Boy, if we lit a prayer candle for everyone in need here we would burn the diner down.
This is starting to sound like an Old folks home. Same here as well. I have really been feeling Shi--y lately and not doing very much, although there is lots for me to do. The knee is somewhat better but nowhere near the OK mark. The two degenerative discs in my neck continue to put pressure on a big nerve there that doesn't feel very comfortable and getting lots of ringing in my ears now. Ahh, the Golden Years are to be looked forward to. I say Bu--$1***$2 I guess it is better than being under the lawn but some days even that becomes a question.

I actually got most everything done THAT I needed to get done today. Got about half of the Herb Garden/Asparagus bed weeded, did some grocery shopping, started to do the layout for the Scholarship dinner coming up next week, talked and emailed people at the local paper about the problems with the article for the dinner, had the blood draw, and even........ yes, I even....... found time to put another turnout in place in the yard down in the layout room!
Now I'm tired so i think I'll sit and watch the drizzle outside THAT Barry sent my way, and then head out to bed.
Prayers for all suffering from life's difficulties (and there appear to be several) out there.

Go into w**k today at 4 PM. It's been very steady at w**k lately but not crazy (I just jinxed myself). I just found out my work partner has to have his Prostate removed because of cancer. It was caught very early because of his family history. That will probably happen in July. Well I have a ton of things to do before I leave the house so I will talk to you tomorrow.
Jeff/Barry/Johnboy- Hope you guys are doing better. Sorry if I missed anyone.

I was 15 pages behind this morning. Very cool layout pictures, thanks to those who shared.
Gary, I normally go to about 12 train shows a year (September - May). I don’t really go shopping at “normal” stores unless I need something. Train shows are just fun even if you don’t buy anything.
Good news: it’s been 3 months since I turned off the old chest freezer and replaced it with a new upright and about 6 months since I replaced the old dryer. Believe it or not I’m saving $95/month in my electric bill.
Bad news: I’ve been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism. I guess I’ve had the symptoms for the past 3 years but they are so indifferent nobody put everything together until last weekend when I saw an endocrinologist. So far I’m suffering with the top 5 symptoms and the Doc has me on a fast track to surgery to correct everything. This month I have appointments with urology, nuclear medicine, MFI imaging, and a pre surgery consultation. I guess my point to this is nobody ever brought any of this to my attention until everything got bad at once and I didn’t understand the little complaints added up to one minor problem until the problem got out of control. I thought the pain in my side and lower back were sings of over doing it. I thought tiredness and needing a nap every afternoon was because of my work schedule. I thought the nausea was from not eating right. I thought my weight gain was due to my inactive life style. I thought my lack of motivation was due to the weather. Forgetfulness is often brushed off, but I noticed when I left the house in the morning I would go back to see if I had locked the door before I drove off, sometimes I would drive around the block after leaving to see if I had closed the garage door or not. I never kept track of how much water I drank each day. So for the past month I’ve been eating less than 1,200 calories a day; I should weigh less than 200 pounds but I weigh 250. I’ve been drinking over a gallon of water each day but I’m always thirsty. It’s hard to get interested in my trains or any other hobbies, I just watch TV all day. Keep an eye on yourselves and your friends.

Lee - I'm glad to hear that someone was able to put all the pieces together and give you an answer to your puzzel. I also agree with you about train shows. I enjoy going to them no matter the size. Sometimes I pick something up, but not usually. Even the wife enjoys them. She also enjoys railfanning with me. The only problem is she asks a lot of questions while railfanning and I have to to remind her she's asking the wrong person. At train shows, she wants me to buy everything I stop to look at because it has pretty colors or is cute. When I tell her it doesn't fit with my collection her answer is "So what!" Good reasons for not trading her in I suppose.
At long last. I don't have to put the lawn sprinklers on today. It stated to rain last night hasn't stopped since. So the new sod in the front yard is getting a good soaking. It is amazing how much better rain water affects the lawns and flower beds than the water we drink. Makes one stop and think, doesn't it.
That's about it from here, I've got to one load of wash done this morning with another three waiting their turn, so I better get busy. Everybody have a good one.

