Afternoon everyone, Nice day here in Utah it's in the 70's blue sky and sunshine. Suppose to rain and s*@w tomorrow so I put some of the patio furniture in the shed while its still dry. I finished up a Bar Mills kit today after work The Captain Jacks boat and bait house. It turned out pretty good for my 1st wooden kit.

Todd, Thanks for the reply. Glad someone remembers me...

Ulrich, My wife and I just got back from Hamburg. We went to there to see Miniatur Wunderland. It was AWESOME! We spent four days and loved every minute of it. I am also interested in Boats,Ships and Tug boats so I was in heaven! We talked about emailing you and trying to Hire you to be our tour guide, But since you don't know us I decided not to freak you out...  It was a great trip and I just wanted to tell you I loved your great city.

Huh? wha? who?OH..HEY the new computer is here and working!!! Hey! It looks different!

Glad to see I was missed!

Sorry guys, but our 7 y/o computer, crashed, fried its mother board and died last Thursday. We COULD have repaired it with a refurbished mother board, but declined that option-not trusting "refurbished", so had to pony up a credit card to buy a new one.

I COULD have gone to friends house but that would mean wasting 4 gals gas. just to update you guys and others. I COULD have gone to the Library, but decided I could wait for the repairs {which then turned into the new computer}. I COULD have gone to MIL and FIL or my fathers, but we both have a bad cold/flu-ish thingy going on now so don't want to infect the aging parental units!

I can read this new computer but must find the increase screen words sizing option button somewhere..never had to before, but this print is tiny. My Aging eyes, you know.

SO: HELLO ALL!!!

Where was I? oh the furnace boy got the furnace working! Then the computer crashes..if not one thing another!

Have to try out the new office word program too and see if printer works....

SO:

PRAYERS for those in need,

Welcome to the new members here!!!

Thumbs Up Yeah to Jeffrey as moderator...I always wondered why you didn't? I shall have to be more careful now that Jeffrey is a MOD...{cleans up act and sits up straight}

SO..see you all in the AM?

Jeffery you folks in Louisiana would all die of a heart attack if our weather ever made it down your way, on the other hand, I'd die of heat stoke with your summer temps and your humidity. Indifferent

The most snow we've had here at one time was six inches. That lasted about a week. Everything closes at half an inch so that meant no schools. The kids went nuts! Usually the only frozen precipitation we get is ice in the form of ice storms. Ever seen a redneck trying to drive his big 4x4 truck on that stuff? That's an 'E' ticket event!

A friend of mine that I used to work with and that I used as a reference just called me and said the job that I applied for ( and want, lol ) called him yesterday. That is a pretty good sign right? I had the interview last Friday and they called him on the following Tuesday. I hope that i is a good sign.

Just checking references. But it does show they may have some interest.

Sir Madog
Now that this blooming tooth is gone, it still hurts nonetheless! I am hungry, and although it should be OK to eat something now, I don´t dare to.

I feel your pain my friend. I got a bad tooth pulled last year and it was close to a week before I could eat anything hard.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal w/ brown sugar and a cup (or 3) of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug.  Thank you Ma'am!

Nice Fall morning outside today.  The sun is shining for a change (partly cloudy they say) and a current temperature of 44°F.  High should get all the way up to 55°F later this afternoon.

I have to call the Vet this morning.  Blackie the cat seems to be losing a bunch of hair along his back....  Going bald on me.  Hope it is nothing serious for the little guy...

Todd, I agree with your assessment 100%!  I rarely shop anywhere except at locally owned and operated stores.  I almost never eat at chain (so called) restaurants as I can warm up food in a microwave myself if I want to eat THAT sort of crap.  I haven't even walked into a MallWart in over a decade and will very likely go there ever again.  As Pogo once said, "We have met the enemy, and they is us".  Opps, I see Vinnie looking this way...  I'll be quiet now...

Ulrich, Amen Sir!

Last night I went out to see what the meter reading was before heading out to a Class of 64 Reunion Meeting in Canandaigua and...  Some time yesterday when i wasn't looking, NYSEG came and replace the meter with the new one!  I don't know whether it was early morning before I got up or when I was out shopping.  All that is left to do is replace the 100 Amp breaker on the main box with a 90 Amp breaker and it will be done.  Of course there is still the Code Insection and a rather large check to write. Whistling

Best get myself moving, call the Vet, and see about making some other progress today!~

Later!

Good Afternoon!

Now that this blooming tooth is gone, it still hurts nonetheless! I am hungry, and although it should be OK to eat something now, I don´t dare to. Oh, well, not my day (come to think of it, none of the last few hundred days really has been my day ... Whistling)

Tom & Todd - it´s those little things that really matter. They make our lives a little more pleasant, put a smile in our face. Does not buy as anything, but warms our hearts and therefore, IMHO, is far more important than all the efficiency, the super savings, the big deals and the like. We used to go to one of our local Greek restaurants quite often in the past, when we still could effort to go out. Now these visits are very, very rare. Still the couple running the place know us well, we get greeted with a big hug and the Greek coffee we usually have following the meal is not on the tab. Guess where we go if we have a chance to go out! This is not supposed to be a rant, so Vinnie can stay in the back booth, but today´s life misses so much of the friendliness and warmth that I grew up with. I would not say that this is a result of the economic crisis were are in, as there had been times much worse before. It is a question of attitude, respect and social competence, which the generation after us has apparently not learned. What did we do wrong?

