the Professor, find out what help is available to get you on track with it.  I'd help you but I'm a Music Teacher and we can only count to four....  (That was a joke, BTW.)Whistling

Rob, thank you sir!  In a couple minutes I'm going to spend a few minutes down cellar and get it placed on the Power Plant roof where it will reside.  May have another photo or two later.

Best get moving...  Clock is running and I have to give Blackie his night meds in about a half hour.

Later!

Evening gang! Cowboy

Busy day, Took Dj to work, drove to the Timonium show (only spent 12 bucks), visited Mom in the hospital. She's sitting up and talking, and my sisters are keeping her company. Then an hour drive to pick up the kid, then home.

Local radio station is having fun with the RDS part of their signal. Between song titles it flashed "GO" then "Ravens"

LOL!

Can't say folks around here don't love their football team! Big Smile

Good evening.

Ken ..... Do you mean your day was like this  Super Angry  :

Flip and Curt ...... I'm glad you guys can get together.

JimCG and Curt .... The Great Northern vehicle was called a "bruck" meaning half truck and half bus. Sort of a highway combine. Ity transported passengers and their bags from the trains station on the GN main line to Glacier National Park

BN24-Gary ..... Oh, you are bright person. You can handle the math class. I suggest taking small bites, but doing so very often. Carry some practice problems with you, and stop and do one every once in a while. Spend some time regularly reviewing prior assignments, too. Some math is like building blocks and depends on stuff you already have done. .... Keep telling yourself "I can handle it."

Ray .... I like your water tower. Looks like a prize winner!

Good morning. It's 47°F with 80% humidity. The high will be 68°F with some clouds.

I'll be going to my fathers place in a few hours to help prepare breakfast for the family. So that'll be me, my father, my younger sister and her other half, my older niece and her son and whatever other family members show up.

Not surprisingly no layout work was done yesterday. Maybe I'll have time to do some today. But I wouldn't bet on it.

And if the photo below is any indication the Nikon seems to have survived it's recent trip to the concrete.

 Morning Dinners

Flo, diet dew to go pleases

Well, back to work here is a few. I sure hope today goes better than yesterday. Nothing major happened yesterday, but a lot of small stupid stuff.

Wonder how today is going to go, with it being the Super Bowl I was thinking it was going to be slow. But, we got a fair amount of snow last night, so we might be somewhat busy. Your guess is as good as mine.

 See you later,  Ken

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast buffet and oh, I see you have a donut bar, thank…. Indifferent DONUT BAR!!!!! WOW!!! A DONUT bar!!!!! Oh this place is great!!!!!

Well, came in yesterday, wrote one post and then got sidetracked then never got backEmbarrassed. Came in to the office this morning, computer was sitting here still signed in to the diner. Hm. Feel kinda like Duke sleeping in here all day and night.Zzz

Dennis- Actually I’m about as computer knowledgable as that chair you’re probably sitting in. As for the degree sign, at the “suggestion” of Jeffrey several years ago, I type my postings in Word first, then copy and paste to the forums. In Word they have these Symbols that you click on and “poof”….degree sign. Took me a while to find it though.

Jeffrey- I see you very much in your Mothers picture. I hope you all enjoyed the fond memories of the many ways she touched all of your lives. And HECK NO the chips never got opened! Who cares about chips with all that other delicious food! My gosh I’da shoved em to the side myself headin for something else. Save the chips for bologna

Ray- Shame on you! You need to keep things cleaner around there. Why that water tower is practically brand new and look what’s happened just sitting in your basement. It looks like it’s been around for EVER sitting by some railroad track. Just can’t keep anything new around you can we.

Confused Laugh

Ate at the Huddle House last night myself. Had the visitation of a friend….well more of a little betterna quaintance, ’s Father who passed away. Never met the man myself and neither had Brenda though she had talked to the Mother over the phone about grain dealings yet never actually met her, but I guess he’d been bad for awhile and it was a blessing. Aaaaanyway, stopped at the Huddle House to eat before the ‘70’s party uptown. We didn’t dress the part due to the visitation, though I dress pretty much like I did in the ‘70’s to this day. You know jeans and t-shirts, flannel shirts in the winter. Lot’s of stereotypical ‘70’s attire there. Laugh

Welp I best get a movin,(wish I’d read Jeff’s BBQ post closer to eatin time, got my stomach rumbling some kinda bad now.) not gonna make it to Church. Scratch that, didn’t make it to Church. Brenda’s still doin some housewo*k (Pressing the sheets) but there’s plenty to do like…yes, more laundry. We have to go to the grocery place and then probably we will eat. Not necessarily in that order and then, and THEN, barring any plans to the contrary from you know who……I may get to play with my trainset. Let’s hope.

