Floor Wars:Williamsville Day 3... Welp all is going well, slow but ok. Not in a real big hurry, but I don’t want to dilly dally either. Brenda has informed me I have until next weekend to get her house back in order because her Pampered Chef thing is next Sunday. Sue, you like PS, If you happen to be free you’re more than welcome to pop in. Aaaanyway. Lost a good chunk of yesterday due to her calling me to help her at her Mothers, but that’s ok. Oh man I hope California Tom is ok with all the stormy winds and power outages and such. Welp, best get crackin on the floor. Like to get most done before w**k tonight. Then Brenda wants to go shopping tomorrow for a Christmas tree. I don’t know why she needs one NOW. She does that though, gets you started on a project then decides she wants you to go do something with her, then talk about how long it takes to get things done. I admit I’m no Speedy Gonzales, but I sure don’t need any help to slow me down.

Our CZ trip of about five years ago took us to the Moffat Tunnel. On the way there we passed several freight trains on sidings including this BNSF train. It was a steep grade all of the way to the tunnel.
Grandson and Son In Law are here from Michigan, and I'm spending time with them of course.

Good morning. It's 39° and mostly sunny. The high will be 68° and it will be mostly sunny.Yesterday morning I took my fathers Mercury Marquis (older of the two they have) to the GM dealership in New Llano so some handycap equipment could be removed from it. It's being traded in on a Chevy hardtop convertible. My mother wanted a BMW but my father (predictably) told her it would be a cold day in h*** when he bought her one of those. So she settled on the Chevy convertible. The only problem I can see with it is that the space between the console and the brake pedal is tight. I can barely get my walking boot to the gas pedal and I'll be the one driving the car quite a bit as my mother can't drive due to health problems that make her a hazard to anything on the road. My boot is five and a half inches wide and the gap it has to fit through is five and three quarter inches. So I told my father yesterday it needs part of the brake pedal removed. Either that or find somebody else to drive her to where she needs to go. If I know my father (and I should, I've only known him for like half a century) he'll get that brake pedal modified so I can drive the car to take my mother to wherever she needs to go for virtually nothing rather than pay somebody to do it. The man's a classic cheapskate and will find any way he can to keep from spending money. Now the fun (depends on your point of view) yesterday started when I got to the car lot. I removed items that my father wanted (Rotary Club plate, sunglasses, paperwork, a couple of blankets, etc) then told the salesman I needed to see someone about getting back some of the money taht had been spent on the extended warranty. It still had two years left on it and that amounted to a couple of hundred bucks. The woman I would have to see about that was busy with a customer but it would only be a few minutes. It would have to be as I had more important things to get done before noon. A few minutes turned to fifteen, then thirty then forty-five. All this time my niece has been waiting for me outside. She was my ride home. Finally the customer left the office and I started toward the door paperwork in hand. It had been close to an hour now. Before I got to the door she called in another customer. That tore it! No way was I waiting around for another hour or more. If my father wanted that warranty cashed in he could darn well do it himself. I had my niece take me back to my parents place where I had left my van earlier. I told my mother what had happened, left the paperwork with her and went about the business of getting gas for my van (took eighteen gallons to top up a twenty-four gallon tank ($55.78 at $3.099 a gallon) then getting two bills paid, buying the groceries and getting back home. I still have to reimburse my father for paying my electric bill and car insurance. After that's done I'll see if I have enough left to send a couple of things out.

Coffee in a SUNNY & SOUTHERN mug, please.
***Jeffrey, sounded like quite a day you had. BTW, nice little Southern loco. Bet it is not DCC.
I forget who posted the steam train wreck, but it is now on my puter screen. Thanks!
Didn't sleep well at all last night. To cold to wear the Cpap mask without total rain-out, so have been going without. I suppose winter will not be getting any warmer, so time to start looking at wood stoves.
Have a good day all.
Rob
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe I'll have a breakfast Bagel with bacon and cheese... Blood sugar was 77 this morning so I guess I can boost it a bit with a bagel. Oh, and don't forget a cup of that fine dark roast coffee you have in here. Put it in my R&GV RR Mug please!
Barry, glad to see THAT Jeffrey was able to salvage THAT Mogul THAT got itself derailed.....
A dark and gloomy day here in the Finger Lakes. Currently at the high for today of 38°F outside. Calling for sn*wshowers this afternoon. They say "No significant accumulations....". Guess THAT means I should be able to drive through the drifts with no problem.... I have to pick up my sister's lawn mower and take it in to be fixed for her before she puts it down cellar for the winter.... This year I will try to get her to run it dry of gasoline beofre she stores it down there with her furnace and hot water heater....
Have a full day of odds and ends to get done, so I best keep moving.
Later!

