So, I betook myself to my trainroom..this being after 11PM and didst do a dumb thing... I tried putting together some wheelsets with those little tiny springs used to restrain the wheels in the trucks.... ...I managed to put together three sets so far......all in all a frustrating evening was had by me...

Nooot much different going on today. Gotta get to the other half of the room to prep and lay the floor in it. Of course I have to do the trucks this morning and then w**k this evening and in between there is a trip to the horse piddle to see about MIL. She is having her colostomy reversal today so I am expected to make an appearance. Probablly give me all of a collective two hours to deal with the floor.

Good morning. It's 48° and mostly cloudy. The high will be 62°.Feeling much better this morning. I have a slight headache but that will pass. I have an appointment with the foot doc this afternoon so that's the afternoon pretty much shot. I may be able to get a couple of cars weathered. There's still the question of what to do with the New Haven car. Do I keep it as is or do I strip it and repaint it? I really don't need a New Haven car.

Galaxy, Victor Borge used to do a routine about learning Japanese by playing tapes while he slept.... Put the tape player under his pillow and pushed play. Lessons in the Japanese language. He said it worked great and he had very easily learned to speak Japanese. Only problem was that he could only speak it while he was sound asleep! He did remember a few words though, like Yamaha, Toyota...........

Boy I'm tired of winter. Although we've been awfully lucky with it all. 40s and pretty nice ,only about 15" total snow, compared with last year's cold an 49" at this time.

Yes, RAY, I have decided to practice my Japanese at the start of each morning's post. MOH and I do that a lot while out on the road....if we see it...it reminds us and we practice our Japanese....complete with gutteral enthusiasm.
well, some laundry to finish and I have to get a new belt for the vaccuum or get a new vaccuum. Probably cheaper and easier to get a new vaccuum than to fix the old one....

Terry - and will continue like that for quite some time. That big lake in the middle of Hamburg is covered with about a foot of ice - reason for a big party in Hamburg. I won´t be going there, it is just to cold for my old bones. Under normal circumstances I can cope quite well with cold weather, but as long as my shattered nerves continue to play tricks on me, I better stay inside as much as I can.

One of those "I am not feeling up to doing anything" - days is closing. I didn´t do much, other than helping Petra with the daily chores, after waking up late. I could not go to sleep last night, went to bed at 10 pm, just to wake up at 1 am again. I was shocked to read about Jeff - I wish I´d knew something we could do to help him.
Well, Petra is calling for supper, so I say CU tomorrow!

Floor Wars, London ON division part 2 or something...: I gots the deed done!! One bathroom totally tiled and even grouted!! All it took was for me to say...look...do you want to see this done sometime today? Or do we do this next week sometime? Maybe? Heeheehee...well..I did not really come right out and say it in that tone of voice but the message was quite plain either way...
The other bathroom will wait until Friday now, while we do other things that need done...my bloodwork for one thing...
As for train time..I will be able to run my choo choos tonight...
Evening All,
Just sitting here yawning. MOH is watching a quilting show...but we could be watching NCIS.When I got home today I put in 5 coal loads into 5 cars before I ran out of coal. The rest is on hold until I get more.
Tomorrow I plan on building the framework for the extension (4x6) and start on a second coaling tower (concrete) for the extension.
Jeff- Glad you are doing better.
Ulrich- I think I forgot to congratulate you on your new loco. Very nice.

