Lee - I'm sorry to hear about your Mom's problems. It does sound serious and hope it can be taken care of.

Ray - The floor looks very nice. I'll bet it cuts down on the dust too. Are you going to have the other room painted to match?

Has anyone here seen the announcement from Norfolk Southern concerning the painting of heritage units to celebrate their 30th anniversary? Depending on what manufacturers in HO follow suit, and how well Norfolk Southern's graphic design people do, my future budget could take a big hit.

Not a bad day here so far. Low 30's, but no rain or snow in the forecast. The wife and I might do a ittle railfanning on Sunday. Although we prefer to sit on our folding chairs by the tracks and enjoy the fresh air and breezes, it's a little too cold to do that. So we will just sit in the car for a couple of hours and hope that traffic is up while we are there.

Have a nice weekend everybody.  Tom

Lee: Angel for your mother.

Good morning. It's 53° with thunderstorms. The high is projected to be 58° with more thunderstorms. Locally heavy rainfall possible. Chance of rain 100%.

Today's weather brings to mind that old Morton salt line, when it rains, it pours. And man, it's pouring this morning. On the radar map Vernon parish is buried under a sea of yellow, red and orange with some little black splotches for variety. Rather like some cooking I came across in Europe some decades ago. Beets and onions, with potatoes and beer for variety! Throwing in even a small slice of meat improved it immensely.

I don't think I'll be getting much done today. The storms are coming through one after the other and show no sign of letting up soon. I may be able to get some cars renumbered but weathering may be problematic as the humidity could make the Matte Finish do strange and not so wonderful things. Due to the storms I'll probably have to shut my computer down.

Oh my! Bless you! (walks in and hands Barry a kleenex) That's quite the sneezing fit. You coming down with what Ray has?

Just stopped in on my way back from the E-bay where I picked up a set of Goodyear racing tires. Um, little HO scale that is, or so they say. Should look good around the Pizza/bait/auto truck repair shop. I guess they'll have a race car too. Wonder what they'll run Hmm....

Good Morning!! Coffee and a ribeye cooked med rare, baked red potato with butter and sour cream, some sweet carrots, and a salad with Western dressing please. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 44.

Lee- Sorry to her about your Mother. I’ve never heard of that problem. I hope they figure out a solution.

Hey! the highlight thing in the post  window works today. Small things like that just make life more worth living.

Ken- I assume you made the meeting? I didn’t get a call so I guess things didn’t pan out with the time and all.

Today for me is undecided though I assure you not for long. As soon as the CEO gets up, all will be clear.

I wonder if the new stove was a waste of money or she just wanted it for a decorationHmm.

Good Morning,

Well due to family issues and the lack of ice on the lakes I’ve been pretty busy and haven’t been able to stop in the diner.   I hope everyone is doing well and I think things have calmed down enough for me to stop in on a regular basis.  My mother has developed an interesting problem; her fat is dying.  She has been in and out of the hospital with poor circulation in her feet so the doctors did a couple procedures through her arteries to clean things out and the problems were still recurring so they opened her left leg up and fixed everything.  When they went back to check on it she had a ton of dead tissue and they operated and removed the dead tissue.  Come to find out after 4 surgery’s to remove dead tissue when her fat regrows it dies after about a week.  She has lost 80 pounds over the past 18 months and it seems her fat is dying, a side effect of her leukemia?  She has another doctor’s appointment Wednesday and we will see what is going on.

Storms are passing through the western part of the state at this time. It's not too bad here but south of below DeRidder there are places that are really catching it. I expect some heavy stiff to come through later but I plan to be asleep before then. See y'all tomorrow.

Hi all,

Flo, a root beer float please?

Fridays are my day of rest as I worked 45-hours on top of work around the house and the 'hood.

I'm currently indulging a guilty pleasure of mine, watching videos on youtube that claim to show "real footage" of ghosts, aliens etc.

Grilled chicken and a Coffee while I wait, please.

***Jeffrey, stay safe and check back in when it's all clear. Good luck!

***Barry, any idea when & where that photo was taken? Reminds me of family camping trips and climbing on old RR locos. Well, I was to little to climb, but my older siblings all did.

Looked at a used 2007 Bobcat 331 excavator today. It had a divot missing from one track (2"deep x 10" wide), but nothing which would effect a vehicle with a top speed of around 3mph. Very quiet machine. Had 900 hours on it. Considering it for stumping and all the other potential farm projects it could do. Need to think about it awhile.

Hope y'all are having a good day. Ahh, I see dinner has arrived. Dinner Rob

The LION is back. This morning I came down here and there was no internet service. Rebooting, resetting, nothing. I called the telephone company, and they had a man out here to do some work, and eventually traced the issue to our router, which they replaced. Now everything works.

LION is happy. Happy LIONS are nice LIONS, and do not go around eating people they should not eat.

