Howdy ...

Ulrich ... I certainly hope you are okay.

Lee ... I'm sad to hear about your Mom's illness. Prayers for her.

Jeff .... Interesting about the map of your area. I had a rough idea, because I recall the KCS line was near you. ,,, The weathered car with the matte finish situation looks real in the picture.

Speaking of Google Earth .... Perhaps we should Google Earth to Williamsville, IL and join Todd for breakfast at Huddle House. Sounds like good food. Dinner

Stan .... I saw your post in WPF ... Great picture! .... I'm still interested in the one we talked about if you still have it. ... Feel free to visit the diner more often.

Ken .... You have a long story about the bank. Hopefully it all gets worked out.

Terry .... The swamp looks great!

Where are Duke, Inch, Jerry, and some other MIA's?

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf to warm me up.  I'll be in the back in my usual seat by the stove.

Got quite a bit done down cellar today.  Finished up the second workbench, cleaned up and sorted a lot of items and began to clear out the area of unwanted stuff.  Also even got to spend some time w*rking on the equipment for the Powerhouse (you remember the powerhouse I was making....) I have added some stairs and ladders in places, and should have some pics of it tomorrow before permanently gluing the second floor in place inside the building.  Still need to do some outside items like make a big sign naming the building and then install it on the layout so i can scenic around the area.

Just about time to call it a day.  Need to clean the kitties litter box, feed the wood stove, and then head to bed.  See you all tomorrow.

Jeff- Glad you told all of us. I tried Galaxy's hints and found  DeRidder and Alexandria. I know you also talked about going to Polk Army base so I was checking out those areas on Google maps but no Sundown.

Forget about finding it on a map. It's not on ANY map. All you'll find, if anything is the fire station.

 Evening Fellow Dinners.

 Flo, thank you dear. Beer

Terry one of the best swamps I have seen.

Todd Meeting was not with Bank Of Stupid but with a rep of IHDA. Acutely, Marcia works for Kingdom Community Development and they are handling the paper work for IHDA.

While she is a sweat woman, she does not seem to know a lot about my concerns with the help I am receiving.

1 Will I be taxed for the $19,215.00 hand out? My guess is yes, she did not think so?

2 In the agreement it states "If I sale the house for a profit in 5 years I have to pay back the $19,215.00. Put what is a profit? I paid $89,000.00 for the house 20 years ago, when the payment is made I will owe $59,000 on the house. So if I where to sale the house for $79,000.00 I would have a net loss of $10,000? Or would that be a profit?

While I don't plan on moving, it did make me wounder what would happen if I had to sale the house?

My biggest worry is Bank Of Stupid still controls the loan! Unless I can get them to modified the loan I am up Poop Creek! I feel they are a lot more likely to Foreclose with me owing $59,000 when I get behind. With the current position in the company I don't stand much of a chances making the current $974.00 a month payment. If I get a shop, I stand a fighting chances.

Heck, I was turned down the first time by IDEA, but I was still a MIT and my base was $40,000.00. If it was not for the 5 good pay-stubs I had to send in, they would have never approved the funds! They never asked for anymore stubs so I kept my mouth shut. Whistling

Well, time to fight the Japaneses! I playing WWII Combat Simulator Pacific Version again. Got to love the P-38 L, makes Zeros blow up real good.

Terry- Very nice swamp.

I built a castle in the swamp once. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. It sank into the swamp. So I built a third one. It burned down, fell over, THEN sank into the swamp. But the fourth one....stayed up.

Find Jeff? Everyone run to Google Earth? Ya, that's what I figured. Pretty heavily wooded so I doubt you'll see Casa El Jeff. BUT, you maaaaay see his parents house. All in all I don't think I'd be just trudging down there without prior knowledge of your arrival. Strangers are noticed I'm sure.

Just returned from the Huddle House (just like a Waffle House if you don't know). I have already been informed we will be going to a Breakfast Buffet tomorrow morning. Have any of you noticed something here besides me? We've had this new stove for 4 days now and it has only been turned on to make sure it worked. Still don't know about the oven. Not a pan has touched it. I'm thinking I could have just made a cardboard mockup for a whole lot less.

Jeff- Where are you on the weather maps you post.

On the map bellow, go halfway down the state. Go to the Texas line and look to the right for Leesville. Look NNW of Leesville and you'll see a tiny red dot. That's where I am. You won't this Sundown community on any map. It's literally so small you'll miss it if you blink real fast. The only place that has the name is the fire station. There's no store, no gas station, no post office, no church. To get to my road, take hwy 8 west from Leesville, turn right on Vernon Lake Road. You'll pass a scrap yard on the right and if you're looking real hard you'll see the fire station on a hill on the left. Presently you come to a fork in the road. Left goes to the spillway, straight goes to Huckleberry Lane. Go straight then turn right on Vernon Park Road. After the length of a football field turn left on Cable Loop. I live somewhere on that loop.

