 Where is everybody?

Flo, none of the dinners brought there mothers her for dinner? I think the food is pretty good my self! Big Smile

My self, I had a great Mother's day! NO FLO, I am not a Mother! Called Mom and Dad and talk with them for about a 45 minutes. Wife went to work with me, and was picked up by our daughter for lunch.

Plus I had a good sales today. Sure Grip and slicks hooked great off the line, cut a .055 on the tree and pulled strong on the bottom end. Has a $3500.00 day to day and sure helps out this month. First sale was a $3000.00 deal done my noon. Top end I fell flat, sure could have used the fogger on the last 660 feet but still got the green light! Big Smile Packer can translate if needed.

 See you all Monday!

Evening all.

Hope you all (and your other halves) had a nice Mother's Day.
We went to my grandmother's today and made some lunch. Other than that, it was a relatively quiet day.

Shoulder wasn't feeling too badly today. I don't have gym tomorrow, I won't have to worry about doing it or not. I'll talk to the trainer after school and see what she says about practice.

YGW, if the difference between salaries isn't too much, and you can afford to be making slightly less, and would prefer to be closer to home, then I would stay with the current job. However, that's just me, and I hope that you will be able to make the choice that is best for you. YOH is also in our prayers.

It's been pretty quiet around here tonight... I'll be hanging around for a while if anyone wants to chat it up.

... My self, I had a great Mother's day! NO FLO, I am not a Mother!

Nor am I Ken, Buit I HAVE been called a Mother a few times...with a  dirty word after it!!!

Easy day.

DId hte diswasher.

Foam cleaned the stove and oven. Got some of the burned on-hardened on stuff under the dripo pans on the stove. We need new ones. FOr those who don't know...oven doors come off so one can "crawl into it" a LOT easier! Simple open the door to the first "notch" where it stays open by itself and pull the door straight up and off from that angle. It will come off it's hinged holder and is easier to clean oven with no door in theway! Most people don't know that! The tricky part is getting back onto the hinge supports it sits on. But it will go on

well I am tired for now ,a nd its getting late for me {us} so Just thought i'd ck the forums

Evenin' Folks!

Flo just a cup of decaf for me please. I'll be sitting in the back booth catching up on stuff....

Today was a good one!  Went to church and heard my #1 Granddaughter sing with the "Angel Choir" not once but twice!  Second time was the, now a tradition, mom's and kids singing together for Mother's Day.  The Confirmation Class did a great job of leading the worship, but the high point of the day was an infant baptism.  Now, our pastor always has fun and does a wonderful job of "introducing" the child to its extended church family.  He takes the child from its mom or dad and holds the child in his arms as he walks around the entire sanctuary of the church all the while extolling the blessings a child is for its family, church, and community, and also about our responsibilities for being the community that raises the child.  But today was special, he got completely choked up and had to stop a couple times during his walk through the congregation and compose himself....  Today he baptized his granddaughter!  The Father, the son of the Pastor, was one of my favorite Middle School student many years ago!  He had a beautiful rich young baritone voice as an eighth grader, and was also just a great kid!

This afternoon my family went to one of their favorite restaurants nearby and had a great Mother's Day celebration.  Both of my Granddaughters were great all day long, and we all had a fantastic time.

Hope all of you had as good a day as I did......Smile, Wink & Grin

Catch you all later!

Hi. Me? Oh I’m fine thank you for asking. How are you guys?

Well, Mothers Day was spent here with me and Brenda and Missy. Brenda did get the phone calls from the kids but no visits nor invites for dinner or….cards. I, as usual, stepped in and took her to dinner at her favorite place, the Chinese buffet, but that was really nothing special as she usually wants to go there about once a week anyway. Next year I may just suck it up and, even though she’s not my Mother, buy her a card. She acts like she’s pleased with just the phone calls, but she’s disappointed. She on the other hand spent most of the day while I was outside tending to finishing the back porch (for which she is very happy, but points out that the top railing and a few floor boards need replaced also since it took me so long to finish it so she can paint it), selecting pictures for a photo book thing you can make at Walmart. After dinner I spent what semed like an eternity waiting for these pages to print out so she could assemble this book and then we went to give it to her Mother. MIL was very pleased with it. It had all the kids, grandkids, in-law kids and yes, Missy too. That made Brenda happy.

