Coffee in a APACHE RAILWAY mug, please.

Not one of my better days, mainly from bad insomnia. Mandatory day of rest here. Even cancelled an appointment with my CPA. Barn cats will have to make do with leftovers and what they can catch tonight. Will have to run errands tomorrow though. Back to bed I go.

Take care y'all.

Jeffery I give the Trans Fluid a shoot, I have nothing to lose at this point, well maybe a decoder. Do you think it might quite the motor down?

I have only one noisy motor (two if you count my van) and that's in an antique Athearn. Just remember, don't overlube. That's almost as bad as not lubing.

 Morning Folks

 Flo, coffee to go.

Got called into work early. Sigh I was looking forward to not going till 3:00 sort of. Go in at 12:00 now. Going to be a 9 hour day. But I need the OT, commissions so far this week stinks!

Jeffery I give the Trans Fluid a shoot, I have nothing to lose at this point, well maybe a decoder. Do you think it might quite the motor down?

Side note, I am running the other Dash 9 and it was running sweet. After about a hour, it started to pick turnouts. Hope the wheels just came out of gauge.

Dave Pretty sure that is how Vincent says thank you. I would not take offenses personally.

Vincent Yes I do have a dummy Stewart. But till I get my settlement I am holding off on buying the new motors.

Well, time to get ready for work, see you all later.

Good morning. It's 79° and sunny with some clouds. The high will be 90° and it will be partly cloudy. There's a 30% chance of rain this afternoon and evening.

No plans for today. Just run some trains and watch some movies.

Good morning, Chloe.  I haven't been in since Thursday, so I will have coffee in one of those GIANT NP mugs.

MrB,  Ski season must be over because you are getting layout stuff done.  Are you doing any ship models for your port?  One of our friends that we do operations with  has a barge that is movable.  His intention is to hand carry the barge to a scene around the corner, reload it, and hand carry it back.  It will hold 6 cars.  It adds an interesting element to operations.  Two of the guys working with him are master boat modelers.  They are impressive with their skills.

We haven't done a lot on our layout.  I have been working on a car shop.  However, I ran out of scale lumber and need to place an order.  The LHS that carried scale lumber closed, so my project came to a screeching halt.  Larry started painting again.  He is currently painting a steam train along the river for his sister.

I had a 3 day trip climbing at Smith Rock State Park in Oregon.  We stayed with some friends who have a winter home on the road to Mt. Bachelor.  Friday morning, they had the most perfect corn snow.  It has been the best spring skiing in several years.

Can't wait to see you progress.

Sue

What is all that infernal noise outside...???  Oh the roofers are here.  A whole army of them!  They arrived about 5 minutes before 8AM and were removing the old roof by 5 minutes after 8.  The new steel roofing is being stacked on the lawn as I type.

Zoe, just keep a pot of dark roast coffee going so I can sit and watch them w*rk!  yes, Marrakesh Express would be great!

My poor kitties have gone into hiding under the bed for the day........

Good Morning!!!

Coffee, two eggs over medium, hashbrowns, bacon and one biscuit with gravy please. Thanks

Flip- Great news about Deb. Prayers for a speedy healing.

Weeeell, the evil twin has nailed the super duper evil sister. She has gone thru the checkbook briefly and has debunked most of the claims she made about what she paid for by looking at checks written from MIL’s account to those very things. Problem is, some deposits that were to be made from funds Brenda gave in the form of a check written to MIL, are marked in the register as having been made from her and not Brenda. This was done to keep track of how much the estate owed to reimburse and that is what Brenda’s Mom wanted. Also she found a couple (so far) checks that have no record of being deposited…..in MIL’s account. They have been deposited or cashed as Brenda has the copies of the cleared checks. Funny I said, the two checks missing…., are the only two where there is a second endoserWhistling. Yup Super duper evil sister. Only two reasons I can think of off the top of my head THAT would have to be, and neither involves the check being deposited in the account which the payee owns.

Morning guys

A stop in before I head off to work.

The money from that recent ebay binge has gone dry, and as a result my train budget has been depleted for a bit. I'm going to add to it at a rate of about 20 bucks a week.

Dave, I though I said "awesome, thanks" in one of the PMs, granted it was when you offered not after they arrived. Looks like the timing of that was bad and I'm sorry I didn't say anything after recieving them. Thanks a bunch for doing that. The only reason I'm kind of on an ebay binge is because I got about $800 of unexpected money in the form of my tax return and getting cash value for the vacation time I never used at my job.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Vincent

Speaking of not replying properly, I am still waiting for a "Thank You" for the LEDs I sent you. You are obviously a busy guy, what with the girls falling all over you and all of your recent purchases, but I am a very old fashioned kind of guy. When someone does something nice for you my understanding of the correct response is to say a simple "thank you". "Awesome" just doesn't cut it with us old farts.

In order to put my post in context for the rest of you, I sent Vincent some LEDs, resistors and wire because I thought he indicated in his posts that he was in need of these things to further his modeling projects, which apparently he was. I thought that funds were an issue because he was a student, but apparently that is not the case. His response to my offer to send the gratis LEDs was "awesome". That does not equal "thank you" in my books.

Am I out of date here guys (and gals)? Am I too sensitive?

Dave

My persistance held out long enough to see some ebay auctions to the end. Got an undec stewart F9A (with 2 headlights and DBs, appropriate for BN), 2 walthers GSC flats (1 ATSF, the other Soo Line), and an Atlas EV caboose (In Cotton Belt). The cars will be built as per their respective prototypes and be placed into service. I really was only intrested in the drive on that F9A, but having a correct shell is a bonus. Dunno what I'll do with the L&A F9A shell now. The Atlas EV caboose will be re-done as a BN caboose (Likely painted and decaled at the same time as the trio of NE12s). Best part is all of that cost about 60 bucks, 40 of it for the loco. Not to shabby I think.

