Good Morning,
Jeff, the grass was cut, oops I mean the sign is rotating. Enjoy the long slow days, there will be plenty of short busy days ahead.
Curt, that’s what I did, hook everything up on the bench, check it then use it as an example. Crimping cables; I use CAT5e cables, thicker insulation than regular phone cable and not as touchy when crimping. I bought a box of wire, crimping tool, and connectors for networking and phone service for $75. CAT5e you have to mash the crimpers hard every time to drive the connector pin through the insulation. Phone wire requires a smart amount of pressure, mashing will split the lead or roll the lead off the pin.
Attaboy – Attaboy on the divorce, just remember to relax and breathe once in a while. (I’ve been waiting 2 years to use attaboy twice in a proper sentence). Sorry it had to happen, but in time you will be glad you did it. If she won’t leave call your lawyer, as an officer of the court he can get her out faster than the police.
Jim, great progress on the buildings!
My yard makes a squishing noise when I walk in it. It’s good for the plants, but the soil is super saturated. I saw on the news Ohio is getting blamed for some of the flooding down south as we feed the Mississippi river 60% of our rain and snow melt.

Lunchtime - and I am home!
Feels so good to be back! I took my father to the convalescence center, where my Mom was already waiting for him. Just brought the luggage into their room, said good bye and off to home, where two little packages were awaiting me.
Ken - you made me a happy man! Just what I need to work on the bridge module, and plenty of stuff to work on the adjourning tunnel module, also. Those tunnel portals are just super! I hope to be able to commence w*rk on those two modules very soon, so I can post some new pictures here. You are a kind man, blessings to you and your family!
Petra is preparing lunch for me - I will enjoy it so much, after being responsible for the meals for two weeks. I am not the greatest cook, you know!
You all have a good one!
Good morning.
The layout will be on hold again. I'm leaving for Alabama very shortly. Shelley is still in Michigan and I'm off to AL. More problems with my 91-year-old Mom. It's been a very long year for stuff like that. The car will remain in the garage, and will be worked on when I get back. My truck will get me there fine, but it will be hard to get Mom in it if I give her rides.
Simon mentioned tornados in Joplin. Very tragic news from there. Hospital directly hit by tornado and heavily damaged. Dozens killed. Prayers for Joplin, today.
Ulrich. It's a good day for you. I'm glad.
JimCG claims he came in the front door. Uh, huh.

Good Morning!! Coffee please. Thanks. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. A bit soggy here this morning, but nothing compared to those in the flood areas. Or Lee. No squishy yard here. I guess we got dumped on yesterday whilest we were in Nebo. About an inch and a half in a short period. A deluge I believe is how it was referred to. Still, whining compared to many. Prayers for those and those with loved ones in Joplin, and Minneapolis. Joplin is horrific. Just so sad. Attaboy- Eat lots of beans. LOTs of beans. Nothing she can do but leave. You can open the windows later. It's legal, cheap and actually quite satisfying, both physically and mentally. Great for lots of laughs too. Try not to while she's complaining though. Makes it obvious. But later..... sidesplitting. Starting to chuckle myself just thinking about it. She sounds soooo much like my sister. You sure you don’t live in Decatur, IL? The name Paula ring a bell?

Mononguy- Good idea on the foam for coal, try that cheap paint pigment in the art dept at Wally World. Now, to seal…..I guess some acrylic clear. Hm. Never looked for it specifically.
Simon- I figured you probably were a Cards fan. Hence the good hearted jab. I myself am stuck right on the Mason Dixon line so to speak. Our preacher is a Cubs fan most the congregation save a few, are Cards fans. Makes for interesting Sundays sometimes.
Now that I think of it, rural people and small towners are more likely to be Cards fans around here. Bigger Cities get the Cubs. Each has it’s fair share of the other though it seems the Cards reach farther in towns than the Cuds do in rural areas.
Garry- Sorry to hear troubles with your Mom again. My prayers continue. Sounded like the battery when you said the key wouldn’t come out without manually releasing it. (don’t like that feature and never figured out why it‘s there. Unless GM dealers got tired of jumping cars and not having a key) If it is in the anti-theft side, it’s worth the 50 mile trip to the dealer rather than anyone else no matter how much closer. Oh and I was watching the front door all day and I didn’t see JimCG come in either. It was like, “poof” and there he was. Creepy.
Today I must, of course, do the bookwork for the Church, then grocery store and this has to be done when not raining because …..dog food and…....maybe it doesn’t. I do have to go out and check Mom’s house again today.
I should take the opportunity to roll my lawn this wet week. It’s pretty bumpy and makes for a wild “push” when mowing. Or, Maybe I’ll work on the layout instead.
Best get a movin if I want to have time to get into the trainroo….. "MISSY!!! My gosh what did Mommy give you to eat!!??" (cough cough) You know, it’s so heartwarming to have a dog laying at your feet. Until..., they have to relieve themselves of some gas pressure. I THOUGHT I had her trained to excuse her self from the room, eviDENTly…., I was wrong. I will be leaving myself, she can have the room until the fog clears. Need to get going anyway.
See Attaboy? I works for dogs…., should work for you.