Drought's over! Got a little over an inch of rain yesterday afternoon and last night. Expect another half inch of liquid sunshine this morning..... may get some thunderboomers as well. Currently 57°F outside with a high around 65 later this afternoon.
Lee, hopefully the surgery will correct the problem and get you feeling much better quickly. You are in my prayers!
I do wish the items I am out of for the hobby would hurry up and get back in stack at the hobby stores! I have been waiting close to 4 months for the code 70 railbars I use on the track. need to get them installed before painting the rail... I ordered some Homabed over a month ago and haven't heard a thing from them except they got the order..... Guess I will finish up the watertank for the powerhouse and then put stone on the roof. Then I can get it permanently hooked up on the layout. Should have been doing THAT anyway, but wanted to get the yard done enough for when the Scouts came over. Today is a good day to do Yard Work!!! Layout style that is!

Back from a brief vacation as the family traveled to Wichita, KS to see my youngest niece graduate from collage from Friends University. Out of all my nieces and nephews she is the only one to obtain a collage degree (Double major Zoo Science / Field Biology) so I am extremely proud of her. It will be tough to get a job right now in her chosen field but see is looking at options until something opens up. Right now she is 1-of-5 remaining out of 200 that applied for a position that she is trying to get into right now so I'm pulling for her! Got some Railfanning in while out there too and will have a blog entry up in a few days about the trip.

Lee- I have all those symptoms, but they say my thyroid is right on target. Makes me wonder. As to why no one ever cauhgt it is probably easy..because you probably didn't express to your Dr. or Dr.s all the symptoms at once. You may have complianed about one symptom , but not the others at a visit to the Dr. SO they never pieced it all together, Also, Drs. are only human and there are something like a million different disease out there they have to have a basic knowledge of. WHen my gall bladder caused my problems it took them 5 years to decide it needed to come out. It got to the point where every other month I was showing up in the ER. Because I drank at that time, htey blamed it on that. Then one month I was in the ER adn a different Dr. was on duty- one I hadn;t seen. He came up with pancreatitis. WHy? because he LISTENED to my compliant and "went looking". He tested for pancreas enzymes and BINGO had a hit. The next time I appeared I could not keep anything down-not even a tums to keep the acid I seemed to have mountains of from coming up for 7 days in a row. I told them "I wnat you to FIND what is wrong and FIX it!!!" Once they verified i indeed had NO alcohol in my system, and I had reported the pancreatitis the month before, they ordered a CT scan, which showed the gall bladder to be enlarged, mishapen, and ballooned/bloated. They called in a suregeon/speciallist on the matter and he said it had to come out based on my symptoms. Finally!!! AFTER 5 years!!!! I got relief. I haven't been drinking the gallon of vodka a day I used to for over a dozen years at least. I even quit smoking many years ago. When I drank, theyblamed every thing on that, whne I quit drinking , they blamed it on smoking, when I quit smoking, they blamed it on gained weight. If I loose the weight, I WONDER what they will blame everything on then??????

Safelight doesn't like the complaint I registered about a small crack {1/4-1/2 inches} right inthe field of vision of the passenger side. So I have to take it in to the shop tomorrow afternoon to have them look at it. problem is it only shows up in Direct sunlight at certain angles. but when it DOES show up, IT GLARES signifiantly on the passenger and driver may or may nto see it. I am sure they will try to weasel out of replacing it and I wna tthem to come to my house to fix it, NOT me take iot to their shop and wait 4 hurs to drive it. It is their work adn their warrantee...NOT mine. I will be admant they note my file if they "can't see it" as it is to rain tomorrow. It's like DUH! I wouldn't be asking for a replacement if there was ntohing wrong wiht it!!!

Galaxy, the specialist took all the results from any blood work I had done in the past and put it all into a spreadsheet. When you look at it this way you can watch test scores rise or fall. My scores were nose diving over the last 4 years, except for the calcium and PTH that was rising. I had a full thyroid and parathyroid work up (blood test) for my discharge physical and the doctor wasn’t too worried about anything he saw. But you compare that to a blood test done 2 years before and I imagine I would have had this fixed then.
I appreciate the well wishes and prayers, I’m rather fortunate they can fix this with only a couple days in the hospital.

