Jeff ... I didn't know there were any Hi-F's still running.

I don't know of any that are. The one I have is a dummy unit. No rubber bands required. I took it apart and put the body on a P1K F3 chassis so people can do a double take on it. Meanwhile the F7 body with the dummy Hi-F frame rolls right past and 9 times out 10 they don't notice. You'd think the prehistoric looking side frames would stand out.

Yeah, we all have those, at least us older people do. When I saw the post I double checked the date to make sure I hadn't slept through a few days. Wouldn't be the first time that happened.

Looks like the folks at Kalmbach fixed the problem. My Firefox and Internet Explorer are working again.

EDIT: Spoke too soon! IE just spiraled in screaming MAY-DAY all the way!

At least Firefox is working. That's what I use the most.

Afternoon all.  Just a RBF for me.  Been doing some research on the tracks in around my home and I found out that the Central of Georgia and ACL both ran through Troy, AND there were two diamonds to allow them to cross over one another within about 5 miles.  None of that is now visible as the tracks that the CofG ran on have been pulled and CSX has installed switches to facilitate the movement of cars from their main (the old ACL main) and the Conecuh Valley RR (shortline running on the former CofG trackage to the southwest of town).  I like finding fascinating stuff like that.

Ulrich I liked the article, and I have to say that your modelling skills outweigh mine, so you've at the very least have me beat by a long shot.

Jeff, PM's checked and replied to, thank you sir for the information.

Welp, its about time for me to get changed to go and do the w**k thing, so I guess I'd better get a move on.  Probably won't see me tonight as i have to be back in at 6am to receive our truck tomorrow....

Later Taters!

Bama,

All that railroad archeology stuff is good. I wouldn't be surprised if much of the road bed remains on the C of G right of way as we still find traces of the Shepaug here and it's been gone over a century. In fact, someone just uncovered (literally) an iron crossing sign that had been hidden in the woods all that time. A hike with a map could be a good spare time activity should you ever have any spare time.   J.R.

Good evening all....Well a city worker came by late this morning a said he is letting everyone know that the worms have been identifide as web worms. These worms start out as moths and lay their eggs some 6 to 800 at a time. When they hatch the young spins a large web like cocoon around a bunch of leaves. As they reach adult size they leave the web and begin to eat anything with leaves on it. This afternoon a team of exterminators started to arrive and was treating the area. They also advised us that they will be treating our yards and trees as well..... The calvarey has arrived!!!

Glad to hear that the worms were ID'ed and glad to hear that there will be someone coming out to treat them.

J.R. you are right, the archeology is fun.  I have yet to be able to find something like that, the most I've been able to really come up with is the ballast itself, looks like the Southern did an excellent job of cleaning up when they tore the track out of there back in 79 or 80.

Welp, I am relaxing at w**k right now, things are extremely slow, but we're having a fair day, nothing to really write home about, but at least we're getting some people in.

I probably won't be back this evening as I have to be here again at 6am tomorrow morning to receive our stock truck in (instead of it coming tonight, as it has for the past two years I've worked here).  Oh well, I might stop back in before we get out of here tonight and check up on things.

As for now, back to the digging through information to find on the local tracks.

Evenin' Folks!

Flo, just a decaf for me tonight.

I think I done tired myself out today.  I do have the new desk put together!!!  It is a corner style and had lots of parts, and lots and lots of pages of directions, but as of a few minutes ago it is finished.....  Noe I have to build the other 2 pieces I bought for it as well.  They should be quicker and easier (I hope).

So Garry, what day is it???

Had the eye appointment today.  I talked to the doctor about getting new glasses with safety lenses for when I w*rk on projects out at the museum....  He was obliging and has now ordered bifocals for me.....Grumpy  yep my distance sight has gotten to where I can use it and he has me with a prescription for both.....  I have only had reading glasses and didn't get them until I was about 50.  He also wasn't able to finish the last test he does so I will have the eyes dilated again next week when I pick up the new glasses....  Fun! Grumpy

I have to get busy cleaning the house tomorrow and Thursday as I have company coming Friday Afternoon.  Place is a complete disaster.

