Well diner is over and the dishes done. Beef medalions wrapped in bacon, tater tots {gotta have 'em once in a while!} and beans 'n carrots. along with garlic texas toast.

No turkey!!!! But I did clean the bird to bones for boiling to make turkey broth,,I think I will do that...maybe not.

Disappointed our female cat, who just LOVES pop-pop's turkey!!! She knows she gets no plate to clean if its  a turkey sandwich, boy did she glare at me and later at MOH when we had turkey sandwiches earlier!!!

Well that may signal food coma and time for a nap again.

May even call it an early night,,,usually watch at least half of the Suze Orman show at 9 pm...but tonight may be in bed then, even if I nap now. {can't blame it on the turkey now}.

Gotta clean up and service the table top christmas tree layout for the tree,, but tired now and have things to do first. Then we can run trains inthe LR!!!

Happy B-Day Again RAY!!!

Evening All,

Only thing I did on the layout today was glue down some WS figures around the layout. We took my Mom out for her birthday dinner at a Mexican place she really likes, then everyone came to the  house for cake and ice cream.

Tomorrow we have to go grocery shopping at Wally World then I will probably run trains for awhile. I have a time trade to do on Monday so Sunday is the end of my weekend.

Everybody have a good night.

the Canadian Pacific Musical Christmas Train was supposed to be in the COnklin Yard tonight. Forgot all about it, then again, parking would be a nightmare and handicapped plates probalby don't get one anywhere near closer. It will be on the news ad nauseum on the 24 hour local news channel Time Warner Cable provides tomorrow.

Well Meds are taken, Suze Orman  is on {commercial now} and I am learning what NOT to do with my money IF I had any.....LOL.

So It be time for bed soon soon!

Good Morning,

better to stay inside today! We have a bad storm heading our way - just in time to blow our little Christmas market into bits and pieces. I am afraid there won´t be many people going there this season.

Janie, a big Sunday breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, hot cakes from the griddle, OJ, buttered toast and lots of coffee, please.

Jeff - I really do like those little scenes on your layout!

Chris - the "new" beetle is very much a different car from the "old" one, more of a sports car. The top engine is a 200 hp turbo motor, ready for the race track, err, Autobahn. I am definitively not getting this one.

Galaxy - have a good nite´s rest!

Barry - I still remember seeing steam tractors and steam rollers in the late 1950´s/early 1960´s. Looked very much like the contraption on your picrure.

Well, I´ll be off, doing nothing. I will put up the shelf with the help of my friend between Christmas and New Year, so all my MRRing has to wait for that.

Have a good day!

Good Morning,

OK, I think I have everything caught up around the house and at work, sorry for my absence from the diner…

Happy belated birthday Ray!

Jeff I threw a few things in a box for you and mailed it out Friday morning.  Watch for it on Tuesday or Wednesday.

OK so just a quick recap of what I’ve been doing:  The windows in my computer room were ready to fall off the house on their own, so I had them replace by Champion.  I really couldn’t afford it, but they gave me a 5% military discount, 20% discount for not financing for 5 years (I did the 12 months same as cash option), $400 discount for posting a Champion Window sign in my yard for 4 months, $250 discount for referring my parents, 10% off coupon from the newspaper, and the salesman just happen to find a spare $250 off gift card in his sun visor.  This prompted me moving everything away from the 3 outside walls of the computer room.  I knew the computer room had solid oak floors, so I removed the carpet and cleaned up the floors.  Now the room has a light oak paneling, oak floors, and new windows.  I had 3 huge old bookcases and decided to remove those and to replace them I bought rough sawn white cedar planks and wrought iron brackets with a Celtic twist design and I have shelving around the room for my books and stuff.

Work went crazy; I’m managing the removal of 5 old RR bridges, rebuilding 2 swing RR bridges into hydraulic lift bridges, adjusting the opening schedule of 9 bridges, replacing navigational lights on 30 bridges, and building 1 new rolling lift RR bridge,  in short I had 85 projects I had to keep an eye on.  It made the days fly by, but didn’t leave much time for anything else.

