I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem I've been running into all afternoon. I no longer have the "FORUM" block on the home page. To get here now, I had to go to the bottom of the home page and click on "COMMUNITY" in order to access the forums. Sort of a back door approach, but at least it works. I haven't changed anything on my end, so I'm just not sure what's going on.

Tom

(EDIT) Oh boy, this post is going to cost a bundle. That's okay, eat up and just put it on my wife's tab.

 Afternoon folks!

Thank you Flo. She must have seen me roll up and had my Beer ready! Big Smile

Got the back yard cut today. Funny how you remember it being harder than it accurately is? Whistling

K-10 Model Trains Ken (the owner) had one one each of left and right turnout in stock 20-220 and 20-221 and the other 2 should be in next week. Thumbs Up

Ray Or should I call you Mr. Superintendent? Big Smile Got your letter today and Thank You! Todd told Sue to watch for your letter as well.

Was going to work on the gate today, but till I get the rest of the Lumber why bother?

Got into Computers around 1995. One of the mangers that was a computer head told me it would change my life forever, and it has! For Good and Bad!

Good I have learned a lot and made friends that I would never other wise met! Had a Mopar Fan fly from England and spent a week with me.

Bad Rather play on the computer than build a Gate! Whistling

 See you all Friday!

HAPPY THURSDAY EVERY ONE!  Not much to report here, The T.V said it's the nicest day of the year here so far. I have been outside all week w**king on the yard and doing some bird watching at the same time. I have my humming bird feeders out but I have not seen one yet, (this year) I have heard them though so I think they are in the area? Our club meeting is on Saturday. I am pretty excited for that!

Howmus, I have all ways enjoyed  your posts, Your story about showing 5 forms of I D so you could give blood. Reminded me of the time the teller at my old bank made me show I D  to deposit my pay check into my own checking account, (I was not getting any cash back) I asked the same kind of question." Is there a problem with people making random deposits in strangers accounts??")

Jeffery, You sure do good paint work!  Do you just use a spray can as your profile thingy says or do you also have a air brush?  I don't  know why but i started thinking about that last night while I was trucking. I guess because you take the time to share so many great photos of your projects.

Any way you all take care!

Afternoon All,

Finally had a chance to sit down. Ran all my errands today and painted the wood on top of my layout brown. That would of  been much easier before the track was laid. Recieved my 3 Bowser stock cars today in the mail. I now have 3 buildings and 3 cars to buildBig Smile.

Lee-  I have a bunch of Champion PRR decals that are in the time frame you need. Send me a message and I will check what I have.

Jeff-  Nice weathering job on the 4-8-4.

Galaxy- Hope the procedure went well today.

Heartland- Glad the water is going down.

Tom- I have the same  problem logging into the forum. The log on button is missing.

Everyone take care.

Coffee refill, please.

Just waiting on our farrier to arrive. Life on the farm continues, regardless of all the clean up still to do.

Forgot to mention that when we were out and about the other day we got caught at a RR-crossing. Big Smile We watched a train being pulled by 7 Big CSX locos w/ 1 small switcher behind them pulling over 90 mixed freight cars. It slowed down to a crawl, I'm guessing because it was entering a tornado damaged area.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Congrats to both Galaxy and Jeff for good news on the medical front..

I've put down about 3' of flex track, one turnout, and ran a locomotive for the first time since tearing my old layout down--about a year ago.  It didn't run very far, 3', but it sure looked good !

And we caught zero, nada, no, fish today.  But a great big one got away from me...<g>

Good Afternoon, Zoe - I'll have a RBF please. Thanks, I already had a late lunch (earlier in the afternoon).

Ray, I understand from Flo that you just missed a skillet-whomping the other day. What was that for? She said I didn't "need to know"...  Sounds like up your way, they're REALLY picky about whose blood they'll take! Smile, Wink & Grin

Ulrich, another nice-looking loco on the way. Thumbs Up (did Hobby Search give you a guess on how long it might take on this one?)

Jerry, good to hear that you and Sallie are okay. Ah, track-cleaning...(have some of that THAT I will need to do, once I get the wiring part done).

Jeff, nice photo of your van there. Smile

But I think your computer has the hiccups...

But I think your computer has the hiccups...

But I think your computer has the hiccups...