Curt- You are the model building Speedy Gonzales. Good job too. I like it.

Wayne- Yours too. I especially like the weathering on the wood and the brick. Fantastic. That is the look I would like to achieve but can’tGrumpy. Nothing looks like wood, like wood. I suppose if I want that look I will have to switch from styrene to actual wood.

OK, After Rays engine house/workshop and Wayne’s…..whatever it is, I’m making a new rule in Toddland (of which I’m king). If it’s wood, from now on it will be built with wood. It is as easy to get as styrene so there is no excuse.

Ken- Check the carbs, sounds like you could be a bit short on cfm’s. Fog it too lean and you’re riding a grenade.

If J.R would show up, he could translate. Where IS he? He hasn’t been in all month. The storms that ravaged the east half of the States didn’t go through there did they?

I did lay a couple pieces of plaster cloth on the as of yet unprototypical land formation this morning. Nothing else though. Oh and I did apply my new bridge feet so I can start construction of two more supports toward the completion of that, allowing track work on the upper level to continue.Thumbs Up

AND I did take a few progress shots of the Forgotten Name Tourist Trap Town ( I need to write stuff down). Keep in mind they are just progress pictures much work has to be done yet.

Welp, time to settle down and rest before hittin the sheets.

Todd Nice's to have a few other Gear Heads on the site! Big Smile Carb's are running a little fat, need to retard the cam 2 degrees and tighten up the rocker arm lash a little, and drop down the jets 2 steps.

Seasoned curly fries, please.

***Todd, really like that whole barn scene. Well done!

Worked on collecting up more reusable tin from out in the pastures along with a little lumber. Seems close to 1/3rd of the tin might be salvageable. Amazing how deep some sections were burried into the ground.

Tomorrow I'll start work on reconstructing the tractor shed roof. It's going to be a long and slow process.

Visited the train room today.  OK, was just a short cut to haul the generator from the backyard to the front yard. At least I got to glance at our layouts.Whistling

Have a good night y'all.

Good Morning,

Drove out to Vermilion & Lorain, OH yesterday; the old Republic Steel Mill has a new fleet of cows and calves painted bright orange working the yard.  Hopefully this is a sign of new life at the old steel mill complex that made tube steel products and raw wire steel bales.  The yard was filled with gondolas filled with raw steel wire.  There is a small pipe company that is leasing a corner of the steel mill property receiving gondola loads of pipe. A very cool industry that would fit in a small corner lot on a layout, the prototype industry sits on less than 2 acres of land. Pictures will be posted in my rail fanning Ohio section tonight.

Curt, they have a sound only decoder with animal sounds you can install in the cattle ramp or your stock cars.  It gets really annoying after a while, but it’s a definite shock and awe device when friends come out for a visit.

I just bought an AR1 and a U92, paid $149 for both.  Hopefully I can sneak down to the layout room and install the track feeds, U92, and AR1 this week before I head out to Detroit Friday Morning.

Galaxy, yes the oven door comes off easy enough, but putting it back on can be a challenge sometimes.

Todd and Wayne very cool buildings.

Morning all

Dunno what I do today...probably take 4 bags to the Salvation army {of old clothes that don't fit or we won;t wear}

Should take some bottles to the CAn Man aslo. HAte that job. But I got coupons for 6 cents per can/bottle and I get a stamp on a card that when full, we get 7 cents on our next load. not bad for paying only 5 cents per.

well I shall also look for foam i think to pack trains in. need to pack em up form xmas..they are gonna need a squirt of air to dust off the shells. We could buy the premade storage boxes, but we can;t afford it now with buying a house and all

No new news on the house front. Seems the ones in our range are in a levy protected flood plain {flood insurance in case teh levy breaks}, or has asbestos pipes or wrappings, or theywant too much for the house. A few double wides have come up but we want full dry basement. ANd it is hard to get someone to work on trailers these days, so we'd be in teh same boat as here in this trailer, except wed own the land. One house ooks promising but is built on a slab. Darn.

