It certainly was... like Christmas that is Yougottawanta. Here are a few pictures of the Finished Ceiling in my RR room. Now as soon as I get the upstairs painting done for MOH I can rock and roll on the layout for the rest of the winter and up here winter lasts to about the end of March/beginning of April.
And now..... drum roll please...... the unveiling

Was out of the house kinda of early today to go to the Jefferson's Barracks VA Clinic.I got fitted for 2 more pair of Diabetic shoes today. Soon I will have 3 pair of shoes at the same time? Not a big shoe person, normally I have 2 pairs, work and yard shoes. I think the only time I had more shoes was when I was in the Army! Then I had two pair of US Issue Combat Boots, pair of Dress Green shoes, Corcoran Jump Boots and my civilian shoes.
YRW Reason the DC engines I have had that I am not using is because they need new motors. Some of them have had DCC decoder added at one time and they BBQ. Motors draw to many amps and let the smoke out. Most of them are older Athearn and there motors where not the best for DCC, now for DC they work great.
Far as the stem engine it is plowing snow but sure looks stuck in that picture.
Curt, sorry to hear about your grandmother.
Jeffery, you think I should change the wheels? Funny thing the last two nights it been working fine? I all so need to check to see if all the wheels are picking up current.
Hoping to see some of Abby and Ziva tonight, again last night I was disappointed.
Later, Ken

Curt - condolences and prayers to you and yuour family. Will pray for traveling mercies
Rob - Sorry to here about your eyes. I wondered why you didnt just go to O scale but it makes since if you already have a stock pile of HO.
Ulrich - still praying for you and family. Early on when my wife first took ill she wouldnt accept help either. It wasnt until she became unable to she was beyond the point of being self sufficent that I was able to call in help. Then the Gods cavalry showed up.
Jeff - one word WOW ! I had no idea that wheels were made that way. Thank you. Hope this message finds you well
Dennis - man that is almost like Christmas again finding all of that stuff in teh boxes
Ken - great news on the commision , have a question on the old DC engines. Cant you just add a DCC Board and keep the same engine ? Is that steam eng. plowing snow ? Nice picture !
Todd - When I ran out of room for the kids and the choice between trains and kids. Well there was always duct tape and the ceiling for the kids Just kidding.
Jeremy - good luck on the job offer
Youngest is still sick. She will be going to w##k with me tomorrow. No school today due to snow. So my oldest went with me to w##k today. We had a great time. Cold here and they are calling for a bit more snow tonight. Gotta go TTYL
Hey Curt,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Petra as well. My Wife and I have both been there a couple of times on each side and it doesn't get any easier, even with practice.
Be kind to yourselves and do what you can for the right reasons. Remember that they have their free agency but it becomes clouded and less reasoned with advanced age. It's then you need a degree almost, to convince them about what has to happen for their own well being and safety.
Good luck with that my Friend.

I saw a (HO) AD60 class 4-8-4+4-8-4 Beyer Garratt loco, sold in/from NSW Australia. Cool looking beast and something I always dreamed of in N scale. A bit too expensive though. Anyone ever seen one of these models run in person???

Jeff: Hey dude, that is one wild looking FT. I have many times wondered what one would look like with two lights. Great work on it. My mom and dad are sad that your mom passed. I am too but you know that already. We will be at her memorial service. She was a powerful and very dynamic person. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Mornin'....... Uh... Ahem! Afternoon folks!
Chloe, I'll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sourdough toast. Oh, yes more dark roast coffee please!
Slept in for a change today, and have been busy putting out fires, so to speak, ever since. Still noice and cold outside3 the door here in the Finger Lakes. It is now all the way up to 11°F outside with a wind chill making it feel like -6°. I have a bunch of errands to run this afternoon, the daily drive to Canandaigua and back for my sister's cat, and then a Troop meeting to attend tonight. Modeling isn't on the list again for today.
Sister will be home on Saturday, and I should be getting caught up on a long list of other items soon, so I hope to be able to spend a bit of quality time with the SLOW before long.
Curt, my condolences to you and your family! She lived a long life, and it sounds like it has been a difficult time for a while for your family. You are all in my prayers.
Catch you all later!

Hi Guys
Had a good day so far. I had a interview for a job today that went OK. I then went over to drop off a resume at a local printing press as a friend of mine told me to go ask for this fella and give it to him.
Turns out he is the guy that runs the whole operation over there, lol. He was very nice and we had a conversation for a few minutes and he told me that there would be a full time position coming up and would I be interested? I said yes definitely. He said good I will get a hold of you next week to have a interview and talk about it. So that's some good news.
The place Im at now is okay, the people are nice but I have seen some things by certain managers that seem somewhat sneaky, but im not in a position to say much so I kind of have to look the other way.