Hope you all have a great night!

Just got home from w**k and stopped in to check out WPF. Looks aweful familiarHmm. I think most just reposted from last week. I must say though, quite a few have posted for it being Friday night. How time flies.

Problems at the Stalag. MIL has been somewhat ill last night and today. Starting yesterday she had the sweats and they said possibly it was the Morphine coming out. Then today, they thought....infection and realized she was not on any antibiotic and called the Doc to find out she should have been but somehow the order did not get sent from the Horsepiddle. Confidence is building. Got the Antibiotic going again. Good, right? Wrong. Fever 102, finally broke, maybe she's coming down with possibly flu. Tonight, new LPN comes in after being off for three days and before giving her the Blood sugar lowering medicine, decides to question the orders by asking, if anyone has been checking her blood sugar because she saw no record of it and was curious as to how they knew if she needed the Blood sugar medicine. So, against the orders, and at great risk of being sued, she took the blood sugar. 40. She said no wonder, so again against the orders and at even greater risk of being sued...., she didn't give her the medicine and said feed her. Of course at 8 pm the kitchen is closed so after setting her up with fruit cups of all kinds Brenda went to Har....(ahem) here (trademarked and copyrighted all over the place. So follow the link)  to get a cheeseburger. MIL has not felt like eating all day and the nurse said she would have more than likely "woke up in a coma" tomorrow. How THAT is possible, to "wake up in a coma", I don't know. Ah the finest medical care in the world. I'd be better Goog.....er I mean using a search engine with my symptoms than seeking professional medical attention.  What's that? Yes she is listed as diabetic in her chart, and yes I realize they are only Practicing medicine. (said in a grumble) I'll show them what a practicing mechanic is and watch 'em scream.

Welp, I'm tired and so is the dog, so it looks like I'll be off to lala land. Myabe tomorrow I will.....now. I won't say it.

Hey, anybody seen Chris? That reminds me;

Jeff, check your PM's

Evening All,

At w**k tonight. It rained most the day so the temp was nice for a change. Tomorrow I was told I am proctoring written exams for possible new hires and next week I will be on a interview board for those that successfully pass their testing this week. Before coming to work this morning I tried 2 different mounting methods for my dwarf signals and I was not happy with either, so I have to rethink what I want to do. Maybe a walk in the hardware dept in Lowe's for ideas is called for later in the week.

Garry- That sounds like something I would do.

Ulrich- Very nice article.

Everybody have a good night.

"Hey, anybody seen Chris?"

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Yup, I'm over here...hiding in the back. You see, since I don't have a passport, and don't have any papers...this month I'll be an undocumented diner in the Diner...

TODD: Sorry to hear of the trials and tribulations with your MIL. Kudos though, to the LPN who had the common sense to check the sugar level. I'll spare everybody my rants on the state of healthcare...and why I got out of it completely.

CURT: Here's hoping you get some good candidates.

ULRICH: Belated congrats on your new title in life...I'll try not to give you too much trouble!

Yikes! Is THAT one of them Canadian (Canadien?) Mounties?? Time to go hide again...

 Evening Folks

Flo, beer please and a Pizza

Gary I will pay your tap tonight.

Flo, don't remind him, OK? WhistlingSmile, Wink & Grin

Gary, more than likely it was my fault you thought it was Friday. This morning I posted today was my Friday (I am off Wednesday and Thursday) and I was looking forward to my days off. So more than likely that got you thinking it was Friday.

Job Front Well, today was yesterday Wednesday! Now that deep. Whistling Lets just say it was slow across the market. I led the way most of the day with $59.00 in sales.

Job Search Found one I want, I think. Have you ever heard of a Groupon? It is a internet ad, where you pay a small fee to get a discount at a store that is advertising on there site. My company ran one in May. Boy it woke up the store in the middle of the week. I normally will do $4500.00 between Monday and Friday. That week when the ad hit, I did $15,000.00!

So I can testify it works! Sent them a E-mail and hope to hear from them. It has a good base pay plus commission. I can only hope and keep sending out resumes.

