Ken ....... I've seen that old photo before. Is it in Nashville, TN?

Here are photos I took in downtown Nashville a couple of years ago which could be near where the historic photo was taken.

They keep changing the number of inches of snow we are to expect tomorrow into Saturday.

First it was 3-4", now they said on the local evening news first it was 6-8", then later edition was 8-10".

A National news indicators puts us in the 8-12++ " category!

BOY I hope not!

NOw, IFFEN' y'all don't hear from me, Or RAY, or OTHers in the NY-New England/ NE regions IT MAY be because we have no power!!!

Haven't seen ULRICH in today..what's up I wonder? Hope all is as well as can be.

This weekend, I will definitely be wishing we were back  in Hawaii, where at 3PM HST is is a balmy 81F/27C !!!

So, we shall seee what we shall see, when we shall see it.

Evening All,

Pretty much a lazy day today. Ran to Wally World this morning. Got home just as UPS was delivering the rock faces I had ordered. I painted those so they are ready to go. Now I am waiting on the coal conveyor. I need to build it and figure out how it is going to join up with the mountain and the mine building, then I will start the mountain build. I figure 2-3 more weeks until it is complete.

Saturday I am being forced by higher authority (you guys know what I mean) to go to Disney for several hours    Grumpy. Later I have ops night at the club.

I did a mini ops session on my layout for about a hour. MOH made me up some switching list forms today that I slightly modified from a club member. I really need to use the CMX cleaning car on the track after all the construction, but I am going to wait until the current mountain is done.

Garry- Really nice picture.

Ken- Great historical photo.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Coffee refill, please.

Some terrific layout pics guys, and neat old historical photo, too.YesCool

Lots of errands run, a few left for tomorrow (including making a dentist appointment). Just lit the wood stove and it's time to rest until evening critter rounds. Cold, rainy, raw kind of day here. Can't wait for spring!

 Afternoon Folks

Flo, Diet Dew to go pleases.

Yep, it that time again. W@@K, I hate the short days I am working. Drive 48 miles round trip for 5.5 hours! Bang Head Just glad we are now closing at 8:00 PM and not 9:00 PM.

Train Front, got the MRC F7's back on the rails. Little bit quieter, they sound like a good running BB engine so I can live with that.

Well my calf is not hurting today so off to work I go.

Good Afternoon All,

Dennis that doesn't sound to good out there. Hope Dorner gets cornered without any more lives lost.

Jeremy - the job will take some getting used to time wise. Ja Bears experience is typical - completerevision of your sleep/wake schedule. I also liked the later shifts for the same reason - not too much management under foot.

We are waiting on another storm of thecentury. We can get anything from 4" of s**w to 4'. Wish I could be so non specific on my job estimates. Fudge factor of 11 is ok.

Gotta run soon as I get my coffee.    Catch Ya Later J.R.

Good morning ...... I'll have some Kona coffee please with some macadamia nuts to snack on, please.

Jeff .... Nice tractor. Good to see your Dad looking good. You may recall when I was trying to get your phone number I got his number instead. He was very pleasant and gladly gave me your number. (I've lost both numbers now)

Ray .... Sounds like a lot of snow. Galaxy, JR, and Dick will probably have some, too. (Speaking of Dick, I've not seen him in the Diner lately. Another MIA.). How well does your car handle snow and cold weather. A friend of mine was driving a Tesla electric car in winter weather and wishes he had not done so. It needed a tow truck.

Jeremy ..... I'm sorry if work did not go well. Hope it imporves.

Here's a photo for some of you who like steam.

Well

I went grocery shopping for a few items and to wally world. Between my back, knee and hip I came home in agony.

Fortunately my next injection session is next Tuesday for the steroid injections for my back. I cannot Wait.

Stomach/intestines feeling better, but still "restless".

We are only expecting 3-4 inches of snow, so no need to worry for us,. RAY.

Filling out gov't paperwork for renewals  and anews. Goody.

Sent in new lease for lot.

sent my friend some papers he asked us to print off since his printer isn't working.

