Good morning. It's 46°F with patchy dense fog. The high will be 70°F and it will be mostly cloudy. The well car is finally done. Time to move on to another project. I don't have anything planned for today but I'm sure something will come up.

TMarsh I remember when Jeff first showed that car. (chuckle) Ah yes, some guy called him on his “overdone weathering” saying it wasn’t prototypical. Jeff of course was quick on the draw to show the proto which as you can see is…well, nuff said.

Stong coffee in a AT&SF mug, please.
***Jeffrey, nice work on the container weathering.
***Barry, that plow looks like something from Road Warrior, although a much slower version. That thing looks like it was modified with serious intentions in mind.
Farrier is coming out to trim some horse hooves today. I'm very tired, so probably won't get much done today. Rob

Flo, Coffee please, think I will have a BLT as well.
Well I am off today, thank goodness. Yesterday was one of the most messed up days I have had in a long time. I started to talk about it last night, then the wife came out to the garage and wanted to talk. So I end the post short.
Messed Up Tickets While I am not fast, I have no problems cashing out tickets that where written probably. Yesterday it seems only 2 out of 3 where done right, and they where not done by me! Seems Tim (sales person) is very sloppy about writing tickets, uses wrong codes, confuses front and rear of vehicles etc.
Had 1 ticket that I was cashing out showing we used 3 pairs of brake pads on the front of a car? Hum, bet it stops real good! He used brake pad codes for the rotors for some reason. Another customer ask about her front brakes when I was cashing her out. Looked at the ticket and it said we replaced the the front brakes? Turns out we did the rear brakes, but was written up that we replaced the front brakes! Of course I had all ready cashed her out, so it was not easy to correct the mistake.
My favorite was a customer called to see if the Honda was done, there name was Norton. No paper work on the board for them, no work open work order in the computer? Did a history search, while I found other cars we had worked on for them, no Honda? Had one of the Tech's call Tim (he was off now) and he told him I Erased The Ticket? You cannot erase a ticket on this system! I came in at 10:00 AM that morning, so If I did erase the ticket when I got there, how did the work still get done? Think someone was trying to make some side money if you ask me.
I could go on and on about what a mess yesterday was, but it is over.
Today I get to mess with Bank Of Stupid! VA called me yesterday, yep my loan is modifiable at any point I was behind. Do not have to be current like I was told 3 weeks ago. Boy I am using the banging head thing a lot to day!
See you all later!

Todd, I think like you. Might just as well repair the old girl and be driving something that I have owned since it first came off the showroom floor than gain payments on a used one that i have no idea how it was maintained....... I'd like to get another 10,000 miles out of her. THAT would be 11 more years at the rate we use it now. My son borrows it now and then, and I use it to haul firewood and anything else I can't fit in the Yaris. It also is the vehicle of choice to pull my little trailer, and my son's boats around. The rest of the time it sits in the driveway......... Basically it is the spare vehicle in the family.
Lion, only cats I have seen around here are my two 20 pounders, and the little old tri-color (19 years old) kitty of the neighbors.
[edit] Ken, now you know why I take my vehicles to reputable places even if it may cost me more up front.... Do hope you are looking into the other job possibility!
Need to do some grocery shopping today and pick up some Rxs at the drug store downtown. Hope to be able to spend most of the day in training.
Later!

Just got the news that my parents phones are working again. It's about time. I called it in to the company Friday so they Friday and Saturday to do something about it and nothing was done. Yesterday I was about to blow my stack so I called the company again and went to the top. Finally somebody got off their butt and did something. A tech turned up yesterday and '"took care" of the problem. We'll see how long that lasts.Tweaked the voice on my computer a little more and now it sounds more like Peter Ustinov.

I thought THAT would get your attention........ I've had several vehicles undercoated (aftermarket), used to be standard practice with vehicles up here. In actual fact it not only didn't negate it, in some cases it made it worse. Most dealers no longer do it as it isn't worth the $$$$ to have it done. They now do something at the factory that seems to help........ Or so they say.

The AC electronic sensor started to fail awhile back so when you needed AC the most it would not turn on. Then the Driver side Bucket Seat broke and I had a brace holding it up so I could drive from the front rather then the back. The final kicker was the engine gasket failed and Preston went into the engine with unknown damage to the internals. All repairable but at a cost way above it's worth and with our age/health it was getting tough to get in/out of with it's low profile. Plates, Emissions and Insurance were all do in January which meant it had to be operational so junking it made since before putting another dime in it.

