 Morning Folks!

 Flo, Coffee please.

Go into work today at 10:00 AM, wonder how the traffic will be with it being next to the mall?

Christmas will be slim again this year. Sigh Forgot all about having to get the plates for my wife's car this month. With buying a car for my self, plates and title for it, battery for Sue car, her plates and then the Vet Bills I have spent some where around $1800.00 on things other than paying normal bills.

Ulrich Sorry to hear there is no way to straighten the company out.

Curt Sorry to hear about the club member passing. You meet a lot of good people at train clubs.

Well, I see you all later.

               Ken

Plus Sue has told all her friends we where buying them good presents this year. Sue still seems to think I won the lottery with this new job.

Here is a tree from the LION (in case you did not see it in the other thread)

Everybody on Sub Chat *knows* exactly where it was taken, and I suppose Mr. B does too, but frankly, I have forgotten.

Letter from SS says I'm getting a COLA increase of $24. About time. They used every excuse in the book to deny increases for the past two or three years while the cost of living increased.

Hate to rain on your parade Jeffrey, But if you have Medicare taken out of your Check before you get it, the COLA is a moot point, as the higher cost of Medicare will eat up your increase!!!

I never get a COLA letter...i just see a raise in my check,,assuming Medicare hasn't eaten all or part of it up. The check on the 4th wednesday of the month {based on my Birthdate} is for the previous month. SO I will actually have to wiat til the 4th WEd. of February to find out what new amont, if any, I will get.

Next will come recertification for Medicaid in March to take effect in may...THAT could also go up and cost me more, because EFFECTIVELy I got a raise in SSD..

Coulda knocked me over with a feather and colored me yellow with chartruese polka dots when I got a letter saying I'd get a $130.92 REBATE check for medicaid from Nov {out of the $172.00 a month I PAY to have my Medicaid coverage..it AIN'T FREE to everrybody  ya know} ...as I didn't hardly used any services so they refunded the unused portion!!! I may get a check for Dec. ans I have barely used any services as well...one can only hope? Maybe not....

Well...enough Crying, Bang Head, SoapBox

Columbian coffee in a BURLINGTON NORTHERN mug, please.

***Ken, isn't it amazing how fast bills can add up! Need to catch up on the books here but might wait until I have extra B.P. meds before tackling this. It can be a shock to see how much is going out. Down to 1 mortgage left here. They won't take my $$$ until I get through probate, because my name wasn't on the original doc.. Seems crazy when you want to pay something off and can't.

Slow start here this morning. Had to run down to the barn to dance with some coyotes around 4:30am and it took awhile to get back to sleep. Those little critters are quick as Houdini with their disappearing act.

After all the farm chores are done, will head down to the train room to see if the thick sheetrock mud stayed put or sagged during the night. It will take a few days to dry completely before proceeding with adding extra "junk" and painting it.

Going to sit in the corner booth a spell. Rob

Good morning!! Coffee and the Sunday buffet please. Thanks.

Been busy the last couple days and snuck in this morn to catch up. Breezed through the posts so if I miss anything please forgive me.

Almost didn't post, but Ulrich got me thinking. I sorry things aren't going as hoped, but soem things are not meant to be, and some things are, in my opinion, a test of sorts. Ulrich you are doing just what you should. You've past up an oportunity to gain materially at the expense of your, dignity, your ethics, and your morals. You have proven that wealth is not as important as those things most  important. You are a man who is to be admired not pityed. You have gone from a man on the top to somewhere lower on the ladder. Notice how I did not say bottom. You will never be on the bottom. Why because on the ladder of life where the things that truly matter are, you are solidly attached to the top rung, and the respect you have from those who care about you is immense. At this time of year, it should be remembered that it is not the cost of the gift or the amount it costs, but the gift itself that matters. Our first gift, the gift we celebrate, cost us nothing. Came to us unwrapped and in the poorest of surroundings. But yet it was the greatest gift we have ever recieved. The gift of love. Give that gift this Christmas. I'm sure that is really the only gift Petra cares about.

Gotta finish putting the trim back in the bathroom, then reset the terlit (toilet for most of us but for Ray and G's sake, I thought I'd spell it phonetically) then the bathroom is...ready for this...done. Yup completely. Not just almost, but completely. Unlike most other projects I have.

Have a Great Day!!!

Good morning Everyone! I seem to have come down with a cold. I have  been pretty unproductive this weekend. It really ticks me off I sit in that old truck all week long thinking about all the things I am gonna do on my weekend and now the weekend is almost over and I have not got much accomplished.  I did get my Christmas shopping done yesterday that has to be a new record for me....  Well I am gonna run to Home depot for some screws. Then I am gonna do some work on the layout while the wife is at work. I got the house clean and now I have the rest of my Sunday To goof off.