Thanks. I'll be watching for it.

Ulrich: Thanks. Someday I'll get around to putting some figures in place.

Good morning. It's 48° and cloudy. The high will be 52° and it will be partly cloudy. There's a 30% chance of rain this morning. The projected low tonight is 32°.

I may get a couple of small weathering projects done today. Other than that only general maintenance is planned. It's too wet to do anything outside as it rained nearly all day yesterday and into the night. Not heavy but enough to let you know it was there. As my father calls it too little to do much good but enough to make you mad. I didn't sleep well last night so I may grab a nap today.

Ulrich:  Nice to see you!! I, too, remember when they had those steam rollers and such around..my great uncle had a farm north of here that, at one time, had a Case 30/60 steam tractor that he used to go threshing with...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good morning! How is everyone this Sunday morning? It is still dark and Cold here so I will wait for the sun to pop up before heading down to my shop/man cave. Yesterday I went down town rail fanning with a friend of mine. Union Pacific had their steam locomotive 844 in Salt lake. WOW was that something to see and hear! I think I still have some of my hearing left? After the Train chasing  we returned to my house, Scott Perry a Life long NMRA member and a heck of a nice guy. (He just moved here from Atlanta) came in and looked over my layout progress. He is going to help me with my track design. It was the first time he had seen my bench work and he had a lot of good ideas and good comments,  That made me happy and gave me a little boost that I needed. I worked on the layout for the rest of the day. Well the sun is coming up I better get moving! See you all later! P.S Happy #65 Ray!!!

Good Morning!!! Sitting here in Texarkana, TX on Brenda's computer.Cowboy

RAY! Happy B-Day Sorry I missed it yesterday but I wasn't around.

Think today we'll zip on down to Marshall, a town I'd say was founded by my family if it were up to me, but it wasn't. Wanna check out the T&P station there. Won't be able to get out and go inside as we have Missy with us. Brenda says we should get one of those service dog handle things and we can take her all over. I said what, and tell them we got her cheap? Discounted because she graduated bottom of her class? If you've ever seen this lump of fat on a leash, you'd know what I mean.

Aaaanyway, gonna get movin. We will leave for home Monday as of now.

Let's see how this works. This has the latest IE on it. So far I see no issues. Here goes. (clicks post)

Extra strong coffee in a  AT & SF  mug, please.

***Thayne, I envy your experience with that U.P. steam loco. Nothing is as cool as live steamers. That's a long move your friend made from Atlanta.

***Barry, that would be a neat little loco to run around a farm. Just add a dump car for putting out hay.

***Lee, sounds like a lot of home improvements. Also sounds like you had good results. As for the 85 projects, good lord man! When do you find time to sleep?

Cold and rainy here.

Have a good day all. Rob

Good Morning All,

48F and cloudy today. Back in the shop, got my chores done and a bit of layout time yesterday. Bit the bullet and blanked off the window in the middle of one side of the layout. Found mold in my can of drywall mud so need to get more (don't fancy putting black mold up on the walls after all the cleaning done rehabilitating the space). Finished cutting the backround sky off the Duquesne Printing backdrop pics I salvaged from the last layout. Need to get more town backdrop pics - about 12' worth.

Jeff - the package should have been there a week ago. Monday we will do a tracer. I feel badly it's dragged on so.

Ulrich - the problem here with VW is the assembly plant in Mexico isn't up to snuff. Daughter had a Jetta from there that was one issue after another. Not a good experience. When I w..ked for Porsche/Audi, the engineering was good but the electrics on the Audi suffered from lots of QC problems. We would tell people privately to drive the car until it blew the first fuse and then trade it in! That was in the 70's.

