Well, Where is the diner now, Flo? Germany!? I thought there was somethin fishy goin on when my GPS told me to go strait through the ocean.  How did you get it over here? Oh, is that why the dinner smells like salt?  O.K. I get it now.

Well, I finally got my computer fixed and squared away (It was the reason why I disappeared off the face of the earth for a few months) All is good as far as it stands now.

I'll be a while, playing catch-up with all of the happenings that have gone on.

EDIT:  Ah, figured. I just got back, and I get tops. Oh well, Eat up everyone.

Ulrich .... Here is the link to the Frankenmuth website for your information. We ate at Zehnder's which is listed. .  http://www.frankenmuth.org/  The bakery in Zehnders may rival some of Petra's good food. (if Petra has time, tell her we would enjoy her streudel.)  Kern's Sausage Company has authentic German sausage. Bronner's is a popular, year-around Christmas store.

In recent months, the goofy atheist activists have been to town to protest a city government sponsoring a religious holiday, Chrismas. Can you imagine that. Local residents repsonded by displaying crosses in their front yards.

Chris .... Thanks for the comment on the flood. Water is at the brim of the dam, and so lake can not go much higher fortunately.

Nother East Rail Modeler... Glad you are back in the diner.

 Hello Folks!

Flo, Big Boy Sub and Beer in a frosted Monon Mug.

Cut the front grass today and really need to do the backyard, but boy I am tired. I hope all it is, is because I am not sleeping well. (been sleeping in the family room now for 8 months because I snore) Here I preach the benefits of a good mattress and I sleep on a couch? Grumpy Yet my wife and my Irish wolfhound sleep on a $4800.00 King Mattress? Well guess it is time to buy a twin mattress from work and sleep on a real bed.

Heading too K-10 Model Trains Thursday to order 2 left and 2 Right number 4 turnouts.

See you all Thursday and good luck Galaxy

Flo, could I please have a lemonade in a Canadian Pacific glass. It's finally sunny and I have a productive day so I am happyBig Smile. This thread is moving fast! Before I joined the Diner, I thought this thread was about a craftsman kit from FSM or BTS. James Saunders, what website did you get your emoticon trains that you have in your signature?

Coffee refill, please.

***Garry, "branch line"...Laugh Thanks for the chuckles. That water came mighty close to your friends house. Are they on well water and do they have a septic tank? Could imagine some potential trouble if that water remained high for too long.

Noticed our phone line is still on the ground down the driveway. Looks like light stuff so it's probably temporary. Should be replaced with a heavier cable. Tis' still nice to be back online and have a phone again. How spoiled we become.

Rob... It's the corner of our house. The neighbor took the photo and sent while I'm in MI. ... I'm glad the water can not go higher because it is at the top of the dam.

I was told some guys were fishing in a bass boat on our land.

Evenin' folks!

I'll have the fried Bass dinner, with a trip to the salad bar and a cup of decaf.  So where did you folks get the fresh bass anyway?  Oh, Garry's back yard.....  Lake is a bit high I guess.

The day here ended up with no liquid sunshine falling from the sky, so this afternoon I tackled the lawn again.  It has grown about 2.5 inches since it was mowed a few days ago, and I set the mower back down a bit.  Very hard going, especially where I was stomping through the water out back.......  managed to do about 1/4 of the lawn before running out of steam (both the mower and the pusher guy).  So I changed my shoes and headed down to the layout for a couple hours.  Lots of wetness down there from the precipitation yesterday (an inch).  None in the layout rooms, but coming in by the back entrance to the cellar.  Got a siphon going over to the sump (it collects behind the concrete steps at the bottom and then runs in to the basement).  It should dry up by tomorrow when it rains some more.

Spent most of the time adding the signs to the toggles.  Looks better and is more easily read than the old labels I had.  The labels would spontaneously unglue themselves every now and then, so these should be better in many ways.

What the heck was THAT!!!???!!  Oh, Galaxy has started the prep, huh?  Hope he took some good reading materials out to the little house out back with him....  Model Railroader or something...........

Garry: Thanks for the welcome back. We got off to a great start this year in Brisbane with our biggest flood in 25 years happening in January. I spent most of my weekends helping my fellow Brisbaneites clean up the thick layer of mud and gunk and all sorts of rubbish that flowed through about 45,000 homes and 8,000 businesses. For those who aren't aware Brisbane is pretty much just one big flood plain with a river snaking right through the middle of the city. My home and where I work were high and dry so it's all good on that front.

