Looks like tomorrows weather will be better than today's was. Warm and sunny with much less wind. At times today it looked like the wind topped 40 mph. Glad I had nowhere to go. That big van of mine would've been pushed around quite a bit. Can you imagine driving against a 40 mph headwind? The gas mileage would suck! Tomorrow if it looks good I'll be making a trip to the bank to make a deposit. I would usually do something like that on the 1st but I'm going to be pretty busy on the 1st this time around. There's my mothers memorial service. Viewing 9-10am at the funeral home followed by the service at the Veteran's cemetery. Afraid I wouldn't be in much of a mood for business that day. Oh well, we all have our own lives to live. Guess I better get on with what there is of mine and stop wasting everyone's time with this.Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Yeah, I had a tech working for me who had his out. Went in the hospital and was home the next day. Most people they can do it arthroscopically but were talking about an 85 year old , overweight person with Dementia. The are going in the old fashioned way. The Doc is being almost creepily grim about the whole thing.
Oh well, I'll be there tomorrow to see her before surgery at 9.

NCE über alles!
Hey gang
Choo choo aggravations today. 2 of my Midland Geeps have paint issues that require stripping to fix. Been 24 hours in a 90% alcohol bath, then I tries a second tubs with Scalecoat II stripper, Its slowly coming off. At this rate, MAYBE tomorrow. I've never seen Floquil be this stubborn before.
Meanwhile, buckets are falling from the sky, and the wife gets home and informs me her low tire light is on! Um, Honey, I'm not looking at it now!
Then my sister calls, Mom is in the Hospital and having emergency gall bladder surgery in the a.m..
Can I get around here!! LOL!
Jeremy, tough decision! A nice problem to have!
Everybody else, stay warm, stay dry and try to stay out of trouble!
I'll have a heaping helping of the House Dinner Special tonight, please.
***Jeremy, that is terrific you have options to choose from.
The new Bachmann (HO) Climax arrived this evening. Sure is a cool looking little loco. Will be testing it this weekend. Hope I got a good one with no glitches.
Can't believe my small herd of large (Paint) horses went through that surging creek to get to the front pasture. Had to be near the top of their backs and that water is seriously moving. I'm impressed!
Will be a lot of trenching work to do here in the near future. What a muddy mess out there.
Cheers! Rob
Hi Guys,
Nice and warm out here. Its going to change with a deep freeze tonight though. Had the gas company out today and did have a small leak, he said that it was no where near dangerous though just a slight leak when the regulator opened.
I have a bit of a dilemma on my hand. I have two employers that want me to start work for them next week. I don't know where I should go as I have been thinking about it all day. I have to try to make the best choice. Difficult as I enjoyed both interviews and the people I met. Im trying to weigh both options.
Well Im going to go catch up on the diner here.
Curt WebbWe made it home at 2 PM today.
Glad to hear you are home safe and sound Curt. Sleep tight
Afternoon one and all. It's been a sn*w/ high wind/ bbbbbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrr kind of day here. Not a lot of sn*w, bout 8 inches according to the weather guessers by tomorrow morning. The part I hate is that on the ground it's -21 C at 15000 feet, it's +4. Crazy
On the layout scene, lots of fiddly things getting done, got all the faults/shorts worked out. Ran some OLD Loco's and OLD cars on DC so that if anything went bad and things crashed to the concrete floor, I wouldn't be heartbroken at their destruction. All went well.
We all know that if I'd have use new rolling stock, it would have been on the floor.... Old Murphy ya know.
I'm also re-designing my staging yard to accomodate 3 trains as opposed to the 1 that existed before. There will be a big staging area in another room for 6 to 8 trains.
Ah yes well off to eat the evening meal and then shovel sn*w again and go to the post office to pay the feds their bribe money to pick up my Kadee order.

Afternoon folks!
Chloe a cup of hot chocolate would hit the spot right now.
Rob, Galaxy, and others... The storm that is all the way from the deep South right up into New England is also what is guiding the weather here in the Finger Lakes. Galaxy is just enough to the East of where I am that he will likely get a bit more rain then I will here. Still the weather channel is taking about 35 to 45 mph winds and gust over 55 mph tonight and as much as an inch of rain and some rare Wintertime thunderboomers thrown in just for fun. The map looks just plain nasty with this one!
I got the "steel" framework for the water tower painted today and may get a chance to assemble and start weathering it tomorrow. Feels good to have some time to do model railroading.
I have spent much of the day holding and cuddling Blackie. He seems to be very lovey today for some reason. Still not getting around very well, but tomorrow hopefully I will find out what is going on with him. he doesn't appear to be in any pain...
Catch you all later!