Afternoon guys
Looks like the dinner is turning into a medical ward. I may have pulled or stretched something in my right arm today. It's kind of numb along one of the muscles in the upper arm (not the bicep or tricep, it's on the outside). It was sore, but the soreness is gone. Same for something in the lower arm. It kind of hurts to twist my arm around so the palm faces up.
I'm hoping some of my stuff shows up today. Maybe I'll get in an order to atlas later this week to get the correct sideframes for my C425s (I want to get them looking right for when those Bowser C636s arrive)

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
My father found an antique in my mailbox today. What appears to be a 70's era Athearn GP35 with the power and drive line intact. It has what looks like the original black ring magnet motor with steel flywheels, spline drive shafts and brass worms, plastic gear towers with sintered wheels. I've test run it and it runs quite well. It has that signature Athearn coffee grinder growl that us Athearn old hats know so well. My intent is to convert it to DCC but I'll have to change out the motor first. Those old black motors take too much power.
My Athearn Superpower F7A and my dummy stewart F7B showed up today. I was suprised that the BB F7 came with a hex motor and hex shafts. The F3B looks easy enough to power, just get a bunch of atlas GP7 parts. The F3 shell actually fits pretty nicely on the Athearn's drive, I'd just have to file down the mounting tab (as opposed to enlarging the hole on the shell). The downside to the swap is the superpower weight has to be cut down or removed to accomadate the stewart's windows and fan recess (for the option of high or low fans)
The only downside is the F3 didn't come with the truck detail parts, and the motor casing on the F7 is cracked. I'll give both companies a call tomorrow to see about getting the parts. Although I might take the F7 apart and see if I can replace the busted motor casing with a spare. If not I have a bunch of P2K GP drives that could donate parts (I have like 2-3 extras)

Got to 68F today..in the sunshine....we got about 2.5" of rain last night/this morning...
Took myself to emerg today to get toe looked at..turned out I had broke 2 metatarsels for pete sake.........so, walking around in a foot cast is my lot...as well as a bone scan of all the ding things to ponder....yay Reason they are doing bone scan? One doctor suspects I may have bone cancer....
So, anyway..hobbled back to the car with wife..she is looking at me and asked me what I thought...gee I hope not...was all I could say...another series of testings and probings abound if so....
Got the motor in the GP35 changed out. It now has a motor from a Proto 2000 FA1. I wanted to reuse the flywheels from the old ring magnet motor but the Proto motor has a smaller diameter shaft. That left me with a longer shaft run so I had to cobble together a pair of shafts from junk box bits. I just test ran it on address 00 and it runs just fine. Still has a bit of a growl from the gears.

I spent my time researching to see if I could find a match for the NYC F3B I have in BN's roster of F3s. Unfortunately modeling 1977-1987 leaves only a few F3s that are useable. Some of the Ex-NP passenger units did have overhangs at both ends, but they all seem to have been stricken from the roster before 1975. I may try to trade my F3B Shell for an F7B as they were much more common.
Gluing the motor casing on the athearn F7A didn't work out, so I'll definately call Athearn tomorrow after work.

Got a lot of odds and ends done today, including some banking. The roofer stopped by and gave me an updated estimate which was about the same as the one he gave me over a year ago. This one includes a couple other little things that were not on the other estimate. I am having the entire old roofs removed (there are 2.5 layers of shingles already on the roof and I want him to inspect the underlayment). He didn't have any color charts for the metal roofing with him so he will drop them off tomorrow. i will check with some family and possibly some of the neighbors to see what they like. This will be the first Steel roof in the neighborhood, so I don't want anybody to be shocked by a gaudy color.... LOL They can do it within a week or so and will be completely done in 2 days once they start.
My Fast Tracks PC ties arrived in the mail today, so I put down a couple more feet of ties today. I also removed a couple of tortoise machines that will either not be used at all or need to be repositioned for the new yard. Then I started another turnout..... Turned on the sound system down there and played some tunes while a played with trains!