Good evening. It's been a long day. I woke up with a blood sugar level of 45 at 6:15 am and took steps to get it up to where it belonged. Chili with beans works wonders! Lots of protein. 13g protein, 2g sugars, 7g dietary fiber and 250 calories. That got it up to 115 as a later check showed. I got very little done this morning. My father wanted my help on something that he could have handled himself. I helped him with it then let him know my displeasure about it. At 2:30 I left for my foot doc appointment. I told him he wouldn't like what he saw and sure enough he didn't. The new boot they got me last week is tight. On the very first day it destroyed all the tissue that had built up and a few days later a Proteus infection moved in and set up housekeeping. I trimmed away what I could then cleaned it up with a couple of alcohol pads. Doc said I did a first class job. He did a little more then put a bactrim cream on it and wrapped it up. The problem then was to make the boot a little wider if possible. He got it so so I could get my foot in it comfortably yet have it be secure. I have to have the toes as even as possible with the front and that puts the ankle (yeah, right!) just ahead of the vertical bars that go up eather side of the leg. It just aches now. It was outright bones on fire pain before no matter how I had it on and walking without is impossible. I can get a VERY short distance and that's all. I'm wiped. I have very severe nerve damage due to diabetic neuropathy and a near fatal case of spinal meningitis when I was a kid. The source of most of my childhood disabilities. The diabetes later didn't help at all! from the elbows down and the knees down I can feel bone pain acutely. Other sensation, well I feel a little pressure and enough heat to let me know I'm about to get burned but that generally isn't until I grab the object. Now this last weekend and this week I have been feeling searing bone pain because the bones of my foot (mostly fused together) Have had a LOT of pressure on them and it was enough to make me moan and hiss. A person with normal nerve response likely wouldn't have been able to even put a little on it. It's a real train wreck in there! The Sunset Limited crash has nothing on it! Well, finally got the boot comfortable enough I can tolerate it. The doc wanted to try a larger boot but that didn't fly. It was longer and higher but it was actually narrower! I could ebven get the dang thing to start going on my foot! It was like Cinderella's stepsisters trying on the glass slipper! It just wasn't going to happen. Well, he gave me a prescription for Cipro to handle the infection. Once I got out of there I had to do some work on my van. I noticed on the way in that I had no turn signals. The flashers still worked but wouldn't lock when the brake pedal was pressed. That meant no brake lights. So I went in on flashers. One cop stopped me to see what was wrong. I told him and where I was going and that I'd be going to an auto parts store afterward. He said that was fine. Drive careful and keep the flashers on but get it fixed today. Nicket ticket, no bad attitude. I got away from as quickly as i could before he changed has mind. I already knew what the problem was but I had no time to fix it right then. I had done some work on the engine the previous day and when I put the doghouse back on I pinched a wire and the fuse for turn signal signals blew the first time I indicated a turn. It turned out the brake lights worked fine. The fuse was for the turn signal and backup lights. Well, that wire just hangs down above to doghouse and when I locked it in the wires insulation was cut and it grounded out on the metal cowl rim. That means the fuse popped the first time I backed up, which I have to do to get out my driveway. I located the shorted wire, wrapped it up well with electrical then taped it to a bundle of wires under the dash and well away from the doghouse.I put a small wire jumper in the fuse box for the short trip to the auto parts store. Bought a box of the required glass tube fuses (the van probably came over on the Mayflower), pulled the jumper and put in the fuse. All is well again with the fuses. I went the pharmacy to get my antibiotics and had my other meds refilled at the same time. I finally got home a bit after 6. Now I'm tired. That's funny, I was tired this morning and now I'm tired again. I guess that makes me retired.In case I don't post again tonight here's a photo. David will check on me later.

Toast and green tea please Zoe.
Tore out about a 26 inch stretch of track and roadbed just to the left of the waterfall and bridge. It was one of several areas that shifted when that side of the house sank and then was mud jacked. I have been trying to put up with it and up until today everything was operating over it, But, as of today a six axle U-boat and a couple of Walther's passenger cars started jumping the inboard track. So I new it was time. It is now all lined up and everything seems to be pleased and stays on course. I then cut about 1/2 inch off the bottom of my control panel as it makes it easier to push in and pull out a cabinet that sits below it. There just wasn't enough space to accommodate that. But it meant having to unwire and rewire a number of lines however it went pretty smooth and is another item off my list.
Back to work in the morning for a couple of days then a three day week-end off.
Jeff, It is good to see you back in the saddle again. You're a lucky man to have a faithful friend like David so close to you and to help out at times.
