Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me right.....  Huh?  barry has the tab?  Well in THAT case, I better have a slice of the Pecan Pie over on the counter...  What?  Oh, Blood Sugar, just took it.... 107!  (Glad as last night at this time it was 170.....!)

Managed to get quite a bit done today.  Ran off a document I am taking with me Saturday to a gentleman (MMR) who will do a drawing of the Octagon Blacksmith Shop I want to scratch build.  i have several pages of photographs with some building measurements on them.  I have my own CAD program here on my computer, and I can't make heads nor tail of it.  All the documentation I got with assumes you already know how to use a CAD program......  I also built another #6 turnout for the rework of the track I want to improve.  I'll be taking the one I did a couple weeks ago at the Batavia Show and the one I made today as examples of what I am doing for the Models Corner at the RIT Show Saturday and Sunday.  http://www.ritmrc.org/tigertracks/  I hope to get a couple more done this weekend at the show.  The one I did today is the first I have done from Memory...  Went well, think I remembered all the steps in order.

My sister in Canandaigua called tonight to let me know that a very close friend of hers (the lady that did all the world trips she has been on) passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer.  She was a very kind, gentle person, and will be missed.

Hope you all have a great night, prayers for all in need!

Good evening all.  Just a quick stop in before heading off to bed.  I haven't made it in the past couple of days due to my just being plain old tired.  Not much to say on my end of things, overall everything's going well.

Ray:  On the issue of your catalytic converter not fitting properly, other places would have just cut yours out and welded the new one in.  As far as the truck running with the different cat, it would have run, but the "check engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light would have come on as the catalytic converter would be performing differently from what the vehicle's computer "knows" is the right thing.  Good job on building the turnout and I know what you mean about CAD programs, I don't know enough about them to really be able to do something with them, and most of the programs are written for someone that will/would be doing that stuff every day.

Ken: I don't blame you at all for going by the book, how else are you as a manager, or shop foreman/service writer, etc going to make money and justify you having a job as well as your technicians unless someone follows the rules.  I do have a question though, don't the tech's get paid by "what they turn" (i.e: they only get paid for the hours billed out on jobs, so if they have a brake job that bills at 1.5-hours, then they get paid for that.  If they don't do any work then they should just get a minimum wage check (that's what all the techs in the shops I've worked in in the past have been like).  if that is the case, then it would be in their best interest to check every single vehicle that comes in.  Perhaps you should remind them of that little fact that they'll get more money in their pocket if they actually DO THEIR JOB!  Ok, ok, enough ranting for me about that.

Welp, that's about it for me, I'm turning it in for the night.

GOOD MORNING!  Well our Grandson #2 finally decided to join the rest of us about 6pm last night. He didn't want to come out on his own so they had to cut him out but all is well.. His name is Cash Cook, and he is perfect according to the reports I have received .  Well I gotta hit the road. see you all tonight! Sue, I will fill you in on my layout later i'm running behind today. Thanks for the suggestions.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a couple glazed donuts please. Thanks.

A chance of flurries before noon. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 32. Light skift on the ground, barely enough to tint the grass. That’s enough for me. It’s sn*wed this winther. Er…fall.

Not much to say really. Not much is going on. Like I said Floor Wars Williamsville edition is on hold until after Sunday’s big Pampers on a Chef party, so I’m pretty much just piddling with odds and ends.

Gotta w**k tonight and maaaaybe I’ll get into the train room if not just to straighten stuff up. Once again, it’s a mess and that’s trouble with a capital “T” and that rhymes with “P” and that stands for POOL!!!

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good morning, Chloe.  Just a coffee, please.

Yesterday, I went down to our rockgym and set a route before going to the play.  Today is the wreath party, which has changed to just one lady coming out.  If it lasts an hour, it will be because we are talking too much.   The office Christmas party tonight is the last in series of I am doing too much.

Congratulations, Thayne.  Proud grandpa.