Todd - I couldn't agree with you more. I feel the same way. This little restaurant I mentioned is a comfortable place to have breakfast. The waitress usually sees us parking the car out front and either has our coffee at the table or is heading towards the table when we come in the door. There is a group of regulars who always say "Hi" and call you by name. The waitress knows what we like. So if I say an omelet, she knows that's a western omelet with bacon, home fries with onions and white toast. I don't have to tell her. When she brings the check, I put a $20.00 bill down without looking at the bill and after she adds her tip, just gives me the change. No fuss, no muss. Like I said, just comfortable.

I know I'm getting old because all the things and places I really like seem to be disappearing.  Tom

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and…….let’s try the blackberry jelly donuts again today. Thank you.

Good to see Rob from GA checked in and OK. Happy five-0 late.

Thayne- Hey I remember you! Welcome back and thanks for the tip.

Jim- No mow yet. Waiting for more leaves to fall.Whistling

Flip- I understand. Just glad you are still around and I’ll wave at you through the window hoping things improve.

Tom- Too bad about the restaurant. I too prefer small Mom and Pops myself. I grew up with them and just well, I guess it’s a fond thing for me to feel if you know what I mean. Besides, they tend to have the best fried chicken.Dinner

POF- (Personal Opinion Follows)

Unfortunately when it all boils down to it, for the most part, it’s not the economy, it’s not the giant chains and it’s not the internet. It’s us that runs Mom and Pop businesses away. If you don’t patronize them they can’t survive and well, with todays people they tend to go to the Walmarts one stop shop and pass up the little places. 20 years ago our town Williamsville, Illinoyz) used to have 4 restaurants. 4. A grocery store, 2 gas stations, laundry mat, Barber shop and a hardware store. Plus some other things too but can’t remember off the top of my head. Now that’s a town of (at the time) roughly 800. Now 20 ye…um…ok maybe 30, but the points the same, now we have yes 2 gas stations, but they are a Casey’s and a Love’s truck stop. Back up to 4 restaurants from an all time low of 0, but one is a McDonald’s that came with the Love’s, a new Subway earlier this year, a Huddle House off the interstate and of course uptown, the Italian restaurant where I w**k 3 nights a week which is, luckily, a Mom and Pop. We still have the bank and the Vet, but that’s pretty much it othern Patterson’s propane. Oh and a brand new carwash this summer. And get this, in the last 20 years (yes 20) the population has…almost doubled. People go to the places in Springfield and pass the local businesses up to eat at Applebee’s. They do the same in Springfield. I think there are only really a few, and I mean a very few like you can count them on one hand and probably have fingers left over, anymore, but new chain restaurants are popping up all over and not a one has an empty parking space. So people are eating out and spending the money, they just aren’t eating locally if you will. My Chinese buffet is a local Mom and Pop,Hmm just not sure where local isLaugh. I’m not knocking the Lonestars or the Outbacks and Sonic’s. Just that if every person, heck, if half the people who ate out included a Mom and pop place just once a month in their round of restaurants they go to, they’d be fine. Same with most other businesses as well. And I’ve always said, the only reason Walmart is so big and has so much buying power….is because we did it. We can blame the Walmarts all we want but the truth is, if we didn’t flock there, they couldn’t be so big. They are the new Sears and Roebuck of a long time ago on steroids.

Enough of that soap box opinion stuff. On to something more important---

Whoa Jeff- the AC unit fell out of the firehouse window again. Better check for damage to the trucks. The AC unit doesn’t seem to have been damaged though.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good morning, Diners.  I have time for a cinnamon roll with my coffee this morning, Chloe.

Hi Flip.  Glad to see you checking in.  Your early schedule sounds like mine.

Rob,  Sounds like you are enduring crunch time, trying to get all the outside chores done before the weather changes.  I am sure that your sister has mentioned that our rain is scheduled to start on Friday.  As soon as the sun comes up, I am heading out to haul our split firewood up to the woodshed.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute.LaughLaughLaugh I am so lucky to have a bucket on the tractor.  It saves my back muscles.

Terry,  Another great shot.

Later,  Sue

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

Good morning. It's 65° with 100% humidity and patchy fog. It'll be partly cloudy with a high of 88°.

I'm not feeling good today. Chest pain and lower back pain are having their way with me and I don't want to do anything that requires movement. Looks like no work of any kind today unless something changes.

Evening  Jim, t'was not I,sir. It was TA462.

I'm not that brave, or fool-hardy, depending on how one views these matters. That said however, as for the doghouse, well as much as I try to keep out of it, even after 22 years of marriage, I still manage to end up there. Sigh Can never earn enough "Brownie points" to stay out for long either. Stick out tongue  "C'est la vie."

Well as it's now 2334 hours here with the current temperature of 45 F, with a forecast high of 64 F, and  a busy day tomorrow, I will forego the delights of the diner and wish you all a good night, or day, depending on where you're situated.

Good Morning Gang!

Good news - I found some sleep last night, not enough, but i big improvement from the past nights. Bad news - my tooth acted up again, waking me up at 3 am. My attempt at having breakfast did him in, finally. The dang thing just broke apart! Went to the dentist at 8 am and now I am minus 1 tooth, a strange feeling.

Oh, Murphy seems to have moved in with us - the car is also acting up Dead

Not really my day!

Chloe, just a glass of water, please. I am not supposed to eat anything for the next few hours.

Have a good one!
