I'm not really sure how many engines I have floating around...but I do know a few notables;

All under Milwaukee Road colors;
A FP45, 2 F7A-B sets, a Trainmaster, a venerable S-12, even a U-Boat U-33C.
For steamers, there is a 4-6-4 that makes an appearance now and then, among others.

Should be more specific, but I don't have my engine numbers in front of me.

Under the Misc. Category;
Two BN GP40's, one Rock Island SD40-2 , and representing Amtrak, a F7A.
A couple 44 tonners for the industries, even a Budd RDC from the Santa Fe. (It's "leased" according to my model RR's story.)

If you can't tell already, this all comes from a midwest themed model railroad.

My current roster consists of over 150 engines, split 70/30 steam/diesel. Most of these engines will eventually be purged (sold), as they're leftovers from my freelancing days (lots of old Mantua Mikes and Pacifics). My target is to have 30-40 engines layout-ready for my three-level monstrosity.

Most of my engine roadnames are "undec". Other favorites include the NKP, P&E, P&PU, IC, and GM&O. On deck to paint and letter are more NKP, P&E, P&PU, Pennsy, IC, TP&W and ATSF.

Since I model Rio Grande steam (with SP trackage rights) I've got a pretty diverse roster. Rio Grande includes one of everything from 2-8-0 thru 4-6-6-4 (Baldwins not the 3800 series UP lookalikes), though I had to kit-bash my F-81 2-10-2. SP is represented by AC 5-6-8 series 4-8-8-2's, one each 2-8-0, 2-8-2, 2-10-2, 4-8-2 and several GS-series 4-8-4's, plus an AC-9 2-8-8-4. I have several 'on loan' locos (since my era is set in the WWII-Korean War era) most notably from the C&S (2-8-2, 2-10-2), GN (2-10-2, 4-8-2, 4-8-4) and a couple of Pennsy M 4-8-2's. And I shouldn't forget my 'never was' Rio Grande 3900 series 2-8-8-4's, based on the Missabe Yellowstones (I can sort of claim them, as in real life, the Missabe loaned about eight of these handsome beasts to the Rio Grande during the winters of WWII, when the Great Lakes were frozen over). The Rio Grande is currently testing a C%O Allegheny 2-6-6-6 on the Yuba River Sub for possible purchase from Lima. It's fun. If you're an HO scale fisherman on my North Fork of the Yuba River, you have NO idea of what's going to come down the track, next!

The newly reorganized Muddy Creek Railroad Company has a new Shay on order as well as a new Consolidation. In addition, we have bid on a used NYC Pacific at auction. Our shop is currently bashing a Class A Climax to help the Shay on the logging line.

The current locomotive roster consists of a single bizzare machine that runs on a fuel obtained by the fractional distillation of crude oil. It appears to be similar to those machines that were being promoted by Rudolf Diesel. It claims to be Class RS3 and seems to have been built by ALCO, though the current 1917 catalog does not list this strange item. The LPBs in the shop see no future for this machine and are agreed that it has to go. They would like a new 0-6-0 switcher in its place.

Anything to keep them happy.

Wayne.

After swearing I would never own an F unit, I now have 6 A units and 9 B units. All painted in B&O blue, gray, and black scheme. Along with my F unit fleet I have a varity of GPs all in Chessie with B&O sub lettering. Lately I've picked up some RS-1s and RS-11s. Not sure how I'm going to work these into the B&O roster.

I dabble in Western Maryland as well, some F units, GP and an SD45. They don't see a lot of action, sorry WM fans.

My Wisconsin and southern Roster
(####) denotes new number when repainted from old road to new number and WSOR scheme:

WSOR 3808, GP38
UP2842(3807) GP38
SP4839(3803)GP38
Southern21??(10a)E9
BN 423(1202)SW1200

I hope to get those units repainted in the near future. All are Athearn Blue box except for the E9, which is a P2K.

My roster is slowly growing...

Athearn Genesis F-3A-F-3B set, going to buy the full ABBA set next year,
Athearn Genesis USRA Light Mikado, going to be lettered for (???)
Bachmann Spectrum Balwdwin 2-8-0, not going to be used or going to be re-powered
BLI USRA heavy mikado

All are CB&Q execpt for the Spectrum 2-8-0, which is a Rock Island engine, and the light mikado will either be lettered for Rock Island or another road in Minnestoa/Wisconsin. I am thinking of modeling Upper Midwest with CB&Q, NP, GN, Rock Island, and DM&IR, but for right now CB&Q is the only road I am sure I'm going to feature on the layout.

my modest locomotive roster includes the following:

1 beater steam loco that doesn't work anymore (0-4-0)
4 starter diesel locos - 2 CPRails, 2 CNRails (2 run fine, 2 need work)
3 loco shells - needing work
2 steam locos that need tune-ups
1 steam with tender that runs reasonably well

as you might guess, I accept everyone's junk with a smile

cheers,

A somewhat diverse collection - here's a few that give an idea of my fleet:

C&NW Erie-Built
NYC C-Liner A and B (we seem to have a lot of retired Fairbanks-Morse power!)
a pair of C&NW Dash 9s - bought when the LHS had cut their prices massively, these look great and run well.
Athearn DD40 - not amongst my best runners - think it's something to do with only having one slightly underpowered motor with undersized flywheels, though it now weighs rather more than normal due to lead ballast!
Bachmann GP50 high-nose in NS - superb runner, decent can motor, how do they make them for the price?!
E R Models FP7 - superb loco, DCC ready, bought as an online store over here had them very cheaply - planning to buy one of the Baldwin Sharknoses (as a partner for the Proto 1K C-Liners I have) when I can afford to.

There are others, including assorted SD9s, SD40T-2s, SD40-2s, etc!

Right now I have the folowing active units on a railroad that occupies a 25' by 20' space:

MILW
GP9 - 6(P2K)
SD7 - 3(P2K)
S4 - 1(Atlas)
RSC2 - 2(Kato)
RS1 - 2(Atlas)
SW1 - 1(Walthers)
F9A - 1(Athearn Genesis)
Gas Electric - 1(Bachmann Spectrum)
C7 - 2(Spectrum)
L3 - 2(Broadway Ltd)
G6 - 1(Spectrum)

CNW
GP9 - 1(P2K)
SD9 - 2(P2K)
SD7 - 1(P2K)

and not on the railroad......
OTHER
FP7(Atlas) - Undecorated
44t(Spectrum) - B&O
4-6-0(Model Power) - Undecorated
GP35(Athearn) - Wisconsin & Southern
GP7(Walthers) - WC Ltd
GP40(Athearn) - WC Ltd
E8A (P2K)- CRI&P
E7A (P2K)- Great Northern
4-4-0(Bachmann) - Christmas present
NW2(Kato) - BN
SW1(Walthers) - PRR

The Milw & C&NW engines are all painted/detailed and have DCC decoders. The rest are either factory decorated or 'works in progress' - they sit in the display case or are lost in the boxes on the shelf. Do I plan to buy more? Yes, P2K has 4 more GP9's arriving late this year, and Intermountain has a FP7 also due later. I just remembered that I might have a half completed RPP CF7 somewhere. It's an illness, but at least I have gotten rid of the 100+ engines I had and have been working on 'high end' engines that I can really use. The same for freight cars. 600+ custom painted/decaled/weathered have been flea marketed over the past 10 years and I have spent my money/time on well detailed/correct freight cars(almost 100 now). These are P2K, Kadee, Red Caboose, Intermountain, etc. I still have some old Athearn/MDC cars, but they fill specific assignments.
