Good morning, Flo (well, for a minute or so yet)! I'll have a BLT, cheesey fries, and a RBF, please 'n' Thank You. Smile Hmmm...maybe for dinner I could have chimmichugas? Or chili? Decisions, decisions(oh, wait, somebody else said that, I think)... Jeff, it must be your fault - you got me thinkin' about all those yummy (and filling!) foods.Smile, Wink & Grin

Aw, poor guy. Chimichangas OR chili? Why should I have one or the other when I can have both? And with plenty of my Tabasco/Da Bomb hot sauce! The smell of that ought to clear the neighbors sinuses. Yeah, and I'll have a Tabasco lemonade too.

Today I'm inspecting two new acquisitions. Two commemorative proofs. An 1854-S Double Eagle and a 1933 Saint-Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle. As far as it is known not a single example of an 1854-S Douple Eagle was saved. Out of 141,468 coins struck not a single one was saved. Only one original proof coin is known to have been struck.

On the 1933 $20 Double Eagle, they have been the stuff of legend. They were made legally but were illegal to own as soon as they were made. It shouldn't exist but it does. Nearly half a million were struck in 1933 despite FDR's recall of all gold coins. They never circulated and remained in storage until they were ordered destroyed in 1937. A few were pocketed by mint employees but the theft wasn't noticed until 1944. Nine coins were recovered but one escaped. What happened to it afterward is for you history buffs to track down. Wikipedia has quite a bit of information about it.

Good Evening

It was an interesting day filled with lots of paperwork and getting new equipment stuffed into our office plus getting some more stuff done at the church........then off to the cafe to rest one's beleagured bones then off to get some more groceries to cover for tomorrow's operating session and BBQ..

I started my sick leave this weekend because, well, it is radiation/chemo next week..and I need time to get some things done before I am too ill or some such.......but I am still going to get some photos done next week of some of the layout....Smile, Wink & GrinMischief

JimRC:  Well, they did find that it was a slow growing type of bone cancer..thank goodness..all that is needed is a couple of treatment sessions and hopefully things will clear up...

Whistling

Barry,  (Blownout Cylinder)

My Wife and myself wish to extend to you our very best wishes and prayers for your speedy recovery.

Thank goodness we all live in the age that we do, and that our medical expertise is as advanced as it is.

A few years ago the outcome would not have been  so certain.

Keep us posted,  you will be in our thoughts until you back to your old self again.

Evening guys

Seems like the dinerhas been kinda slow recently. Guess the MIA list is taking it's toll.

The right F-unit detail parts showed up today, I'll send the wrong ones back tuesday. I'm listing all the stuff I need to get to complete the group of F-units I am doing, and that's not counting the group I'll be getting in a few weeks. I re-evaluated the F9 quandry again, and decided I will wind up using the ex-L&A one. I can leave the other one as one that didn't get a snowplow pilot. I also ordered some other parts for those Atlas GP38Xs. Ever since I've got them the windshield wipers and some other small detail parts have fallen off. I ordered enough to cover several more locomotives.

As for actual work on the trains, I put together one of the Walther's GSC flats, The SOO one is on a bench up-side down while I'm waiting on glue for the bulkheads to dry. The ATSF one is wrapped in rubber bands while I try to straighten it out (warped frame) I figure by the time I get back from work tomorrow I can add the trailer hitch. Wish I had some more kadees to stick in these things, I'm leaving the coupler pockets off until I get some more. That reminds me I need to get some metal wheels.

Barry, Good luck with your treatment.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Time for me to call it a night. My niece had a pool party today to celebrate her birthday. Lots of swimming, sodas, beer, grilling and barbeque. The grilling and barbeque got my attention. I ate my fill and brought more home. See y'all tomorrow.

Has anyone seen my Rail Nippers?

Flo, Do you have my Rail Nippers? You think Jeffery Stole Them?

Jeffery Did you take my Rail Nippers?