Rob, thanks for letting us know that you all are safe and well. How long did it take for them to get your power back up and running? And any guess on how long until you can get your roofs all back on? Wow - was your shot of the road taken from the 'toward the main road' side, or from your house's side?

Thayne, I hear you about 'too much month at the end of my paycheck'. Sigh Hey, at least YOU know all the w**k you put into the garden (while your wife's getting the credit for how great it looks - or tastes, if it's a veggie garden).

Vincent, sometimes ya just gotta walk away to avoid being considered rude (as opposed to others who are just stupid...). Do you think it was really the gal's roommate who messed(TM) up her car? Smile, Wink & Grin Hey, you did great, getting $44 back on that $50 book! Around these parts, if you get above 50 percent of what you paid, you're doing well (plus, the publisher about always puts out a new edition each year, so the bookstores often won't buy them back anyway).

LoneGeep, maybe you and Barry should form the Grey-Day club - I think his weather is dull grey over half of the days. Storm But it beats about a week or so of rain, eh?

MononJim - they have your kid plotting three-dimensional curves? Sheesh! Graphing *anything* in 3 dimensions was tough enough, let alone some weird curves and planes.Surprise And (chuckle..snicker...guffaw..) thanks for posting THAT Dave Barry article. Laugh Still funny!

OzJim - Welcome back (it's been a while, hasn't it?)! How's your layout coming along? And do they celebrate New Year's differently down under than we do up here? Smile, Wink & Grin Good to hear from you!

AZBob, I would guess that you might have more time for layout w**k with that kinda schedule - do you? I know that my schedule has me in the office only about one week out of three (but nights one of the other two, plus on-call an entire Sat./Sunday and Mon. night in one of the 3 weeks. (Hmm, so why is my layout not further along...?Huh?) And your hardware store stocks train stuff? Cool! Cool

As for gas prices, I heard that the big problem on the fluctuations is due to traders who are speculating on 'gas futures' (not to be confused with what happens after Todd eats too many chili dogs...). The traders buy futures (which jacks up the price for crude oil) and/or sell them, depending on every little thing that they fear might cause shortages (and therefor make them money). Just plain ol' greed, that's all. (IMHO). What? Zoe, how about we move this SoapBox back to its corner now?

Todd, I was gonna ask you about THAT first video link, but... nevermind... Whistling Hey, about Lee's comment about not sneezing, for those who have done THAT prep, that's not funny, just scary!SurpriseOops By the bye, have you noticed that your signature typesize is bigger? Or is that just my eyes the forum software? Wink

Galaxy, I'd agree with those who said "Don't go far from the toilet" Actually, I would disagree - SIT on that toilet when you drink that WONDERFUL drink they gave you (it can act rather quickly and without much of any warning. Oops (I didn't have ALL the test you're having, but did have the 'clean you out in places you don't wanna think about' milkshake) Hope by the time I get through the rest of the posts, Good to hear that you have a good report back for us.

Garry, I was wondering how far off the floor your wiring for your layout was (at its lowest). Forgot about your power tools. But good if the water level is going down now. (Whew!) Maybe you should ask the sheriff about 'poaching' laws for those guys in the bass boat...Wink

NE RailModeller - good to see you have your 'puter up and w**king again!

So Barry, did you get those decals at the LHS, and are you now a certified Rivet Counter? Whistling Good to hear the report from your doctor. Thumbs Up

Lee, have you tried the Champion Decals website? Last time I was there, they said they were still selling off their remaining stock of decals (which doesn't mean that they have the ones you are looking for...). Of course, it's been a few months since I was there... Worth checking the site and/or calling them, maybe.

Well (water level is starting to drop now...), I'll sit a spell at the RC until it's time for me to head home. Tomorrow is payday...

Blessings and prayers (for better weather),

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Evening guys

Just got back from Golden Corral. My father had a mustang club meeting. I tagged along because I hadn't ate there in a while. It wasn't that great, but I think I gorged myself again. I had 5 plates of food, and a bowl of ice cream.

Spent last night trying to machine (read: grind 13 grooves into a steel bar with a dremel) some weights for those McKean centerbeams. Took forever to do 1, then I realized that I could just remove the ribs from the middle of the sill and not have to do any machining. SO I spent a lot of time for naught, except for a learning experience. I won't have to buy new bars since I finished one the old way, and have enough to spilce together the 2 cars.