Well I will talk at you all later for those who read these things!

Later have agreat day.

Morning, all.

Ray, what a great story! Even without getting into theological discussions about infant baptisms, what a powerful experience that must've been. Thanks for sharing that with all of us here.

We've drawn one step closer to putting our house back on the market. Tried to sell it a few years back just on the leading edge of the housing market bubble burst - was on the market for 14 months then and we had a grand total of six showings. But a couple of weeks ago the house two doors down from us went up for sale and, while there's no sold sign on it, we have it on good authority that an offer was accepted after just six days. But we have four kids, two dogs and two cats, and our home, while only seven years old, is in "very-well-lived-in" condition and only Providence could get it in sellable shape. We'll see where this all leads.

Good morning. It's 74° and cloudy wind 12 mph SSW wind. The high will be near 90° and it will be partly cloudy.

Today I want to get started with setting out bushes and trees on the layout, but I know that the moment I pick up one of those bags or jars somebody is going to decide they need me for something. It almost never fails. If I can get some trees set out I'll also be able to experiment with the dead fall another modeler (Ken) sent me. I have four bags of trees of various quality already sorted out and I have several Woodland Scenics jars of clump foliage for the bushes and there's plenty of glue.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, #2 special, over easy eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sourdough toast to go along with the dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug, please and thank you!

Fairly nice day outside here in the Finger Lakes.  A bright yellow, round orb shows up every now and then to help dry things up a bit.....

Been w*rking on stuff for the Scholarship Dinner so far this morning.  Getting all the last minute reservations in and on the list.  We are also providing funds for our speaker to drive up from Virginia next week (right now one of our members is putting together funds from the local college and a bunch of donations to get her here).....  She is Miss Virginia State University (2012), BTW, and one of our very own here in Geneva.  She was one of my all time favorite little second graders way back when I was teaching Music, ended up being president of her HS Class, and has done some incredible things already in her young life.  Can't wait to see her again!  Just one of those wonderful people you can't help but like and admire.

Should be heading over to my son's house to cut up some firewood with him.

Jeffrey, nice scene!

Have a great day!

Hey All ,

Hope as my Penn. firends say Hope "you uns "had an awsome mothers day. Ours was very quiet. MOH in bed all day, not feeling good, oldest daughter sick, younger daughter recovering from being sick. Went to church by self, came home fixed a little lunch for everyone, took a long nap. Then took care of the little ones so MOH could rest in peace.

Thanks for the My 2 Cents from everyone about job . I called former employer and informed him MOH has a brain tumor that the docs tell us is terminial. Also informed him the treatments are 30k  a month. THAT may have an impact on their offer. We will see. Did not want to make the jump and have them terminate me later due to running up their insurance later. Can they legally do THAT?The commute is a killer. One to two hours each way, now I am only forty minutes away. The stress level now is relatively low. At the former place it is at times off the charts high. Running up to sixty million dollars of production , hitting production dates ,with a high levels of finish, on or under budget and the only man on the site handling all of this (site work including underground utilites ,building pads and foundation, frame thru trades, drywall thru year end customer service) can make one a little crazy at times.

Jeff and TMARSH. Great job on the photos.

Jeff - hows the foot/ankle?

Uhrich - how are you doing?

Johnboy - what did the sawbones say ?

Also just a little note to all of those that are praying for us, Thank you!

Gotta get back to w**k. See you all tomorrow.

yougottawanta

Jeff - hows the foot/ankle?