Dennis, That sounds like a fun trip. I hope you Have a great time with your Family!

Coffee refill, please.

Got the hay in the barn and headed into the train room. The sheetrock mud stayed put and is starting to dry. Might find something else to work on down there later.

Safe journeys to those traveling. And healing thoughts for those in need.

Afternoon folks!

Zoe, I'll have a nice hot cup of hot chocolate please.  I'll be unwinding a bit by the stove in the back.

Today was the Sunday School Christmas Pageant at church during the late service.  My #1 Granddaughter was one of the lambs....  She was great...  Turning into a real sweet young lady she is!  The little one was removed from the service (by her Dad) just as the pageant started as she insisted she needed to be in the middle of it even though she is too young to be in it....... Smile, Wink & Grin  Takes after her aunt I think.

Need to do some quick shopping and then I will be going over to my son's house for a Birthday party for his BIL.  Unfortunately my son won't be there until late as he has to w*rk this afternoon.  He was supposed to w*rk all day (12 hour shift) but got somebody to cover so he could be in church.

Catch you all later!

I hear crickets in here. Where is everyone?

Took a trek into the smaller section of future pasture, across the creek behind the house. Man, there is a LOT of down tree branches and stuff that will need to be cleaned up. And that's before the stumps can be removed, as they are hidden under everything right now. Sure looks like a lot of root-grapple work. Beginning to think a 60HP (minimum) tractor will be required for such work. It had better be mighty sturdy considering how much of this work is on a hillside, too.

Did not made it back into the train room this evening. Getting tuckered out for much of anything now.

Have a good night all. Rob

The LION was in his train room too. I had four trains running all at once. (Making proper stops of course!) I also mounted some Tortoises at the Prospect Park Interlocking. When that glue is dry, I'll mount some more until all eight machines are solid, and then I'll wire them.

I was also working on my PCO system (Power Cut Off switches) for you non-traction types. There are 14 bush buttons around the layout, and pressing any one of them breaks the relay circuit stopping all of the trains and the clocks and timers as well. Like a master pause button. They can only be restarted from the tower. But that is a draw-back of automatic operation. Sometimes you need to stop the whole thing to fix something, and you might be nowhere near the control tower.

In theory the PCO system works, in practice... Eh? Only two of the buttons are working. I glued the buttons to the fascia and that seems to be causing a problem. I'll have to pull each one out, clean it up and return it to service so that they will work the way I want them to work. The button locations are illuminated with blue LEDs to make them easy to find, just like the prototype!

Evening All,

Flo could I have a decaf please.

MOH and I got back home at 4 PM today after our skunk trip to Jax. The critter should be in her new home in SC now. When I got home I cleaned ground cover off 4 small square areas where the signals are going after Christmas. I made and painted 4 bases and drilled 2 holes for wires then my rechargeable drill died so the other 2 will be done tomorrow. I should get the wire I ordered tomorrow, and if it is early enough I'm going to cut it to length that I need and tin the ends.

Last night at the club a English gentleman (here during the winter) gave me 2 old time passenger cars. They are probably from the early 1900's time frame. They have metal wheels and KD couplers and look really good behind my 4-4-0. I offered to pay for them but he wouldn't hear of it. What a nice gift. I was looking for the manufacturer but can't find a name.

Jeff and Lion- Your Christmas trees look great

Everybody have a good night and prayers for those in need.

 Hum, anyone here?

Flo, wake up, I like a Beer please.

Pretty boring day today at work, only 10 cars in 9 hours? Ricky played nice today so I did not go through with writing him up. Seems Dave did call them as soon as I called him. Why stir anything up at this point?

Going to assemble my last Blue Box Hopper kit. Sigh I do miss Blue Box Kits.

(yaaaaaaaaawwwn)

Good Morning!! Coffee please. Thanks. Hm. Looks like I fell asleep in here last night. Stopped in last night and then Brenda came in and wanted me to cut her another piece of trim cause the first wouldn't stain due to the built in polyurethane coating of which she says she will not buy again, and I got up to do that and forgot I was online. Imagine that..... Me.... Forget.