Strong coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

***Thayne, Congrats on grandson #2.

Need to return my early christmas present to myself, as it has a problem. Perhaps that is what I get for buying it on the-bay. At least the vendor will make it right.

Have a good day all.

Good Morning fellow Modelers!

It's 16F with Fog this morning but who cares, it's FRIDAY!!!!!!!  Got more video tapes uploaded last night but will a ways to go.  Had this old camcorder since 1999 so lots and lots of tapes to get through.  Weather forecast looks to be good to finish up the X-Mas lights outside this weekend.

Good morning. Oatmeal and OJ, please.

Rob ... Glad the Ebay vendor will make it right. I think the model railroaders on Ebay tend to be better people than the general public. ..... You reminded me. I need to get inspired enough to sell some of my stuff I no longer need.

Thayne ... CONGRATS! for grandson # 2.

Our 2 year old grandson was visiting in recent days. We had the wood trains (Brio, Thomas, etc.) all over the floor with an elaborate layout.

 Morning from the Midwest.

 Flo, coffee please.

High today is going to be 36 today and low 13 degrees. Yep, it is starting to get cold here in IL.

Bama I understand to a point why they don't want to take the measurements. If the brakes look good, I won't try to sale them brakes so why bother. Ones they start prejudging what will they miss next? Shop is down 25% for the year, but inspections are not being done right. Now if the inspections where being done right and the shop was still down 25% that would be a little different. So while I am there, my tickets will be done right.

Mechanics are paid a % of parts and labor. A Mechanic with no ASE's get 16% of the repair, if they have 3 ASE's they get 18% and if they have 5 or more they get 21%. A brake job with new rotors, and pads would be right around $320.00 X 18% = $57.60 to are normal tech. About 30 minutes in work.

Go in today at 11:00 AM, and get off  at 6:00 PM, I like bankers hours.

 See you all later.

Sue ... Those are interesting pictures you posted in "Show Me" of the NP 4-6-2 being worked on. I'd like to know more about that. ... Watch out for Jarrell in that thread. He'll say something to you because it's supposed to be models only. Not prototype.

Good morning. It's 40° and cloudy. The high is due to be 55° with some sun and clouds.

Got a call from the docs office yesterday about some kind of paperwork that had to be signed. They wouldn't tell me what it was. Went there this morning to see. They say it's a prescription review and since I'm out of doctors visits for the year I have to pay for the visit. That's nearly $100 I can't spare. Since January is only twenty-two days away and my doctors visits are reset then I told them it can wait. After it warms up later today I'll get started on applying some decals to the containers that came with the well car. A general dusting and some signs of wear should do for the weathering.

***Jeffrey, don't feel bad, I have no medical coverage of any sort now. Cobra was rediculously expensive and I couldn't see paying those amounts for any period of time. Besides, figure they can't do much for me (that I can't do on my own) anyway.

Slow getting going this morning...coffee refill, please.

BC/BS costs us about $600. per person per month... or $7200 per year. You can buy a lot of medical for that price, and any hospital will set up a payment plan for you. So chances are you come out ahead by paying most medical out of pocket. When a hospital knows that you are out of pocket, they will try to keep the charges much lower.

Rush Limbaugh does not have medical insurance. But then with an income of $52,million per year it is mostly a moot point. Still, they gave him the cash discount when when he said he had no insurance. Go figure!

The original bridge was built in 1872 and re-built in 1903.  Around 1925 the oil lamps marking the navigation lights were converted to electric. New pier protection was installed in 1948 and 1952.  Believe it or not; several railroad bridges in this area were built by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, they never owned the bridges or operated over them, they just built them.  I cannot find the builders sheet for this particular bridge in my file, it may in book form at the other end of the cabinet…

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a couple eggs over easy, bacon, and a whole wheat English Muffin along with a cup (or3) of dark roast coffee to get me going this morning.

Got up this morning, looked outside, and everything was white out there..... A couple hours later as I look out it is mostly back to looking green on the lawns.....  Lake effect sn@w is kicking in for the season around here.  Not talking any significant accumulations yet...  The weekend should be good.

