Time for me to head for the bed. I was in pretty bad shape today after all that time in the heat yesterday. I've been feeling tired all day with little strength in my arms and unable to walk without bracing against the walls, counter top, layout, etc and still falling to my knees. I hope I feel better in the morning.

Evening Gang: Another record breaking day. One of the weather persons has predicted a break next Friday. Says it will only get to 99F. That may feel cold enough for a jacket. Not much else to report so I may as well head for bed.

Evening all.  Just stopping in and catching up on things.  Today was a bit of a scorcher!  High was 101 and head index was up around 110 easily.  We had a brief 10 minute shower right around midday, which didn't help at all considering all facts.... Oh well, things were good otherwise.  On the train front I've been working through my milepost designations for my MRR so that I can have a better idea of how to stage things on the levels on the layout.  I know it might sound funny to be doing all this armchair MRRing but without the space to actuallly put the layout in, its about all I can do is plan, and plan, and refine the plan, so that when the time comes to actually build it, I've already got all the angles worked out...

Not much happening around the old homestead tonight, everyone's already in bed doing the sleeping thing, and I won't be much further behind them.  Tomorrow brings mostly cloudy skies, a 60% chance of rain, with a high of "only" 95.  I have a dr's appointment to check on my right knee (its been a little stiff and hurting recently) and then we're going to pick up a new to us vehicle.

Guess I'll be heading off to check a few other things then I'll be off to study the backside of my eyelids.

Good morning, all.

Ray, a big Yes on your letter to da' guvermunt. The power of bureaucracy is staggering, isn't it? No wonder nothing meaningful ever gets done up there in Warshington (that's my Hoosier phoneticism, not a political statement).

It's been so hot that yesterday's official high of 90 degrees felt downright bearable. If the high ever gets into the mid-80's I may need a light wrap when I go out lest I get a little chill...

Mostly quiet on the model railroad front this week. Started tinkering around some with an old Roundhouse building kit I'd picked up - not exactly a contest-quality kit but with a little creativity it might be made into something fun. I'll post pictures when there's something to photograph.

Have a good day everybody

Good Morning All,

Just a regular to go this morning Zoe. No, just a styrofoam cup will do - it'll be in the bin soon enough. High 60's and thunderboomers predicted this afternoon so we pay for the break in the temps. Gotta run, CUL,J.R.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a stack of buttermilk pancakes please with blueberry syrup thank you.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86.

Guess we’re having trouble with the website today? I get a IE had to reload the page due to some error with the website every time I go to another page. Then the thing after a few times comes up it’s stopped trying to load due to too many attempts. Usually it just says it had to close then reopen and the page comes up. But only in the forums. The rest of the Internet is ziping right along so… we’ll see if this is gonna get through. If not, I’ll just wait until later or tomorrow because…..

Busy day again today. My Aunt is coming up and wants to see Mom’s house before it sells, and I have to make some progress on the room and I have to w**k this afternoon. Now numerically that is not a lot, but the time it takes to do them adds up to more time than there is.

Barry- Prayers going out for all to be well.

Somebody asked why I didn’t turn the AC down while working. Just stupid I guess. Never thought of it. It was hot out and not as hot inside so I just, well…didn’t think of it. The hat was what got me. That and the fact there was no air moving so no cooling effect. Yesterday had no problems and today will be cool enough I will probably open the windows. House needs aired out anyway.

Welp, time to see if this will post. If it does, you’ll know. If it don’t…..you won’t.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

 Morning fellow dinners.

 Flo, cup of Coffee please.

Thanks Jeffery, I will see if I can post a live link later today.

Really nothing to talk about this morning. Shaun had a good day yesterday with $1488.00 in sales. Just hope we can keep it going.

Well it seems Ulrich new job is keeping him busy, I was hoping to read a post from him this morning.

Well, I have a hour before I have to start to get ready for work. Guess I will poke around the site some.

 Thanks Jeffery, it works!

By the way, the link is to Ulrich Models, if you have to buy on line this is a great shop! Great customer services. Steve the owner will bend over backwards to fix a problem you may have with a order or item that may not work right.

Good morning.

Ken ... I did not know the current Ulrich Models was also an on-line retailer. I see they still produce a few of their orginal die cast highway truck kits. I have several of the old ones on the layout because they represent 1950's highway trucks. Do you knopw the owner personally, or are you familiar with him because of prior purchases?