Ooops, she’s up. Just heard “Missy!.....really?” which means Brenda has opened her eyes and is staring right in the face of a brown Labrador Retriever just an inch or two away trying to share her pillow. Common occurance. Me? I seem to get the dangerous end.

Did you ever notice dogs do not care in what proximity your face is to theirs when they sneeze? She's recieved a couple of wake up blasts over the years too. They don't seem to be appreciated though.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

***Dennis, hope you got that window covered up. How about pics of the progress in that area? Would be interested in seeing it.

Lets just say that I got started on that window project. Got the chloroplast cut to size and then had the bright idea that rather than the outside side being plain old white, it would look nicer if I painted a landscape scene on it. That's what's on today's agenda among some other Honey Do stuff.

I finally sorted out what was going on with my Digitrax Super Empire DCC system. It's working fine now that I defaulted everything to factory settings. Boy, that was a lot of digging around in the manual.

Anyway, it's a beautiful day here in sunny Alberta. 32 F with a small temp increase of about 4 degrees. No darned wind either. All is well!

Oh yes, I am documenting the "Window Project" with pictures and will post when done Big Smile

Have a good one everyone

 Hi Gang,

I guess I'm a little late for lunch, but with all the talk about those famous southern dishes, it has really wet my appetite.

So Chloe, if you please, set me up with some BBQ ribs, home fries a couple of frogs legs some deep fried okra and a double RBF.  thanks much.

Well, I haven't submitted a Sunday History Lesson for quite some time now, but seeing it is Super Bowl Sunday, please let this be my contribution to a great day.

I can't seem to get this to be a link, so if one of our Buddies here could help me out it would be appreciated by this old dog.

Afternoon folks,

Just a cup of hot chocolate please, Chloe...

I made it to church this morning.  Think I should start going more often.  I walked in the door which was opened by one of the ushers whom I have never seen before, and he said "welcome and hope you enjoy worshiping with us this morning...."  I grinned and started to laugh.  I've been a member there for over 30 years now...  In fact this church technically wasn't around back then, it was two separate Presbyterian churches that merged about 24 years ago.  My granddaughters were singing in the little folks choir this morning so I sat way down front (we Presbyterians usually sit in the first available seat in the back of the church) with my DIL.  Son had just gotten home from w*rking all night and has to go back to w*rk right after supper tonight (lots of overtime!) so he decided sleep was more important.  One of the kids in the youth choir, probably 3rd. grade I would guess, adopted me for the rest of the service.  When they got done singing, all the rest of the kids went and sat with their families.  He decided to just sit with me.  He has a beautiful voice and he sang Soprano while I held down the Bass part on the hymns!  Fun!

Ray- Shame on you! You need to keep things cleaner around there. Why that water tower is practically brand new and look what’s happened just sitting in your basement. It looks like it’s been around for EVER sitting by some railroad track. Just can’t keep anything new around you can we.

Well, since it is the original water tower on the roof of the power plant and has been there for about half of its expected life, it should be a bit dirtied up by now....Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Dennis, on the Mac, I do Shift/option/8 all held down at the same time and get °.  I believe the PeeCee has now caught up to where the Mac was back in 1984 and now can do something like that as well.  LOL

I'm gonna go steal one of them donuts still sitting out on the counter...

Later!

Jeff, glad the service for your Mom was good and well attended, speaks very well for the Lady she was.

Thanks. It wasn't overly religious. She wouldn't have liked that. And there was no organ music. She hated the sound of the organ.

Got the breakfast thing taken care of this morning. Had a crowd of eight. I showed my great nephew another one of my locos. An FP7. He was absolutely nuts about it. From there I went grocery shopping. Now I'm home feeling a bit worse for the wear.

Coffee refill, please.

Looks like a perfect fit, Ray. Well done!

Worker just left for the day and was worth every dollar. 4 projects now FINISHED. If he makes it back tomorrow, will put him to work stringing fence. Now I'm entirely spent from working with him much of the time. He's on his own tomorrow.

To tired to test out the new little Bachmann Climax. Really should do so soon and make sure it actually runs.

Cheers! Rob