Young Mr Parks had a slight accident when he was helping he perform preventive maintenance on my van. He had just checked the tranny fluid level and was putting the dipstick back in when the radiator fan clipped one of his knuckles. Luckily it was only a glancing blow and just took some skin off. Not serious but I bet it smarts. He was lucky. It could have been much worse. I had put a new fan and fan clutch on it last year. I warned him about the fan when he raised the hood It's not like those electric ones that you disable by unplugging the relay. As long as the water pump is turning the fan is turning. Like his parents say, he'll be more careful next time.
Evening Fellow Dinners.
Flo, I take a Beer Please.
Did not do much at all today. Laid on the couch and watched the History Channel for a good part of the day. Did a lot of thinking about the current job, and not good thoughts.
Have not powered up the trains yet today, that is odd for me. But, I watched a lot of videos on U Tube about HO layouts.
Well, that all I have to say about that.
Yes, I learned my lesson. That hurt! I could see the edges of the fan as it was spinning. I could look down and see the edge at the side of the radiator and guessed at how close it was to the dip stick. I guessed right when I pulled the dip stick out but miscalculated when I put it back in and I got tagged. I blame nobody but myself. It was due entirely to my own carelessness. Next time I may paint the tips white so they will show up better. That was a trick used on prop driven aircraft in World War 2.
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
As soon as I find some white spray paint I'll paint them myself. Yellow may be better.

Evening All,
Not much happening here since I am still at w**k tonight. It is trying to decide if it wants to rain. The highs all week are supposed to be around 78 F. MOH found out here surgery will be on 3 Jan. I have already taken that week off to help her.
Jeff- He learned a safety lesson cheaply. Sounds like he was lucky today.
Everybody have a good night.

Janie just a ...... Oh thank you Ma'am, how did you know?
Got to spent about an hour in the train room today..... Was hoping it would be more. Kept finding other stuff THAT needed doing. Tomorrow I have to wash clothes, and since the washer and dryer are both in the room next to the train rooms, I may have more success!
Think it is about time to trun in for the day... To what, I'm not sure!
Prayers for all in need!
Well...really early Good Morning
I'll be having a decaf with a breakfast bagel this morning..think I'll take it to the RC for a bit here.