Not good. It is at least stable for now. The docs are trying to get a special brace made for it but Medicaid is being very slow on the authorization. The brace has to be custom made (nothing off the shelf will work) because of the way the ankle joint imploded and collapsed in on itself. As a result the bottom of my foot is now the side of my foot. You can see how that can complicate things when you think about it. The only way I can do any kind of walking right now is by wearing an orthopedic walking brace that was made for a more or less normal foot. Not the ideal solution but it's a temporary fix. I usually have to use a cane to aid me in getting around as this severely affects my balance. On days when the bone pain is too much to bear I have to use crutches, which are OK outside but in the confines of my trailer are impractical. Life can get very interesting when it comes to steps. Going up is somewhat difficult but coming down is a royal pain as it's very easy to loose my balance. Because of this I no longer go to the Leesville Post Office. It has high steps and no handicap access. Instead I go to the post office in the next town. It has complete handicap access.

Afternoon All,

Flo I would love a unsweetened ice tea please.

Today is supposed to get to 94 and to 92 the rest of the week. I got all my modeling done today so I am happy about that. Sunday I start wiring andI have no idea how long that is going to take. I figure to run the 2 main buss, then feeders. I will be using IDC's for connection of feeders.

Our oldest male skunk Rayne (4 yo) started dragging his hind quarters yesterday. He is at the vet with tests being run. The vetsays his pelvis is degenerating due to loss of calcium and that he may never use his rear legs again. He does not act like he is in pain. I feel so bad for him. He is the most gentle animal I have ever known.

Ken- I am glad your sales are up again.

Todd- I love your wood ghost town.

Lee- The constant noise would drive me insane. I like sound loco's but a little goes a long way.

Howmus- Sounds like you had a great time Suunday.

Ulrich- Good luck with your Mother. I have said a prayer for her.

Jeff- I still like that gas station scene. Hopefully you will get some quality modeling time in. I find it amazing that in this day and age that a Federal building is not handicap accesible.

Johnboy- You haven't said anything so I hope the MD did not find anything serious.

Rayne in better days

Afternoon guys

Stopped by the other store (the one I used to work at) and told a manager about what happened with the one girl and her facebook messages. She said she was sorry one of her employees said that, and that I should never should have had to put up with it. Put ethanol-free gas in my car again today. I got 19 mpg, even with the drag racing (computer says 2 mpg at full thottle) and driving about 1.5 hours at 85 to get there with the windows down.

Trains, Found out that the trucks from the newer atlas C420 will fit my Kato C425s. I wanted these C420 trucks since I can model them with exposed bearings, unlike the kato sideframes with are closed bearing. I'll see about ordering them in the future. I also found a source for those Bachmann NE12 cabooses I've been looking for. Turns out that bachmann did a later run of these with body-mounted McHenry couplers, upgraded tooling (much finer railings and ladders), and screw-in trucks. So I bought three at 4 bucks a piece, with 7 bucks shipping. I'm debating wether or not to have 1 of these still be in CB&Q colors but have BN patches. (2 will be green, maybe 1 with no roofwalks or ladders)

Curt, BLI made cattle cars that made cow or pig noises. One of my friends has some, but someone put smell in one car. Ick!Can't really tell from the photos but have you done motar lines to the building at all? Personally I like the smokestack, but it looks like it might be a bit glossy from the flash. Dullcote should fix that, but mask off the windows first. Never heard of pet skunks before.

Todd, progress looks good

Ken, Don't think I could translate because I haven't really worked on carburators before. I've watched my father do it, but I've really only messed with electronic fuel injection. What's a fogger though?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good Evening,

A cool, day here with showers off and on and supposed to be like that until Thursday.

Had a very nice dinner last night for Mother's day. MIL and wife both liked it so all is well.

Curt, as for the weathering, is the packing building brick? It looks like it might be. I paint all my  buildings before I assemble them and one like that would likely take me at least a week but then I only work an hour or so at a time. For brick  I use a wash of Badger Antique White to bring out the grout lines and also to give the bricks a weathered look. If it is too heavy on the brick I just lightly rub some off.  I use grimy black in a wash on the window frames, etc. and generally paint everything even if just a wash. By using flat paints, the shine goes away. I use grimy black on the roofs as well but just aim for a streaked effect so it looks weathered.