Lots to do again today to get ready to load tomorrow.  Catch y'all later, J.R.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the old person breakfast, A small glass of OJ, large bowl of fiber one cereal (hate that stuff - it is impossible to swallow), and a half a cup of.....  Hmmmmm.  Never mind!  If THAT is what old means, somebody else can have it! WinkWhistlingLaugh  I'll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, homefries, and a double order of the sourdough toast and a large pot of dark roast coffee!!!  There THAT's better!

I'm up and awake.  Slept in to well after 10AM this morning I did.  Woke up at 3AM and couldn't move my tongue....  It was glued to the teeth....  Mouth was completely dried up and nothing worked.  Took a couple minutes to break the tongue loose manage to get saliva flowing again, then go to the little room down the hall and empty.....  I must have been mouth breathing, my nose was completely stuffed up.......  Anyway, I am back to normal now (whatever THAT is)?

A nice gloomy, dark, dull Fall day here in the Finger Lakes.  Currently 55°F outside with a high of 63°F later this afternoon when the sky starts falling.....  Yep Liquid Sunshine from over Barry's way will develop today.

J. R., the last VW product we had was a VW Bunny Rabbit that was my wife's car.  You probably remember it was the only one to burn a mix of gas and oil (about a 50/50 mix I think)...  That was the only complete piece of junk we ever owned as a car...  She bought it new, and within weeks all kinds of problems started showing up.  Amazing how many didn't seem to be covered under the warranty.  It had blown fuses, clutch that was defective, quit from time to time all by itself (some of those great electronics), and one day the oil cap came off all by itself and we had an engine fire.....  Lucky i was able to hit it with the fire extinguisher we kept in it and put it out.  When we moved to Geneva, my wife decided we had enough of the piece of crap and decided to get a different car.  Just for fun she went to the VW dealer here in town.  He tried his best to sell her a new car.  She asked him repeatedly why we should buy another VW?  He kept raving over all the newest models.  She finally pulled out a 2 inch stack of repair slips for the Rabbit...  I should have had a camera on me to capture the look on his face.  She then told him what he could do with his cars, got up and walked out...  Next car we got was a Dodge Omni Miser.  It actually could get 52mpg, and was a very dependable car for us.  It lasted until after my wife died.  Son #1 inherited it and drove it for about 4 years after she died.  He was dropped off at the house by one of the service guys from the Chrysler Dealership after he had taken it in for an oil change (once every 4 years was about right for him).  I asked where the car was, he said he had gotten called in to see something while they had it up on the lift....  The guy pointed to an empty spot in the front, and said, "Ah, that is where your suspension system is supposed to be......"  So we did a switcheroo where Son got my 1987 Dakota with the 4 banger, the miser got traded, and I ended up with a 6 month old V6 Dakota with a super slop tranny in it (was a factory use truck and came with a full warranty).  Hated THAT thing and a year later I got the '93 Dakota which was a great truck (and had a 5 speed manual).

Hmmm. Guess I wrote a book here this morning...  Feel free to ignore me.  Most people do.

Later!

Good Afternoon,

most of the storm seem to have by-passed us, but the day´s not over yet. The coastal region sees a lot of damage, though. I am glad we are quite a distance from that area.

Ray - never heard of a VW burning an oil/gas mix over here. The early Rabbits had rust problems, but so had all cars in the 1970´s. I also remember that vW had quality issue when the started to produce the Rabbit in the US.

VW is now regarded as a premium brand, at least when it comes to pricing. You need to layout about $ 28,000 for a beetle nowadays - Sigh

Janie, a mug of hot cocoa, spiced up a little, please - that should warm me up.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I'll have a cup of hot chocolate to tide me over to the party this evening.