58* here. feels like a spring day, to bad we got all of FEb and March to get through before that happens. The lilac trees/bushes in the dooryard not quite blooming, but have buds on them already!
Flooding, though not on a grand scale IS expeceted!
Well, MOH got the statement for Unenjoyment in the mail so we know how much MOH will get we continue to claim. Not much of course, but we shall survive somehow I think! I hope! I pray!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
House Special and a coffee refill, please.
That was interesting. Pasture disappeared in the heavy blowing rain and there was a rumbling sound, so I ducked downstairs. Power went out until just now, so crossing my fingers it stays on. I'm spoiled and like to have power in the house. All I see is flooding out there and if it wasn't storming I would definitely take the sports car (mini-excavator) and clear a drainage pipe that must be largely blocked up now. Will need to take hay to the big horses if not later today, then in the morning. Creek is nearing capacity and I sure wouldn't want them to attempt the walk around down there to get to the front pasture where their current bale is at.
Healing thoughts to those in need.
All is well. Cheers! -Rob
Hey all
Two young ones have been SICK ! Geez. The youngest had teh flu for three or four days, she gets better and then the older daughter gets sick. I walk in from w##k yesterday and she vomits at my feet. What a way to come home. Awwhel, cleaned her up, gave her meds and then off to bed for her.
Chris - The atlas turntable (I have one ) which I have not installed yet because it is flush vs. sunken. That bothers me. Trying to decide whether to put it in. You may want to look at that aspect of it. For some it doesnt matter.
Ken - glad to hear the w##k thing worked out. Did you loose any commish because of not being there ?
Karl, Garry - yep I think she is a keeper. My daughters have been talking to her daughter (they are the same age) and she told my girls that if I ask she will say yes. I think I will wait until my BD in June and see if she buys me the Ya or Yb that I have always wanted. And if she does then I will ask !
Garry - So she took offense to weather the brass ? And that went over like a "stone duck " LOL. Has she bought you any more maybe a hybrid ?
Cul J.R. - How neat ! That is one of the things on my bucket list !!! Was it hot in there ? I have always wondered that .
Tom - Heck with those Indonesia engines I liked the NS engine !
Uhlrich - Keeping you in prayers
Jeremy - You can check for a gas leak on your meter yourself , take some "soapy water" (water mixed with dish detergent ) pour it over the joints. A gas leak will cause the soapy water to bubble up. Thats how the plumbers that work for us check there system after they install their gas pipe.
Well goota get back to W##k. TTYL

I'll have the breakfast buffet this morning, but please bring me my cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug. Thank you Ma'am.
Called the vet this morning, she had surgery and won't be in for a while... They have a vet subbing for her though and I have an appt. for him to see Blackie tomorrow afternoon. I do hope he will be OK and it is something correctable. He is still have trouble getting around. He was trying to get up in his favorite chair this morning and couldn't do it. I picked him up and put him in it. He can get down just fine, just can't seem to jump with his back legs....
Dark and gloomy outside this morning and currently 58°F. Way too high for this time of year. There may be a line of thunderstorms about to hit the area with some high winds, so I will be signing off very likely for a while.
Hope all of you have a great day!
Quick Coffee TO GO, please. Tornado Warning. One on the ground and I am within it's path range. Has a ways to go before it would get here, but moving at 60mph, going to get ready to dart into the basement. Could be a long day!

Good morning.
Todd ..... Speaking of Hawaii, there was train in Maui for tourists when we were there. Here is a link to "The Sugar Cane Train" ......http://www.sugarcanetrain.com/ ........ I went to Hawaii by rail. I got sea sick on the cruise ship, and spent all my time leaning over the railing. ...... (Not really. That's a joke. We flew there of course.) .... The trip was maybe 20 years ago. I won a decent prize with the lottery and blew all of it and more taking the family on that 16 day trip.
Where is Sue? .... She was here briefly several days ago. Did somebody scare her away or what?
Jeff..... Nice photography of the brick building.
Galaxy ...... Hoping everything works out for the best regarding your wife's situation.

Todd, King of Toddland...yes, returning may not be the best, but have to go through the motions anyway. MOH went to a customer service Phone company today to apply, they had a job fair yesterday, but MOH missed it, they also advertise that one can apply at the office. MOH DID work there for 3 weeks, but wanted the job in the floral Dept of the grocery store so resigned, they are always looking for people I hope the previous incidences don't bar MOH form getting hired there again.
Well, I went to the grocery store and to ALDI's ,picked up scritps and went to the CU and Post office. At the CU just as I was filling out paperwork, the power went out! Seems there was a serious accident up the street...the CU people had to thorw us out! So I will have to do the banking another day.....