Inch ... I received a group of pictures that must be the same you saw.

I see there are problems with this site. I get funny messages from Internet Exployers when I post.

Have a nive Friday

My sympathies to those having computer problems with the site.  Computers and everything associated with them can be so doggone frustrating.  It's enough to drive a person to drink.  (Reminds me of a W.C. Fields quote but I won't repeat it here.)  Years ago I bought a Nerf baseball bat and wrote the words "COMPUTER REPAIR TOOL" on it in big letters.  Whenever I got frustrated with my computer I would beat it with the "repair tool."

I won't get into a discussion of PC vs. Mac but I'm using Safari on my Mac (comes with it) and I'm not experiencing any of those problems.  I'm not sure but I think there is a version of Safari that works on a PC.  I may be wrong about that though.  Another good browser is Opera.  It's little known, but has a loyal following.  I used it for a long time years ago on my PC.  It's a good browser and one of its selling points is that it's highly configurable for many kinds of handicaps.

Anyway, good luck to those with problems.  I hope you get them solved soon.

Oops, hit the top of the heap again.  This is getting expensive.  Oh well, eat up, it's on me.  Breakfasts can't be all that expensive.

I too am having problems. With Firefox I can read but when I go to reply the browser gets lost someplace and won't go to the reply box. So i use IE8 to post a reply. Problem there is that 70% of the time IE8 drops the tab then miraculously recovers it minus the reply I typed in or if it really wants to tick me off it just says Internet Explorer had a problem and had to shut down. These problems occur nowhere else but HERE. I can find nothing wrong anywhere else so the cause of the problems has to be here.

Hi all!

Got a call from My Better Half this morning. Got the results of her biopsy we had done because of her mammogram call-back. The results were NEGATIVE! There is NO CANCER!

The beer's on me for the rest of the day, boys! I think I'll even have one myself (and I don't even drink!)

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date for lunch.

Mornin'!

(Mornin' Bill!)

Zoe, I'll have one of those Butter Rum muffins you got over there, real butter, and a cup of dark roast in a FGLK mug if you please.

Jim, THAT is great news!

Barry, hope your biopsy comes back the same way!!!

BTW, the excerpt I put in here last night wasn't from dissatisfaction with the process for filing for Medicaid (Local and State), but rather about the very "un"-civil service of one employee.  My SIL works for the county and when she heard we had to deal with THAT specific person, she rolled her eyes and said, "You poor %^(%$s........"  This person was absolutely convinced that we were hiding all the $$$$ from the sale of my Father's house.  She refused to believe even after we showed her the deed we had on the property dated 13 years earlier that we actually owned the place not my parents.  My sister and I both showed up at the county building and personally handed her a notarized copy of the sale papers from the law yer.  She looked at it and said, "Your mother isn't listed on the sale!"  We looked at her and said, "Uh huh!" (grin).  She then got a very upset look on here face and stormed off.....  So the comments to her on the letter were due to her bring THAT subject up once again.  All the other people we dealt with at the County Nursing Home and at the County Offices were wonderful and very supportive to us.  A pleasure to work with.

How about some rust?

Have a great day!

Good moring all from SunnyCal.   Delta breeze started up again yesterday, which means a little cooler weather around here, but also a lot of late-season pollen.  So it's 'sneeze-time' .  The Central Valley, especially here around Sacramento is supposed to be one of the worst spots in the nation for allergy sufferers, and for some strange reason I've developed allergies in my Very Late Youth.  I've an air purifier for both the living room and the bedroom, but about the only way I can work on the MR in the garage without sounding like the Fourth Act of "La Traviata" is to put on the fan and aim it at the garage door.  (That's an Opera Joke, in case you're wondering).

Went out and bought about 100 of those little (1"-2")Hecki pine trees to pepper the back ridge with, yesterday.  I'll start installing them today.  Still don't know what to do about my 'spongy' railyard, though.  I'm getting frustrated enough to seriously consider tearing the *** thing out and starting all over again.   Grr!Angry

Well, you'd think I'd have done this project while my computer genius offspring was down, but--No, I had to wait until Tom was back in Vancouver and Chris was back in East Moline before I decided to hook up my new mini-cam so that I can do some 'on-board' photography.  Little bitty thing I got from Micromark--sits in the bed of a gondola car and takes absolutely AMAZING videos of the layout.  Spent about an hour on the phone with Toshiba yesterday trying to route the camera through a video/DVD recorder and a monitor.  Finally got THAT working--remember, I am among the most Electronically Challenged guys on the planet--and did a couple of test runs.  Wow--I didn't realize that at 'ground' level, the Yuba River Sub is all CLIFFS!    I also didn't realize how much of the layout still needs to be scenicked.   Lotsa pink foam there, fellows, LOL!