Well let’s seeeee, what’s the weather…Rain likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 51

Oh you have GOT to be kidding me!!! Really? Rain? Really? Today? Of all days? SighI guess it’s the way things go for me. I'm supposed to pick up the wood floor material today. And yes, after noon sometime. Figures. A truck full of wood flooring that will have to be hand unloaded…., and it’s gonna rain. Hasn’t rained for a while now, but NOW it’s gonna rain. And for the next THREE days. And you wonder why I don’t gamble. I guess I shouldn’t complain, after all Christmas is in less than a week and it’s barely been below freezing yet and now sign of …(gulp)..sn*w. BUT STILL! Really? Today?

Churchwork this morning then clean up around here and wait for the call from Lumber Liquidators saying come and get it. Say, I wonder if they deliver for free?

Speaking of Lumber Liquidators, not real overly impressed as to what they claim. Prices are about the same as Menard’s and Lowe’s, they just claim lower prices. When we were shopping for the laminate flooring for Mom, they did have flooring priced less, but it was cheaper flooring too. Actually, they are more expensive for comparable materials. It appears the same for wood. I’m not knocking the place, everywhere has their budget line, and we'll include them in our shopping. But it just kinda irritates me when a business claims to be selling you at such huge discounts and really they’re the same or more than most places around. Sorry, pet peeve of mine.

Well, as usual situation arose with the setting of the toilet (terlit). Didn’t get the tile in one spot close enough on one side to the drain. THAT elicited a response heard around the town I will say. It at least got Brenda from downstairs and up to the bathroom tude sweet. (that was Spanish by the way). Missy was a bit concerned as well. But, got that fixed with a minimal amount of "can't you do this's" and "can't you do that's" and "well I'm just trying to helps" and of course a couple of the usual, "I just wanted to see's". Now have to go into town and get a new wax ring before THAT can be done as hoped for last night. Other’nat things are well here.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good Morning All,

So I’m on the last page of my 2011 calendar; worried that the earth will end when the calendar ends.  Thankfully someone anonymously sent me the new Model Railroader calendar.  Thanks, now I have another year to plan MRR projects!

We received 3” of snow this weekend in Euclid, Slavic Village received almost 7” and it’s still on the ground.   Today it will be a blistering 44 degrees and should melt the snow off.  Rain for the next 3 days with temperatures around freezing, might make some interesting commutes to and from work.

Jeff, if you don’t want to mount a box McHenry makes the replacement couplers for the Rivarossi locomotives and passenger cars that have a pin the coupler snaps onto.  You could insert a machine screw and snap the McHenry right onto it and avoid mounting a box if you’re concerned about space and clearance.

That is a cool bus, where did you find that???

Southern Traction; I just read an interesting article that honey and cinnamon on your bread or bagel is supposed to help clear arteries and better manage diabetes.  I don’t know if that’s true or not …

Ulrich, it’s better to stay away from the not so honest.  I’m sure something great will come your way soon.

Garry, all my DC friends enjoy running on my DCC layout, their just too stubborn to admit its more fun.  My GF bought me a DCC system a few years ago and I love it.  The transition was easy since you can connect the DCC to your layout and still run your DC stuff.

Curt, I have one of those cars in my collection, mine is a Rivarossi. All it has on the bottom is made in Italy.

Morning All,

Getting ready to go out and get a haircut and get gas in the truck for the work week. It's a bit chilly here this morning although I don't know the temp. Need to drill 2 holes for my signal placement. I always hate drilling through the layout now that the scenery is pretty much done.

Lee- Thanks for the info on the car.

Talk to you all later.

That's good to know but I'm not a McHenry fan. I got the Kadee #5 mounted easily enough. I didn't need it to pivot so just clipped the end off and super glued the shank into the hole I drilled out (dummy coupler was cast on). The bus was made by Johnny Lightning. Found it at Wal-Mart many years ago. I changed out the toy wheels with wheels and axles from a Boley GMC truck.

Good Morning fellow Modelers!

It's 29F with 1-3" in the forecast today.  Picked up a 2TB External Drive over the weekend and started compressing all the AVI files I generated from my old Video Tapes and putting a copy of them on there.  Should have all 996 GB of files copied over to it by Tuesday night.  With that project nearly wrapped up I got my Georgetown Loop Trip Report going again yesterday.

My usual bagel and coffee.

Saw a Zoie Pizza and sub down in NC. Wonder if it has any connection to this diner??  Spent the week end helping my daughter move. That is a long story i don't want to get into.   Another beautiful day in store here in central-southern VA. need to get in some wood for the week, usually do it on Saturday, heat the house with a wood burning furnace in the basement.

Honey and Cinnamon, has possibilities

Haven't been upstairs to the RR since last week. Have enough on my plate to keep me bust for a couple days down here.