I have recently found time to get back into some model railroading by visiting the annual Brisbane show last weekend, and building a few kits. I plan to build a 7x3 N scale layout to exhibit next year at the show. You can see two kits I built in the most recent Photo fun thread.

Cricket season is about to start again so thats going to eat up my weekends. Thats pretty much it for me.

Gday Lone Jeep - I honestly can't remember where I got them from, they've been my signature for about three years. I will try find it and post back here with my results.

Yup. #8 glass of Miralax and the running has begun...

Moviprep is old news now done OTC with Magnesium Citrate {drank 1 bottle last night to prep for today} and now 8 glasses every 15 mins of Miralax, followed by two glasses of h2o.

Thought I had some gas..forgot I've been drinking laxative for the past 1 3/4 hours....but made it in time.

Enough of that. Suffice it to say the running has begun, and he's off...by a bubble slightly to the left...

NERM!!!!!!!!! good to see you back...almost forgot about you...figured school was keeping you busy.

Amazing! I haven't been in here at night lately as it was always so S L O W  or wouldn't load at all....but seems to be working fine...

Since I can't have any anyway, I think I'll have teh Chef's salad, TBone Steak, Potatoes au Gratin, steamed asparagus and a big piece of tripple chocolate Double fudge cake for dessert.

Ok, now I'm gonna be sick....

Later

Evening All,

Flo I would love a piece of Blackberry Cobbler warmed up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a coffee.

Not much has happened at w**k today, just the normal stuff. Tomorrow I have several errands to run first thing then hope to paint the top of my layout, cook dinner then attend a club business meeting. Hopefully Friday with be structure modeling day.

I have developed a problem on my laptop. For some reason it appears Internet Explorer is not loading all the way. I ran a full virus check w/o any issues and I have reset the computer back a month when it was working fine but still no goDunceGrumpy. I will get MOH to look at it tomorrow to see if she can figure it out. She is pretty tech savy.

Everyone have a good night.

Evening, all. I'll have the lowfat barbeque bacon cheesburger and no-carb curly fries with a fat-free chocolate shake, please.

I had quite the day today. Was in Lafayette, IN on business and took a few minutes (not on the Company clock, of course) to go seek out the location of the former Monon Lafayette Shops. Boy did I find it! Snapped a couple of photos - I had to use the digital zoom on my phone so the picture quality ain't what it could be.

Spotted the old coaling tower, which is pretty neat that it's there at all since the Monon was completely dieselized by 1948

Plus the surviving Shops buildings

One of the structures is the paint shop, not sure about the other. The place has certainly seen better days, but I was totally geeked up seeing the remnants of the facility.

After that I dropped by Hawkins Rail (one of my favorite places on the planet), where I finally expended a gift certificate I'd received as a Christmas gift last December. Picked up some pieces of various rolling stock. Of course I, uh, ahem, I wasn't, shall we say, completely accurate with my running total as I collected stuff off the shelves and overspent the gift certificate a little. Devil My wife expressed her opinion about that after I got home...

In my book, that's still a pretty good day...

Meatloaf dinner, please.

***Jim, ever modelled that coaling tower? Has a neat look about it.

Turns out it's our neighbor's church group coming out here on Sat. to help cut up fallen trees and he plans on bringing a piece of heavy equipment, perhaps his trackhoe. Sure would make a few of the larger trees easier to deal with.

Evening all. Nothing for me, thanks

Had a rough game today. We played the town where I used to play on the youth team, so I knew a lot of the guys. We got destroyed, 16-4. We'll see what happens with tomorrow's game; I don't know how they are.

Also, I got ACT scores back (took them in April). For those that don't know how the system works, you can get a score between one and 36 on each of the four sections. They are averaged together and that is your composite score. I got a 33 on English, a 32 on Math, a 33 on Reading, and a 31 on Science. When averaged together, my composite score was 32.
My essay, however, was apparently not that great. I got a 6 out of 12. Here are the comments on my score report:
"Comments on Your Essay: Your essay responded to the prompt by taking a clear position on the issue. Your essay used some specific details, reasons, and examples, but it needed more of them."
To me, THAT sounds like it was pretty good, and the comments made it sound like it would have been higher than a 6. Oh well, I'm still pleased with my scores!