Jim, I don't know if it was her roommate/co-worker, that's just what she said. I didn't actually buy the book from the school. I got it from a student who missed the buy-back.

Joe, It's the same job, just a different location.

Probably won't be in til late tomorrow night. After work I'm washing the car and heading up to the drag strip (I call it track). I'll see if I can get a vid or something.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good evening gents, just stopped by the Diner to see if Ed was here, we are getting mighty low on OJ up here in NE.

A major project has started up here in Central Massachusetts, all the bridges on the main line from Worcester to the NY border are being raised higher in order to allow double stack cars to use this old B&A mainline. Tunnel retros also in the Berkshires. And, CSX is moving their main freight yard from Boston to Worcester, now I will be able to see plenty of action on 15 minutes from the house.

Talks later guys, hope everyone is well,

Good Morning,

another sunny day, with a lot of pollen in the air - achoo!

Flo, coffee and a breakfast bagel, please.

Today´s Alison´s funeral. It was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed so both of her brothers can attend. Unfortunately, there will be no band of pipes & drums to escort her, as the guys of Soltau Barracks are on alert - thanks to OBL. The ceremony will be in English and German, as many of her friends from Scotland will be there.

Jim - I can track the shipment. It has arrived at Customs at Frankfurt Airport, awaiting to be cleared. With a little luck I´ll get it tomorrow,  just before I leave for my parents´ place.

Wednesday saw the opening of the new addition in Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg. It is a giant model of Hamburg Airport, which they had been working on for seven years. I have seen a report on TV - the sheer size of the planes is breathtaking! I should go there some day ...

Have a good one!

Good Morning!

Boy it's nice to eat solid foods again!

The proceedure went fine and no probles were found. The gastroenteroligist thinks my meds are messing with my Irritable Bowel Syndrome,a nd even though I take fiber twice a day, I need to add more to keep the cramping down. That and see if some meds can be combined or eliminated by reg Dr. Problem is there is not one I can eliminate...if I forget a dose of somehting I KNOW IT and FEEL IT!!!

So I dunno.

Still got gas attacks this AM. I just let em rip!

Train nut friend is in FL helping his Gma with his Mother's estate as the guy mother listed as executor or CLAIMED executor privelege absconded wiht most of Mother;s estate and wants G-ma to sign everything of hers over to him as well! WE smell a SHister here! He claimed in a "final accounting" to have sent each of the 5 kids a large check as "final distribution of Mother's assets" but HE never got one. He claimed to make a mortgage payment onthe condo g-ma and Mother owned together...they paid CASH for it yrs ago! There never was or is a mortgage! Not even a "second mortgage"! Yep a SHISTER is afoot that is why he went down there to helo his 94 yr old g-ma out. I help out here by writing letters susinctly for him..hes not so good at that...

Well, enough of that...

Have agreat day!

Good Morning!! Coffee and Huevos Rancheros please. Thanks

Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 69. They LIED! Yesterday they said 70. Never trust a weather people.

No Model Railroading yesterdayGrumpy.

Galaxy- Glad your procedure went well.

Jim- Do I have type size problems? Who knows. Knowing me I probably made the text smaller than usual which makes the signature seem larger. Something weird is always happening on this end during a post. I’m fat fingering something or clicking something else I don’t mean too. Good thing I’m not in charge of missile launchers. We’d be in WW48 by now.

Welp, no ones told me what I’m doing today yet so I’ll just play it by ear. Maybe I’ll get into the train room for a bit.

Good Morning,

Curt, thanks, looking for hopper decals for my neighbor. I’ll find out how many he was looking for and shoot you an email this weekend.  I was amazed that champs was the source one for steam era decals.  I guess you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.  I was looking into replacing my ALPS printer with a Kodak Dye Sublimination printer, but the printer’s $3K price tag is just outside of my MRR budget by about $2,799.98.  I might try silk screening decals.

Garry, my co-worker is originally from KY and he said that is one of the greatest places on the planet.

Jim, Champs shut down completely in September-October 2010. The owner passed away in 2003 and his daughter and wife had been selling off the inventory stock pile and looking for a buyer for the company. I made a big order right before the finale. I wish I would have picked up a few FP&E decals before they went out of stock.  I guess I’ll be watching the train shows for them or sit down and figure out how to get the ALPS printer running correctly.