Today will be get everything checked and packed for RIT this weekend.  I also should run the vacuum cleaner as the place is getting a bit rough, so to speak.

Have a great day!

Good Morning All,

Visible and measurable snow on the ground in Euclid…

Jeff, that’s a great picture with the apple trees along the tracks.  RR Employees were known to toss apples, peaches, and pears out the windows as they traveled down the rails.  Some of those seeds took root over the years.

Todd, she took over the Auto repair business from her father when he passed away.  Down E200th Street there are 8 auto mechanics, so they all have to be competitive.

Darren, I’m sure I have it; I just haven’t learned to use it.  I have the Corel Draw full suit X13, with the video authoring suite.  I just haven’t had time to bust open the books and figure out what I’m doing yet.

Tom, I’ll have to check it out…

Thayne, Congratulations on grandson #2 !!!!

Thanks for the tip, Garry.  You know me, I won't respond.  "What ever", but I will keep it in mind for future posts.

Edit:  Even better, it is a 4-6-0 not a 4-6-2.

It was sitting in the shop at the Topenish NP museum.  We were chatting with one of the caretakers, and he took us on the extra tour.  These are cell phone shots since we were on the motorcycle.

Grilled chicken w/ steamed rice and sauteed mushrooms, please.

Went tractor investigating today. This time to the Mahindra dealer. Looked at their 4wd 5530 & 6530. Big price jump between them for 10 hp difference. Looked like real basic, heavy weighted tractors. #1 best seller world wide, so they say. Tires are tall and narrower than competitors. Wonder how much more damage they leave behind? Both models have F/R sychro-shuttle, which after seeing demonstrated at John Deere is a must have. I use a loader a lot, so makes sense. Both come with loader and cost a fair amount less than similar J.D. versions.

Still have Kabota to look at. Case is just far enough away, I question how smart it would be to buy from them, incase something breaks down.

And so this is also a train post, I tried in vain to catch up to the motive power pulling a freight train today but traffic got in the way. I could just hear the horns blowing as it crossed intersections, which was still cool.

I'll be in a corner booth awhile. Rob

 Evening Folks

Flo, why is the dinner so slow? Yea, you might be right, that pile of Lion droppings might be turning people off. Anyway Beer and clothespin please. Whistling

Ever had a day that started great then turn to a big steaming pile of stuff I cant say here at the dinner? Well that was my day today. $1300.00 ticket to start with and then things just went down hill from there. Found out the hours I work next week, only 38 hours so I think I am now on a salesman and base pay is pretty much a joke.

On the bright side, I did get a call last night from a old employee that has done well. He owns a chain of auto repair shops now that is structured like Midas. Think I can get a job with him as a manager. I am about done with the current job, if I am only a salesperson then I cannot fix what is wrong in the back of the shop.

 See you all later

Thayne:  Congrats on grandson #2!!!

Good Evening

We had s**wfluffies all day today..and never saw even 1 inch of it on the ground..except this morning

This morning was strange..shortly after I got off the pooter the water started looking kinda rusty..I went out to the front and what did I see? A small geyser had appeared right where they replaced a pipe last winter!!! Bang HeadGrumpy...so...my day was spent running around elsewhere due to 6 hours of no water...again!!!    ...then again...we could be somewhere else in this town...where there are semi-permanent closed for construction signs around..and constant fix and repair..

So, as said, there was little choo choo running here today....Sigh

Chloe, I'll have a coffee and a cream cheese bagel please..I'll be at the corner booth catching up on the news here abouts...

Evening All,

Not much happening this way. Went out to the LHS today and I also bought a couple gifts. I finished the duck pond and put the new couplers on the 2 passenger cars and ran them for awhile today and did a video of my passenger train. I posted a pic of the pond on WPF.

Tomorrow I will probably end up at the club in the evening, I don't think there is anything else going on at home.

Everyone take care