Well might do a decoder install tonight on a Model Power Pacific but I'm not feeling very energetic so who knows.

I did play with Robbie for a while. He has a new toy that my wife bought him on Saturday. He learned its name, Quackie, in about 2 minutes and now has 41 toys he can retrieve by name.

Well time to do maybe nothing,

CN Charlie

Evening al...Indifferent..SKUNK!!!!!. HEAD FOR THE HILL...oh, it's just Rayne. Sorry to hear of the problems.

Already ate, beef stroganoff. Pretty good too. But I could use a big ole bowl of ice cold applesauce for dessert please. Thanks!

Boy was it windy!!! Got the lawn mowed and the porch finished. Now to repair the parts that are weathered beyond my wife’s liking.

Jeff- I have to say Ezra’s is one of my favorite structures of yours.

Time to retire to the train room. I have a bridge awaiting.

Evenin' Folks!

Flo, just a decaf for me tonight.  I'll be in the back booth just relaxing for a while.

Went over to my son's house for a couple hours early this afternoon.  We got all the large logs from the trees he had taken down cut into rounds waiting to be split and stacked.  May get much of those done tomorrow.  I also have been working on the dinner list for the Scholarship Dinner.  Still waiting for several "reserved table" groups to get back to me with the names and what dinners they want (we have 3 choices, Prime Rib, Chicken French, and a Vegetarian Lasagna).  Thursday Morning I have to get out the Ouija Board and make up some guesstiments of numbers and then try to get them adjusted at the college dining hall so we have the right number ordered to cover those who call o the day of the dinner to say they are coming..........  What part of Deadline don't people understand???

Curt, sorry to hear the little guy is having trouble walking.  I hope the doc is able to give him some help if only for a while longer.  he sure is a sweet looking little guy!  How long do skunks usually live in captivity?

Jeffrey good luck at the Docs tomorrow.  Hope they can keep you walking for a while longer as well... Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

Haven't been able to get down to the trains for 2 days now.  Maybe I can sneak down there for a while tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great night!

 Evening Dinners!

Flo, a pitcher of Beer please. After today, I need one.

Work Front Spun the tires 60 feet, missed 2nd gear and dropped the drive shaft at the half way point and coasted through finishes line with a mere $550.00 is sales to day. ( starting to miss drag racing with all the car terms )

Todd Your last set of pictures look out standing! How big is your layout? Would you mind post some more pictures?

What is that smell? Oh, Hi Curt! Whistling Good looking buildings!

Packer Here is a fogger. I was going to use one on the Charger until we made the dyno run. Idea was it would cool the intake charge so I could get by with the little higher than I wanted compression. But, after it pulled 689 HP I realized the fogger would make things spit out the block! Even with deflashing the block and the 4 bolt main grid I was pushing the block at close to 700 hp. Besides, it was going to be a driver.

If I keep this up, I might just get the Road Runner back on the road this summer.

Good Morning Gang,

it´s a sunny day again. High will be in the upper 70´s today, a little cooler than down south, where Petra and I live. My parents´ place is only a hop, a skip and a jump away from the Danish border, so we are really up north here. In the US or Canada, this would be Innuit country...

My Mom will be up for her surgery in a few hours. Although a routine job, it´ll take 4 hours. My Dad and I are all nervous - one never knows whether the old gal´s engine will kick in again when the restart it.

Chloe, just a coffee for me, please.

Have a good one!

Curt - Rayne is a cutie! I´d like to borrow her, just to give a little shock to some neighbors ... Whistling

Jeff - those pics BowThumbs Up

I did NOt sleep well last night. in fact was up more than asleep.

Well still running the furnace in the AM and A/c in the noon to eventide. WIll be around 65-70 today.

This spring has been miserable {across the country as well}, but more like what our springs were like when i grew up here. Even in June you would start to school wiht a jacket and sweat all the way home.

Dunno what i do today. sleep?

Have a great day!