Good afternoon, Zoe - yep, just turned that on my way here (though it isn't yet p.m. here in Denver). I'll have a BLT and a RBF, please. Thanks!
Sorry for my absence from the Diner for way too long - have been having the iMac waaaaaayyyy tooooo s-l-o-w lately (like even opening an application gives you time to go to the stove and fix a cup of instant...), and the iMac is what my more portable (iPod Touch) is tied to, so haven't been able to sync it for several days. Have run antivirus program (for a while, but haven't had time to just let it run-and-run-and-run), and nothing turns up, but I'm suspecting possible design flaws on this particular model, based on some online searches. So that has been taking up more time than I would choose to spend. My almost 11 year old PowerBook (lately) runs faster than the much newer iMac does. Very frustrating! Thinking I may have to learn one more time how to dig into the innards of this computer or else try to back up, totally wipe the hard drive (all 230GB's) and re-install the OS (and all the 'fun' of updating from that).
Not as much progress on the MRR stuff, except some bits and pieces of w**k on the pine tree project, and some stuff on mostly done structures to get one or two of them 'done'.
Continuing the for all that I know of Diners' needs for comfort, healing, good night's sleep/rest, and relationships. Keep me in yours as well, please.
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape G.

Apparently I overdid it yesterday with the household chores I did.
My back and legs are screaming insults as Jeffrey would say.
Also the weather is turning so that could be the reason I hurt so much.
Did a few little chores today adn that was enouhg to do me in. SO now I am hobling around.
Oh well, the pain meds aren;t really working either so I think it is hte weather helping me feel so hurtful.
Well, you All have a good day anyway!!

Ran some errands, including pricing a wood stove, installed. Only thing I would need to do is build the platform it sits on. The guy explained what to use, etc. and it seems something I can still do, providing I have everything needed in the dungeon (workshop). Otherwise, large pieces of anything really won't fit into a Camry. This will near the top of my To Do list.
Very tired today. Rob

Good Afternoon
We got some sun, some cloud and a bit of the snowfluffies today..and we did not even get to 38F..it sat at 35F all afternoon.
Anyways...Ray...I actually had a brainstorm, I know, me? a brainstorm?...I am thinking of taking some old code 83 track here and seeing about whether I can sort of jury rig up something close ot that jig I was thinking about
JimRC: You might want to check with your ISP as well..it sounds more like a ISP issue there as well.
Chloe, I'll have a RBF and a couple of scoops of butterscotch ripple ice cream please....

Hello Fellow Dinners!
Flo, Beer Please!
Boy I was missing home, and the dinner. While it was great to see Steve again I was ready to get the heck out of KC!
Was the trip worth while you ask? Yes and no. I did learn some new things on the computer but it was the same old stuff. Steve was kept busy doing his job and had very little time to spend with me.
Looks like I will not be getting a store in the near future and i am find with that. I am way behind on today cars so I need to learn more. You cannot led if you have to follow. Case is point. While I was at Steve shop I had a customer with a 2004 Ford F-350 4X4. It needed a Tie Rod End, to me a tie rod end is about 6 to 8 inches. Went to the NAPA site and there it was. But below the picture of the part I ordered there was a bar that looked 4 foot long. Hum, that could not be a tie rod end so I ordered the other one. Well you guessed it this Ford F 350 could either have the normal Tie Rod or the 4 foot long tie rod. Our cost on the 4 footer was more than the cost of the normal tie rod end. I did get some added markup on the correct part so we did OK.
Well, I will talk at you all later, I have some NCIS to catch up on.

Spoke to my neighbor (with the trackhoe) and we'll get together late next week to look at some projects I need help with around the farm, like the pond pipe, leaning trees, etc... While he has his backhoe up here, that would be a good time to burn off the giant mounds of tree stumps from his last visit over a year ago. Would be good to get those burned up.
Not much else to report on. A bit quiet in here this evening.

