Sad news. I posted in recent days about friends of the family in Tennessee. They are a young couple who had a sick child with a large malignant brain tumor. In recent months she became blind because of the tumor. ..... She died this morning. She was only 17 months old.
Ulrich .... I'm sad, too to learn about your family problems. That said, I think you have been blessed with Petra to be with you through thick and thin.

Well my new (to me) Atlas FP7 hasn't come yet. The delivery estimate said between the 19th and 27th. With my luck it'll come on the 28th. Oh well, I have enough to keep me busy.
I`m waiting for a few detail parts to come in for a few projects........hopefully by this Tuesday I`ll have them........then in a few days time (hopefully) they will be off to paint.

True. I doubt Walther's would have any in stock, and they'd probably want about 50-60 for one anyways... I've found out the following about replacing the motor:1. A Kato motor will work with a modified mount and shortened shafts.2. An Atlas motor is esentially the same as what P1K's motor is. But the shafts are a little bit longer, and atlas is out...3.The micro-mark motor appears to match the P1K's dead on. All the dimensions are the same.
It's up to Ken what he wants to do because it's his engine. IMO, getting the micro-mark motor might be a better idea because IDK how well cutting the motor shafts on a kato would be.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

Glued a few window frames in the wall sections of a coaling tower. Think I'll weather them before adding the "glass" behind them.
A pygmy goat died last night. Looked fine, so perhaps old age, ate something it shouldn't have, or who knows what. One less little fracker to worry about getting into trouble. Not to sound mean, but at this point I sure won't miss any that cross-over.

Jeff, What do you cut the shafts with? A dremel with a cut-off disk? The only reason I bring up cutting the shafts on a Kato is because the Kato is about 8 bucks less than the micromark motor. But if the micro-mark one is bought in a pair, the cost is about the same as 2 Katos.

Got a few pictures from PFC Son, it is good to actually SEE him! Haven't heard his voice since Christmas morning. We do stay in touch via Facebook. I don't know how my parents coped when my two older brothers were in Vietnam with only letters and an occassional tape recording.
On the train front it's been mostly relaxing train running. Still seems Mr. Murphy enjoys a visit now and again. I can have a couple frieghts going while I switch Spooner Yard for a few hours with NO problems, then WHAM! Picked switch points, uncouplings, etc etc. Sheesh! At least there's no visitors to chuckle and guffaw!

Evening All,
Back from the club. Just stayed long enough for supper then came home.
Today MOH, Son and me bagged up 18 lawn bags of oak leaves and trimmed trees. Next week I need to cut grass and trim hedges.
Today I received the Atlas Billboard Reefer (green Grand Union) and I really like the looks of it. I will weather it sometime next week.
I go back to w**k tomorrow and temps are supposed to be in 80's all week. So much for winter.
MOH and I set down and figured out our vacation itinerary in May which will include:
Pennsylvania RR museum
Strasburg RR excursion
Steamtown
Altoona RR Museum
Horse Shoe Curve
We will also see friends and family in various locations. Needless to say I will owe MOH big time after that.
Garry- I am very sorry to hear about the death of the child.
Terry in Wisc- You talking about tapes bring's back memories of listening to my Dad on tape when he was fighting in Viet Nam.
Ulrich- I continue to send prayers your way. You are in a incredibly tough position.

Again I am Dead Tired and will talk more about my blood sugar and train motors Sunday. At this point, I think it is stress more than anything. Tyler (Manager) is being a real dick of late and I am his verbal punching bag. He knows he is being a dick when talking to me, and apologized twice today for it. Still does not help while he is being a dick, but he realizes he is being one. About two weeks ago was when the Company started turning the screws on him, that is all so when he started being a dick to me and my blood sugar started going up.
Far as the beer being the problem, well it might be. But, on my last A1C test I was drinking and it came in at a 5.9? Drinking about the same as I am now.
Well I am off Sunday and for most people it would be a special day that comes once a year! Want to guess what day it will be? Personally I just happy to be off regardless of what day it is!

Good evening. Made an unexpected trip to Elmira. Unfortunately, Lantz's wasn't open today, so I went to Hobby Lobby. Got my foot in the door as far as WW2 aircraft models with the purchase of an O scale P-38J Lightning. In case you don't know what one looks like, here is a picture from Fine Art America.