Good afternoon!  I had an interesting and somewhat hectic morning train.  I come around a curve to see a signal displaying Approach (reduce to medium speed [30 mph] prepared to stop at the next signal) and pick up my radio to call the signal to my crew just to watch it drop to a Stop Signal!!  Talk about heart and stomach fighting to get into my throat!  Thankfully I was running on a Clear at the previous signal, so I bring my train to a safe stop (which I was not able to stop prior to passing the signal, hence the hectic portion) and call the Dispatcher.  He gave me permission "from where I stand, by the stop signal in accordance to the rules.  THAT meant Restricted Speed for approximately 2.5 to 3 miles in territory I usually do 50... Train was 14 minutes down at its latest point, but I was able to get us back to only 9 minutes down in the end...  If I'd been able to get back to within 5 minutes, I would have been considered "On Time".

Hope you are having a better day than I, cause mine only gets better from here!!!  God Bless!

Sam

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

Right now it's 29F and Sunny on it's way to a forecast high of 38F.  Our major IT project kicked off last night as right now things are going smoothly (knock on wood!).  Still working on my new Rocky Mountain Empire blog bring online my D&H collection, today's uploads are all about HO Scale flarcars...

Extra strong coffee in a SUNNY & SOUTHERN mug, please.

***Sue, coytes are present, but have not taken anything else since that last goose attack & chase. I have been "marking" around the farm a bit. Also clearing more brush so the geese can (hopefully) spot a predator before it's to late. More I can do, just to tuckered out to tackle everything.

***"ULRICH", you out there? That's as loud as I can shout.

Have a headache this morning, undoubtedly from the antibiotic. It should pass. Looks like it will be in the 60's here, so time to open up the house. Have a good day all.

Mottomo kokoro no komotta ohayō!

Zoe, I'll have think I'll have the Steamed Rice, Miso Soup and Tamagoyaki this morning....  (THAT ought to drive Galaxy nuts!)  I would still like a cup of dark roast coffee though.  Thank you Ma'am!

"Where have all the MRs gone, Long time passing.....?"  I too am getting worried about Ulrich.  Do hope he is OK and it's just computer problems or something like THAT.

Sunny and 37°F outside this morning.  Won't get much warmer today so I will be lighting the wood stove in a few minutes.  I start to move shelving and furniture back into the layout room today (and I will be cleaning the lens on the camera....).  I need to get the other half of the basement cleaned and reorganized now.  I have items I can store in the WoodTex Shed out back, but I have to move out the rototiller and a few other things to get THAT done.  I is a bit like my LAte wife used to say, "You can't get there from here!"  Also reminds me of a music vocal pedagogy clinic I once attended which was titled, "Which first thing first?"  Guess I need to establish a Triority (the list of the three things that have to be done first) and figure out how to do this.....

Oh!  Thanks for the comments on the floor.  Yes, it is some kind of new water base paint they used.  Supposed to better than the old oil based floor paint.  harder and longer lasting.  Time will tell.  I asked him to use an earth tone paint and I think the color will work out fine in there.  The color you see in the photo is very accurate to what is there (at least on my Mac monitor, rated for direct to press for color rendition).

Better get moving!

Well no school today, its midwinter break. I still have to go to work, but its 28 and sunny out so I should be able to operate the layout, if I can find some time in between running and lifting weights.

Good morning. It's 52° and cloudy.  Expecting a high of 60°. Showers likely this morning then showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Chance of rain is 60% today increasing to 90% tonight.

A flood watch is in effect until 6 pm Saturday. Today I'll attempt to weather a couple more cars. I'll see about changing the numbers first. Humidity here is high and may be too high for the weathering powder to work properly. Too much moisture in the air makes it clump. It also has an unfortunate tendency to make sealer spray (Matte Finish) cloud up. Unlike Dull-Cote just spraying over it won't clear it. It just becomes more cloudy. Well, that's all for now.

Good Morning!! Coffee and biscuits and gravy please. Thank you.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.

David- Congratulations! Sounds like you have a great future. You are very lucky to have such an opportunity. Good luck.

Ray- Floor looks great.

Ken- Sent you a PM. Believe it or not, I know where Wabash is. It’s a big road so I know that one. At the risk of sounding inhospitable, all things considered, we’ll meet at maybe Hardee’s or McDonalds, I think there is a Starbuck’s (never been to one so I don’t look for them), somewhere. Or couple other places that are on the way out of town to put you straight shot back to 55 south. It T’s with 6th street so you can actually get back on 55 from two ways. It means nothing to you now, but you’ll see once you get there.

I know Lee gets busy sometimes so I’m going with that, but Ulrich reeeeally needs to check in.

At w**k today. It was very busy yesterday so I expect the same today. High is supposed to be 82 F and humid today.

Ray- Nice looking Floor. In the picture it looks reddish brown which would go really well with a PRR themed layoutWhistling

Garry- Nice scene last night.

Have to go. Everyone take care.

Train Master

We do not handle the machinery directly. We never touch it. We handle the paperwork that keeps the corporation running. Through years of working in the manufacturing and scrap metal business my dad built up a lot of ties between different companies and brought them together into an association where the companies work as a team to process old machinery and rebuild it or send it to the scrappers for shredding then is sent on for melting and reused to make new products. Old machines that can be salvaged are rebuilt/refurbished and sold. They handle everything from trucks to heavy steel structural members. This sometimes includes railroad equipment. Usually by the time they get it the stuff is good for nothing but shredding. I cannot tell you any more than that.