Evening All,
Got the Christmas tree up today and we will decorate it this weekend. I got the "water" down, the fishermen up and ground cover around the water and on the rock field. This weekend I want to redo the couplers on my passenger cars (10) to long shank. Should be some real fun.

Salt & vinigar chips, please. Seem to be hungry tonight.
***Curt, GREAT pics there!
Well, three naps and dinner later, I feel just "ok".
Supposed to warm up this weekend, maybe that will fix that.
About time to call it a night, though, maybe sleep good tonight, I did NOT last nihgt.
G'nite
It's time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Hello everyone! I made it through the week gonna go downstairs and watch the DVD that MRR sent me then I am gonna get to bed. I want to get up early and work on my layout before my club meeting across town at 3pm, I will see you all tomorrow!
Thayne,
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a decaf for me please!
Got about half of what i should have gotten done today done.... Picked up my sister's lawn mower and took to the Mennonite place that repairs them (Very well and very reasonable, I might add). Resized about 40 photos from members of the NMRA Division we will be putting up at our new website, and did a few other odds and ends.
I have yet to bring up the electric candles I put in the windows for the Advent and Christmas Season. Might get to THAT tomorrow (or Sunday afternoon....). I haven't put up a tree in at least 15 years (maybe 20). Right after my wife died 25 years ago it was a very difficult time and putting up the tree just seemed to make everything worse for me. The kids were grown and i decided why put myself through putting up a tree just for me. I have given most of the beautiful hand made ornaments my wife made to my sons and their families.
I have to be at the a scout rechartering extravaganza tomorrow by 9AM..... have to be there to wait in line, sign my signature twice, listen to all the wonderful things that are going on in the district, and then go back home.... May get a doughnut out of it though...
Got a couple photos of the stationary steam boiler I have been putting together this week:
Best call it a day and head out to catch some It will be an early morning.
Good Evening,
Say it seems I'm all alone here, everyone has gone home to bed. Thanks Chloe for keeping the place open this late.
Not much new here in sunny Winterpeg. In fact it doesn't really feel much like winter here yet as the temps have been just below freezing most of the week.
I have all the mainline track of my N scale layout down and now I'm working on deciding how the sidings will go. The turnouts are in but I have to decide if I'll put in a few sidings from them. I didn't solder the rail joiners on the flex track. I tried but the rail is so small and the rail joiners too so the solder didn't flow well into the tiny spaces so I just put in more feeders. I hooked up the command station to each set of feeders to see how far down the track the current was good. I guess I put in enough feeders as it was constant all around. In fact I put in 9 and this is just a door layout with a twice around over/under. Before I finalize the sidings I have to finalize the industries on them. I'll have at least 3 besides the freight terminal.
I did order myself one of those new Bachmann FA2s with sound as they come in CN green and yellow. At first I told myself that it was a Christmas present to myself but truthfully I would have ordered it anyway.
Well getting very late and Chloe has started to turn off the lights, so I'll say goodnight.

Good Morning Gang!
Saturday! Hopefully a day for rest - I am exhausted. The week has not only been busy, but quite nerve wrecking. My boss and designated partner has invited a friend to join in and she is a very troublesome person, to say the best. Within short time, she has managed to bring anybody up against her, including the banks and the customers. A month´s job is blown up in the sky. I have a hard time to stay calm and considerate, but as of today, I see this not coming to a good end. I will have my partner and his wife over for dinner on Sunday, just to talk about things in a relaxed atmosphere.
Seems a if I won´t be having a job by next year.
Not a good start into the holiday season.
Saying I don´t feel well is a gross understatement.
Have a good weekend!
Edit: Curt - I like your pictures of your layout!
CNCharlie - I prefer not to solder rail joints, but to add a sufficient amount of feeders instead. NS rail does shrink and extend with changing temperatures and it is better to have some gaps.
Ray - for the boiler!
Galaxy & Jeff - take care, buddies! You are in my thoughts.
Ken - i hope your job situation improves soon. Keep pulling for you!
Prayers for those who fell victim of the storms in southern California.