Anyway, I'm going to go out and play movie director (John Ford, eat your heart out Stick out tongue)  today and see what I come up with.  If it works, I'll try and download it to my Photobucket account and we can all take a trip over Yuba Pass, LOL!

Jim: So glad your wife's mammogram turned up negative.

Barry:  Sincerely hope your tumor turns out to be the same.  More like a carbuncle or something!

Ray:  I love that photo of the bridge.  Man, talk about LUSH vegetation around that area--yummy!

Jeff:  How's the brace-fitting coming along?  Sure hope they get it right soon.

Well, that's about it from Pollen-Land.  Going to go 'fan' out the garage and see what kind of trouble I can get into.  Face-mask and handkerchief time.

Have a great day, all.  Prayers to those in need.

Tom Big Smile

So far it's not. Last time I went to see was at a scheduled appointed and the doc pulled a no show. The doc that was there showed me what had been put together so far. From what I saw it's nothing even similar to what the foot doc ordered. I go to see the doc again on the 10th.

Good Evening Folks,

I am running really late today, but it has been a busy and tiring day for me today. Did not sleep well last night, so I started the day being tired already. There were lots of little issues with my parents, so I just jumped into the car and drove up there. They just won´t realize, that they need assistance, but are still unwilling to accept it. The move to the place we found for them is out of question for them.

Frankly, I don´t know what to do anymore. I am exhausted.

Jim - I am really glad that YOH was tested negative for cancer - big Sigh of relief!

Galaxy - the pop-up issue should be solved. I did not like it either, but I still locked the thread - no need to work the issue umpteen times around, as it has been recognized.I am still looking to find a reason for those Oops - pages - I too have that once in a while.

Ken - I hope to be able to work on the waterfall feature tomorrow, so there will be more pictures coming - I hope!

Bama - good to see you´re back a little more often now! How are the little ones doing?

Going to head for the sofa - can´t keep my eyes open.

I went down to my parents place earlier and helped my father in looking up a Black and Decker Space Maker can opener. Not just any Space Maker can opener, it has to be the exact same model he had before. The EC85 Type 1. It wasn't listed on the B&D website for such things. No surprise there as it was probably put together by Fred Flintstone. I got him the 800 number from the site so he could talk to them directly. They say they still have that model so he purchased one on the spot sight unseen. We'll see what they send.

Jim - That is indeed great news. I know exactly what both of you have been going through, as my wife has been called back about 3 times over the years. Been awhile since the last one though, so I'm guessing the technology has taken giant strides forward. I remember thinking the last time how many more chances were we going to get dodging that bullet.  Tom

Since I was having problems here with bot Firefox and IE8 I downloaded Opera to use only for this forum. It's pretty easy to use though it did require some searching around to find how to save and access bookmarks.

On the IE issue I get a lot of 'Well it wouldn't do that if you install IE9'. DUH! Then again it might. IE9 is incompatible with Windows XP so IE8 is as high as I can go. IE9 may not be susceptible to these problems but I'm not going to upgrade to Windows 7 to find out. I don't have that kind of money. I'm a very poor man who's fortunate enough to be able to pay my bills. If I'm lucky I have some pennies left to rub together. I can't afford to run out and buy the newest operating system that comes along just because Microsoft thinks it's the greatest thing on earth. In fact I could give them a piece of my mind but that kind of language isn't allowed here.

Monon Jim .. That's GREAT NEWS! ... Beer's on your tab. Thanks. ...Watch the beer when Ken shows up, though.

Stan ... I'll try that.

Everybody ... shhh... Ulrich is napping. Time to take advantage of the situation. Let's look at Ray's photo of the freight cars with the "special paint". Any remarks? .... Uh ... OOPS!... Evidently, Ulrich has Vinnie assisting him... Hi, Vinnie. ... I know nothing, I saw nothing, I said nothing!

The site is working fine this afternoon. I'm on the iMac now instead of the Dell with XP where I was this morning.

Happy Model Railroading. .