Ulrich I really enjoyed the article. I think your work should be in print. May you should summit to your boss here at the site. Only bad thing is they want 5.5 megapixel pictures. Does your camera go that high? Main reason I think it should be in the magazine is because it shows you don't have a basement / garage sizes room to build a great looking layout.

 See you all later!

Good Morning!

Another half-sleepless night again. Waking up early and being still tired is no fun.

Chloe, a mug of dark roast and a breakfast bagel, please.

Garry - I am feeling for you. I also lose track of time now and then, with every day being the same routine. Petra usually has to remind me what day of the week it is Smile, Wink & Grin

Ken - my camera does roughly 6 mega pixel a picture, but the cost of sending a CD to the Kalmbach folks is just forbidding at the moment. I´d rather spend the few $$$ extra cash on buying stuff I need for my layout.  But I agree that there is a lack of features on small and innovative layout ideas in most magazines.

Chris - where ya been, pal? Maybe it is just the season, but the MIA list seems to be getting longer day by day. John in Nova Scotia still seems to be having computer problems, Jim shows up only on a very infrequent basis, Trainman Sam is probably busy riding the rails, Ed has shown up for ages, Sawyer rather hangs out at the N scale forum, Keith has not been seen since February 14th, Ryan - where is he? We have to watch out, I heard Vinnie talking about reducing staff cost due to low patronage of this place!

Todd - continuing Angel for your MIL!

Have a good one!

Well, it's getting late. Or, is it getting early...

Ulrich, I know that when you send photos by the web they are compressed but is there anyway to get them back to the original sizes? I be more than pleased to burn a CD and send it to them.

Or you might just send them a link to the article, sue they could flip for the say $20.00 to $30.00 shipping and cost.

Hum, the first package I sent was only $20.00 and change. Surely the cost of sending a CD would be way under that.

Ken - staying up late today? Must be past 1 am in your neck of the woods...

Postage from Germany to the US is about double than the other way around. A CD sent by air mail costs about $ 15 and that´s a lot of dough - or just about the cost of 1 module!

I'm just stopping in for a quick glass of chocolate milk and then heading out for w**k.  Couldn't sleep last night, which doesn't bode well for me today as its going to be an 11 hour day....oh well, I just won't be all that cheerful, they (fellow coworkers) will get over it.

Will probably be back tonight to check up on things, as for now, gotta scoot!

Good Morning All,

I’ve been awol since Thursday and missed a lot of posts. Thursday was USCG’s 221st Birthday so I was caught up in my regular work and the celebration that went along with the day.  I spent most of my weekend typesetting data marks for various rolling stock in MS-Spreadsheet.  I have printed 6 sheets so far in white ink.  This weekend I will be working on one custom logo for Last Mountain and Eastern, and hopefully a sign for Jeff’s AC unit.  I do have a new program that prints background buildings, maybe a factory brick mask for his AC unit…

Columbus Ohio, Garage sale: August 19 and 20th.  Bob the train guy is selling a huge collection to help the family of a recently deceased model railroader out.  5,000 items, about half the collection is Athearn Blue Box kits and Bev-Bel kits.  I called and made an appointment to go down on the 14th with the hopes of picking up a few more 2-bay hopper kits and maybe a box car or two.  Blue Box $5 and Bev-Bel $6 each.  I understand he has diesel locomotives, “GE anything” is how it was described to me, If the railroads had it in service 1970-1980 it’s for sale.  Everything is HO-Scale.

I’ll try to catch up on posts today if the phones are quiet…

Good Morning!! Just coffee polease. Thanks.

Partly sunny, with a high near 78. I shouldn’t even post that where Paul can see it. No rain though.

Well, MIL called this morn all chipper. Blood sugar must be better. Up dressed and ready to ….do whatever she does in the Stalag. Eat and rehab between TV shows I guess. Pretty much all Mom did. I guess the doc’s not too happy with situation. Not only were they not checking her sugar, they were giving her one pill in morning and one in evening instead of one in morning. I can hardly wait until this med care is free…then we’ll get some quality care from people who will be paid less.

Don’t w**k today (chuckle) so I don’t know what I’ll do.