SAT's on the other hand, I'm somewhat concerned about. I'm taking them on Saturday, and my PSAT's were not that great (for me). However, even if I don't end up doing that well, I can always retake the SAT, or I could just send my ACT scores.

Now catching up on posts from Page 6 to now...

Monon Jim, thanks a lot, but, sorry, I should have been a little clearer on the circumstances.

Last summer, I worked two jobs, on checking badges on the beach 10-4 on weekends, and bussing tables at a restaraunt 5-11ish various days, but almost every Saturday and Sunday. Towards the summer, I started waiting at the restaraunt, and my number of hours increased. Even before the increase, it was hard working from (basically) 10am-11pm two nights a week. This year, I'm planning on waiting at the restaraunt and not doing the badge checking. It's not all that formal, not to mention that the boss is good friends with my parents. I want to sound mature and responsible about it, but I just don't want it to be overkill. Laugh

Also, since I'm in Precalc now, I have to ask, what was the homework on? We're on logarithm's now, nothing too bad.

Uhhhh, Ray, you said you were'nt swearing. Might wanna check the second half of that third word...

Robby, it seems that you have made it into MR's Trackside Photos. Although I am no longer a subscriber, congrats, nonetheless!

Barry? Barry??? Flo, don't you think maybe you hit him a little hard? What? No, I didn't say anything, I promise. *Phew*

Rob, sorry to hear about the damage, but glad to hear that you are fine.

Vincent, glad to hear you like the new job. Where is it?

Galaxy, hoping all goes well for you.

Welcome back, NERM!

Well, it's getting late, and I have another test tomorrow, so I better get ready to hit it for tonight. Catch ya later!

EDIT: Looks like it's on me again...

Good Morning to one and all,

Best Wishes Galaxy, happy thoughts coming your way from Montana this morning.

Having my first cup of coffee bright and early at 6am, taking my wife and mother-in-law fishing this morning and then back to work on my layout.  Hoping to lay my first piece of track in over a year and maybe have a loco running by the end of the day.

Good Morning,

I need help, No, you don’t need a degree to help me out.  Since Champion Decals went under I need help finding Pre-1959 PRR, BLE, and NYC decals.  Microscale and Walther’s only handle the Post-1960 decals.

Rob, that’s good news you have helpers coming and that no serious damage (nothing that can’t be fixed) to your farm.

Garry, that water looks close, what river is that in your back yard?  So you had poachers on your property fishing?  Not many can claim that!

You can transplant an authentic German cook, but you lose the authentic German ingredients.

Ken, ask about a sleep apthia test.  I’m jealous, $4800 bed?  Sure beats my 7 year old $300 bed with the 2x4 frame.

Wayne got to sleep in this morning, not fair!  I have to get up at 0500 to earn that MRR money (so I think its really 0300, different time zone).

Galaxy, good luck I had to have something like that done a few years ago and it wasn’t fun.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a warm caramel roll with chopped pecans please. Thank you. What? Oh yes Dark Roast please. After I got hooked on the stuff, it’s my flavor of choice now. Uh, unless I say other wise of course. Hey, ya never know what the mood will be like on any given morning.

Supposed to be a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 65 today, then a 60% chanceT-storms tonight before 1am. Nothing severe is expected. But hey, 70’s from tomorrow on out and supposed to be the 80’s Tuesday….Cool

Bama? Ryan? You guys out there? Zoe, leave a pie on the counter as bait for PC. See if that brings him in.

Welp, I got NOTHING done yesterday I wanted. Spent 4 hourse fixing the sump pump, a normal ten minute job. Froze screw. Chisel drill, tap, Mr Murphy stopped by a copuple times. You know the deal, but it was the trying to avoid all that that cost all the time. Didn’t have a 10-24 screw so to Big-R to get ONE, then itwas done. Kicker was when I got out there to the house and actually looked at the pump and a proper diagnosis as opposed to a " yup, ain't pumpin'. Probably the 34 year old pump". It wasn’t the pump. ‘Twas the backflow valve. Flapper broke and I guess was going flat up and falling flat down. So, back to town to get a one way valve. It, of course, was not as tall as the old one so, that took some shifting around to make it fit the gap created by the removal of the old one. SighLove it. I did get some grass picked up off the back yard. Just the side and a pile in the way back corner to go.

Ken- More like I trust you to tell me you got it than the POLaugh. Actually, it would be the first item I ever mailed something that didn’t make it. Always a first I guess. Real reason was I didn’t want to trouble you with a trip to the bank.