Oh I finished painting all the steel mining buildings last night, so once I stop using the mine module as a storage area for the port facility buildings I can get those in place and clear up some clutter.  Then a few progress pictures will be in order…

Morning all. Think I'll try the no-carb pancake super stack with a double side of fat-free bacon.

Well, the wife is sick today, so I've been playing Mr. Mom getting the kids off to school this morning. Mission accomplished with the first three, got about an hour before number four needs to go. Depending on when I can get her in to the doctor, I may not see the office at all today. Wouldn't that be tragic...

Morning All,

Only plans today are to go to Chiro today, put gas in the truckCrying then come home and work on buildingsBig Smile for the layout.

My laptop is working fine at  home so the issue must be the wireless card I use at w**k. Later I will use the card and see what happens.

I realized I am now officially a train geek. I spent Cinco de Mayo at a club business meeting. When did this happen? LOL. The upside is no hangover today.

Well I am going to get going. Talk to you later.

Galaxy: Good to hear there were no problems.

Good morning. It's 54° and sunny. The high will be 82° and it will still be sunny.

I may start back in on the layout today. It's about time some bushes and trees were added. I also have a MoW car that's way too clean.

Good morning .... Oatmeal and OJ, please.

DICK !!!! Good to see you. Interesting about CSX projects in Mass. Keep us posted.

Lee .... Your co-worker is correct. Here is the website for Land Between the Lakes. http://www.lbl.org/

It is easy to remember "lbl.org".... Inch visted the area with Deb, and included a layout tour of the 3 layouts here at the lake. It was a great visit! Others may try. JimCG visited last year, and it was good. Bait Shop Pizza is a specialty.

JimCG said    "Jeff, nice photo of your van there. Smile

Jeff ... Nice job with the engine.

Galaxy ... Hope you will be OK. You may try a high fiber diet to see if it helps. I learned I could clear away belly cramps with some bowls of Cheerios. Also, I learned not to eat popcorn and small seeds which get stuck inside causing the cramps. ... That said, you may have something else.

Ulrich .... It sounds like a sad day for you, Petra, and Allison's family. ...

Indy Jim, Bill T, PC  .... Looks like I'll be driving through Indiana in a few days. I'll be going from Detroit to visit family in Grand Rapids early in the week, and then drive south through Indiana to Kentucky.

Happy Model Railroading

Jeff, like the engine.

Galaxy, bet you're glad the test is over.  Ditto what Garry mentioned.

About a year ago I had to dismantle my layout in preparation for a move to Montana.  After untold hours of construction it was a sad day to tear everything down.  But now I'm up and running again in our new place and attached is a photo of my "progress" to date.  Yup, this layout and the room are a mess right now, but it is my mess and it feels good seeing a piece of track operational one more time....

Good Afternoon,

A sad day indeed.

It was a peaceful ceremony with about 40 people attending. It was heartbreaking to see Alison´s kids having to say goodbye to her Mom. All of the family were in tears - there was so little we could do to comfort them. Petra and I feel with them.

I am not in the mood to do anything today, other than watch the idiot box to get my mind onto something else.

Yes, Janie, I´ll have a mug of coffee, no, nothing to eat, please - I am just not up to it.

CUL, Folks!

Morning all Coffee please.

Lone Jeep : they work fine for me, perhaps just try googling the key words of the website links. Sorry I can't help you otherwise.

Cape Jim : Thanks for the welcome back! I've been lurking on these pages, just only recently I've found the time to post here again. Since about December I had no desire to really touch the layout, but the recent train show has again spurred me. I've moved the layout again, from the Garage back into the house, in the room opposite my bedroom, which is down stairs of the two level home.

I will post some photos in the WPF over the next day or so, to see my layout progress.

I did have four weeks off from mid december to mid January, but 3 days in I had a phone call from my boss to tell me that one of our sales representatives was killed in a head on crash on the highway only about 3.5 hours from home, the worst bit was the driver was another colleague at work and he walked away without a scratch. Some of the stats from the investigating police were amazing, The car they were in was a Ford Territory - roughly the same size as a Chevy Blazer, it hit head on with a Toyota Yaris ( a small 3 door car.) The Territory careened off the road and rolled 6-8 times before coming to rest upright. The Yaris remained on the highway. From the photos it was amazing anyone survived, let alone walked away. I'm pleased to report that the rest of my holidays were excellent.

Anyway better get to bed, have to be up in 6 hours.Oops

Regards,

OzJim