Flo, Diet Dew Pleases
Tired and grumpy this morning. Was not sleeping well and went to the bed room to sleep around 5:00 AM in the bed,not on the couch. As quite as I was, I woke up the wife and she started to complain that she might not be able to fall back to sleep with me there! So back to the couch I went.
Seems a few of us are having Digitrax problems. When my went goofy we had a UT, DT400 and a DT 402 Duplex all hooked up. There is not a reason in the world that should have caused a problem. I have not been in the mood to mess with it. Again I am missing DC.
Train's Mo Jo Is all messed up now. Went to the E-Z Command, but nothing will make it around the bench. Derails, stalls or won't stayed coupled.
Gary Sorry to hear about yet another trip, any way to get Mom to move up to where you live?
Ulrich Well, you did put a smile on my faces! Glad you like the portals, I like them better than the Woodland's ones.
Well, time to get ready for work. Just not in the mood today after yesterday!

Ken, I am coming over Wed or Thurs when you are off and we are going to sort out the DCC. We'll get the PR3 hooked up and I am going to trouble shoot the rest of the system to localize what the issues are. Let me know via PM what works. I am in town and don't have anything on the schedule except a boys baseball game on Thursday evening.

Morning All,
At w**k today and it is hot as Hades all ready. Not much happening otherwise. Asked MOH to buy 3 universal throttle pockets for my Fathers day present. I borrowed 1 from the club temporarily.
Ulrich- Glad you are back home. Enjoy your new loco. Picture?
Garry- Hope your Mother is OK.
Lee- I think I learned a valuable lesson yesterday about testing before installing.
Everybody take care.

Hi ho, it´s me again (I know this is bad English),
took a nap and now feel like having a large and strong coffee. Janie, would you please be so kind?
Ken - those tunnel portals from Chooch Enterprises are just fantastic. They are hand painted an lightly weathered - much better looking than any plastic portals I´ve ever come across. They will be an eye catcher on my layout
Attaboy - I am glad your divorce is finally through. Once your ex has moved out (which will hopefully be soon and without major damage to body and soul), you´ll be ready for a new start. I shouldn´t be saying this, being married for nearly 27 years, but from what you have disclosed in here, you´ll be much better of without her. I´ll be pulling for you!
Barry - my modules are 150 mm by 310 mm, but the size depends on the track system you are goung to use. Track length of a straight module is 312 mm, giving me that extra 1 mm at each end to disassemble the layout without a hassle. It leaves an unsightly gap between the modules, but I just pretend not to notice.
Just a few pictures I want to share:
This little museum line is located about 65 miles from my place. They have weekend service during summer and up to three steam locos under steam. It is the oldest museum line in Germany, open since 1966. If gas weren´t that expensive, I´d go there more often (last time was 2007).

Chloe, I'd like an order of Eggs Bennie and a pot of strong coffee please.
The sun is shining here but it is only supposed to get up to 59F today and that will be the high for most of the week. Hope we don't get any frost.
I have lawn mowing and digging out some rocks near the backyard pond on the agenda today. I also hope to get the lawn chairs cleaned.
Garry, hope things go ok with your Mom. I can sympathize believe me.
Well time to get at it,
CN Charlie
I must be getting older - I forgot to post pictures of my newest addition to my line´s roster:

A little bird has told me that there will be some coaches coming for my birthday in August
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes, real maple syrup, side order of sausage and some dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.
Barry, nice set of wheels there. Good to see you here.
Ulrich, it is great to see you making some progress with the layout! Looking good! I love the photos of the museum as well.
Ken, I'm betting your Digitrax problems turn out to be a loose wire somewhere making intermittent shorts or opens with the circuit.
Attaboy, don't forget to change the locks on all your doors as soon as you get her moved out!!! Be sure to keep the place locked up even when you are home for a while.
I think I will do something completely different today.... Hmmmmm??? I know I'm going to mow the lawn! I think I'll use the mulching thingy though just to be different.
Thought and prayers for all in need! have a great day!