Oh, did I mention this is a redneck paradise and everybody has their own private arsenal?

 Curt Webb:

Afternoon All,

Jeff- Where are you on the weather maps you post.

Lion wanted to know too. Him Googled  "Sundown LA" and found that he was near the top of the boot in the middle state. Just about in the middle of that red splotch.

ROAR

That's not quite where he is, but i'm not telling.

There are lots fo red splotches there at the time of the map he shared. He is covered by some red splotch of one sort or another.

He DOES mention going to two places in the State often: Alexandria {where there is a MRR shop If I recall}  and DeRidder. He also mentions frequently which post Office in a nearby town he likes to use with no steps. And he has made no secret of being near the Texas border.

Those might give you some hints he oftens gives out freely himself.

Now, "WHERE'S WALDO"? Or "WHERE IN LA. IS CARMEN SAN DIEGO"???

Hawaiian Kona Coffee in a CSX mug please.

Eyes are buggy now that I have been perusing the new Google Earth areas of Hawaii we either went to or want to go to next.

The new enhanced Google Earth is so much clearer and has more info, though I would like to have more info as to what some buildings are. I guess maybe those strange robo-phone calls we get "for the manager of the business there" may be form the folks at Google Earth? wanting to know if we'd liek "to be on the map?" SOrry, no business here!!!

If you haven't downloaded the new improved version of google earth do so immediately!!!! And of course the first thing to google earth? your own house!!! How? Just google "Google Earth Download update" or somehting like that to get it.

We'd like to retire to Hawaii, but we can't afford to pay the bills now, let alone move halfway across the globe to a place where 80% hamburg is probably now $6.95/lb. Actually, it wasn;t that bad when we were there, but only for a week so the bills don't add up, and it DID cost us $2200.00 {2005 dollars}  to fly round trip, rent a car, stay in a townhouse north shore of ohau for 4 days and 2 nights in a hotel {cheap} in Waikiki/honolulu, buy food and go to restaurtants, the Polynesian CUltural center, Iolani Palace, Climb Diamondhead, buy souveniers, buy gas for the rental car, buy hawaiian shirts and ship home all UPS for the week. So at $2200, knock off the $1200.00 for airfare, and that can be expensive at $1000 a week! knock off the $200 or so for clothing adn another $100 for souvies, and we are down to what $700/wk? Of course if we bought somehting tehre it would be cheaper weekly "rent"...so maybe $500/wk to live there? Well, maybe..but that assumes we have paid cash for home sweet condo. Dunno, ANd there aren't many MRR shops there...*sigh*. OF course the condo would probably have less space than the trailer does, so may not even have any room for such frivolous things {he says with tongue in cheek}. FOund a few Mantal Helath places listed so I know where I can go to to find a new psychiatrist though. They seem to have quite a few of those showing up..wonder why so many "crazy people" there? {I can say that as I are one- and I have papers to prove it!!}

Finally found the "sweet spot" to place washing machine so it doesn't "walk" backward and crush exhaust hose. Now everything seems OK and the washer doesn't seem to smell of mustiness anymore.

Tweaked my back the other day..have been miserable since....can't get it to relax. See the pain center Dr next few weeks. Dunno if he can do much.

MOH has a cold chest cold that came form work??? Been sleeping most of these days off. Improving slightly, Id say. I hope I don't get it! I can't afford to get pneumonia again.

Well, that is all folks fo r now,

Steak, potatoes, fresh cut broccoli for dinner tonight. Aobut time to start that but MOH is resting now, will have to wait til up.

Afternoon All,

MOH and I are back from the show-and-tell with some of our skunks. I think it went very well. I decided not to go to the club today since I have already been standing for hours and I work tomorrow 10 AM- 6 PM. High is supposed to be in the 80's with rain off/on through the day.

Lee- I have never heard of that before but your Mother is on my prayer list and I hope her MD can figure it out very quickly.

Jeff- Where are you on the weather maps you post.

Terry- That is a very nice scene. How did you do the water?

Prayers for those in need.

ABC is showing Whitney Houstons funeral in its entirety right now.

Californias gun laws are obviously designed to make it so hard to buy a gun that people just give up and forget about it. Now I read that internet BB and pellet gun stores cant ship to NY city and its boroughs, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and no CO 2 guns to Chicago.

Sounds like fun. Wasn't there a bill in CA. to make airsoft guns all clear?

