Evening all!

I'd love a glass of coconut milk served with fried bananas in coconut ice cream please!

Blownout cylinder, it devastates me to hear your health news! I know all of us will be rooting for you and wishing you good outcomes.

Tomorrow is my first day off, seriously, in about a week and a half, and I plan to spend time, reading, doing some writing exercises for a writing course taught by a local writer, and of practice playing with Paasche VL and maybe pull out the Badger 200 again.

Also, I'm meeting up with someone tomorrow who'd not been a good friend or influence to me for a long time. I called him on this some months ago, but unhappy that I didn't want to be friends with him anymore has written me and asked if we could meet for a beverage this week before he leaves town again. I'd rather forgive this guy and move past the negative feelings of how he treated me in the past so I said yes. I certainly hope it goes well.

I have writing class in the evening, which I'm looking forward too as the first class last week had been a lot of fun. Than I am going to Philly to spend the night at a friend's place before a job interview in the city Thursday, than a work-related meeting in Lancaster, back to work and bed :)

Morning guys

I tried to sleep in again. And again I wake up like 2 hours earlier than I wanted too. Uggh.

Anyways I managed to swap out the DH123 in my GP38-2 with a soundtraxx non-sound decoder. I have other locos that could use the DH123, I just have to find out which ones.

Galaxy, What about humping loaded autoracks?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Morning All,

Off w**k today so I will be w**king on the layout. Before work yesterday I tried running a 0-8-0 into all of the RH leads. Only 4 of the 6 worked. I metered the 2 and now there is no power. Last week there was. What the  heck? I looked at the 2 leads and 1 probably just needs soldering. Yeah it looks like I missed it and the wire is making intermittent contact on one side. The other track should be OK but isn't. When I get that figured out I will start laying the tracks to things like Diesel fueling etc.

I received word through a very well placed PRR Blogger that Broadway Limited will be coming out with the re-releases of the I1sa, K4s, K-7 Stock Cars (with or without sound), and the H10 (new). Of course you need to be independently wealthy to afford these. As much as I want a BLI K-4s it will be $500 and since I have 2 Spectrum's that are nice I will have to pass. I will probably order the stock cars and the H-10 (2-8-0) which combined will run around $500. Of course this is contingent on CFO approval and me working OT to pay for them. Projected delivery is Winter 2012.

Packer- You might try Melatonin. It is a natural sleep aid. Both my daughter and I use it. It works better for her than me but it may be a option for you.

Barry- I sure hope the MD's are wrong. Sending prayers your way.

Lee- Sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery and I hope it corrects the issues you have been having.

Cats- I hope your meeting goes well.

Hope everyone has a good  day and prayers for those in need.

Good Morning!!! Coffee please. Thanks

Lee- Sorry to hear about the problem. Sounds like they can correct it. I hope so. Prayers for a successful repair job.

Barry- I second Ray’s hope. Prayers for you too.

Catsthinkwell- Good luck on the meeting.

While we are on the subject of medical problems. The MIL is back in the hospital and the doctors say there’s nothing they can do anymore and she will just kinda waste awaySigh. No saying how long it will take. She is in fair spirits and has come to terms. Personally, I think she gave up a couple months ago. Now, every time they do something or give her something it causes another issue somewhere else.  No executorship here thank goodness, the Super Evil Sister from Hades is. She’s the eldest and well, let her have the headaches on this. I was lucky. I don’t think she will be. Brenda will be on her to see she does what her Mom wanted, Idiot Brother will be his usual greedy I deserve it self, Evil Twin who has more money than Bill Gates will probably step in with her two cents worth that will only be worth a half cent if that, and  will only cause problems, Good Brother will probably be ok until he gets drunk and then will get into it with Super Evil Sister from Hades over…..something, AND Super Evil Sister from Hades, who by the way has the intelligence of a donut but thinks she and husband, who I believe just may be a tad stupider than her yet knows even more, will somehow feel her and her family will deserve more than anyone else and will be short changed. Bright side is, I doubt if I will ever get another jar of the worlds worst chili sauce againYes. Did I ever tell you about that? I’ll tell you sometime. It just doesn’t pay to be polite all the time. Brenda and her Evil Twin have already made it clear to each other they know about filing a complaint about the Executor should she decide to alter things as she sees fit  Me? Well I’ll just ice down a few Lone Stars or PBR’s depending on what I have and watch the show until I get roped into something. Kinda glad my sister and I are sorta estranged.