Postal service to drop Saturday delivery? all that means is a back-up of mail to be delivered on Mondays! I rely on the postal service, and like to keep people in jobs for processing my payments of bills, etc.!!! all we need in a bad economy is MORE jobs lost.

MOH is nervous...had a stop-loss meeting about loss of job, and MAY get reinstated, but has to Wait til Monday to find out! DOesn't isn't not sure if MOH wants job back?

Well. as sore as I am, I'd better resst.

Making copies of all your documents is a pain in the posterior region of the gluteous maximus! Fortunately we have a scanner/copier/fax/printer all-in-one for the job.

Well, I HOPE ULRICH is making out alright with the parents! A special prayer candle is lit for them!!!

well, I go rest now.

It is 68F, 20C in Oahu, Hawaii at a 1/4 to 7 am!!! MAYBE someday I will be there...I will return!!! I have faith!!!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of pineapple pancakes with real maple syrup to start today.  Oh, yes, my usual dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug as well....  Thank you Ma'am!

It is a chilly 23°F outside (actually about normal for this time of year) with a high of 27°F later this afternoon.  The Winter Storm Watch is now changed to a warning.  Storm is predicted to start late tonight and continue through Saturday morning.  Prediction has deteriorated to:

"ACCUMULATIONS... SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATING 4 TO 8 INCHES. ICE ACCUMULATING LESS THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OVERNIGHT AND LESS THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH FRIDAY... LEADING TO STORM TOTALS OF UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN INCH."

The sn*w is no problem, but the ice is not a good thing...  Hopefully it will mostly be just heavy wet sn*w.  I have petroleum distillate for the old huff and putt sn*w removal contraption.  Have some salt for the ice.

All you of you in the North east US, stay warm and safe!

Later!

Good morning. It's 58° with 97% humidity and patchy fog. It'll be cloudy with a high of 72°.

Not a lot on my schedule today unless somebody changes it. The layout is in dire need of a cleanup but I just haven't gotten to it.

I've figured out all the little things on the new video camera. I have video resolution set 720p (1080p is max, QVGA is min) and still photo resolution is set 5 mp (8 mp is max, QVGA is min). It weighs 3.4 ounces, records to an SD card (up to 32 gb), it has macro mode, lens aperture - F/2.8. The zoom is 4.0x digital zoom. The internal software though is pretty lame and the buttons are hard to use. Y\I have to be really careful with them. Some joker decided it should be blue (purple passion but looks blue to me) with gray characters. Both colors that I have trouble seeing. The AV interface is composite audio/video and HDMI. The unit is about as big as a deck of playing cards.

Morning All,

Have some errands to run today. Tomorrow I am teaching CPR all day (0830-1800) since I had the truck problems last week.

I have 1 more week then my w**k schedule changes to Sun, Mon, Tues and with a different partner.

Jeff- Nice video.

Galaxy- When I was stationed in HI our house was about 20 minutes from Wahiawa. I used to live in Makakilo but believe the name has since been changed to Kapolei.

I think I will run trains for awhile today since I don't have much to do.

Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.

Good Morning from the U. S.!!! Oh wait, Australia is a continent, Good Morning from America!!! Or did he mean…it as a country…., or…Tongue Tied.never mind. I’ll figure that out later.

Howahya, howahya, howahya! (Cotton pickin Ray put that in my head from yesterday…Mischief.blame him.)

Dr Pepper and a sweet Italian sausage sandwich with green peppers and onions covered in melted mozzarella cheese, and some potato chips please, thanks.

Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 51.  Chance of precipitation is 80%. Oh I hope so. Maybe I’ll wash the truck just to help push it along. Yah, think I will.

Jeffrey- Nice looking mower. Hope it serves as well as the Peerless. Camera works great too!!

Ray- Bring the shovel in with you. On second thought, bring the snowblower in and you can just chew your way out.