I'm just reading my book "Phase Line Green" today, too cold to go out on the layout. My book descibes the Battle for Hue (pronunced WHEY) from the veiwpoint of a Marine plattoon leader. It took them three days for his battalion to cross the first street due to the heavy fire and the stupid polticians telling them that they can't use heavy wepons that would save the lives of his marines. eventually they do use heavy firepower, but this is the Moral I take from the book. DO NOT LET POLTICIANS RUN OUR WARS.

sorry for my SoapBox

This is what can happen when Matte Finish 'whites out' due to high humidity. Note the KO&G car behind the L&A car.

JEFF,  I like a lot of your weathering. But in my humble opinion, I would like to see you do that green covered hopper over again.  It just doesn't look right ( my opinion)

No can do. The Matte Finish over spray makes the job permanent and it's there to stay. Most of what you were seeing was the flash exaggerating the effect of the coloring. This is what it looks like without the flash.

Ken- Not a problem at all. I did get some small quick odds and ends done I'd been puting off so all was well. Actually I was kinda concened that things "changed" after you got there and were in no mood for a social visit. Especially considering who you were dealing with and their past history. I'm glad that's not the case. Or so I assume.

"past history" Hmm that's kinda like sayin the same thing twice idn't it.

Oh Barry- Don't know who makes them. They are just 4 loose tires in the picture. No package. I'm not looking for a package when they arrive either. They are yellow letters so not that old. Maybe for slot cars? They may be a bit big (you know what HO scale means on Ebay..."sorta small. Must be HO") but for what I intend them to be used for they should be ok. We'll see. Let you know when they show up.

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagle with bacon and cheese and several cups of your finest dark roast coffee, Shite kudasai to arigatōgozaimashita!  You know I'm learning the language pretty fast......  What the heck was Barry trying to say?  Oh Swahili, I see.  maybe he is ahead for next month?

Ulrich.....  Now your getting us worried!  We don't like it when you are not around here....

Lee, my prayers for your Mother.  Doesn't sound good.

I see Galaxy has been into the sauce again.............

Tom, I'm not going to get the old room painted right now.  It had some kind of tile on it before we bought the house.  The tile had been removed and the floor has been painted a couple of times so no dust being generated in THAT room.

Jeffrey....  Droughts over!

We got some "Lake Effect" last night here.  Not much, a little over an inch I would say.  But everything is white right now outside.  It is jut enough to be able to look around the neighborhood and see who has good insulation in their roofs...........

Have a bit of moving and building (another new workbench) to do today, so I best get to it.

Later!

Well the idea of using dry transfers to renumber the KO&G cars didn't pan out. I've had these transfers since the 80's and they just crumbled as they were applied. So instead I printed some random sets of numbers starting with 2525 on ordinary white paper, some in 8 point arial, others in 6 point arial. When applied they look like black numbers painted on white planks attached to the sides of the cars. I'm sure the KO&G never numbered cars in this way but seeing as the KO&G never had reefers in the first place why should I be accurate. It works for me and that's all I need it to do. Car numbers are 2525, 2626, 2529, 2527, 2625.

 Morning Folks!

 Flo, Coffee please.

Todd Meeting ran long, did not get done to around 3:30 PM. I remembered you had to be at work at 4:30 PM so I was pretty sure you would not have time to meet up. But, I should have called and let you know what was going on, my bad.

Far as finding my way around Springfield, not a problem. I spent way to much time in that town. When I first moved out to this area I opened a shop in Springfield. Later when I worked for Midas, I had 2 shops up there as well.

Sue now wants to go back and do some sight seeing, so we may have a chances to meet again. Drive was not that bad, 82.5 miles.

Time to go to work, six days straight! Sigh

Whistling

Good Morning Gang,

Here I sit at work on the week-end again,   AAAaaaaggghhhh  Pheew..  Oh well,

I guess all I would have to say is "I QUIT"  Maybe someday soon.

It looks like Galaxy must have had a bad night as he is stuttering quite bad this morning   X4.

Chloe when things settle down a tad,  I'll have a Double Denver with extra bacon,  I have to keep my Cholesterol level up, doncha know..?

LEE,   Blessings on your Mother,  that doesn't sound real good.

JEFF,  I was never really aware of how much rain your part of the State gets, it seems like it is almost daily.  Keep the rubber boots on my friend. I like a lot of your weathering. But in my humble opinion, I would like to see you do that green covered hopper over again.  It just doesn't look right ( my opinion)

Good Day Ulrich, where ever you are,  hope all is well with you and Petra.

I was out at the LHS looking for McHenry coupler conversions for some Riverossi passenger cars yesterday, with no luck. I have some #53s at home but I need longer ones for a couple of cars. Guess I will have to order them in from cyberspace.

Well not much to share today, just thought I would wish you all a great long week-end (President's Day, I believe)   Enjoy it Fellas and Gals.

Catch ya all later.

Johnboy out.....................................but not about, just sitting here and observing and reporting. Confused

We have met the enemy,  and he is us............ (Pogo)