This morning I said I would probably get a phone call before I could do much of anything and that's what happened. My father called wanting me to come help him work on a push lawn mower that hadn't been started in four years. The spark plug was dirty, the magneto was rusty, the carb had water in it, the flywheel brake was locked up and the throttle cable was rusty. It took close to three hours work but we got it running like a champ. After that I just wanted to rest for a while. I came back home and squeezed a Life-Like motor into the Atlas GP40. It now runs a lot better than it did yesterday. No cleanup work on the layout today.It's time for me to call it a night. I've done it again I grabbed the wrong radii of ez track now I have to get another box just so I can have a complete oval, it's 17" radius that should be plenty wide for my passenger trains to look realistic.

Just my thoughts, ideas, opinions and experiences. Others may vary.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Curt Webb MOH and I set down and figured out our vacation itinerary in May which will include: Pennsylvania RR museum Strasburg RR excursion Steamtown Altoona RR Museum Horse Shoe Curve We will also see friends and family in various locations. Needless to say I will owe MOH big time after that.
Curt: keep these things in mind:
1} Steamtown will NOT be running steam in MAy. They are basically down to one running MIKE, and are working on the others. One is down for tear down-inspection and 2 are in the rebuild phase. They only run the MIKE during JULY-AUG.Unless they surprise me and have another up and running, it won't be steam tehy are running.
2} Strasburg- demands a whole day at least- if you arrive a day early or so, you Can "go in" to Strasburg, you just can't ride the trains, unless you pay and shop the trains store the website doesn;t show the model train shop, just the thomas stuff that is in another store}. Consider getting the Rail Baron's pass {i think they may have done away with it,,call and ask- I don't see it on the ticket schedule} which will include one parlor car ride, one NOON SHOP TOUR { WORTH IT} And admission to the RR Museum of PA {do after the Noon SHOP TOUR for a few hours, then ride the free car on the train again. If you arrive the day early, then you Can watch them trade off loading unloading the trains they will be running that day. They close promptly at 5 PM!!! DON"T FORGET TO SHOP the MODEL TRAIN SHOP THERE! {you can get lost like kid in a candy store}.
TO the W of Strasburg about a mile down the road {rt741} and next to the CHOO CHOO BARN is ANOTHER MODEL SHOP worth the look-see!!!{ here is their website, though the website is DISAPPOINTING to say the least..go to the Store it is GREAT! :http://www.etrainshop.com/tek9.asp } {hours can be spent there too}

3} PA RR Museum- about 1/2 a day there, we go in after the noon shop tour at Strasburg across the street. Well worth a look-see...NOTE SINCE WE ARE IN HAWAII THIS MONTH..there ia loco against the far back wall by the heisler and the shay is a HAWAIIAN LOCO saved from scrap!!!
4th} HAVE A GREAT TIME, and yeah, YOU WILL OWE YOH BIG TIME, AND I MEAN BIG TIME...UNLESS you can get her into the trains as well!!! {hopefully she does!!!}

Petra and I are all packed up and ready to go up north. We will start off right after lunch and try to make our way through the snow and the ice we have here. Yes, it is still snowing - no sign of Spring at all!
Yesterday evening, my dear brother must have called my Mom, telling her not to move into the nursing home in any case. She should try to get Dad back into the house. She is all confused now. There is absolutely no way this would work. My Dad needs two skilled people to take care of him 24/7 and that cannot be made available in home care. I just wonder what makes my brother do such nonsense. He also told my Mom I´d help them only to take away his legacy - that´s just BS. I want my parents alive and well and I don´t want no blooming legacy! He must be ill in his mind!
I am just glad Petra is joining me today - I can´t stand anymore of this. I maybe just an inch away from a complete breakdown of all my systems.

Today was supposed to be partly cloudy as of when I went to bed last night. Nothing but thick dark clouds out there and nothing else predicted except sn*w showers later this afternoon.... In fact there some little white flaky thingies floating around out there right now.
Need to go light the wood stove... I am pleased that the little through the wall heater in the living room at the other end of the house has been keeping the house very comfortable in the absence of the main furnace.
I intend to spend most of today in the train rooms....

Question: HCurious, how do you go about (quickly) weathering plastic buildings, both with and without "windows" installed (pre-built structures and kits)? Acrylic washes, chalks, ???