Ulrich, I don't recall whether the Bunny was made in the USA or Germany, but there was a major class action suit about the oil burning.  Something about they were able to save a few bucks per car by using some very cheap rings in the motor.  Ours was burning oil badly within 6 months (about 8,000 miles!) of when we bought it.  The bugs on the other hand, would keep on running forever....  I always carried a screwdriver and a crescent wrench in the trunk along with a roll of duct tape.  Could fix almost anything out on the road..... LOL.  The last bug I had was the first new car I ever owned.  1971 Super Beetle.  Cost $2,160 IIRC.  I put an extractor exhaust on it which boosted the HP 20%.  I used to do wheelies with it in the parking lot of Chemung School way back then.  A couple of my students though it was really "cool"....  They had the last name Bodine, BTW Smile, Wink & Grin

Just finished renewing my Boy Scout Youth Protection online.  They have now added a section on cyber bullying and how to deal with it and how to report it!  Best upgrade they have put out since they first started requiring the Training!

Now I'm going to get started updating the financial records for the MLK Committee.

Later!

Hi Ray. Belated Happy Birthday.  I still have our '93 Dakota and use it everyday. Turned 100,000 last month. After Andrew wrecked our '89 Daytona , Deb got the truck. V6 is strong and fast.

Have you seen and heard a Japanese band play "SING,SING,SING" ? Silver 60 sent it to my E-mail. Darn good.

Saw Mike [inch] is back. Missed the pixs from his window.

Not much to say. Still driving the w/c van.Up by 4:15, get home between 1730and 1840, kiss the dog and pet the wife, have dinner, hour of tv ,hit the shower and then its feather-ball time. Can't complain as at 75 having a job is a good thing. Only drawback is,I'm up at 4:30 whether I'm to be at work or not.

Prayers for all.

Flip

Darn, nearly forgot- Curt- Is a T1 in brass and can motor worth $400 ?????

Coffee refill, please. And I'll try some of that Chicken Soup, too.

Been feeling down today. Perhaps the cold dreary weather is playing some role. Except for the wind chimes, it sure is quiet.

Trying to do a little more organizing and cleaning inside. Not much else to say.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Greetings. LIONS have been off chasing wildebeest. Fortunately, the wildebeests were in the train room.

Mostly been doing =soldering on my new control panel. Who knows, maybe by next weekend I'll have the whole thing running again, and I can start thinking about cleaning up the room.

That is one of the problems being single: I have no wife to clean up after me.

Oh well, I guess we cannot have everything, eh?

Good Evening All,

Getting ready to head off for home. Perhaps to get some train time in tomorrow if things go better than they did today. Nice to see both Paul and Flip in this weekend.

Got the Judd V-10 in the Pescarolo fired up - better than going 1000 miles to find it won't. Has all the gears as well so we're set except for final fitting of the driver and some vinyl graphics.

Ray - LOL on the 2 stroke beetle. Our Jetta mixed oil into the coolant despite our best efforts to stop it. That and the exploding automatic were highlights of its' tenure here.

Lion - you're not missing anything. Methinks the days are long gone when the missus would clean up after me and certainly never ever the train room. (Hate to think of what would happen if she did take and clean up "all that old junk"). Might turn me into a wild beastWhistling

Gonna roll - see y'all later or tomorrow.  J.R.

Good evening Everyone!

Well the only thing I was gonna do today was work on my layout, The only thing I did not do today was work on my layout....  I got busy first thing this morning ended up cleaning out our fireplace and then I got out the leaf blower. I cleaned up the yard and washed the car and truck. Also I cleaned up some tools and put some pegs on the pegboard in my shop. Then I hung some tools up. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself.  I hope every one is warm and dry with a full belly. As for me and my dog snoopy we are tired of TURKEY!

Rob, That big old steam locomotive was AWESOME!!!!! I have never seen anything like it. My friend took some great pictures of me next to the loco. I joked with him after he sent them to me. I told him somethings wrong with your camera it made the train look skinny and it made me look fat....   I am sorry that you are feeling down today. I hope you get feeling better. keep your hands busy, that's what I do. when I am busy I don't think about all the other B S that is going on.  Take care