Man what a day. Work was sloooooow. Got home on time and the Keyboard Thingy was messed up! While I could get on the internet sites ( Mozilla and Explore ) none of the pages would load? Next I ran a vises scan and tried to see my PC use by hitting Ctrl Alt Delete then things got really strange. Finally ran a full Scan Disk check, that took 7 beers to run!

Good thing is I ran the trains for about a hour and half. Dug out the Blue Line GE AC 6000 and think I see the reason it sounds like caboose. Small pieces of metal has been sucked in to the speaker area.

Now if Jeffery would give me back My Rail Nippers I could fix it! Whistling

 Night All. Ken

Evenin' folks!

Janie, my usual decaf would be wonderful...  Thank You Ma'am!

I get a lot of odds and ends done today.  Pulled out one of the ice melting cords from the deck gutter.  My electrician says i won't need them anymore.  They are all now way too long anyway.  I might be able to use the shortest one in the gutters on the deck if there is any ice build up this winter.  Also finished the lawn and ran the string trimmer all around the property including the part of the garden where I have gotten the garlic removed.  No sign of the baby bunnies, so I figure either mama bunny took them away to a new den (Hopefuly not in the garden) or the neighbors cat is well fed at the moment......  Even managed to get to the train room this afternoon and this evening for a while.  Made up another #6 right hand turnout.  Got it finished except for gluing the ties in place.

Barry, I am glad the cancer is treatable!  You are in my prayers for a complete and easy recovery from the whole thing!

Vincent, I think it is just the time of year where many regulars are off doing other things.  They will be back come fall or before!

Tomorrow I will be spending most of the day out at the museum as a docent.  I won't be back in until tomorrow evening......

Prayers for all in need!

Gday all, been a few days since I've stopped by.

This came sauntering into Brisbane yesterday :

So quiet! barely a whirr from the Rolls Royce engines.

Here is a shot of the waiting crowd (with a Cathay Pacific A330 in the background.)

Good morning all.  Just want to Thank all of you that have worn a uniform. I too wore one and was lucky not to have learned how I would have behaved in combat. It aint only tomorrow that I thank those who did or are now serving.

Prayers and Blessings to all.

Morning All,

No change on my status. I just have to suck it up. I'm sitting here drinking my cup of coffee before water for the rest of the day. I may try drawing the layout on a sheet of paper with all the business's listed in preparation of attempting train orders. Of course this will be done standing upWhistling

Barry- Best wishes for your treatment and outcome. I could of swore you had said Friday your treatment was starting. Must be my CRS. Prayers for you.

Ken- I thought I got away clean with your nippers. I found them on the floor so I figured you threw them away. You mean you didn't? OopsLaugh

Prayers for all  those in need. Prayers for those veterans that payed the ultimate price for the rest of us.

Good morning, Chloe.   A large coffee before our workout.  We need an early start because of the operations session this afternoon.  Brian is such a great host.  Of course, he is an NP guy, too.

Feel better, Curt.

Good morning. It's 73° and cloudy. The high will be 95° and it'll be mostly sunny.

Nothing special planned for today. I cleaned up the layout a bit yesterday but it still needs more.

 Morning All

 Flo, Coffee Pleases.

Going to be a hot one today (I miss winter) with temp around 97 degrees! Wife wants me to cut front and rear yard, trim bushes and kill poison ivy. Some day off!

Hope to get another engine of the RIP track today if the heat does not kill me!

Wife wants me go but some money in her gas tank, so she can drive around and waste the money we don't have to spare.

Guess it is time to get this day going!

Curt How soon can I get my Rail Nippers Back?

Afternoon All,

Just got up from a short nap. Every time I take the antibiotic I get very tired. It may be wishful thinking but I feel a tiny bit better. I thought about the other Diner's and their significant others that have much more significant medical issues and it actually shamed me to whine about my problem.Embarrassed. Thats what I meant earlier about manning up.

Ken- I'm sorry, but I sent your nippers to a needy modeler. I know you like to help others out so I felt it was appropriate.Smile.

Everyone take care and prayers for those in need.

Front yard is done, front gutter's cleaned out (I was tickled to see water coming down the down spout) and I cleaned up the front porch.