Best part is I only need 1 more stewart chassis and some parts to have all the building blocks of my F-unit project; and I'm still in it for less than 100 bucks.

Jeff, After looking up heat rash, I don't think it was heat rash. It was on the exposed portion of my arms. I took some anti-hestimines and it seems to be subsiding.

Jeffery Do you use ATF on motor bearings?

Yes I do. Dexron/Mercon. I have locos I've been running since 1984 that I've always lubed with it. Most are on their second motor now but some are still working on their first. Many of the motors I'm using in my rebuilds have been lubed with ATF for years. I apply it very sparingly, just a drop on the end of a toothpick.

Vincent: Good luck with those hives. You sure it's not a heat rash?

It's time for me to call it a night. I got the NEW YORK CENTRAL F3B patched for the L&A, installed Kadee couplers on the GP35 in a pair of cut-down coupler boxes from a Proto 2000 FA1 and not much else. The numbness that's been effecting the left side of my neck and face for some months seems to have spread to my left arm and leg and adds a new wrinkle to working on things. There's no pain involved and very little decrease of mobility but a definite decrease of sensation. Could be a compressed disk in my neck is giving me a problem, could be my nerve damage spreading or it could be something new. I'll have to keep tabs on it and see.

See y'all tomorrow.

*crawls into the dinner and struggles to get onto a chair*

I may be young, but I'm worn out. After work, I helped my folks move fruniture around, washed their cars, helped make the barbeque for dinner and a few other things. So work from 6am-2pm, then do house work from about 3-8pm. 14 hours of work, man I am tired. It gets even better though, I'm breaking out with hives....

I would have gone to bed by now, but I'm watching somethings on ebay. I'm finding more parts to get from bowser (so far 3 sideframes, detail parts for 2 trucks, side window glass for an F9A and an F9B) so maybe that $10 shipping may wind up being a bit less ridiculous. I'll wait until I have 4 chassis for my Fs. I have 2, and may have a third later tonight. IDK if I should go for 2 powered and 2 dummies, or 3 powered and 1 dummy. I'm leaning towards that later, but I think that the former will still pull a decent sized train.

Ken, didn't you say you have a dummy stewart chassis?

My Athearn Ready To Junk is still making bearing sounds, well to my ears. I lubed the shafts with Atlas motor oil but the noise is still there. What do you think of trying gear lube? Like to get a few more hours out of it before I replaces the motor.

 Evening Folks

Flo, thank you dear for the Beer

Well today sucked, pretty much covered that subject! Only good thing about today is I walked out the door at 6:01 PM.

I received some need parts from BLI to get my PCM Big Boy up and running again! Big Smile Got them for free because they are using my repair tip on fixing PCM (maybe others) Y6-b's. Now all I have to have is some free time to do it.

Getting ready to test the Athearn RTR Dash 9 and see if it is truly of the RIP track.

Flip, glad as well that things went well for Deb.

Evenin' folks!

Ooooohhhhhh!  Janie just let me sit down in the back booth.....  I'll have a cup of decaf please........  Aaaahhhh!

Every muscle in my body hurts I think...  Actually it is mostly my feet!  I wore the new sneakers out at the Museum all day, and by the end of the day, I could barely stand!  Put my old ones on for the evening and they feel a bit better now.

Had a great day out there!  Beautiful, sunny, and hot!  Since I was the first person there I grabbed the freshly painted Erie C254 caboose for the day.  We had a good but not great turnout for opening day.  Everything went smoothly.  Only injury was a little boy who I had just told to hang on to the railing as he climbed aboard.  he completely ignored me and tripped on the top step and came down on his knees on the steel grating on the porch of the caboose.  He got up crying but was OK.

Tomorrow the roofers should be here to start the new roof.....  I can't wait!

Catch you all a bit later!

Afternoon guys

Work was CRAZY busy. I got out about half an hour late. Did I mention the A/C is cutting in and out? Talk about hot, I think I lost a good gallon of sweat.

I did a little more on the F-unit project. I've measured the thickness styrene I need to fill in the door gaps in the 2 F9s. Looks like I need to get some 1/16th" styrene sheets and some body filler. I've cut a sheet of .02" styrene to fit in behind the doors. I think that is thin enough that it won't interfere with how the shell fits. I looked at the 4 DW detail kits I got, it was supposed to be 2 A-units and 2 B-units. I got 4 A-unit kits. The pictures and description on ebay said otherwise. I'll try to get that resolved in a bit.

Flip, good to hear Debbie is doing better

AMTK 184 just went past my window, marking the last of the Heritage units I hadn't seen in person.  Including the Acela and Amtrak California colors, I've seen everything Amtrak has ever used, livery-wise.  Except a Pepsi can and I don't think any of those are left anyhow.  So close.

Not sure what that Amtrak California unit was doing in Virginia...

Wow its a hot one here today, pushing 90 out there. I have spent the last 4 days out getting the garden together and I look like a tomato, lol and am a bit on the sore side I can only imagine what some people look like that weren't wearing sun screen. My neighbor's back is so red that I can only imagine how uncomfortable he's going to feel later on tonight.

So I called it a day in the sun and came in grabbed a shower and turned the Central air on. Want to paint the handrails on a Conrail GP7 and a CP SD40-2 later on, still debating on whether I want to go back out into the heat and throw some burgs on the BBQ.