Morning,
Off to see the GP abouta variety of things this AM.
Saw 2 houses on Sat that are promising. One flat on a slab with an extra room that could be "train room" or the garage could be finished off for a train room, BUT house is ELECTRIC HEAT {Expensive around here!} and on a slab, we DO want to know where the pipes are and if they ever had/have frozen pipes. It was a fairly large house thought the kitchen was huge, LR good sized and the extra room also had laundrya nd H2O heater in it, but... It also is on a HILL {fairly flat lot though at the top of the hill} so MOH wants to know about plowing and early morning leavings for work issues.
The second house I think we nixed. The locotion is on a busy thoroughfare and the house obviously had H2O/roof problems once. Bank owned and winterized in 2010! hasn't sold yet. 2 Br with a damp basement that we weren't sure would make good train room or not. Had a LARGE 3 car garage that was heated! THAT could be a nat gas eater! We liked the newer furnace that was gas, but old oil tank still there and can be an expensive prop to have removed. Also the wellhead in front of front door had sunk in as not used anymore, leaving sidewalk dangerously crooked vertically sunken/heaved. Now has city H2o and sewer apparanely, and don't know of old septic removed and filled in like the law says or not. House sold as is of course. BIG driveway for K turns to go out forward to busy street, but still was a challenge to go L out of with heavy traffic. H2O stains on Kit ceiling where an improper roof valley was done without flashing...think that is the problem, and NO type of Connection for missing stove! Dont know if was gas or electric or what..we have to have something put in for that then. Upsatirs Dining room huge off Kit in which we could put washer/dryer closet for one level living. {by the tiem we get to that we give up trains and such we think.}
I have found that these houses we havve looked at have narrow rickety stairs to basements too, and hard for me to navigate with my cane as my back gives me grief. SO the slab in the first descrioption is looking good now! But could be NIGHTMARE or EXPENSIVE should we have plumbing troubles...IF we can get a plumber who will touch it! A new Kit with built in DW would be nice, too, but running plumbing form where it is could be problmatic. ALSo would put in french or slider to back yard from Dining area as there is no direct acccess to back yard save a side door in extra room. Old people who can't take care of it anymore own it and are selling out as they can't take care and it shows...also need new carpets right away as they have deteriorated AND you can smell their dogs!!!
DUNT know, as Ricky Ricardo would say.
WEll, ahve a great day

I want to see the yard that 750 track sign came from!!!
Afternoon all, I just had lunch Flo, but I will wash it down with an RBF please.
For those that have asked or mentioned it, I have already checked with a lawyer about getting the ex out of the house. Worst case scenario, she will be escorted out and off my property by June 22. When I explained that to her all she said was "You can't do that on my birthday!".
Packer, there are no community property laws in PA. The most she could have claimed was any increase in value of the house while we were married. Since we were married in April 2009 right after the economy started to collapse the house has probably gone down in value. Mmm, wonder if I could claim she ruined my property value and demand payment? As for your friend at work, she would be safe here in PA. For statutory rape she has to be under 16 and at least four years younger than you. (was on a jury for a stat rape case one time) Don't know about Florida.
Todd, her sister's name is Peggy. Now if she was single. Well maybe not, it might run in the family. I'll consider your suggestion. I work at a grocery store part time and can get lots of beans.
Ray, already have the new locks. They'll be on the doors before she gets off our street.
Afternoon folks!
Flo just a RBF for the moment.
Found one reason the mower was running so hard..... I turned it over on its side after it quite a few times this morning. The whole bottom was clogged with heavy, wet, rotting, moldy grass from the earlier mowings. Yuck! It was caked on within a half inch of the spinning blade. I removed huge globbs of the gunk! No wonder it couldn't handle the high stuff the other day. I got through the heaviest part (the bog between my property and a neighbors that has only been mowed completely once this Spring. Slush, slup, squish, squish.....) after setting the mowing height back down. I was hoping to get a good chunk more done later today, but it is currently precipitating again out there. A very heavy dew indeed...... Guess I'll putter around with some inside stuff.... I know! There is a model Railroad down cellar! YES!
blownout cylinder Ray: I want to see the yard that 750 track sign came from!!!
Yes Barry, my next model railroad will have to include Bailey Yard....
Later!
Oh I can see something like that...75 tracks wide....mmmmmmm....
Coffee in a SULTRY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Cheers! Rob
Hi folks,
Just reading the terrible news on the latest tornado to strike... This time Joplin Missouri, terribly sad with the loss of so many innocent people, just heard at least 112 have died.
I hope that all here, their friends and family are safe and well.