Just mixed up 2 gallons of Agent Orange and getting ready to attack the Poison Ivy.

 Time for a Train Break.

What the heck is that funny Noise??  RAIN, it's raining. Haven't seen that in awhile. Ohdarn. Its stopped. Five minutes is just enough to steam up the roads. It looks like Curt should be getting it now.  North Fla. is going to get hit shortly with Beryl.  Oh heck, looks like we will get it later tonight.

Prayers for all.

Phil- I think it rained  sprinkled here for 3.5 minutes but I guess it makes the weather guessers 60% chance of rain correct.

Afternoon, Janie, how about a chicken chimmichunga with all those veggies (no, thank you - I do NOT want Jeff's DaBomb sauce on it...)Surprise, and I will have a RBF (got a bigger mug for that? Wink Thanks!

Barry, [ditto] about the newer medical things that they can do nowadays for your treatment. Don't overdo when/after you've got the chemo/radiation going on/gone. I've heard that it does wipe a person out in the energy department, so get more rest than you might usually. Thumbs UpAngelAngel

Jeff, not sure how you do it, but you sure do put away the food! DinnerYeah If your weather there was like ours, it was a great day for a pool party!Cool

Now, Ken, I don't think Jeff has your rail nippers - where did you leave them? (And was that before of after the seven beers? Whistling Oh, I see that Curt had 'em! Besides, Jeff might just cut the rail with his knife, if the diamond wheel is worn down, though...)Devil My rail nippers are on my w**kbench(AKA dining room table)... somewhere...

OzJim, how's your weather down there in your 'winter'? And nice photo of the 787 - is it that much quieter than other 'liners?

Sue - so, are all NP guys great hosts for operating sessions? Smile, Wink & Grin Have fun!

Barry, all that kitty needs is a sombrero...Laugh

Good afternoon to be inside, Diners! I think Ken's wife is trying to kill him off (and he's helping, cleaning the gutters on a day like today). And no, the black sweatpants is not a good thing to wear for that today...

Curt and Flip, guess you guys are the lucky ones if you got that 60 percent rain. Usually ours comes in July on a hot afternoon - like you said, just enough to cause steam to rise off the streets.Stick out tongue Whew!

I took a look at that Main St. Heritage resin structure kit (Moffat's Bookstore) I've been trying to assemble. Really thinking I may wind up  buying another kit (after I learn how to kludge this one together, sort of...). Should have bought the smaller Main St. Heritage kit (Mercer's Dry Goods) and put it together first. Ah, well..

After I finish off my chimmichunga, I might settle down in the back booth and snooze along with Duke.

Prayers for those we remember this weekend for their service, for their families, and for those in need of healing and/or comfort, as well as for those travelling the highways and roads today and tomorrow. AngelAngel (Drive safe, if you're going to be out there, people!

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G. Zzz....

Hi, everybody!

Been trying to keep up with posts and such, I've gotten real busy with work! That's a good thing!

Sorry for the trials and tribulations some have been and are enduring.

PFC Son was cut from SF Selection. Made it 3 and a half weeks. He was on an 8 mile ,full combat pack run and had to finish under 50 minutes. He did. Then, while waiting for trucks to take them back to base, plans changed and they had to run BACK to base under 50 minutes. He didn't!  Soo, he was asked to sign an "Involantary Course Withdrawal" He refused to quit three times, til the Captain persuaded him it would not reflect bad on his record. He is enroute to Fort Bliss, Texas with 2 other guys from his platoon. He'll be attached to the 5th armoured, one of the Infantry Brigades or a Stryker brigade.( he thinks). I asked about Airborne, he says none of the Airborne will get deployed so he opted for this. oh well. He had his choice and got it. He's pretty happy about it so I should be ,too.

Grandkids are up, ran a bunch of trains yesterday most of day because it was POURING rain here! We've recieved over 4" the last2-3 days.

That's about it for now, I'll try to stay in touch more often!

Thanks for serving, all you VETS out there!!