LOL!!!!! Sorry G, not laughing at you, Lee’s comment just struck me as funny... "don't sneeze" Laugh. By the way, good luck today.

Rob- With all those trees around you were definitely lucky.

Garry- I’ll pray for your luck to hold out and the lake will not make it to your house. But IIRC, didn’t you say something last time about the dam and you should be OK? Just in case though. You never know what could happen. (later) Ah, I see you’ve answered that.

Monon Guy- I loved Dave Barry. Thanks for posting.

Hey NERM, glad you made it back. You too Aussie Jim.

Today, I hope to stay home until w**k this evening and do things around here that need done. Like play with trains, among other non-train related projects. Little things each one, but the pile of “HAYEG”’s (that’s Honey Are You Ever Gonna…?’s) are getting pretty tall now so I need to start whittlin away at that.

Say….Anybody heard from J.R.?? Maybe he’s at a race. Can’t remember if he said he was or not. I remember something about the truck….Confused.

Welp, best get a movin’ Here‘s to you G (raises coffee cup) Bottoms up! AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAAA!!!

(leaves with tears in eyes)

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

 Morning Folks. Yawn

 Flo, Diet Dew

Lee I am jealous as well, with me sleeping of a 15 year old lumpy couch. I won the King Mattress set from Kingsdown when I was working at the Evil places. I was the Kingsdown salesperson of the year in the St Louis Distract for 4 years in a row.

Monon Jim Thanks for the Monon Fix Of The Day! To bad you did not have a real camera with you. What was the approximate address? I would like to Goggle Earth the site.

Train Front Finally working on the PK 1000 F units that I bought motors for a few months back. Motors are by Bear and while close to the PK motors, they will need a little work to fit the PK frame. Only one end of the Bear motor has mounting screws for the motor mount, the other end will need to be glued on. Plus the new motors electrical leads are just a tad wider then the PK's. I will need grind out the chassis so they don't hit the chassis.

 See you all later today.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast.  Oh. and a cup of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.

I am home from my twice yearly visit to the vampire.....  The gal doing the blood draw couldn't find any veins in me so she dug around for a while (actually little pain involved) and then decided to start over and found one halfway down my forearm.  In order to have the blood draw, I now had to produce my Green Hospital card, my insurance card, and a photo ID to prove that I wasn't getting anything for free.....  I told the receptionist, Gee, I bet you get all kinds of people who wake up in morning, steal somebody's signed lab work sheet, produce a fake green card, and insurance card just to have blood work done...  I can just hear someone getting out of bed in the morning and saying, "Gee, I'd really love to have someone do blood work on me this morning...  Yes, THAT would be a lot of fun..."  Yep, can't be too careful these days!  I also told that her I had done the required fast and my next stop was to be Water Street Cafe downtown.  She agreed they have the best breakfasts!!!Big Smile  (In fact I had what I ordered above.)

As somebody already noticed there is a peculiar brightness in the form of a big yellow ball outside in the sky this morning.  Currently 54°F under sunny skies.  That is good so the folks sandbagging their Seneca Lake properties can w*rk on a nice day and not have to wear rain slickers.....  Yep the lake is now at record levels and doing a number on the sandy shores in the high rent district.  Hope to get the rest of the lawn mowed today as well as finish up some committee w*rk that needed to be done a few days ago.

Hope you all have a great day!

Good afternoon. It's 71° and mostly sunny. The high is due to be 78° and, mostly sunny and comfortable.

Went to see my foot doc this morning. He's pleased with the job I'm doing keeping the wound free of infection. Warmer weather is coming so I have to really be on guard. Went to Office of Motor Vehicles to renew my handicap parking permit. Guess what took longer. Nothing on the schedule today.

Good afternoon.

Glad to see each of you.

Good news from home in KY.  The lake dropped six inches since yesterday. They can not allow much more out over the dam while the flooding on the Ohio River and the Mississippi River remains an emergency.

Lee.... We are on the Cumberland River down stream from Nashville, TN and Clarksville, TN as it flows to the Ohio River. Our man-made lake is called Lake Barkley. .... We are in the Land Between the Lakes region. The other lake, Kentucky Lake is man-made from the Tennessee River, and it is west of us.

James in Oz .... I recall seeing videos of flooding Down Under a few months ago. Scary.

Cheers