Morning guys
Changed the oil in my car this morning. A Wix filter and Mobil 1 Super (for high-mileage cars, my father had bought a 5 quart jug of that so I used it) for my Mustang. Odometer reads 228,000 now, but it still runs great and has power after all this time.
I looked to see why the A/C stopped working while I was at it. Looks like one of the pipes for the A/C got crushed by the header on the passenger side, and may have a small hole at the bottom. That may have happened when I had to jack the engine up to get these equal-length shorties on. New engine will have equal length long tubes.
I'll wash my car later, whenever it warms up a bit.
Jeff, oh, how does that happen? I thought it was the flywheel slipping or something...

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Coffee in a SANTA FE mug, please.

Good morning eery body.
Here's an older photo with Reggie's Junk Yard. I had not yet completed scenery on the other side of the fence beyond the dump truck. Also, I had not yet installed the gate for that fence where the track enters the junk yard.
Seems like its getting cold in numerous locations. Canadians: Feel free to take back the frigid weather.

Good morning. It's 57° with 100% humidity with patchy fog. It'll be cloudy with a high of 72°.It's almost like a spring day here. I can just hear the guys up north yelling 'Shut up'. Nothing special planned for today. Last night just for the heck of it I fitted a second headlight lens into a Bachmann FT shell. Just another of those strange things I do for fun.

Partly sunny, with a high near 21. Wind chill values between -4 and 6. Tonight, a 50 percent chance of snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Saying it’ll be about 60 by Tuesday. No wonder all are sick. Bright side is they’re calling for rain Sunday through Tuesday. Let’s hope.
Ray- To an extent, Helicopter parenting is close (had to look that up). The Mother is/was like that, the Father sometimes talks about how after the boy was born he wasn’t around, or left for a while etc, etc, and wants to make up for it blah blah blah. But it sounds like he was only gone for like two or three years tops maybe not even a year, when the kid was like 1 or something. I think it's an excuse to not actually do anything himself. Make an excuse..., call it good. He’s a pretty good kid who doesn’t get into any trouble despite everything, just lazy but will wo*k… to a point…. if he chooses. He’s just learned that Mom and Dad will give him what he needs so why do anything. But you are correct, responsible is NOT a word I would use to describe either one.
Ulrich- There’s lots of support for you here. Look at it like…. If they could not drive…, would you take the keys? It’s for their own safety. They may not or ever understand. But you will know you’ve done the best you can.
CDN Dennis- You layout room has the same issues as mine. Where does it all come from!!!
We have a three bedroom 1800 square ft home with full basement. Actually, 1798 basement and 1796 upstairs. Wanna be accurate here. Anyway, we raised two kids in here and when they left they took all but the things they didn’t want. And when we got rid of those, of course, found out they wanted them but hadn't got around to getting them... oh well. Point is I look around now at the stuff in this place I ask myself…..how did the kids fit?
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good Morning from "Sweet Home Pukekohe" ( same cadence as Alabama Todd)
With all the trials I feel a bit guilty here 23C and mostly sunny. We went on tour the last few days, Mt Egmont (a volcano) the coast again, off to Palmerston North then to Napier on the east coast and across the central mountains on 138k of gravel windy roads through canyons past lakes and just the most incredible scenery you could want. (The rental co any is not going to be happy with me - their car is full of dust in and out). Today was spent sorting out the logistics company so the container can go home next week (don't ask it's too much bandwidth to explain) and off to a lighthouse overlooking the west coast. With luck Monday we go on a steam train excursion on the Glenbrook Vintage Railway.
Not that much trackage here, but what is here is well used. The hotel is within earshot of the Kiwi Rail mainline and there is a lot of traffic (presumably to the big yard in Hamilton and some on to Wellington. The commuter rail from Palmerston North to Wellington is a joke, one train south in the morning and the next north at 5:30 pm so no commuter rail trip.
The trip north took us up rt2 to Napier through a canyon with a river at the bottom and a rail line on the other side. Those of us wanting a narrow shelf railway around the walls couldn't ask for better. Vegitation and rock slides, two tunnels and a variety of bridges and retaining walls to task the skills of a master modeler. After that we followed the tracks to Napier and then inland along rt50 through the hills to a gorgeous high bridge over a river that makes the one on my layout look like a post trestle. Into Kaweka Forest and Kanmanawa Forest Parks. That's where the 138k on gravel roads came in (average speed around 40kpm - think of New Riders "Henry" - and he's rollin' down the mountain goin' fast, fast, fast.) There's a run on sentence for you. But the country is just awesome !
Guess what I'm trying to say is we really love it here. We'll really be hoping we get back here again after we leave next Tuesday.
I hope the rest of you are hanging in there between weather and family issues. Home is getting the remnants of Lees' storm in between airplanes falling out of the sky (two blocks from home and a block from our former shop in Danbury). CUL, J.R.