Welp, today I will finish getting Brenda’s car running. Put the battery in yesterday. Car was designed around the battery I think. Replacing it was an afterthought. I’m sure when the subject was brought up the lead engineer said something like "Um, just realized there's no wy you can reaaly get that battery out and back in" To which another on the team responded  “come on now guys, I’m not ever gonna replace the battery in one of these things….are you?” After it starts, I’ll figure out what else is wrong and try and remember why it was parked to begin with. Might have been just abad battery causing the erratic behavior. Cars being controlled almost completely by electronics anymore, could very well been the issue. Brenda says it was a shifting issue and since that is also electronic, could be but who knows. Never did get around to checking anything out last fall when I opened the hood to check it out and that’s as far as I got. Had to jump start it several times back then. Things came up and it was put on the list of things to do. Whistling Mischief

The list is getting shorter.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good Morning Modelers!

It's 51F and clear as we head up near 80F today.  Having a small bunny issue in our neighborhood and it's been hiding during the day under our shed so I put up some wire list night.  The shed sits on a concrete slab so it can't dig under.  Our neighbor to the east had a trap out but has small kids so he doesn't leave it out much and I think the bunny's home is under his porch.  Hoping we can catch it and take it over to the park rather then kill it but then again with the wire up the local fox might get a meal here soon too.  My thoughts for all those in need and wishing all a great day and week ahead...

Good morning. It's 69° and mostly cloudy. The high will be 82° and there's a 20% chance of rain.

No particular plans for today. I have to run a couple of errands for my father later. For now I have to go and prepare my mothers breakfast.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buckwheat pancakes and lots of dark amber NYS Maple Syrup to pour on it, a side order of bacon, and several cups of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.  What?  It'll be OK, blood sugar was 84 this morning!

Darren, around my neighborhood we have a "Large" bunny problem!  The little $@%%!@? hold meetings every evening on my front lawn!  Unfortunately firing a gun in the city is not allowed, so we just put up with them most of the time. Whistling  I live right at the edge of the city limits and there is a large city park just down the street and farm land nearby, so trying to move them would be futile.........

Todd, is your Better Half's family related to "Mama" from the Carol Burnett Show?  Sounds like you all are in for an unfortunate "FUN" time.  This too will pass and then you don't have to be nice to any of them (except the other half, of course) again!  Oh, Vicki Lawrence just did a show here in Geneva last week.  i didn't go, but I heard it was fabulous!

Bill, by the looks of the work gang photo, it appears they just got their paychecks!  Those were the "good old days" we keep hearing about.

Best get a move on I think.  Have more stuff to get done today.

Later!

Afternoon All,

My back is a tad bit sore right now. I just finished installing 15 service tracks. I cleaned the track and I will hookup the power to them tomorrow. I got power attached to the 2 RH tracks without much effort and tested with a loco so I am happy about that. The pictures below show how the arrangement will be.

Broadway Lion- Nice shot of your layout.

Ken- Another nice shot of  your layout. I'm glad LarryDevil is gone.

Todd- You surprised me this morning. I could not believe your detachment. Of course I thought you were talking about YOH until I reread your post and realized you were talking about your MIL. Stupid meDunce. I will say prayers for your MIL and your family.

Barry- I will continue prayers for your cancer free results.

Everyone take care and prayers for those in need.

Hey guys.

I just got back from work. One of the girls there has been creeping me out a bit lately. She constantly stares at me, and if I catch her looking she smiles a bit. Granted she is kind of cute, but the starting thing is wierd. I did confront her about that by saying "I know I look good, but why do you cnonstantly have to stare?" She laughed and ask why I was starting at her. We don't talk a whole lot because I'm pretty shy around new people, and I'm trying not to get too attrached to co-workers (the last 4 didn't go so well)

Curt, I used to use melatonin, but I use something a bit stronger now. I usually am in bed by 10-11 so I usually get 6-7 hours of sleep. Nice modeling by the way.

Not to be impolite, but I'm kind of clueless at what you are trying to get at?