Afternoon guys
Had the day off, so I slept in for once. I went and added a beacon and correct horn to my RS11. I had 4 packs of details west rotary beacons (RB106). I tried to modify one like Wolfgang did to light it, but I busted the ring. 3 left, took one outside to paint the ring. Once I picked the tape I taped it to, it fell and hit the ground. 2 left, get one right, set it on the bench for lunch and couldn't find it. One the very last one, I managed to get it installed in the RS11. Need to buy more and some firecracker antennaes. (RS11 needs one, but not the steam loco bell
Also attempted to start a front range 40' double door box car kit. I looked at all the doors, and then realized that the doors that came were all 6' and 8' (much less all incorrect, but one type was close). But they never fit right. The car has a opening just under 13', so I need a 6' and a 7' door. I'll have to bug accurail about that one, and maybe some dummy couplers.
Attaboy, I was talking with some friends yesterday and they mentioned a fellow MRRer in the area lost his layout and his 1/2" gauge trains in a divorce due to community property laws. One saind most states are like that. Florida is 16-18.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I went into the junk box today and put together another locomotive. It's an engineering nightmare. Proto2000 frame, motor/flywheels and shafts, Athearn Blomberg trucks, Bachmann FT-A body. I still have to put in the wiring from the trucks to the motor.
Evening All,
Not much happening this way. I think I am going to hold off making the shelf under the layout until friday when I get my power busses from the LHS. I would like to mount them vertically if possible to give me easier access for wiring.
Ulrich- Is that a actual RR locomotive or like a trolley? I think European/British locomotives are neat because they are so different from US loco's.
I hope everyone on the board and their families are OK. Prayers to the people of Joplin.
Everyone have a good night.
Proto2000 FA frame, motor, shafts. Athearn worms, trucks, Bachmann FT body and some determination to make it all work together.
Ain´t looking bad, Jeff! Burning midnight oil today?
Good Morning Everybody!
Did not catch much sleep last night - I guess I am overworked a little, also a little edgy about my bypass operation coming Thursday. It is not going to be a big thing - micro-invasive, that´s what the docs call it nowadays - but even so ... Makes me nervous. I´ll guess I´ll be out for a few days only.
Janie, coffee and a breakfast bagel, please.
Curt - that´s a Japanese EMU (Electric Multiple Unit), something in between a Light Railway Car and an interurban trolley. It´s got nice detail, even a full interior. I wonder where the motor is
Here is a prototype pic:
Ray - just for you, another pic of the museum line.
The loco shown actually is one of the three delivered initially to the line in 1894.
Well, I´ll be out.
Have a good day!
Great Evening Fellow Dinners!
Flo, for everyone over 16 (Is that right Ulrich, with this being Germany). Flo, 25% tip on the tab!
Joplin MO I am sorry to hear about there plight! You never know with Mother Nature. It is one of the highest death toll I have heard in decades for a tornado. Only one I sort of remember worst was in IND on a Easter Sunday when I was a kid.
Work Front That why I am such a good mood! Today I knocked it out of the Ball Park and bases load! ( Cardinals Bush Stadium, yes I am part of Cardinals Nation ) Would you Believe $4322.96 On a Monday! Plus one of the Mattress was a Kingsdown for a cash spiff of $30.00 to boot! Yep the door swung my way today! I just might make some $ yet out of this month!
Attaboy Bean, Beer and Cabbage. Or get a Irish Wolfhound! As much as I love the ones I had and have. But when they cut wind OMG, you can all most see the GREEN MIST in the air! Even I gag and have to leave the room.
Simon 1966 You are the best! Thursday at this point seems like it will work if you can make it over before K-10 opens. Or we could we could go together to K-10.
Ulrich Great looking train and tickled with you like the Portals and the package as a whole. If I did not all ready have all the Portals I need at this point, I would look to see if they came in HO scale. If you like this package, you will be doing the Happy Dances with the next one from me and the Mail Box Helpers here at the dinner! I still think you will need a bigger Desk!
I all so have a idea that will solve the gaps that are left. I will post the idea later. It is late and my cable was down due the storms. It is 11:31 PM, late for me to be in the dinner.
I wish all of you as good as tomorrow as I had today!
Overjoyed Ken Posting Again!