Good morning. It's 56 and mostly cloudy. The high will be 71 with variable clouds. There's a 10% chance of rain today going up to 40% this evening.Nothing on the layout front today. I have to be at a Christmas dinner at noon so I'll be leaving here a bit before 11:00 this morning.
Hi guys
I see only two of you wondered where I have been.
I was sick for awhile and had a few migraines {every bloody time the weather changes} and just did not feel like posting. I've lurked a few times, but just didn't feel like posting. I only checked my email and thats about it.
Nothing has really happened lately in my boring life to post about, so...
I have the pulmonologist today...just an appointment to verify That the increased pressure on my CPAP machine has eliminated my snoring and stop breathing episodes, which it has. SO easy appointment, except for the weighing proceedure. I think I have gained aobut 10 pounds and their scale I swear adds 5 lbs to anyone anyway.
There will be no orders to SAnta from this household this year. We have the battery and wheel kit for the generator as our early Chrismas presents, and we both got some much needed new winter-type clothing so those are our presents. NO train stuff this year
WE got our HEAP application in last week finally. We won't hear to January, but expect to get teh full payout they allow again.
With food prices going throuhg the roof, I think we will have to apply for food stamps! WE are spending WAY too much on the food for the two of us. MOH is a skinny-minnie and eats like a horse {still like a teenager}, I could stand to loose a few, but when my sugar drops...I need to eat something.
WE are making headway on paying off the furnace {with a few gifts of cash form my father} so we might actually get it paid for before the 6 months accrued interest hits us if we don't get it paid off by then. That is fortunate, because that money going to the furnace payments SHOULD be going to pay other bills. Furnace works fine, we are happy to have heat. I had a disagreement with WELLS FARGO BANK over the financing...they started charging my account interest BEFORE I signed the loan contract and BEFORE I got my first bill...which came 7 weeks after installation!, but it WAS after the furnace was installed, so they will claim they could charge me...At teh "friendly rate" of 30% APR!!!! SO what they finally agreed to do was to extend the "free if paid by..." date by one month. Whoopie! Istill think there was a little hanky-panky going on there...but at least they did something. I will NEVER voluntarily do business with WELLS FARGO AGAIN!!! They are a rip-off. The account is ahome-improvement cash advance off an approved home-improvement visa with a high limit...I can use the visa as a card if i want..BUT ALL interest for ALL purchases is at the "friendly rate" of 30% APR!!! I will cancel the account as soon as the furnace is paid off and have NEVER activated the card...I will cut it up and send it back to them to close the account! WHat A rip-off! ok now the can go away...WHew!!
We are hoping MOh's hours at work don't get cut so severely {down to 12 hours /week} this Jan-MAr, as we really can't afford that,...but I have a feeling they will be cut. People splurge on holiday cooking/food so a grocery store does good sales, but just like any retailing, people cut back Jan-Apr on buying, so we have hope, but no expectations...They WILL be opening the new store across the parking lot formthe old store when they are finished building it...so MOH may get offers of OT to setup/stock shelves during Jan/Feb and they hope to open it Feb. 14th...for Valentines day...the only big floral holiday they have.
It is slowly getting colder here. The 45* days are now chilly 45* days, nto warm ones. The ground top has frozen so the next snow we get will probably stick and build. We are expecting rain form the massive strom making its way across the country now...being in the 40s, it should only bring rain, but tehn THAT will freeeze and I won't get the Kia doors open again..makes me mad about that...but don't get me started on TAHT topic.
WEll, I guess thats about it on my boring life and that is probably too much for anyone to know.
KEN- sorry your job isn't working out so well...I still think they are setting you up......
Jeffrey- thanks for thinkng aobut me. You coulda sent an email, I probably would have answered it...
to any NEW MEMBERS!! Someone suggested I post the rules as I do periodically. The rules here in the diner are simple:You can tgalk aobut anything in your life and it doesn't have to be railroad related like all the other posts. Steer clear of "flame topics" like religion, politics and anything else that will start a flame war...like "WHich DCC system is best?'". Don't use profanity here,.,,this STILL is a "family oriented forum". AS my mother always said "you can find another way to express yourself", even if it is STRONGLY WORDED PHRASING.. you can post pics here...but because the size of this thread grows....our hosts DO prefer they are RR related and only one or 2 pics per post, please! Guys have been called on the royal carpet about posting non-RR related pics, or too many pics! If you get teh top of the page posting it your "job" to "pick up the tab" for the diners posting on that page! SO get out your "credit card" for thje wiatress....write a GOOD check or pay cASH for the meals that follow! DON"T FORGET teh TIP!!! Our wit staff appreciate ti and a good 15-20% is common as hte service and meals here ARE EXCELLENT. The food is always great teh way YOU like it, and the service is impecable!!!! you can get , , , , and any you want any time of day!!!
Special thoughts and prayers and blessings for those in need!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!
I will shut up now and retreat to the corner booth and have teh breakfast special...on wetidler!
Good Morning!! Coffee and a nice order of creamed chipped beef on toast please. Thank you. Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 58. Jeff- Nice job on the well cars and containers. And yes, there used to be a law exempting GVW’s from emissions laws. As the years went by, they lost their exemption. I don’t believe there is any difference now, but their actual requirements are different. Not that we could tell though. David- Ouch! Boy you are lucky you still have fingers. My thought is, unless it’s the transmission dipstick, why is the engine running? Say… anybody heard from Tom in California lately. He’s been having some troubles you know and now he’s gone quiet again. Undercoating. If it’s not done at the factory, I wouldn’t waste my money. Past experience speaking. And yes, I do mean past. I do not know of newer procedures, but it seemed the aftermarket undercoatings usually rusted out first.

Well, learned something yesterday. Laid ceramic tile before so porcelin should be the same right? Well NOT exactly. The stuff laughs at carbide. Oh yes. I have to have DIAMOND stuff to cut porcelin. Luckily, my tile cutter works..... Mostly. I have trouble cutting narrow pieces. Below 3inches has yet to be achieved and I need five 2 ¼ pieces. Had to w**k last night so Brenda went into town and picked up a blade for the angle grinder and a drill bit that says it’s for ceramic, but she says the guy says it will do porcelin as well. We’ll see here shortly. (Gotta watch Ziva first )
Best get hoppin, Ziva’s a callin. (puuuuurrrrr) Though I won’t be enjoying Christmas Dinner in a mess hall….oh excuse me. DINING facility….I will be eating BBQ brisket at the Hickory River. Actually, very good BBQ.