Well I dug through the box that my Stewart F3B came in and couldn't find the detail set that goes for the trucks. I looked at stewart's site and they sell them. I'd buy but what's driving me away is the 10 dollar shipping. 10 bucks to ship something that could go in a padded envelope? Wonder if anyone has a spare (or a spare set of completed stewart F sideframes)?

Vincent ... I suggest not giving up. ... Go to the Stewart website. ... They should have a "contact us" button...... Type; " I just received a new Stewart F3, and the truck detail parts were not included. I am willing to buy a set, but I can not afford the $10.00 shipping and handling cost. I am currently working my way through college. Would you consider waiving the $10.00 fee?. Thanks for your time. .... Sincerely, Vincent _____, (street address) " .... Try it. You have nothing to lose doing it. I bet they say "yes", and they may not even charge anything for the parts.

I was able to contact athearn a bit earlier and they are sending another motor for my Superpower F7, in addition to some other parts for some of my other locos. Kudos to them for doing that.

Ken, Now that you've chimed in, I think I get what Rob was getting at now. Those are indeed F9s, and you said they were the same thing as what Jeff has and you posted? That could work since I have a friend who models ATSF and has a staff of stewart F-unit shells. Maybe Larry's stuff bursting into flames is karma in action?

Garry, I was thinking of calling them instead. I've had better luck with calling other manufacturers as opposed to emailing them. The only thing is they are closed ATM, I'll try calling them after work tomorrow.

Finally got around to changing the oil in the van today. I can tell when it needs it. The light tapping of some of the valves starts sounding like castanets. Let it go for a few more weeks and it could probably stay in tune for the Mexican Hat Dance. A five quart bottle of Pennzoil 10-W30, a filter and a couple cans of Restore USA Engine Restorer and it's happy as a clam and running quiet again. When I first got the van I tried 10-W40 in it thinking that it would be better for an older engine. The dang thing would never stop clattering. Drained that out and replaced it with 10-W30 and the difference was night and day. All that clatter reminded me of some old BN U-boats that came through town many years ago, years before it became BNSF. You could hear those things clattering seven blocks away! The way they looked they were probably headed for a scrap line.

Hi Folks, more bad news from the land down under...

A friend of mines mother was tragically killed by her husband yesterday morning. They had been local residents for over 20 years, her Husband was last night charged with murder.

Their place is only around half a mile from my home...

Trying to move on, I'm considering a whole new layout about 7'x14' using code 55. I still haven't decided if I'll go with Atlas, Micro Engineering or Peco yet. I would re-use my code 80 Peco in the yards to save money.

Check back later.

Time for me to call it a night. After wrapping up my outdoor activities earlier I found to my dismay that I was leaving bloody boot prints on the carpet - again. Seems that while I was either getting down on my back or struggling back to a standing position during the oil change on my van I ripped open the edges of the wound on what's left of my right ankle. The dressing was completely soaked so I had to cut it off then clean the area with alcohol soaked gauze pad. I got the bleeding stopped OK and put on a new dressing. It's getting to where it's getting hard to move around without this happening. Oh well, life goes on. See y'all tomorrow.

Morning guys

Looks like I beat Galaxy and Bill this morning. I usually don't sleep very long when it rains, but I feel fine for some reason.

James, Sorry to hear about your friend's mom. As for the new layout, I would use the code 80 on the main and code 55 in the yard. The other way would look kinda backwards.

Jeff, Be careful with your foot, I take it you didn't feel it when all it happened? I thought Ken was talking about the Santa Fe F9s you have. Looks like your F3 is a different phase than mine. is yours a stewart as well? Some of the very latest F3s looked like F7s, it gets kind of confusing with rebuilding and such as parts get switched around.

Evening folks,

Vincent,

I am talking N scale here Wink Problem with code 80 in N scale is it looks like 200lb rail... code 55 looks much better more like 130lb rail. My yards would be hidden anywho. In the photos below you can see how code 80 looks. Smile

I picked up a Kato N scale Dash 9 from John the "N Scale Addict" that he weathered. I also got one of his lumber loads he makes. It arrived last week here in Australia.

Cheers,

OzJim

EDIT- Looks like I've got top...have at it...

 HO and N Scale.