whew I still feel tired, short a couple hours of sleep.
Good morning. It's 53° with 53% humidity. It'll be cloudy and cooler today with a high of 55°. We have a wind warning today with NW winds 20-25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Anybody on the lake today has to be a nut! The white caps are rolling!Nothing in particular planned for today. I may do some morfe work on the layout later. With the wind the way it is there's a possibility of the power going out and I don't want to be in the middle of a project step when it does. Just better to sit back and ride it out.
Good Morning!!!
Just coffee please. Thanks.
Had a good rain yesterday evening and night. Kinda dark to see the rain gage well but looks like almost 2”. Our forecast locally was preeeetty much like Jim (Cape) said his weather was like last night. However, turned out most but the first say 30 minutes (about 5pm), which was kinda heavy rain, a couple flashes of lightning and a rumble or three of thunder but nothing severe, was a nice gentle rain.
Garry- Speaking of Hawaii, there’s someone out there who models a Hawaiian railway. I guess they don’t have a rail system there? But this guy “created” one. Really great looking IIRC. Watched an episode of Hawaii 50 yesterday….no rain.
Lee - Your weather report and ours are the same ‘cept ours is one day earlier. I hope things like the vehicles have a chance to dry otherwise we’ll have every door froze shut and the things hermetically sealed tomorrow morning. Friday for you.
Galaxy- (shaking head) Still amazed at that “exact time” policy the place had. That’s almost impossible to obtain. Sounds like it’s something they use when they want and I bet ignore when they want. If I remember she spent a bit fighting with them anyway and I wonder if they didn’t just use this clock thing as a reason to get rid of her being as how they had no real reason. Some places don’t like employees doing anything but allowing themselves to be pushed around. Maybe it would be better if she got a job elsewhere and didn’t return. Nothing brings out the vendetta’s as much as a person who beats getting fired and returns because the person that fired them was wrong. They’ll just look for ways to make her quit and she’ll be miserable. Of course I don’t know this will happen, I’ve just seen it before and would be leary.
Bear- I thought Australia and New Zealand were like neighbors. You have pretty much the same accent so figured you’re only like 20 miles or so apart. So much for rural public schools. Then again, I was also taught Columbus discovered America. You’da thought the stories of being met by natives would have clued historians in that someone already found the place. WHICH by the way, turned out to be some island and not America after all. He didn’t stumble on America until the second time he got lost and landed somewhere here. Florida, Massachusetts, Idaho....who knows with the accuracy of that story. Spent two weeks looking for his buddies from the first time never realizing they weren’t even on the same land mass I guess. They even brought potato salad this time. I think he shoulda backed off the grog when driving the ship.
No real plans for today again othern to go see Suki. Maybe. Might just stay home too. Feeling just kinda blah. Who knows. I will find myself in the trainroom though, gotta do some laundry you know.
Welp, speaking of Barbi Benton, time to watch Ziva.

Gidday All, Sorry for pinching your photo of Ja 1250 J.R. , but it makes me go all weak at the knees. Pleased to see you got home safely.
Just to clear a misconception that some of you have, I'm in New Zealand,( thought it was a good idea of having the option of placing your place of residence under your avatar ,but no point in muddying the water now), and though we often refer to Australia being just over "The Ditch", the Tasman Sea is actually about 1330 miles wide, so we aren't receiving any of the floods and storm that is affecting the Eastern Seaboard of Australia so badly. Thanks for the concern though, its OzJim and the other Queensland and New South Wales residents of the forum that need it.
We're actually facing drought conditions with a total fire ban just officially put in place for the district because ot the extreme fire risk. The weather guessers are now saying possible drizzle on Sunday, and possible rain Monday. We shall see.
Currently 2316 hours, 57 F, (high was 86 F today), 85% humidity.
Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them.

***Jeremy, I completely second what Ken suggested. Although the only time I "worked" in a fish store was painting a mural on a wall in exchange for a 185gal tank and lots of other stuff, I did keep a lake's worth of fish tanks for many years. I usually went with underground filters plus corner filters plus those bio-wheel filters Ken posted a pic of. Plenty of filtration, never overfed the fish, and very rarely ever cleaned gravel. Bottom feeders helped stir up "stuff" so the filters could grab it. My two cents worth. Enjoy!
***Ray, you always do such fine work. Look forward to seeing the finished tank.
***JR, cool cab pics!
Stayed up and watched a DVD. My weather radio is in the Train Room, so perhaps I should head down there tomorrow for Mother Natures Festivities. Flood watches and wind advisory in effect (so far) here in North Georgia for tomorrow. Please, No Tornadoes!

Jeremy What exactly are you cleaning out of your aquarium, how often and why? If you enjoy watching the fish and hate cleaning the tank, get a better filter! I only clean my 55 gallon tank once every 3 to 5 year's! I did a little looking tonight and seen this, they where just coming out when I bought my last filter, which was around 10 years ago.
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752390&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo
I believe in over kill so I would go for the Penguin 200 which pumps 200 gallons a hour. I run 2 whispers pumps on the 55 gallon and each pumps 200 gallons a hour. When I have to clean out the fish poop, I uses a siphon hose and a 5 gallon bucket. Takes maybe 15 minutes, longest time is dragging in the garden hose from outside to add water. I normally have the bottom of the tank clean after 7 gallons of water have been siphoned out. I might do this 2 times a year, I don't rally keep track.
All so, do not give the fish more than they can eat in 5 minutes! Way more stuff to clean up. Only feed them twice a day as well. Yea, fish see you and they act hungry, just like our 4 legged pets, but if they are really hungry they will eat the food that sank to the bottom of the tank!
See you all Wednesday.