Welp today....Hmm Huh?...you know I'm just not gonna say. Nothing works out as planned anyway except to go to w**k this evening. Yesterday I went to the Chinese Buffet when I wanted to go to Sonic for the foot long Hot Dogs and Tots thing, and the trip to Sam's club went ok until I got to the checkout to find that Brenda, the purveyor of misinformation, had written the wrong PIN for the debit card for the Foundation. So that prompted a phone call to her. Starting to think she is a bit dislexic. Is it possible to be partly dislexic? Like only when you write numbers? She can read them as written, but if she writes them down, she gets them mixed up. Not all the time either. Just sometimes. Mainly when she writes them down for meHmm.    Aaaanyway...., after that and a trip to Walmart WHERE by the way, I found soda $2 a case cheaper than Sam's, it was right up against supper time and I had a Church meeting so....once again, NOTHING got done here.....nothing. So today, I plan nothing and should not be disappointed.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

JeremyB

Any tips and well wishes would be great at the moment. You know how it is when you get encouragement from people, kind of makes things a bit easier.

Gidday Jeremy, By now you will have done your first 12 hour night shift which is daunting enough in its self, but new job as well !!!. I hope it all went well for you but expect you're really wacked right now.
Having worked both 1500 to 0300 nights, and 1900 to 0500 nights , which usually with overtime went to 0700 , what I did with the last job was at the end of the shift I went straight home ,had a light snack, shower then bed. Then got up at about 1430 spent time with my wife, children when they got home from school and also did my chores and then had dinner with the family at 1800 before heading off to work. Lunch was of course at midnight. Because coffee kept me awake in the morning, I never had one after 2200.
It is hard getting into a routine, but working nights has its advantages, I could get to the shops in the afternoon if it was required, more time with my kids, and also the top management wasn't around to bug me. Big Smile plus, and I don't know if it applies in your area, but the night shift allowance was good for the pay packet.
Good Luck.
Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them.
Cheers, the Bear.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Jeffery, not sure what happened but when I tried to watch the Video, it locked up Firefox Big Time! Had to reboot the computer twice to get Firefox to work again.

Infected Toe Front, thought I had some good news about it till I got home. Well the good news first, today when I changed the dressing the wound looked very shallow, just to the point where all I need is for the skin to go back over it! What has me worried tonight is my right calf is starting to hurt again! Could the toe be infected again and spreading up the leg like last time? If the calf still hurts Thursday, back to the VA I go again. Bang Head

Train Front Just pulled the MRC F7's from services, think it is time for some maintenance. Staring to hear some whirling noise and guessing it is time for a lube job. While there are better detailed F7's out there, I am happy with theses.

 See you later.

Ken, is he infected again? Whistling

Evening guys

I tried masking the stripe on the thrall gons and it worked. Somewhat. Out of 8 cars I tried, 4 had the white come off. Guess it was too soon. Then the masking tape didn't work out too well on the other 4. Guess I'll have to touch them up and weather them. Next batch will just have white painted stripes.

anyways, I'm going to bed. Nght ya'll

Evening gang!Cowboy

Decided to take a break from the diseasels today, so after dinner I got out a kit that came in a big lot of stuff from fleabay. Now I knew going into it that someone had been into the kit before, I knew the tender trucks were missing, no big deal, I had them.  As I went along (with no instructions) I fount I was missing a siderod bushing, no big deal, I had that too!. Now the box also appeared to have the remnants of several other Mantua kits, along with partial valve gear from a Pacific, pipe holders, misc screws and springs (bonus!). However I soon discovered there were 2 things wrong hereSurprise. Someone removed part of the rear frame. No place for the crew to stand and no way to attach the tender, AND the pipes coming up from the steam chest had been shortened!! Bummer, cuz by then I really had the mechanism turning VERY smoothly!

Guess I'll be calling Yardbird"s tomorrow for a steam chest and a frame. After I get that, the a basic decoder and test runs. Then paint, and If all goes well, maybe I'll give her sound !!Big Smile

Well, Mr sandman is calling, catch up tomorrow with coffee!

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a refill on the decaf please!

I did some more cleaning down in the train room tonight.  Also did a bit more foam construction for more scenery.

Blackie has been out and about quite a bit today.  Twice came over and sat down next to me here at the computer and reached up with one paw to tell me he wanted me to pick him up...  Doesn't seem to be getting worse at this point....  Time will tell.

Prayers for in need of them, and that would be most all of us...
